One of the best dining experiences we had on the Island. The two disappointments keeping this from a 5-Star review were 1) that they only offer conch fritters and Carib lobster on Tuesdays. Fortunately, we traveled to Ms. Vie's on the East End earlier for some of the best (fluffy) conch fritters we have ever eaten, and 2) they did not have ginger beer to craft a Dark & Stormy. The Tuna Tartar was excellent, as was the Jerk Quesidilla. Ceviche was tasty, but some diced shrimp and calamari would make it a big hit IMHO. Lobster Cakes were good, but need more meat and structural substance. Save room for desert, as the in-house made Key Lime Pie is the best you will ever have. Absolutely stunning. The in-house made bread pudding was also delicious. Both were devoured! ...and we were already full after our entrees! I would highly recommend a stop here, at least once, during your trip to St. John. read more

Great service and great food here! Especially after being at a couple restaurants with over-priced food and super slow service. Morgan's Mango will be one of our "go-to"s on the island from now on. Our first visit was during Carnival, but the restaurant graciously accepted a reservation for a party of 13. The seafood is spot on, cooked and seasoned perfectly, the drinks are strong and creative, and the service was just right; our server took care of us but wasn't at our table enough for us to even notice. This place is a hip and cool place to eat. The quality of the food is top notch but its missing the true caribbean flavors. I would make things a tad more authentic by spicing up the dishes and adding more exotic ingredients. The bartenders are the wonderful and will do everything in their powers to make you happy! I just read through the reviews, and I'm not quite sure how they stars average out to less than 4...Math seems off. Well, without a doubt, my girlfriend and I had one of our best meals in the USVI at Morgan's Mango. We showed up on a Tuesday, and though we didn't have reservations, they got us seated in about 20 minutes. While waiting, we had sangria at the bar, which may be one of the best sangrias I've ever had. We had the shrimp appetizer, which was perfectly cooked with a tasty cajun seasoning. I had the paella, which was out of this world good, and my girlfriend had the mahi mahi, which was also fantastic. Atmosphere was awesome. Live guitarist was great. Service was a tad slow but not horrible. Only complaint was the prices, but we decided this was going to be an expensive meal in advance, and I don't mind paying if the food is good. We tried Morgan's Mango for the first time on our recent trip to St John and were very disappointed. We were given a pleasant greeting and did not have to wait too long to be seated without a reservation. Nice atmosphere. It took a little while for someone to wait on us, however. We ordered the conch fritters for an appetizer and they were quite good. Our main courses were substandard with the Jamaican steak very tough (full of grizzle) and the mahi mahi unremarkable. The service deteriorated from there since no one came by to check on our meals. We also had to wait forever to have our water glasses filled and get our check. I will not go back. read more

We opted to sit at the bar, and I think it was a great decision because we had fun watching the bartenders working. Our server/bartender Austin was awesome. Wonderful ambiance sitting at the top of Mongoose Junction looking out toward Cruz Bay (which included a refreshing thunder shower mid-meal). Gracious service, easy cocktails, and really good food. I ordered the paella which was creamier and less rice-y than a LatAm version of the dish --- different, not better or worse. I would have tolerated a spicier version of the dish but maybe that is just my personal preference. It was a satisfying meal and the balcony seating reminded you that this was a special occasion for sure. Four stars for that, a missing star for the lack of that little 'extra' that would have made Morgan's legendary. Went for lobster night. Food, music and service were fantastic. Started with the butternut squash soup, awesome! Then onto the stuffed lobster tail with key lime sauce - OMG! Wife had sea bass voodoo style which was also amazing. Ended with delicious key lime pie. Will definitely eat here again. read more

Fish spot with apparently no other choices. Although there are vegetarian options on the menu the employee rudely explained that everything is cross-contaminated and not to eat here. I recommend a pass, and go up the street to Extra Virgin for some amazing pasta, caribbean style. read more

First thing in the interest of honesty. Our trip to Morgan's was for the bar only and we did not eat. That being said the atmosphere appeared fantastic for a higher end dinner in St John. Don't let the outside fool ya, we did up until our very last day there and we regretted it. From outside it looks like just another casual bar like most in the area but upon walking up the stairs you see and feel a whole different atmosphere, still casual but just, well, "nicer". Drinks were good, bartenders were friendly. (Thanks for insisting the wife try the Bushwacker Morgan). We missed this place for most of our vacation, don't make the same mistake. read more

During a 7-day visit on St John, my girlfriend & I ate here three times, it was that good. If you're looking for fresh seafood, you've come to the right place-- I highly recommend the swordfish, its super fresh & juicy, seasoned just enough. I think it was one of the specials, so it might not always be available. But if it's there, go for it. Lobster night is definitely worth it. At first we were surprised to see the lobster didn't come with a claw, until learning that caribbean lobsters don't have claws! The ceviche is excellent, just spicy enough to have a kick without being overwhelming. What else? Salads are fresh, the grilled shrimp & coconut shrimp is perfectly cooked, with a balanced texture. If you have a sweet tooth, try the key lime pie, it turned us into sugar-junkies... The service is friendly, sincere, genuine and laid back but still "with it" enough to get things done. One of the nights we were here, they had a live guitarist, he played at a relatively low volume so it's unobtrusive. Also, we were here during carnival, the place seemed crowded on all nights. We were very lucky to get seated without reservations (just barely!) so I would recommend a res, especially at peak dinner hours. My best dining experience during my trip! Older woman traveling alone 7/18-7/23. Felt very comfortable sitting at bar by myself. Easy walk from Grande Bay Resort. Staff, bartender, chef.....SUPERB. Ate here 2 evenings....Diver (Sea) scallops divine.....Veal Ossobucco with risotto was incredible. Great drink and wine list. Best Bushwacker in all the Caribbean. Highly recommend. Six of us for dinner. Food was outstanding. Two vegans were extremely happy with their options. Appetizers, main course, sides and desserts were all excellent. Get reservations. Wow great service. Great atmosphere! And the food was amazing! Went for Mother's Day and they gave all the Mother's a free cocktail. Wine service was also impressive. Scallop appetizer special was awesome with a nicely paired mango tomato salad. They also had a prime rib special that was perfectly done. What a gem of a restaurant. Food is phenomenal and server was extraordinarily nice. Unfortunately he couldn't handle the 16 person table and he didn't get any help from the rest of the staff. i have to start by saying we didnt actually eat here. but we were planning on it and were turned off by the service up front so we left instead of staying to dine. we came on our first night of vacation after this was recommended by our concierge, a friend who visited previously, and yelp (not in that order of course). it was tuesday night which is supposed lobster night, something which seemed like a great reason to come out since we love lobster. so we meandered over early in the evening to scope it out for later, say around 5 pm. the restaurant was less than half full and the hostess came to greet us. i asked about lobster night and she just blankly stared back at me. i asked again, isnt tonight lobster night. she said well sure. i asked, what does that mean. she said well the chef will prepare options with lobster. i asked, is that different than any other night since i saw you have lobster on your menu. she stared blankly back at me. errr....oooookay, so i said lobster night details or lack thereof aside, i said we arent quite hungry yet but would like to come back later would we need a reservation. she said, yes in fact the earliest we could seat you is 9 pm. i said, so you couldnt seat us now if we wanted (while looking around at the half empty restaurant). and she said no, first seats are available at 9 pm unless you want to wait at the bar for a seat which was the one part of the restaurant that was full. i said thanks anyway, maybe we would try our luck later. and we left. no thanks morgan's mango. read more

Research on yelp prior to dining out, never fails me. This time it did and I hate to write a poor review, so I waited over a week to see if I still feel the same way. I do. (We wanted to visit here in 2008, but we had a large group of 16 at the time and they could not get us in...totally understandable.) Anyways, this year on our trip to St. John, I revisited the menu and was really excited to come eat here! From the menu, it looked like they have some unique offerings and try to keep it fresh. That's all I ask for in a restaurant is freshness! Anyways, it was our last night in town, so we hoped for it to be enjoyable. The food was edible and we were starving, so we ate it. But really it was mediocre at best and for the price, I would have expected a little more. Between our table, we ordered the tuna tartare, calamari, mahi with fruit salsa, fish pot, coconut shrimp and jerk chicken, brie quesadilla and 2 key lime pie slices. The best things were surprisingly the calamari and the quesadilla, they were not overdone. The theme throughout our dinner was overcooked. The fish pot was extremely overcooked, all the seafood in it was way overdone, the mahi was dry and overcooked as was the dry, tough coconut shrimp. The only entree that was piping hot was my brother's quesadilla. More than likely, his quesadilla did not get fired until much later, since it was technically listed as an appetizer it probably got forgotten. But basically, leaving the other 3 items to die in the window for a while before hitting the table. (I do not know this happened for certain, but seems likely. Maybe our food would have been much better otherwise. ) It was buy one margarita get one free night. We ordered a Patron Margarita rocks salt and a frozen mango sauza margarita was dropped off. He tried to drink it, but said it was way too sweet and sent it back. This was the "free margarita" as part of the buy one get one free, after paying for a traditional rocks patron margarita. Anyways, that was a little odd. We didn't complain to our server about our food, because even though we are not those people, we already asked for the server to remove the 'free' mango margarita from the table. Positives, the musician was good and I enjoyed my wine. Overall, not a great experience. If this is one of the best places to eat in town, our next trip we will likely end up cooking at the villa every night. read more

Service upsells everything. Snapper had garlic salt on it! Tuna tartar had absolutely no flavor even though it promised jalapeños and citrus which on its own should deliver. Red wine was served as chilled as white wine. Overall such a disappointment. Nothing is worse than stuck up servers serving bland overpriced food. I came here without a reservation on a recent visit to St. John. I had actually only taken the ferry over from St. Thomas to have dinner. It was 4th of July, perhaps they were anticipating a large crowd. A couple was ahead of us and they also did not have a reservation and I could see that they were a bit taken a back by the hostesses's sort of "i'll have to see response." Similarly, when my time came I was told about how many tables they had reserved etc in the initial instance which also made me feel a bit unwelcomed. Frankly my concern at that point was about whether they could seat me or not, not how many people they were expecting. Anyway we were taken to one of the upper tables which was near nothing and inconvenient as I had a toddler in tow. After asking for a new table we were reluctantly moved towards the front but off to the side near the bar. It was a tough location for the staff and for us because the table was tiny and the baby seat ended up blocking the aisle a bit. Anyway, service was a bit on the slow side but once we ordered our meals came out quickly. I will note however that we ordered vegetarian plates so that does not require prep hence the quick time out. Overall, not particularly impressed by the food (nor the price point for the vegetarian offering). And please note I ordered the vegetarian option because nothing was really singing to me on the menu and I had come all that way and did not want to try to find another place. One interesting note, I ordered a red wine, a cab I believe and it came chilled which was very surprising. I sent it back. Is that the way reds are served generally there I wondered? Overall not memorable other than for the location. I may have caught them on an off night, who knows but I definitiely did not leave the establishment feeling like I had had a great evening. Oh, yeah. The front tables, were empty the entire time I was there. After I left I realized that I had left something at the restauarant and went to retrieve it. Guess what? After years of eating here when on vacation this past visit was my last. Its been going downhill but last night did me and my family in. 730 reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. As we were waiting the same number party showed up after us and was seated. No idea how that happened. The hostess was had to cover the staff at setting tables because they were understaffed which meant she also wasn't doing her job which was MUCH NEEDED. We were never handed menus and had to ask twice for them. The entrees were ok but nothing special. My sons fries were underdone and my enpanada was small for $9. Every part of the meal was painfully slow i.e.: seating, menus, ordering, getting our food, and then we sat for another 20 minutes waiting for a dessert menu. Once received for a party of 7 we ordered 1 piece of pie which we once again waited 15 minutes for? I was so irritated at how long everything took I asked for the bill early and guess what......I had to ask for that twice too. The only positive thing that happened was that the waitress new the service was horrible and told me she would not force me to pay the automatic gratuity and I should tip was I felt she deserved. She may have saved the entire evening by doing that because that restaurant will never get my business again due to VERY poor management but I still tipped her well by taking responsibility. We were there with a 730 reservation and left at 10. Pathetic!!! read more

Went here for dinner and had the lobster special. The food was really really good but what really made the dinner awesome was our waiter. I think his name was Jeff, said he moved to the island 6 years ago. Treated the family with such great respect and attention that my kids were still talking about him the next day.
