What do you do for breakfast on New Year's Eve 2021 in while vacationing in Tempe, Arizona? Call a friend who recently moved to the area from Chicago. That's what I did. It was cool. It was nice to meet a friend for breakfast here, although she picked me up at the hotel before venturing about 2 ish miles away here to Morning Squeeze. It was her pick not mine, since I don't know the area at all. And so, we were here at around 8:30am on a nice Friday morning on the eve of a new year. It was pretty cool and the restaurant was pretty packed. We parked on the main road with street parking, but we couldn't find it initially until we had to walk around to find it - closer to the AMC Centerpointe 11 cinemas and the wide-open courtyard in between them. We entered with our face masks on, especially with the COVID-19 surge still ever present in our minds these days. We ended up getting placed rather quickly next to a wall with an outlet. Perfect, I can charge my phone while we dined. Morning Squeeze is a quirky breakfast spot that isn't at all traditional. It's mixed with the old and the new to create that kind of buzz that's needed nowadays. Part coffee shop, part hip trendy, without the moodiness of Starbucks. It was definitely a nice way to spend time with my friend on a nice New Years Eve day morning 2021. I ended up getting the southwest omelet I think, which came with breakfast potatoes, along with some iced tea to set the tone for the day. The overall experience here at Morning Squeeze was neat, casual, and positive. It kind of set the tone for the day and the evening ahead, while ringing in the New Year. Dining with a friend on vacation is also neat as well, especially traveling solo, it was nice to dine with a local. The service here was friendly and fast, while being attentive to our needs. We probably spent about an hour here before heading out. The restaurant was kind of small, but larger than a standard café. It had about 15-20 tables that were occupied when my friend and I came in. I enjoyed the ambiance, which was nice and cool. Not sure if they have public Wi-Fi, but I think they had air conditioning. The food was good and delicious. More so that I had to pack up part of it for lunch since I couldn't finish it all. For the most part though, it was a delight to come here on New Year's Eve day for breakfast. If you are in the Tempe area and famished, consider coming to the Morning Squeeze for breakfast or lunch. It's the pick me up that will get your day going. I would recommend it for sure. Morning Squeeze is located at 690 S Mill Avenue in the heart of Tempe, Arizona. They accept major credit cards, which is always a good thing. They do cash too, but credit cards seemed more clean and protected, especially with COVID-19 still being a thing in 2022. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be available street metered parking where you can find it and also parking garages nearby as well. If you are coming here by public transportation, best to plan your route accordingly to get here early to sample the great menu items they have here. I actually ended up getting a smoothie to go, which helped me a lot while waiting for the nearby AMC Centerpointe 11 cinemas to open. I tried the four berry one and it was an interesting but delicious. Pick one up on your next trip to Morning Squeeze Tempe. The prices here are pretty reasonable, but the only thing about this place is that the hours is not all day. They open daily from 7am but close at 2pm. No dinner here, since they cater to the breakfast and lunch crowds. Come early and come often. You'll have the best time ever here. 4.5 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and the service. 5.0 stars for sitting next to the outlet to juice my phone. 4.0 stars for the ambiance. Yum! We enjoyed morning squeeze on a Saturday morning after some house hunting. There was no wait when we arrived and we were promptly seated inside. I ended up asking to swap tables as they had several parties crowded at the front of the restaurant and ample space around the corner. They didn't come around as much and were t very attentive. The bar staff was great but also forgot about our drink order. The food wasn't warm when receiving it and it was unfortunately very hot in the restaurant. We're talking 85 degrees. We were sweating sitting at our booth and didn't even try to enjoy the food because we wanted to get out of there asap. We order the chilaquiles, got it sent back after a bite because it made me nauseous and the server was made aware, & took the plate from the table by the server. When the bill came, i noticed it was way more than what i had ordered, I still got charged full price for it. I paid in full and asked the server if i got charged and she said yes after i paid. Their omelets are top notch and emphasis is on good cooking and ingredients rather than just making absurdly large portions (though I have never been able to clear my plate completely!) The sourdough toast is my favorite. Always served hot enough that butter melts quickly and a little jelly makes it rich and delicious. They serve coffee in big mugs, which suits me just fine. It's always fresh and hot-but-not-burning (meaning I can drink it right away!) Have never met a member of the staff that wasn't helpful and welcoming. Our young server was very nice but seemed either not properly trained or overwhelmed by her section and there was only a handful of people at the tables, but her return to her our table took quite a long time to bring us drinks, take our orders, bring us boxes and our check. My friend ordered the bloody mary and was quite disappointed as there wasn't a lick of vodka in it only the taste of the pickle juice and the drink was about $14. She appeared to enjoy the rest of her meal. I had ordered the salmon benedicts and felt they were quite underwhelming and very one note, not a lot of texture and taste but the potatoes were seasoned well. I'm not sure if the menu is enough for me to return for a second visit but I would hope that the service is given a little more training in how to balance tables or perhaps make sure every section is getting equal share. read more

There is a fairly large yet cozy patio and a bar that opens onto the patio... This is where I placed myself so I could observe everything going on around me. What brought me here was the promise of a mimosa flight. I was not disappointed. Huge glasses, picture this: ball jar jelly glasses, the big ones. Three of those in a little chicken wire basket, how cute. Tasty and strong. I watched them pour and there is only about an inch of juice in each, the rest is alcohol. The place inside was so cute, well-lit, cozy, barely any people at the tables yet. I asked for the hollandaise sauce to be put on the side because I would not be eating right away, and I was thinking what would be the best way to reheat it. When I opened the box my order was beautiful, it was so hard to close the lid and not eat straight away. Lunch hour comes, I reheat the sauce for 15 sec, no need to reheat anything else. Every bite was so rich! Eggs were cooked perfectly, the chipotle sauce blended wonderfully with the salmon, which they weren't skimpy with either. The potatoes were flavorful and the portion was more than plenty. I forgot to ask for ketchup but they surprised me with a side of ketchup in my bag, I liked that. My new favorite breakfast/brunch spot on Mill! This place has a bright and cool atmosphere. I loved everything about our dining experience here, from the service, the patrons, and the food.
