We had Morrison install a mini split in 2021 and had great service from them, however since Sunset purchased them, it's been negative. Recently I scheduled a maintenance on our unit (nothing wrong, just the annual maintenance recommended). They texted just before the appointment to cancel... said they were overbooked. We rescheduled and I told them i was frustrated with the cancellation because I had to miss work for that scheduled time slot , and I told them I had a tight range. We scheduled.... Aaannddddd I waited. No show. Missing work again. I got a text AFTER the scheduled time to explain they had people out sick. I get it, I've worked retail and customer service.... But to just not show up or give people notice is disrespectful. Now I'm down PTO and I have to find a company who will show up. I was going to have more heads installed for our stream, but after this, I refuse to give my money to a company who doesn't respect My time. read more

Emailed them for a quote for routine service/check up on A/C and gas furnace, got a prompt response and the quote was much lower than what I was paying with the previous provider. Instead of having someone come out pre-season (like coming out early Fall to maintain the furnace and spring to check the A/C), I had them check both at the same time, which also made it cheaper. Scheduling was a breeze and the office was super nice and friendly. The technician was great, he was very courteous, took his shoes off when he came into the house. Did a great job cleaning, checking the systems, he'd invite us to look at the unit after he was done. My partner got to look at the furnace and I reviewed the before/after pictures of the A/C he took with his tablet. - I'm sure we could have looked at the actual system but I was in the middle of a meeting (working from home). The cleaning was ON POINT and he was very thorough when reviewing his assessment with me. He was very practical and suggested that we get the A/C serviced every 2 years and the furnace annually. - He just saved me some money right there! Upon payment, it was $50 less than quoted because they were having a spring sale (which seems to be common with the other reviewers). So I ended up paying $190 (I believe) for both A/C and furnace. Still sounds like quite a bit but it's like $100 cheaper than I was paying before. Also sounds kind of silly to have pay someone that much to clean out cobwebs and weeds but it's about the peace of mind that a professional made sure the systems were functioning properly. I don't leave reviews often but I can say I was pretty excited to leave this one. I just bought my house and not being from Portland, AC is not something i can live without. I called Morrison to get my furnace serviced and asked for an AC bid. In the meantime I called 2 other companies for bids as well. I found morrison to have the best price, unit and warranty compared to the other 2. Their quote was $200 higher than the 2nd bid and $3600 cheaper than the 3rd bid. And Morrison offered a better unit and warranty than the other 2. A week and a half later they came to install the unit. (Today) they showed up early/on time and completed the job very timely and efficiently and hardly disturbed me while I was working from home. Once they were done they let me know and walked me through each part starting with the thermostat and ending at the ac unit. Would highly recommend their services. My dad and ex husband both worked in HVAC so my standards of service are higher than most. Thank you!! read more

We were super impressed and happy with Morrison Heating & Cooling. Joe came out and gave us an estimate to install an A/C unit (they were much cheaper than the bid we got through Costco). We could tell right away that Joe knew his stuff as he explained exactly what they would need to do (they needed to make some adjustments to fit in the equipment and replace some of the flexible duct connectors). Our appointment was scheduled for 8am and Greg and Kyle showed up on time and quickly figured out where all the lines would need to go and got to work. They got everything installed but the Ecobee thermostat we had wasn't turning on. They took the time to troubleshoot the issue and got everything to work. They got everything finished and cleaned up by 7pm. I have to imagine that they were very tired and hungry at this point since it had been a long day. We were very happy with Morrison. We had a full furnace/air conditioner/heat pump replacement. It was a big job because we were replacing an electric system with a natural gas system. Morrison was right on time with all their time estimates. When we were delayed by City inspection, Morrison loaned us space heaters to keep the house warm. They ran the gas line to the new furnace and took pains to keep it out of the way. The workmanship on the metal venting they had to replace is exceptional. They replaced the refrigerant lines running to the heat pump outside. Other contractors we had place bids said they would reuse the old ones. Morrison replaced them (at the same price). Morrison even helped us solve problems left by other contractors in the house. All aspects of the job showed professionalism and craftsmanship. The price was absolutely worth it. Six years after purchasing our two story house we finally made the decision to have central air installed. A couple quotes later and Morrison Heating & Cooling was the local business we couldn't say no to. During our search for HVAC service, we learned our furnace was the same age as the house and installing a brand new AC unit with a furnace over 30 years old was not recommended; the furnace was guaranteed to fail if we did. This was an extra cost we weren't expecting but were understandably accepting of. A two person team arrived on the scheduled service date at the scheduled time and their electrician arrived a few hours in to complete all the wiring. After the all day project was done we officially had central air and it felt so cool. The clean up inside the garage and side of house was excellent. We requested to keep the furnace for scrap otherwise they would normally take it along with all the packaging from the equipment. We have recommended Morrison Heating & Cooling to everyone who asks. Start to finish what an amazing experience, Ray the sale person was really great to work with, gave me several options price wise and they were one of the most reasonably priced bids I received. For a new furnace and AC they were $11,000.00 cheaper than the most expensive bid for similarly equipped products(and that price isn't a type "o" along with other company only sold their own brand so couldn't even know what quality I would have gotten) that is how much more reasonable they were. The full cost was pushing my budget so we talked and he came down to meet me at a cost I could afford. The installation was within 2 weeks of the initial conversation, and they were all really nice and knowledgeable when talking to the installation team. Apparently this company was purchased by Sunset Heating and Cooling, so we already feel scammed for trying to work with a company based on Morrison's previous good reviews. Our AC stopped working in a house we were moving into during the heatwave (I'm also 8 months pregnant) and we needed someone to look at it asap. They said there was a $129 diagnostic fee and then rescheduled us into the evening because they were running behind schedule and tried adding an additional $250 fee for coming "after hours". We got them to waive the fee but then they told us the unit HAD to be replaced and it would be around $9000. We got a second opinion the next day from a referred technician with another company and he changed a blown fuse for us for free and now the unit is working fine. DO NOT use this company, they are liars and scammers and will do anything to squeeze some extra money out of you. read more

I bought a "Yelp Deal" that was going to save me $20 on the work. Wow! I was having water pool up in my basement that I traced back to my HVAC. Starting from my first call with Janet, she was able to get a tech scheduled fairly quickly to check it out. This company has shown itself to be liars and not live up to their word. I hired them almost 8 weeks ago to do a job today and they called me yesterday saying they would not be able to arrive due to a death in the family. They called today proposing to push my appointment to end of June. I asked why they could not move other appointments or reduce my cost for the inconvenience. They would not say. Furthermore, the scheduler and estimater both hung up on me from their phones. I was trying to understand (and I never yelled or used foul language) and they refused to discuss. They first told me Sunday that a death in the family caused it, then today it was a death and some material shortage, then they call back and say it isnt a material shortage, then they claim they told me that sunday they said there was a material shortage, then they say they apologize for hanging up and it has been a rough day and they will take internally how to address, then they call back and cancel my contract. They then state that I yelled and cussed at them, which was not true, and that they did not want to do business with me. My furnace stopped working 3 days before our recent February snow/ice storm was about to hit. Morrison was able to come out the following morning after I called to diagnose the problem. I ended up deciding to replace my 24 year old furnace, as the repairs wouldn't have been worth the investment. I also decided to have them replace my ancient and constantly malfunctioning tankless hot water heater as they would give me a bit of a discount for doing both at the same time. By the evening of receiving my quote and scheduling the installation for the following week, Morrison had dropped off 3 loaner tower space heaters to keep me warm while I waited. I was so grateful for them during the storm. Thankfully I didn't lose power! During the storm, I ended up having water dripping through my bathroom fan and sleet blowing in my bathroom! Morrison investigated for me when they came to install the furnace and found that my old bathroom fan was vented into the attic (not to code) and snow/ice had likely accumulated and come in through the roofjack. There was wet insulation in the attic. So I added venting the bathroom fan to my project list. I had a new modern bathroom fan installed by an electrician and Morrison vented it for me directly to the roof. My three projects were all completed yesterday and I'm very happy with how everything turned out! Joe, the general manager was great to deal with and patiently answered all my questions on the phone (and my emails). Jeff, my lead technician, was so friendly and a pleasure to work with. Tech was very friendly and professional. Did a tune-up of the furnace and A/C in mid-November. Just fired up my A/C for the first time now that it's hot, and it doesn't kick out any cold air. Their policy says parts and labor are guaranteed for a year, so I called them and asked to have someone come out to look at why their work didn't ensure a properly working unit. They said it'll be $95 just to come out and look at the unit. So much for a guarantee meaning anything. I'll be filing a BBB claim! read more

I called Morrison today to set up a service visit, as our furnace was short cycling (turning on and off) and giving me a hard time when I tried to assess the problem. They were not able to get us in until Monday, and we already had an appt with another company for that day, so I ended up cancelling the appointment with Morrison. About 20 minutes later, someone from their team called to tell me what the problem might be and how I could maybe fix it myself. This was TOTALLY above and beyond what they needed to do, and I was in fact able to fix it myself. This saved us at least $300 in repair fees, that would have gone to another company anyways. This was a very professional move, from a very cool company. We will definitely be using them again in the future. read more

Steven showed up promptly at 8 AM and went right to work. When he was finished, he went over everything he did. I had been told by two other HVAC companies that I needed a new fan blade and motor for my AC unit. Steven said that he tightened all the screws and saw no need to replace them--the AC runs more quietly now and he saved me $500-$700 right there! Their service contracts are a lot cheaper than other places that I've used. I will definitely be staying with them from now on! read more

On Feb 5, 2019 my mother Eva Shields had Morrison Heating and Cooling install a new furnace in her home. That night about 2:00AM she was woke up by a very loud snapping and other noises. She looked in the other bedroom, up stair and the basement. The basement was all lit up and snapping with lights etc. all coming from the furnace. She went back to bedroom to grab a robe and other things to get out of the house and it stopped. All was dark in the basement. She told me she had never been so scared in her life (she is 91 years old). She went to Morrison and told them, they said to turn off the thermostat. Later a technician came out and looked at the furnace with his flashlight and he couldn't not see any burnt wires, all was well and put in a new thermostat and left. She had a Male neighbor go down and talk to them. They told him the wiring was all bad and she needed a electrician to look at the wiring in house, a rat could have got in and chewed the wire to the furnace. The loud snap, snapping happened again and again waking her up night after night. She had them over 4 more times. She even documented the time, how many snaps and the thermostat temps when it happened. All they did was put in a new thermostat and the final technician told her to turn the furnace off in the basement and to go down and turn it on when she needed heat. My mother is 91 and never went down to turn the furnace on again. This was in mid-April. She went without heat! The stairs are not her favorite ting to go up and down. When she finally got over the fear of hearing the snapping, we called another company. They come out on June 14, 2019. They found things like the second stage of the heat fan didn't come on. The thermostat was programmed wrong. *******The scariest was the finding of a 9 inch gap in the flue/vent pipe into her upstairs. My mother could have died from all the carbon monoxide and- the silent killer - So turning off the furnace and her not able to the basement saved her life. We would have thought at 91 she could have just died of old age and not even known about the carbon monoxide that was venting into her house. Summary - 4 new thermostats and flashlights do not fix things. read more

I chose this company based on the great reviews, but unfortunately would not recommend them. Scheduled to have furnace replaced and hood range installed a few months ago. When the owner came out to give the bid for the hood range I asked if the existing electrical outlet was sufficient (a friend had told me it might need another), and he said it would be fine, and that they could do both jobs in one day. His guys came out, installed the furnace and said they'd have to return for the hood range, which was fine with me. I then wrote a check for the remaining amount, though the hood range hadn't been completed. The next week they started the hood range installation, then realized the electrical outlet was not sufficient and said the owner would give me a call. He didn't call me, after several days I contacted him, he said he would refer me to an electrician who could install the outlet at an affordable cost (additional) and finish the installation. Weeks went by, I didn't hear from the electrician. Checked in with Joe by email asking about next steps, he simply responded with the contact info for the electrician. Electrician hasn't returned my calls. I let Joe know and asked to discuss options for completing the job, haven't heard a word back from him. It has now been 2 months since the job was to have been completed. Will be filing a complaint. read more

Had a big job- adding a basement AC unit to our furnace to cool the whole 3500sq ft house, but then also adding two mini split units- one for an attic studio, and the other for an adu. Had several companies out to bid the project and do some trouble shooting, and Morrison was by far the best. Other companies wanted to put the 2 compressors we needed on the side of the house by the driveway and garden lot, where we regularly entertain. One of them told us that we would actually have to hard prune a 100 year old rhodie to make room. Meanwhile, Joe from Morrison measured and said there would be no problem locating the units in the alley on the other side of the house, where they would be completely unobtrusive. He then came up with a super efficient route for the conduit (for the mini splits), and even called me back to say he had thought of an even BETTER route, that would absolutely minimize the amount of conduit on the exterior. All the work was done in just 2 days, the system works beautifully, and we have zero percent financing for 2 years- same as cash, which made the whole thing possible. Oh, almost forgot to mention that their bid was many thousands of dollars less than one of the other companies. Very pleased! read more
