Star rankings made me call... and shortly after sharing that the air wasn't blowing as cold as it was last week (it had been an exceptionally hot week) he interrupted to respond with "That means you must have a leak because your system is a 'closed-loop' system and if you're losing cooling you must have a leak. How old is your unit?" I responded with the age of the home/unit (12yrs) and he said "Well, they're only supposed to last between 10 and 15 yrs so we can take a look at it and...." That's when I stopped and calmly interrupted him and said "Hey, this isn't going to go well. I've been on the phone for 30-seconds and you've prepped me for a new unit. I know I might be skeptical, but ... " aaaaand he interrupted and went on a rant telling me that yes I was overly-skeptical (he might be right) and how long he's been doing this and how he knows what's going on with my unit because of his experienced, he raved about how great their reviews are on their website, how they help people when nobody else does, how they help little old ladies and poor people who can't afford service, how they stay open when other companies are closed and don't wanna help." -- In so many words, "they're the good guys!" I offered to share with him why his lead-in had sent up red flags and he continued to tell me why they were the good guys and I was irrational. When he finally finished letting me know that my perception was invalid... I shared with him that consumers are on-guard with repair people because we don't have ongoing relationships and we've all heard of or experienced horror stories ... he dismissed my concerns and told me I was an exception (less than1% of calls ) everyone else just trusts them. This didn't increase my level of trust and I said we'll just go our separate ways. I was definitely the calm one on the phone, though he never got rude (other than talking over me and repeating loudly how great their company was and how unbelievable it was for me to have any doubt at all because read my reviews)... he let me know several times that their company stays busy with all of their other customers! I then read a few more reviews and found others had similar negative experiences on the phone and several had the type of service visit I felt I was being set-up to experience. Happy for you if you had a better experience with them... I couldn't get past the arrogance and dismissiveness of the sales guy priming me for the big ticket. read more

Jack is great. I installwd a new rhermostat on my own and ended up with no heat. Jack called back right away, within a few minutes & diagnosed the problem over the phone. Blown fuse, a $4 fix. I really appreciate the excellent service. read more

Beaverton Heating and A/C came out on a Saturday and repaired my gas furnace. I initially felt I overpaid for their services. But on Sunday the furnace failed completely. I talked to the owner, Kevin and he affirmed his commitment to customer service. He and Mike returned on Monday morning, spent another two and a half hours working on my unit. They supplied a blower motor and didn't charge a thing. I am well satisfied with them and would recommend them. read more

I called and spoke to Nikki last week that my AC unit wasn't blowing cold air and that I had the same thing a number of years ago and I was low on coolant and that once coolant was added the AC worked great. She was great and quickly made an appointment for Monday. She was very easy to work with, friendly and professional. On Monday, I received a call from the technician letting me know he was on the way to my house (just as Nikki stated) and he arrived on time. I'm not going to mention the Technicians Name because while I wasn't impressed with him, things didn't go really bad until he called his boss (At least he said he did). But I'm getting ahead of myself. After the technician arrived he wanted to dismantle part of my furnace to see if it was dirty. When I asked how long that would take he said an hour. I looked at our furnace and said that I doubted that he could take it apart in two hours with all the pipes in the way, and it would take him another 2 hours to put it together again. He said that was probably true. So 4 hours to see if it's dirty?? I suggested that years ago I had the same issue with the AC unit and it turned out the AC unit was low on refrigerant and we should start on something easier (and Cheaper) before dismantling the furnace. BTW I have my furnace serviced every Fall and I change the filter on the 1st of each month. He said I should let him do his work and he will start on the furnace and work his way to the AC Unit. And I said that I wanted him to check the coolant level and if it's low, then that's probably the answer. If it's not low, then he could go back to his plan. With a great deal of back and forth disagreeing we finally tested the AC units refrigerant level and it was totally out of it !! I said great let's put some in and that should fix it. But NO, he was still determined to make a $1000 on this service call. He said he would put some coolant in and also a pound of dye so he could come back another time to check for a leak. By the way the Dye is the same price as the coolant $130 per pound. He said if it leaks in the front he can patch it, but if it leaks anywhere else, I will need a NEW AC Unit! I let him know that if I needed a new AC unit that I would not replace it; we just wouldn't use it since we live in Oregon and turn it on maybe 6 times a year that it's not worth replacing. He said, You won't replace it ? And I said No, it's not worth it. He said if I wouldn't consider replacing the unit, then he would have to call his Boss and walked away. When he came back, he said that his Boss said he could add the coolant to the unit but the cost is $180 a pound and that my total bill for the day would be around $840. It would also take several hours to add the coolant. Since he couldn't explain to me how coolant went up $50 a pound in a matter of less than 10 minutes and why it would take so long to add the coolant, I paid his service fee of $140 and asked him to leave. Today I contacted another heating and cooling company about the cost of adding refrigerant to my AC; they charge $80 service fee and $60 per pound of coolant. Imagine that? read more

Did their sheet metal work on site, took about 3.5 hours, some of which was testing to make sure everything was working and there were no gas leaks. I had a terrible experience with the customer service agent (Nikki, the owners daughter). She is so incredibly rude. The installer (Dale) did a nice job for me 1 year ago (he installed a new thermostat on my furnace) but when I called to complain that it was not working after just over 1 year, Nikki blasted me for bringing this up and said I would need to "start all over" as if I had not worked with them before. I asked to speak with the owner Kevin but was told he was "sick" and not able to talk with me for "several days". I then asked to speak with Dale and was not given his number as he was "too busy". I later found out the thermostat was fine as my renter did not know how to operate it so I called her back and we got into another loud argument because she would not listen. All she did was talk over me. I told her "God gave us 2 ears and one mouth so we need to listen twice as much as we talk". That went over like a lead balloon. If you decide to work with Beaverton Heating and AC please make certain to avoid this person! I'd say to go to Garoken Energy in Aloha. These people are GREAT. Ask for the owner Donna Jordan. We have used Beaverton Heating and Air Conditioning services several times over the years, and have always received really prompt service and great technical support. We had them out last week to fix something with the furnace, and today we experienced a problem with the pilot light on our gas fireplace. With no questions asked, they came out the same afternoon as my call and fixed it at no charge, even though it wasn't related to the work they did last week. I couldn't ask for more. read more

Boy, did I appreciate Dale coming out and taking a look at our air conditioners! I had a feeling we weren't getting the cooling we were getting last year and sure enough we weren't. We've been in our house 9 years and have never had anyone look at the condition of our two air conditioning units, central air and furnace. Dale explained how a good air conditioner, venting and heating works and then set us up to fine-tune each part. He said the units were installed very well - that the motors are working well - but that we could use a little more coolant and new capacitors. He also - rightly - wagged his finger at me for not changing the air filters - and set me up for a good 90 day reminder. Dale took his time. He was not in a rush. He did the job right, didn't cut corners and charged a fair price. He set us up so we probably wouldn't have any issues for the foreseeable future - perhaps 10 yrs - IF I changet he filters... HORRIBLE!!!! I am absolutely disgusted by the shady-ness of this company. We had an issue with our furnace last night and called Beaverton Heating to see if they had someone that could come out. This was about 5:30pm. The gentlemen said that he had someone in the area and he would have them call us to get an ETA. Within 15 minutes William called us. Said that he could be out in about 2 hours. Once he arrived, he looked at our furnace and told us that "this here is your $377 problem." He held up something and my husband asked what it was. It was a "ignitor." My husband said it "looks like a $40 part." William said "well, that's what they go for." My husband said "well, I guess you have us over a barrel because we need heat." So he fixed the furnace and brought in the paper work. The invoice stated $149 for labor; $172 for an ignitor and $56 for a flame sensor. What I found interesting was that the invoice stated the company was "RIGHT NOW HOME SERVICES." We paid the invoice and asked William for the old parts. He stated that he had already threw them in the van but he could get them if we really wanted them. We said yes...we want them. After he left we looked up the parts and found that the ignitor was a $19.95 part and the flame sensor was $4.45. A total of about $25 for parts and this company charged $228!! I could understand a late evening "emergency" service charge for $150, but to overcharge us $200 for parts is ridiculous. So this morning I called Beaverton Heating and asked why this company showed up instead. He stated that's "just how we do business." And when asked about the discrepancy in the cost of parts he literally stated "we don't get a lot of business this time of the year so that's how we make our money. Why do LeBron James shoes cost $300?" After arguing with this idiot about their shenanigans, I was getting no where and vowed to tell everyone of our experience. I will NEVER use this company again and I hope that they NEVER take advantage of another person like they did us. read more
