I went to Morton's for my birthday. They treat you real nice for your birthday. They put your name on the menu. They take your picture & they give you a nice dessert for your birthday. The down side is they ran out of food. (lobster tail, cream spinach) and they don't tell you until everyone else's food comes out that we don't have what you ordered. As far as separating the check absolutely not. It's only one check that everyone at the table has to pay. The problem with that is that some people are paying with card& cash. So that was time consuming. My house salad was good. The dressing on the salad was good. The bread was good and the shrimp was good! read more

Ok let's start with the food, we ordered the lobster bisque, two different ribeyes with compound butter and the sour cream mashed potatoes. The lobster bisque was probably the best I've ever had and at 13 a bowl the best value at the restaurant. The steaks, i had a bone in ribeye that was very tender but could've had more seasoning at $70 for a steak it better knock my socks off.... My socks stayed on. Also I feel like my steak wasn't 20 Oz closer to 13 I still had plenty of room after the steak. Even accounting for the weight of the bone. I wish I bought a scale or sent it back. The mash had no flavor or love in it at all, unlike the service which was attentive. The atmosphere is what you pay for, very low key very classy. Well...I do not know where to start. Cocktails were nothing special. The Bullet and Coke came in the Old Fashioned glass the Old Fashioned in the mixed drink glass.Old Fashioned was nothing to write home about. We were dining tonight for a birthday dinner. It had been a while since our last visit. This visit was a flash back to why. Our menus came printed Happy Birthday "Mr. Smith." This is not our first rodeo at a steakhouse and something personalized is always pleasing.Let me clarify this too. We fine dine at least once a week as a family. Our children are adults and we continue to dine together just as we did when children.They are knowledgeable regarding a great meal. We ordered the Meatballs and Bacon Scallops as appetizers:The scallops were okay.Kind of dry. The bacon unwrapping from the scallops as they sat there,just short of being cooked enough. THERE WERE ONLY THREE. I mean, typically an appetizer should be even servings for a party consisting of one to two couples/friends/family out dining together, allowing for equal division?! Even if cutting them in halves for larger parties. This also encourages ordering and the sharing of a variety of appetizers somewhat equally. Not so here. Now let's discuss the two slightly large meatballs. They had a strange spongy look when cut and lived up to this in texture when chewed. There was absolutely no flavor other than a slight green pepper aftertaste. I can not eat green peppers and these were lot listed as an ingredient. The inside was rather pink in color for a meatball and I thought it was maybe not cooked through although the waitstaff insisted that it was. The sauce,nothing special. In an attempt to not start negative commentary I said nothing thinking that perhaps it was only me,however,my adult son immediately stated"I feel like I am eating a sponge with a slight green pepper taste ." Well it wasn't just me!The Birthday Boy (BB) would not even take a bite the appearance was just that off.We sent the meatballs back. Let's begin dinner,Lobster Ravioli,Ribeyes medium rare with specialty butter,Cajun Ribeye, Potatoes Au Gratin,Corn Soufflé.The Lobster Ravioli was amazing in a lobster cream sauce with pieces of lobster.Regular Ribeye was cooked to perfection,tender and delish.The Cajun Ribeye was like eating a totally different grade steak.Flavor was good,however, I chewed and chewed a piece but could not completely break down the meat and had to place it on my plate.I will not use the terminology I would like for description, it was like trying to chew a moistened piece of paper;).There was also a significant amount of waste that one could not even cut through left on the BB's plate. I would say about 1/4 of the steak was not edible.*The Cajun Ribeye used to be the reason we dined at Morton's and because we had this same less than positive experience with three steaks at our last visit it took a while for us to decide to come back. This leaves me to wonder if the quality of the marinated steaks are the same as those not marinated?(We purchase only prime beef at home.)The texture and waste was like night and day between the two. Now dessert.They give a dessert menu for the birthday boy. The larger sundae is not included? His diet is gluten free as a choice so most deserts are off the table.We each just ordered the regular deserts to include agreeing to pay for the larger sundae.Sad that a steakhouse like this can not even give a sundae to a BB/BG.The highlight of the meal was the chocolate mousse. The sundae, well there was a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center of the sundae bowl with a little fudge topping and a whole lot of whipped cream covering it all! We have had better at the corner ice cream shop. How difficult is it to serve 4 scallops, make a yummy meatball or offer a good size birthday sundae?We did not even bother to say anything about the steak or the scallops.Our waitress said nada about the amount of red steak left on the BB's plate.No manager even bothered to come to our table.My son surprisingly took no photos. This review is based on my visit on Friday July 3rd, 2020. As my previous review mentioned I had been to this location a few times but my last review was based on takeout - this review is based on my first post-covid dine in experience. We made birthday reservations for 5:00 which is exactly when they open, we showed up at 4:45 unknowing they weren't officially open yet but they seated us immediately. There was nobody in the restaurant except a couple workers. Once seated we were brought menus and normally they have customized menus wishing you a happy birthday or anniversary with your name on it but the waitress apologized she wasn't able to have those right now (we didn't even ask she immediately apologized for it). The menu for food/drinks is EXTREMELY LIMITED. And I mean LIMITED. The food menu is probably 1/3 the normal size and the wine list is almost nonexistent. For wines they barely had any and it was on printer paper stapled in the corner - not exactly the Morton's experience I'm used to - but the food menu looked presentable. They had pretty much no wine, we looked through the 2 pages and couldn't find one we liked before we decided to just ask if they have any bottles in the back (THANKFULLY THEY DID!). Wine is a big part of the dining experience for us, especially birthday's or big celebrations and not having a good wine just ruins it for us, they only had one bottle, we probably would have ordered more had they had more though. All the wine cases around us were practically empty in the dining room as well. Onto the food menu, I took pictures and attached them, where it says MP that's whatever the daily rate is, the rates for everything changes day by day - our waitress told us its usually still cheaper than the regular Mortons menu but I do not like that they can decide today I want to charge $42 for a filet and tomorrow $56 or maybe this person I'll charge them $62... I really do not like that and think it should be changed immediately. They also don't do the large bread loafs anymore, its two small rolls (or however many rolls for people in your party). Now onto the actual meal; the bread was hot and tasted amazing, wasn't dry and was very flavorful with the onion toppings they put on it. For appetizer I had the crab meat cocktail - I hadn't had this before so it was my first time trying it and I must say I think it's better than a shrimp cocktail which is usually my go to for appetizers. The meat looked a little interesting but the cocktail sauce and spicy mustard I believe is what also came with it were very good but the crab by itself was perfectly fine too. My partner doesn't eat fish so I got to have it all for myself! My partner had a Caesar salad appetizer and I stole a few pieces of his parmesan which was really amazing. The salad was... well a Caesar salad but the parmesan really made it great. For dinner we both enjoy Mortons steaks so we each got an 8oz filet (my partner normally gets a NY but the NY was 16oz's which was too much for him tonight). Cooked medium to perfection the steak was absolutely DELICIOUS. I debated on getting a lobster tail but it wasn't twin lobster tails, only one and unfortunately it was pretty expensive compared to the steak so I stuck with a crab appetizer and steak entree and I was not disappointed. For a side we split asparagus - you could have it charred with a balsamic sauce or steamed with hollandaise and we chose the latter. I prefer charred though but because it was my partners birthday I let him choose which he liked best. For desert we ALWAYS get the "Mortons Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake" and its always TO DIE FOR. Comes with haagen daz ice cream on the side too. The cake takes around 20 minutes to prepare so make sure you order in advance. For the wine we had the Muga Rioja Reserva, which we've had before and enjoyed but would've preferred additional options. Our waitress Maura or Mara was absolutely fantastic. She was super accommodating, funny, and we really enjoyed her conversation. She was so knowledgeable and we talked about our love for Alaska, she had been 13 or 18 times I believe she said. She really did a fantastic job, thanks again! The whole ambiance was not the best, it wasn't the true Mortons celebratory dining experience we are accustomed to which was pretty unfortunate and sad, but we also allegedly paid less than a normal Mortons dining experience - not that I think the experience should suffer just because I'm paying less but it does make me feel less bad about it. The place was pretty much dead the whole night, we left around 3 hours later and there was probably 5 maybe 6 other tables seated which we don't mind - gives us less exposure to others. Sad to say I've had two "meh" experiences here, but the food was still very good this time. Next birthday or big celebration I'm sure we'll come back and hopefully it'll be the real Mortons experience. read more

THE GOOD: -The ambiance was great, as was the waitservice. My water glass was never empty, and our waitress was very friendly. -Dinner was leisurely, but not SO leisurely as we were waiting forever for our food. I think we sat down around 6:10pm and left around 8pm. -6 oz. filet mignon steak was delicious, as was the double chocolate mousse for dessert. -THAT ONION ROLL. So good. It comes out hot and fresh, and with a lovely-served butter design. I could eat that all day. THE MEH: -When I walked in, my friend wasn't there yet - I was offered a seat at the bar. I really just wanted to get my table, but didn't want to be rude, so I went and sat over at the bar. -Upselling. I can see being like "would you like a cocktail, how about a [insert drinks here]?" type pitch but we were also asked if we wanted coffee/etc (before dessert) and given like a 3-minute shpiel on the Morton's club you could join ($25 to join but you get a $25 voucher for joining, etc.). Some people might like this (being asked if they want more stuff) but I dislike it. -I had the mashed potatoes as a side, my friend got the broccoli with Panko breadcrumbs and cheese. Both were just okay. I'm a pretty harsh judge of mashed potatoes but I thought the broccoli was just okay too. THE BAD: -For the appetizer, I ordered the house salad. The waitress asked if I wanted the bleu cheese, egg, and anchovies, and I said no, none of those. "So just lettuce?" she asked. I assumed she meant some other standard stuff too (other cheese? tomato? veggies?) so I said yes. Turns out she was correct - it was literally JUST LETTUCE, with some dressing, and I had her add pepper as well. I realize now I probably could have asked for a cheese substitute ... but still, just lettuce?! My friend ordered the caesar salad but I don't like caesar, and the other options were an ahi tuna stack (I don't eat seafood) or baked five onion soup ... perhaps I should have opted for the soup. Overall, I'm glad I got to try Morton's out - you can't beat $35 for a 3-course meal, especially since I saw on the menu that our dessert was normally $13.50, and all the steaks/sides are normally a la carte. However, I kind of wish I tried out Ruth's Chris or a different place ... although I LOVED the ambiance here, the food (other than the steak + the dessert) was just "okay" overall. I may come back for their happy hour at some point (bar only, I believe) but it's not a place I will rush back to. Parking is also valet-only (complimentary) but I am not a huge fan of valet so I parked over near Melting Pot and walked over (about a 1 min. walk). read more

What I experienced and the way I felt it was racist waited almost 2 hours for our food, our reservation was at 2:45 we didn't get our food until 5pm and they weren't super crowded! Our server asked the Caucasian guests at the table next to us if they wanted to move tables which caused a scene because we decided to record because management acted as if they didn't want to handle our concerns and treated us as if we just "WANTED SOMETHING OFF OF THE BILL" and we were being civil not unruly or loud! The food was not up to par, me and one of the other guests in our party had to physically switch steaks because hers was medium rare and she asked for medium well and mine was well done! After we had placed our order she came back 35-40 minutes later to clarify something with our order when we should have received our food by then! It was excellent. My porterhouse ranked up there with the best steaks I've had out in recent years, and the ribeye I tasted was pretty perfect as well. We ordered them medium rare with a more seared/charred exterior (asked for Pittsburgh style). We also got the garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed brussel sprouts. The sides were good, but didn't compare to the steaks. We filled up on the steak and took most of the sides to go. Our waitress was amazing. Very personable and attentive. read more

Never ever had I been in a fine restaurant where I was served a steak that was rewarmed and served to me but that is exactly what occurred! A few days before Christmas we made dinner reservations at Morton's in Troy. Reservations were for Christmas dinner with my family. All that was available was high top at the bar which we accepted. Once we arrived the place was full which was understandable since it was Christmas. We checked in and were told to head to the bar and once any high top table became available to go ahead and seat ourselves. A young lady was cleaning an empty table so we went and sat once she was done. The young lady turned out to be our waitress so we ordered drinks. We waited over 25 minutes for drinks that she went and mixed herself. When she came back with the drinks we decided that we should go ahead and order dinner since it may take a while. We waited over an hour and a half to get our meal. Our food was brought to us but very sad to say that after an hour and a half we were served very COLD steaks. We asked for a manager and the waitress who originally mixed the drinks came to our table to ask what the problem was. We told her we were waiting to speak to a manger. To our surprise she said she was the manager. We explained that all of our food was cold. She did not apologize but said they would bring out new steaks. 10 minutes went by and instead of new steaks we were served the same steaks that we originally sent back. All they did was warm them up a bit and threw them on clean plates. Paid for everything we ordered and never going back again. Unbelievable but that is exactly what happened! Came here the day before Sweetest Day, Friday evening reservation for 6:30pm. When we came in the host greeted us and sat us immediately at the corner booth. Restaurant is very dark, gives a nice romantic & elegant vibe; good for Sweetest day dinner. One of the pricier steakhouses I've been to, but quality of everything was great. Oysters for our appetizer were very fresh and large & the bacon wrapped scallops were divine. Wish we got 4 scallops instead of 3 so it could've been shared better but whatever. Ribeye & Filet were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The cauliflower steak was my favorite side with a nice red pepper sauce. I'd definitely be back for another special occasion just based off the food. My only complaint was my waitress. She was not very good at faking the fact that she hated her job.. it was very obvious she hated what she was doing or was just having a bad day. Very awkward for our dinner... we tried not bothering her but it was still just weird.. every other waiter we encountered was very nice and professional, same with the hosts. Hopefully next time we won't have her... Great restaurant though, definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out at a fancy steakhouse. It took 20 minutes to get bread and water. The appetizer came out RIGHT before the food. Not only was the service extremely slow, the food is completely over priced. It was $20+ for one "jumbo" crab cake... it was only enough for one person. The chicken...... SO flavorLESS! I don't even think they used salt or pepper. My drink had lipstick stains on it, I had to wait for another... THAT took another 20 minutes... the Brussels sprouts were bland. The potatoes were bland. Everything was just BLAND!! It's a kind of flavorful drink included wine, rum, cocktails and evening tequila because don't need to drink that will get to buzzed while driving! This is hands down one of my favorite steakhouses. We come her often and expect excellent service in the dining room and at the bar; we'd give 5 stars every single time. They offer complimentary valet to patrons. Upon entering, you're greeted by a friendly host. Once seated, the server will bring out the famous onion bread and butter. Try not to spoil your dinner with this, it's so so good and comes out hot and fresh. Your server will ask if you want more and they'll keep them coming if you want them. I recommend having a couple bites of it and wait for your dinner. Chances are you're paying quite a bit for it; save room to enjoy your $50 steak instead of the free bread. For dinner, I usually order the lobster bisque soup to start. It's so creamy and full of flavor. I also love the pieces of lobster in it. During the summer months I order the Morton's Salad to start. It's always fresh and flavorful. For dinner, I'll usually order the 8 oz. filet, cooked medium. I've never had to send my steak back, it's cooked to perfection and tastes great. I've tried all of the side items; my favorites are the lyonnaise potatoes, "twice baked" au gratin potatoes, matchstick fries, and you can't go wrong with any grilled/steamed/sautéed veggies. I've never left without a take out box. The portion size of the sides leaves you with plenty to share. Another great thing about Morton's is that they'll customize a menu and take your photo if you have a special occasion. For example, when we came here for my birthday, the menu said "Happy Birthday, Jenny!" and our waiter came over and took our picture. After a couple minutes, he returned with our photo in a black envelope. It's a nice touch and makes the night that much more memorable. Overall, I love this place. I will preface my review by stating that my meal here was paid for. I never once saw a menu with a price on it. And I'm glad I didn't. I think the $$$$ on Yelp is indicator enough that the place ain't cheap. Outside they offer "complimentary" valet. Of course we all know you still have to tip the driver. They did a good job of it and he was friendly and nice to interact with. Inside the décor is wonderful though in my opinion the lighting is too low. The walls are plastered with rustic photographs of Detroit Metal: cars, engines, gears, machinery. It added to that clearly rugged and "masculine" feel of the place. (Where else can I go get a manly brew and 72 ounce steak while looking at cars and talking to the CEO of some important company?) All that's cool if you don't feel like it's just...overdone. And that's not even meant to be a steak pun. On that note, the steaks are flawlessly on-point. I ordered mine medium and it was cooked to perfection and lightly seasoned. No need to douse these in A1. In fact doing so would be practically a crime. Everything else they did basically ranged from sub-par to suck. They have to get their side-game together! Large asparagus were cooked properly but had zero seasoning. Not even a dash of salt and pepper. The "scalloped" potatoes - more like large chunks of potato - were coated in melted cheese. Again no salt or pepper. They were just...lacking anything special about them. (Were they simply trying to emphasize the goodness of the steak here?) The Caesar salad was simply that. The hors d'oeuvres were also just "okay" - the baguette on one was perhaps overdone and crunchy to the point of hurting your mouth. Waitstaff was mediocre. As friendly as they could be considering our large party however incredibly forgetful. More than once a colleague ordered something that just never came out and once an order was delivered to the wrong person. Also, the beer list was unfortunately lacking. Why couldn't they just provide more local brews? Instead of so many big-beer-company brews? In the end, I imagine they're not particularly bothered by the bad press. I was always under the impression that this was the top of all steak houses. i had a center cut filet, some broccoli sides, potatoes and a chopped salad, standard steak dinner fare. The steak was well done, nicely, but beyond asking for A-1, it just didn't have enough kick or flavor for me to really say it was good, just average. We had the WORST DINNER EXPERIENCE at this location. A celebration dinner that took over 4 hours to be served (9 guests). Guests left before dessert was served. We had a 6:30 dinner reservation and salads were served at 8:45. My meal needed salt and pepper as it had zero flavor, but was served at the correct temperature. We expressed our dis-satisfaction to the manager who didn't do anything for us. He didn't even offer to comp desserts for a meal that was over $1000.00. I wrote a letter to the corporate office and never heard back from them. I guess they simply don't care about their guests. This place deserves MINUS 5 stars. Came here for a work function so I can't really comment on the regular service and general ambiance. I will say our servers were very polite, friendly, and did their best to keep our drinks refreshed without disturbing our presenters. The 4 other people at my table ordered the filet mignon along with myself. All our steaks were consistently cooked a shade under what was ordered, my medium rare was rare, the medium was medium rare, etc. This alone didn't bother me but the biggest problem was that the steaks were grossly under-seasoned and the sear/caramelization was minimal so it tasted like eating steamed meat. Definitely not what I expected from an expensive steak restaurant. The sides of blanched broccoli and watercress were equally bland and mushy. The key lime cheesecake was OK, it actually tasted homemade with real key limes but the balance was off. It had a punch of tang but needed a little more creaminess to give it a smoother finish. Overall I'm glad I only had to pay for my steak by listening through a work presentation because anything more would have been ridiculous. Definitely will not be coming back. read more

Terrible experience, food was lukewarm, steak had no seasoning -I order a 16oz steak cooked medium. It was uneven cooked and the sides of Gouda and bacon potatoes (was great) and Brussel sprouts!! It took a long time approx 45mins before being served our food. The bathrooms were filthy and had no paper towel. To be fine dining it was not up to 4 star standard. The manager never visited our table, I had to ask for a manager once he arrived I expressed my displeasure with service food and lack of care from management to ck on clients. We did receive free dessert but even that (key lime pie). As for Covid safety protocol they allowed people to stand close and crowd the doorway-what would have been better is allow people to return to their cars once ck'd in. First experience under duress circumstances from a neighboring restaurant and it couldn't have been any better! First, they took our 9pm call for a last minute reservation for 9. We headed over within five minutes and we're greeted by a smiling and polite vallets, hostess and manager. Our party ordered drinks at the bar and before we could even take a sip our table was ready. As soon as we were seated, amazing warm bread, whipped butter and water was provided. Next, Jerry our server came over with yet again a fabulous disposition and smiling face. He welcomed us and explained the menu and the ordering process. Since this was double birthday dinner we were informed right away that a free desert would be provided - and it wasn't whipped cream with a candle - airy chocolate mouse or key lime pie (the neighboring restaurant told us nothing would be provided - seriously?) To my disbelief, a woman from another table walked over and showed us a meal special available on the website. She said - I see the size of your party and figures this was a great deal to feed your family with a better price tag. So awesome - good people are still out there. Boy was she right - I got the filet, lobster tail, salad and hot chocolate cake for $64. It was AMAZING! Filet is really the only steak I will ever eat and in all my years I have never had one that tasted like this - what the hell have I been eating?! The rest of our party had all positive feedback on the food and amazing service. Brussels sprouts, au gratin potatoes, fresh cut fries, chicken Christopher, chopped salad and bone in prime rib was top notch! To end the evening, the hostess came over and took two family photos, printed them and put them in a very nice black folder with the date and happy birthday. How awesome! It was a great ending to a very spoiled experience and ruined birthday dinner . We can't thank All the staff we encountered enough for providing such A+ service. This was my first visit to Morton's and it was great! We came on a Tuesday evening. It was not busy at all which was actually nice. Our server was new but he was really great. Wasn't intrusive and gave us time to decide and spend with each other. I got a sangria and my husband got an old fashioned, both great. We started with escargot which was really nice and light each piece topped with a little puff pastry. The bread that comes with dinner is ENORMOUS. It was a huge onion roll that was served hot! My husband ordered the veal chop and I had a mixed grill. Although my mixed grill tasted great his veal chop was phenomenal. I was a little upset I didn't order that lol. We ordered the Gouda and bacon au gratin potatoes and onion rings. The potatoes were ok but the onion rings were hand battered. Fresh and so delicious!! We had to skip dessert however cuz we were way too full! We will be back though! read more

So, Morton has always been our go to place to celebrate special occasions. Have been going to the Troy location for 30 yrs. Saturday night we went again and Im thinking maybe for the last time. One of my wife's favorites it the tuna poke app. She only takes a bite and then requests a box for the rest, as she likes to finish it the next day for lunch. When she asked to have it boxed, our server, Johnathon complied and offered to put it in the fridge till we were ready to go. Nice touch! One of my favorites is French Onion soup and I really fancy the Laionaise potatoes. The soup was close to uneatable with no flavor and the cheese on top was sub par. When my potatoes arrived they were unrecognizable. Huge chunks of cubed potatoes that were obviously deep fried and didnt even come close to what I have been served here many times before. Wifes sea bass was good as was my ribeye. Again we asked to have the left overs boxed and not to forget the tuna poke in the fridge. John came back with the bill and the boxed items in a nice bag. We paid the bill and headed home. The topper was...the poke was not in the bag. John had forgot to put it in. So after a 300$, after tip, bill I looked back at what I received for my money. Although it's very expensive, it is worth it. The food is great! The staff is very attentive! Our waiter was great! (I wish I remembered his name!) He was very friendly and didn't skip a beat! They asked us if we were celebrating anything, and we were celebrating our Anniversary, so we told them. They took a photo of us, printed it and put it is a nice little card. They also gave us a free dessert. The sides are big enough to share, so I do suggest sharing them. The only negative thing I have to say is the Wagyu Meatballs weren't anything special. Wish we didn't order those, especially with them being $18.00. Other than that, everything was great! read more
