Interesting to note: my friends who have always frequented Mos No. 2 (and continue to do so) recommended my asking for extra sides of Tapatio and teriyaki sauces in order to either compensate for the weak teriyaki flavor, or to camouflage the burn...or both. Well, I did. And they were right. It did both, kind of. Regardless, what could go wrong with asking for extra Tapatio hot sauce, right? Overall, Mos No. 2 was alright. I doubt that I would return though, and that is simply because I am not especially fond of teriyaki to begin with. Given options, I would assuredly choose otherwise. But I suppose if one was looking for a quick, easy, and affordable "Mexi-teriyaki" bowl--one without much integrity and pageantry--Mos No. 2 would oblige. The only place worse for teriyaki chicken than Mos No 2 in Anaheim is Mos No 2 in Santa Ana. Their chicken is burnt. All I could taste in the chicken was charcoal. The rice was mushy. They give you plenty of teriyaki sauce and Tapatio to cover up the taste of charcoal. Sorry, but, Sriracha is better for covering up the charcoal taste. I hate Waba and Flamebroiler. Mos 2 has always been there for me whenever I was hungry and didn't wanna spend too much cash. Speaking of which, that's all they take. Just cash. No plastic. I would say its 50/50 that I give in based on what I know is for dinner at home. Prices are very good. For under 10 bucks, what I mentioned above can be shared by two people. I used to frequently visit here when I was working in the hood. I used to work in Santa Ana by Edinger and Main and there was also a Mos. It tasted exactly the same. At this location, they have a bit more selection like pork and oysters. I usually just get my combo, the beef and chicken teriyaki. They do it well here, skin and all. Charred to a nice crisp. The beef is tender and tho a bit salty for my taste, you cannot beat what you get for $6.50 in this area. Horchata is a bit watered down here, refills are only $ 0.50. Sometimes the taste of the food taste a bit like gas, but if you can get pass through that, it is not so bad. There is a parking lot here, you can only enter if you are driving east bound immediately pass the freeway. So I have been going here for years, It's typically a great place, but nowadays they are hurt by the economy so they have been selling their "chicken" meat by replacing it with mostly chicken skin that they grill. I have proof in pictures. I just got food today 2/10/11. They gave me two pieces of actual meat, and the rest of the chicken portion was all skin. I would understand if I didn't say "all meat please" but how do you serve someone almost all skin to eat? The past two 2 times I did not check it until I got to work. I told them and they said they would correct the issue. I take it to work and when I open it there is no dressing on top but in between bites there is the damn dressing. Mos is an Orange County favorite and if you live in the OC, especially Anaheim, and haven't tried it yet then you aren't really living the OC. This location particularly happens to be my favorite. I recently went and enjoyed the warm So Cal breeze as I ate my chicken teriyaki plate. I ordered the plate chicken with skin because the chicken is slightly crispy. The servings are plenty and if uou dont want a full plate that comes with a side salad, a dumpling and egg roll, then you have three bowl sizes to choose from.
