Sushi was very fresh. I like that they offer a lunch special with six pieces of sushi and a cut roll. Check out their happy hour, 2-5 pm ... good sushi & carpaccio deals then.

This is the 3rd time back on a Saturday afternoon & ofc hubby & I had to order the omakase again bc we enjoy it that much. Can't beat the price either for the quality of the fresh fish. The portion size is perfect too just I like mentioned in my previous review. They serve HH starting at 2pm on weekends so we've been coming in around this time bc drinks are cheaper. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is never packed around this time which is nice bc then service is efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will be back again.

Excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant in an average sized strip mall. The food was excellent and the seafood was so fresh. I highly recommend going off their daily recommendations board for their fresh seafood. Plenty of parking Food/Drink- 5 stars Ordered a variety of nigiri, but my favorites were their bellies, the golden eye snapper, and the sea bass. Also ordered the fried oysters and yellowtail collar which were fresh and full of flavor (pretty large yellowtail collar as well). The Aomori squid was really flavorful as well. Everything washed down well with their Orion beer on draft! Service- 5 stars Food was out quickly and servers were great. Great experience all around Bottom Line [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant that has all the classics.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely be back

Honestly, it was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the fish. We actually travel to Japan just to eat sushi so typically I have low expectations. However, this restaurant is actually up there with the quality of fish as well as the preparation. Everything was good although I think that their Black cod could use a little bit of help when it comes down to the miso cause it was a little bit salty. The service was really, really, really good. I didn't think it would be an upscale restaurant, but it is on the more upscale side in comparison to other sushi. Service was good and they stay attentive and everything was good. We also ordered karaage and tempura, which were also good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's nice and not crowded and there's a good amount of space would definitely be back again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Yagi was amazing! My partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner wanting some delicious sushi, and this was both of our first time dining here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is casual and the restaurant is more on the intimate side based on how small it is. It is very clean inside and in my opinion was the perfect spot for a little date night after a long day out and about.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sushi was super fresh and high quality -- We got the chef's omakase for $75 and thought it was a great value. There wasn't a single piece of nigiri we didn't like. Everything was well-balanced and delicious. I enjoyed the way the rice was cooked as well. My favorites of the omakase were the butterfish, black cod, and of course my all time favorite-- toro. I sat at the bar and got to chat with one of the chefs, who was so kind and welcoming. He even shared where some of the fish was sourced from, and it's clear they go through great efforts to bring in only the highest quality. You can really taste the difference. I do wish the omakase included uni, but we just ordered it separately for $20 (2 pieces), which I feel is very fairly priced. The chef mentioned that their uni is shipped directly from the Japan for the highest quality. It was absolute delectable and I would order this again every time to satisfy my uni needs. I used to love going to Ohshima for the value, but truthfully, i prefer Yagi so much more for the quality, price, and experience. I will 10000% be back. Highly recommend coming here for an omakase that's both high quality and fairly priced!

Excellent food, but dishonest management and zero professional courtesy. I have been a repeat customer at Yagi and have always praised their sushi as some of the best in Anaheim. We even brought an international guest here to show off the quality. However, our recent experience was appalling--not because of the food, but because of a total lack of integrity from management. We ordered the black miso cod, which arrived extremely salty. We politely informed the server and asked to replace it with tempura. There was no apology at the time, nor were we told the cod would remain on the bill. When the check arrived, we were still charged for it. The manager (who was also serving due to being short staffed) refused to remove the charge, claiming we had eaten "more than half." This was flatly untrue. We each took a bite, realized it was inedible, and sent it back with the vast majority of the fish still on the plate. To be clear, our bill was $170, so this isn't about the money. It is about the principle of being charged for a dish that was sent back nearly untouched. What's even more upsetting is after we left, I called the restaurant to calmly ask for the manager's name to follow up. I was hung up on the first time. When I finally got through the second time, the staff refused to give me a name, insisted that I spell my name first, and then hung up on me again. It is a shame that such high-quality food is overshadowed by a management team that is comfortable being dishonest about portions and cowardly enough to hang up on a customer. We won't be returning.

Such a bummer-portions are so much smaller. They rush you out to turn the table. I like to drink wine and take my time. We were eating and drinking the whole time but they hurry you out. The chef special is now served all at once vs one at a time. I use to be a regular but unfortunately after the 4th time of disappointment, we are not returning. Decided to order take out and portions were so small.

Such a huge fan of this neighborhood goodie. Service and quality are always 5 star. Fish is always super fresh and high quality. Service is always the best.

I came here on a Saturday passing town. Though unassuming from the outside, given such a secluded area for a restraunt away from all the bustling noise of the city, its quite nice and relaxing inside. There wasn't many others in the restraunt, which I'm not surprised seeing as it was still pretty early in the day. Service was kind, fast, and friendly. Now the food. It was great! Rich in flavor and honestly different than the usual Japanese restaurants I've gone to. I tried the Jellyfish, which came in a light sweet sweet pickled sauce, reminiscent of eel sauce however much lighter. If you've never tried it I'd say it's texture is firm and somewhat crunchy. The nodoguro, is light and buttery as they say. Melts in your mouth and with just a touch of soy sauce it elevates the tastes of this not so common fish. I must say though the garlic steamed clams was my favorite. It was a perfect balance of flavors, not overwhelmed with garlic but just enough to compliment the nutty flavors within the broth. To top it off I went with a classic go to lemon salmon roll, with delicately sliced lemons on top. To finish off my meal I ordered jumai ginjo, to help bring the fullness feeling down. This sake really is a safe choice if you're new and not a typical fan. Glad I came in, I'll definitely be back

Everything here was so good. I made last minute reservations with ease. The parking was abundant, the interior and vibes felt like we were in Japan (and we've been to Japan). The service was quick and attentive. The fish was fresh, the tempura was crispy, the matcha panna cotta was so smooth. I dream of the black cod and the next time I can have it again.

Very good sushi. They are very strict on the lunch menu and happy hour times. We had 1 minute to order a bento box or they would not do it. They also could not wait to prepare it once we ordered it and wait for the rest of the party to arrive. So my mother had to eat before us and then wait for us to get our food and eat.

It complemented with the Bonchon so well I kept going back for more. You can change the level of spice. I made mine spicy, and it was perfect for my pallet not too salty, which is accommodating to my pallet as well. Chicken Jikhwa - 4/5 was more on the sweeter side due to the caramelized onion, but overall the flavor was on plate. I really like how it was packed with flavor and with the tofu soup, it balanced each other very well since it's more overpowering with flavor than the tofu soup. The only thing I wish it was served on is a cast-iron plate or something to keep the meat, hot or warm longer lasting. I just love eating the Bonchon along with this because it gave a pickled and acidic complement.

Once the whole party was seated & our order was taken, we received our delicious ginger salad and miso soup quickly. When our chef arrived he was ready to put on a show! He was so fun, engaging and very genuine. All of the food was amazing. I got the filet mignon steak w/ fried rice and my husband gets the sumo steak. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. The drinks are affordable and compared to other teppanyaki places, the food is affordable and absolutely worth it. 3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.
