It was just what I was hoping for! The two of us split a #5 (with an extra spring roll) which was chicken teriyaki, fried shrimp, white rice, a spring roll and a small salad. The meat was tender and seasoned well atop tender and deliciously clumped white rice that came with plenty of extra sauce for those who want a stronger flavor, binding it all together nicely. A crunchy coating surrounded the tasty shrimp that went well with the rest of the dish. The spring roll was a treat - crispy and filled with green cabbage. The salad had a delicate flavor which I appreciated in contrast to the robust flavors from the meat and sauce. Everything was tasty, affordable and fast. The service was friendly, too:). This is not a fancy restaurant so don't expect table service or anything. The food is really good. I wish i could give half a star less because the egg rolls are not really good. There's about 10 community tables outside with umbrellas. You order and take a seat and they'll call your #. If you're hungry- the food smell will make it worse because the aroma will make your mouth water like no other! I ordered a large chicken teriyaki bowl $7- Rice and a ton of chicken- they had two extra teriyaki sauce in the bag and the two different options of hot sauce station nearby. The chicken was cooked to perfection- juicy and smokey! I had the 1/2 half for lunch the next day and it was still delicious! There's an option to add more meat $3 extra or seafood $4 extra. I agree with the review below that described the area as sketchy. And take my word for it! I used to live behind Mos 2! Luckily I moved out of the area but unforunately, I really really miss Mos 2 & the nearby taqueria El Triunfo for cheap eats and refreshing tamarindo. Everything about Mos 2 is wow. The ghetto-ness of the area, wow. The speediness of the food, wow. The smoky taste of everything charbroiled, wow. The fried gyoza, wow. The indigestion that follows eating too much Mos 2 too quickly, wow. I once ate Mos 2 twice a week for four weeks. I couldn't eat Mos 2 for another 5 months after that because the flavors are so intense that after subjecting myself to repeated assault of teriyaki sauce, hot sauce, perfectly cooked rice and meat...my body and mind needed a break. You can take a girl out of the sketchy part of Anaheim, but you can't take away her cravings for legit cheap eats. I miss you Mos! read more

4.5 not in terms for all restaurants but if you're comparing it to the likes of Waba Grill or Flame Broiler, I would choose Mos No 2 every time (unless all banks are closed and I don't want to get charged an ATM fee- they only accept cash). The rice here is what makes me a fan, they cook it just right where the rice is optimal to absorb all of the goodness from the protein you select- don't bother with the fried shrimp option. I have had the chicken and beef and the chicken has consistently been the tastier of the two. I think the plate also comes with salad and an egg roll - very affordable lunch/dinner when you're on the run. They don't stiff on sauce so be prepared when you say yes to it. Who knows what "MOS" actually means, but all I know is that it's "MOS GOOD." This place puts Flame Broiler or any other teriyaki joint to shame. My co-worker introduced me to the MOS phenomenon and I've been hooked ever since. If you ignore the sketchy location and brush up on your Español, you'll be rewarded with a heaping pile of protein served on a bed of rice. Just make sure you know which pocket your wallet is in after you order. It's enough food to serve a small family of 3, or good for leftovers the next day. The meat is already packed with flavor, but make sure to ask for extra teriyaki or hot sauce, as the containers are pretty small. The teriyaki sauce is a little thick and sweet, and it rolls out nice and slow onto your food. I recently got the beef and chicken combination plate, which also comes with a side of salad and surprisingly, 1 potsticker and 1 egg roll. There's a little Chino influence for ya. One of the best teriyaki joints I've ever been to. Seriously. Wife used to work in the area and got take out here all the time. I was instantly hooked! My friends, I give you the Teriyaki bowl. The super-sized, bastard-ized, American-ized version familiar to those that live in Godzilla-free zones probably has as much to do with the Pacific Rim as Lindsay Lohan has to do with the Betty Ford Clinic, but that's irrelevant; they can be damn tasty. While simple in execution...rice, with meat and sauce layered on top...there are still plenty of variables that can make it either a gastronomic orgasm (gastrasm?), or an epic fail on the level of Eddie Murphy's recent movie career, the "Shrek" franchise notwithstanding. Rice quality...it's gotta be sticky, to soak up meat juices and sauce without falling apart...is paramount. And meat quality is the other obvious critical factor. After seeing Mos 2 was on the way home from a recent Angels game, and highly rated, I decided to swing by for a dinner to-go. It's a little hole in the wall, and in fact I missed the main driveway for the place, and ended up parking in the mini-market lot next door. Walking up to the counter, you've got the standard array of bowls and combos. Wanting to keep it simple, I opt for a beef and chicken combo plate. After a few minutes of waiting...and being mad-dogged by one of the local homeboys hanging in front of the market...I get my teriyaki, and hustle back to the relative safety of my ride, and the 5 Freeway. Getting home, I grab a bottle of green tea, and crack open the hefty styrofoam container to see what I've got. First impression was nice - thick layer of rice, and an equally hearty layer of thinly-sliced beef and chicken on top, garnished with chopped green onions. The extra compartments held a simple green salad, along with a gyoza and eggroll. Starting with the salad, it was a basic green salad with a pool of a creamy, cloyingly-sweet, Asian-inspired dressing at the bottom. Not sure what was going on with that, but after a few bites, I'd had enough...just too much dressing for my tastes. That, and I couldn't decipher what the eff it was. Sesame, ranch, sesame ranch, or ??? Moving on to the gyoza and eggroll, nothing spectacular; just your standard-issue, two-bite and you're done appetizers. Moving to the main event, I drizzle on a couple containers of the supplied teriyaki sauce, and dive in. The rice is nice and sticky, holding its own against the sauce, but the meat fell short. While the beef was nice and thin, it was tough and dry; indeed, I was spitting out little bits of gristle every couple of minutes. While I don't expect Kobe-quality beef at a take-out joint, I was expecting a bit better. The chicken didn't wow me either; fatty bird, with more skin than the Christmas issue of Hustler, but none of its enjoyable qualities. And above all, I noticed no grill marks, or little smoky bits of char, that help give a good teriyaki plate extra flavor. Come to think of it, I didn't see or smell a noxious pall of grill smoke spewing from the place, leading me to believe they cook their meat on a griddle. If that's the case, sacrilege. About the only thing I enjoyed were the sticky rice and the green onion. Even the teriyaki sauce left me cold - a bit on the salty side, it reminded me more of a thick soy sauce, with none of the tangy sweetness I expect. I don't mean to sound too harsh, but I wasn't too wowed with Mos 2. Service was ok for a take-out place, but the food, not so much. I might give Mos 2 another chance the next time I'm in the area, but unless they wow me, I'll burn the gas and head to LBC for some Rascals. Yeah, I'm spoiled. read more

I almost never give reviews when I haven't eaten the food, but I did this time, so take this review with a grain of salt. I put in an order to go about 15 minutes before they closed. I gave my name and told them I'd be there shortly. This place is CASH ONLY, so I stopped by the bank atm. I arrived 3 minutes after they close, and the guy at the counter refused to serve me. I told them I had placed the order in advance, but I was told that I couldn't get my order because I didn't arrive before they closed. I asked if they had the food and he said they didn't have anything. So either they made it and some employee started eating it / took it home OR they never made the food in the first place. Either way, since most of my dining experiences are take out, I probably won't take the chance that my to go order is neglected again. Plenty of other teriyaki places in town. If it's close to closing time, I wouldn't recommend risking your dinner on this place. read more

Mos No 2 is a hot spot for teriyaki and especially this one. Its near Anaheim High School. Its almost always crowded. They ended up raising their price which is super lame but i guess it is what it is. As for the food, we got a #1 which is an all chicken white steamed rice, salad, gyoza, and egg roll. The egg roll did change and they have a good taste, the major upside is that it got bigger and longer. The chicken is nice and juicy not to burned like the other mos places. This one is my favorite location because they are consistent all the time with their flavoring. The rice is just steamed rice so you cant really judge them for that. The salad is a mixed green salad with a sauce for the dressing. My sister and my brother in law got the # 4 which is the same as above but half and half chicken/beef. The beef looked soooo good. Same thing juicy and flavorful. Another cool thing about this spot is that they are not stingy with their sauces. The guy hooks you up. Gobs and Gobs of Teriyaki sauce and hot sauce. Sure the place looks like a dump, but it has the best chicken bowl in Orange County. The neighborhood isn't THAT bad. Go visit South Central or the Tenderloin if you think Anaheim Colony is so terrible. The way I explain it to people is "Mexican Teriyaki." The chicken has a smokiness and char that is missing from your run-of-the-mill chicken bowls. Their sauce is a bit sweeter as well, but really freakin' good. I always get the #5, which is rice, chicken, three fried shrimp, one dumpling, one egg roll and salad. The chicken to rice ratio is absurd as they give you a TON of chicken. In fact, I usually have a nice lunch for the next day because I eat everything except for 2/3 of the rice and chicken. It tastes pretty damn good the next day as well. Also, they must put crack in that salad dressing because it is the best dressing I have ever had. I have asked to buy a bottle of it, but they guys working there just laugh at me. They make it themselves there from a super-secret recipe that was passed down to them by magical elves or something. MOS 2 easily gets the 5 star treatment. Great food, great value. When I was working two jobs, and didn't have time to cook for myself, I would eat here at least 3 times a week and wouldn't get tired of it. First of all, THIS NEIGHBORHOOD IS NOT THAT GHETTO!!! Its not even scary. Its right across the street from a high school in a very good neighborhood. Sure its not beverly hills, but its a great neighborhood and i call it home. Second, hands down the best terriyaki outside of hawaii. The portions are large, especially for the price. I been going here for many years. I like there #2 plate or there #1 plate. The #1 plate is there chicken/beef plate w/salad, egg roll, and gyzo. The #2 is the same, but it's all beef. I never had any problems with the food. I think it's excellent and good tasting. I just wish they would accept credit/ATM cards. You have to make sure you have cash. The portions are good. Have I had better asian chicken and beef bowls? Probably, but this place is very good and at least on par wIth the better asian take outs in the area. The meats are nicely charred as charbroiled is supposed to be. What really makes this place stand out is the portions to price ratio, especially in the meat department. I paid $7.25 for a beef chicken plate with salad, egg roll, and pot sticker. The meat to rice ratio was like 2 to 1 and they give you a gob of food, which is great! Mexicans run this joint and offer Tapatio hot sauce which works well with the teriyaki sauce. BTW, the neighborhood is not that bad. When my parents ask me where I want to go eat, they almost are afraid that I will answer Moss 2. It's a grimy place located in the old part of Anaheim and right next to several houses from the 1950's and is always spewing out that delicious teriyaki smell. That's all they serve, and that's what you come for. Comes either in beef or chicken, on top of rice. There's also fish and shrimp, but the teriyaki is their signature dish. I don't get the rave reviews. Just had the teriyaki beef and it tasted like recooked left over steak. Thin and so dry they gave us 10 of the teriyaki ramekins for two plates. They know! The salad dressing was unidentifiable. Looks like lard and tastes slightly sweet. I'll pass on that. Also, CASH only place with an ATM on site. And each time I don't like it, but then months go by and I forget how bad it was, so I convince myself it will taste better this time lol It dsnt help that when I go on yelp, so many ppl r giving it great reviews. I keep thinking it must be the cook that I get, but every time? Idk. The chicken is always burnt, not charbroiled. The rice is nothing special. And the teriyaki sauce is bland...even when I put 4 containers of it in my bowl, it wasn't that good. I end up never eating the meat, and just eat teriyaki soaked rice (which isn't that good) Yoshinoya is so much better.
