Was truly disappointed at lunch today here at Mo's. We ordered drinks first. Had to send my coke back twice because it tasted terrible. Mt fiancé asked what's on tap. She recited the list but every time he made a choice she'd say it's not working. Why not tell us that before hand? He finally picked something bottled. Waitress said our beer glass was chilled which it was not. Our garlic bread was over toasted and on the burnt side. My fries were completely over cooked and were practically burnt. I couldn't eat them. We ordered onion rings as a side and she brought us out soup. The bacon on my BLT was obviously from this morning. Just disappointed. Here's a breakdown for you: Demographics - 65 and above. No joke. Food - Cheap and surprisingly good - Get the house special - choice of beef or turkey with au jus. I came here from a suggestion on Reddit. So, I must try all these places in Playa del Rey. I would say this is disappointing, the food was alright, but the waitress was a little on the rude side. Quite an interesting hole in the wall bar with a larger than expected menu. We had our company Christmas party here and they were very accommodating. They could be a place that is mobbed every night if they spent a few days scrubbing down the place from floor to ceiling and especially the fans. That and a few improvements in how they display food for groups. The put out a great spread for our group but some were hesitant to each some of it because of how it was put out. For instance, they had ceviche in a stainless steel vat that must have held 2 gallons of it. Those brave enough to dig in said it was very good. Just displaying that in smaller dishes would have made a huge difference to many. The service was excellent. You ask for something, they went out of there way to get it for you. Drinks were served quickly and no one in our group was every thirsty. Drink quality was good and mixed properly. The food that was out was good. They had sliced steak, chicken and shrimp, again, served in huge containers. I have no idea how many pounds of shrimp was out there but it was good. If you're squeamish about clean places, this one isn't for you. If you're okay with a little seediness and enjoy a good drink and decent food, then you're in luck. Enjoy! read more

We just happened to stumble across this place. I love it. I had nice patio seating up front and nice patio seating in the back great we sat in the patio seating in the back. They actually had sailor Jerry which most places don't which is my favorite run. The tune amount was really good great the steak sandwich was incredible. And are Waitress Dasha Was on point. she was great my drink was never empty and she was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. TL:DR Bad food, meh service, fight broke out close to our table Where to begin? Party of 3, we were seated in their outdoor tent area right away - around 7:30 on a Fri. Waitress said they were busy and food would take a while. No problem. Took over an hour to receive food which was quite a bit longer than expected even with the warning. Would have been nice to have been offered bread or chips or something to tide us over in the meantime. Waitress disappeared for a long time so it took 45 minutes to get a refill. But again, she did warn us they were busy. I ordered fish n' chips, substituted fries and coleslaw for baked potato. About an hour after ordering was told they ran out of baked potatoes. But I did end up getting the last potato. It was good. The two pieces of fish were sizeable, lots of breading. The fish was soggy and flavorless. I don't know how to explain it. I took a bite of each piece and didn't eat any more. No one asked whether I liked the dish and no comments even as the plate with the fish still on it was taken away. I probably would have commented myself but at that point I was freezing and ready to go. Then a loud argument broke out behind me and just as fists seemed about to fly some people interceded. One of the men was asked to leave. A small dog ran toward us during the hubbub. One of the men was yelling about his dog and I told him he was by us. Got his dog and left. I saw a waitress tell another person (bouncer?) to make sure that he doesn't come back. He came back about 5 minutes later but stayed at the periphery. I was surprised none of the waitstaff nor a manager came over to our table to acknowledge the fight. Is this normal? Got the check. If you have Apple pay you can scan and pay using your phone. It didn't work for me due to one of my settings. Didn't feel like changing the setting so just left cash. Came home hungry and disappointed. read more

These people literally steal $ from you! It has happened to me TWICE. Double check these charges online after your purchase and you'll see that your tip will double or triple. There should be NO charge if I left my tip in cash. Food quality is poor. I order a Mexican eggs dish for Christmas brunch which came out tasting like dog food. I could not eat more than 1 bite and after I told the waitress (Love), I was allowed to replace it with French Toast. Believe it or not, it took more than 40 minutes and was served COLD. Beyond disappointed, I simply asked to wrap my food to go. Once I got home, all of the food on my place was NOT placed in the container. SMFH. That's some bullcrap... I've NEVER been in an establishment before where I've been told that I can't discuss particular topics, except perhaps once in Communist Vietnam. Jan Jan Jan, we had a ball and it's all thanks to you! So me and my auntie had tickets to go watch our teams (MIA vs SD) play each other at Sofi this past Sunday but we opted out and decided to hit a sports bar/lounge/ restaurant with family. We were going to do Sharkeez it was more familiar with the beach scenery. But my auntie suggested Mo's. Safe to say we found a new place to watch Football on Sundays. The service from Jan was unmatched, magical, natural and just the best! They don't make em like Jan anymore. Great Clcustomer service is a hard thing to come by. I've been meaning to write this review but I've lost track of time since Sunday but Jan has been on all of our minds since then. We even got to talk to Mo! Looks like the diviest bar in Playa from the outside, but in actuality is probably the most inviting. The food is great, and not just great for "bar food", but great for any food. I really liked this place in the beginning of the pandemic it was nice to have an outside brunch place to go have mimosas. And it appeared like they were revamping the place w new managers or investors? I hadn't been back in probably 6 months but invited my friend out to lunch here but warned her this is not your nice frill type joint, but the food is good. Didn't know we also would have terrible service. We literally were served food before we even got our drinks. No one ever checked on us and we basically sat there in hopes at some point the waitress would check in. The waitress forgot to bring the girl sitting at the table next to us her food. (Can't make this up) at least we were able to laugh at how awful the service is? They also went up on their prices, food is good but not that good. I love their Buffalo wings, potato skins, and my all-time favorite Mo's burger with mushroom, Swiss cheese, and avocado. Because I'm a fan of beer and football, I've been to my share of sports bar. I enjoy the trendy, sleek modern sports bar to the local, dingy dive ones. They each have their unique appeal. On any given Sunday, I am usually out and about somewhere watching the game. Mo's Place has a roughness to it, but it's unpretentious, low key, and real. The bartenders and servers are friendly, but not always efficient. The patrons are the average joe shomes. It's an easy, no-nonsense place to watch the game and eat and drink an affordable price. Plus, they have $2 mimosas specials for Sunday brunch! The downsides: 1) The TVs need to be a tad bit bigger,esp the ones on the back wall across from the bar. 2) The food: While the portions are generous, I didn't care too much for the food I've ordered. Their huevous ranchero were dry and bland. I like them on the saucier side. Their eggs benedict had the saltiest slice of ham that I had the misfortune of eating. It completely ruined the dish. Plus their home fries were soggy. A 3) Although the servers are friendly, they're not always on top of their game. I think it maybe due to the fact they're under staffed? We were visiting Playa Del Rey for my mother's birthday, on our 1st night Hubby and I decided to venture out on our own. We had yelped a few places within walking distance of the beach house we were staying at, and the closet place was Mo's. Mo's is a straight dive bar. Random stuff on the walls, mismatch table and chairs, staff are sweet but they look like they have had long lives. But unlike many Dive's this place has some real food!! Lamb chops, filet mignon, plus the bar specialties like chicken fingers and fries. And of course Hubby ordered a basket of fries and chicken tenders. Both very tasty! This a terrific local hangout that has a pretty cool vibe so close to the ocean. They have pretty good food and beer specials and I've always had a fun time here whether watching a game or meeting friends for drinks. One of my favorite dive bars on the westside, you can come as you are and know you'll have a great experience every time. On occasion, you can meet Mo and he's really a character--in a good way. The staff and service are unpretentious and friendly. The clientele is interesting and diverse making the atmosphere chill. Parking can be tight at certain times, but I've always found a spot. After finishing up dinner at Cantalini's my friends and I decided to get our birthday boy a drink at a bar before he headed home so we ended up at Mo's across the street from Cantalini's. The security guard was pretty nice as he checked our ID's and banded our wrists with a paper bracelet. The inside is pretty reminiscent of your typical sports bar. It's not very modern but I found that to be okay as I don't need my bars to be super luxurious. I just need a place to hang. A few of my friends had to take things to their cars so just three of us sat down at a large table. I noticed other patrons eating food which looked like your typical bar food. Upon looking around I saw TV's, pool and other games. A waitress took our order immediately and got us drinks. Gradually two friends who had entered the bar and went directly to the bar to catch some game scores came and sat at our table with drinks. Then shortly the remainder of our friends came to sit at the table. The waitress returns and in a not so polite manner tells everyone that this is her table and that we need to order drinks from her and not at the bar. My friends were really offended by her tone as if they had did something wrong by going to the bar to check out game scores and talking to the bartender. My other friends who just sat down were offended as well. Even I, who had a drink was offended. We would have sat there for a long time and ordered several more drinks and this waitress would have gotten a big tip on all the drinks we would have ordered but instead we finished up the drinks we had and then left. No one really felt like staying there after that kind of behavior. Boo. read more
