Once this business started to expand with new locations along the Coast, the food quality and value went downhill steep and fast. Mo's is no longer a family restaurant, but instead just another fast-casual diner for unadventurous tourists. Mo's poorly chose to go all-in on profit over quality and value. If you think places like Chili's and Applebee's are tasty, then hey: this is probably your kind of spot. Because like them, Mo's is boring, uninspired filler, so you and your blue-jeans will feel right at home. I advise everyone else to stay away from this "seafood" abomination. What was once a titan on the Oregon Coast is now just a sad, greasy, forgettable experience. Yuck. The taste and quality of the original classic clam chowder has apparently been lost to the sands of time, the clam strips were overcooked and chewy, and the fish prices were absolutely ludicrous for the portions/quality. Yuck. No coastal resident would be caught dead eating here. It's like eating Morton's fish sticks and gas station clam chowder. Two stars for service only. read more

I had always wanted to try the famous Clam Cowder from Mo's. I finally made time to stop in and pick some up this last time I was in Seaside. I was so disappointed. I felt like I was eating potato soup. Their soup had no seafood flavor at all. Progresso Clam Chowder soup has more seafood flavor than theirs. Sorry to say this, but even the Clam Chowder Bowl at Disneyland was way better than theirs. I should have listened to my kids and friends they warned me not to waste my money there. read more

I give them 5 stars based on the food, atmosphere & price for what we got. I ordered the Combo Plate. The Cod was a little dry- that's the only negative. The shrimp and clam strips were amazing. I wanted more & more. I used their cocktail sauce which is great. I had a side of clam chowder which is always pretty good! 5 stars. My kiddo ordered chicken strips... they were ok- slightly burnt but not terrible. Fries were good to. The staff were pretty on top of their game. Covid-19 was being followed: masks/ distancing, and hand sanitizer... I can't remember gloves but that's not important to ME. Placed an online order at 1:16p, was quoted 30-40 minutes, perfect, then at 1:20 I get a text saying order was ready for pick up. Headed that way, got it, and when I went to eat it, cod was dense, undercooked and soggy, fries were old and stale. Strawberry lemonade was served in a small kids cup. With tip, spent over $32 for terrible service I'd expect to get at a fast food spot. Been a while since I've been here, and will be a long time before I return. The clam chowder should be named potato soup, I didn't see a single piece of clam, a huge disappointment. The tacos lacked sauce and finesse, but the fish and chips and grilled salmon were good. Round up to 4- Wednesday as soon as they opened at 11am, group of 5 was greeted and seated right away. Sit inside or outside, can get loud. Our server, Crystal B was amazing! Patient with us when ordering as she came back to take our order and good service. Waters were refilled, dishes cleared multiple times and checked in on. We got some oyster shooters- oysters themselves were alright. The cocktail sauce ratio was good as other places go overboard with it. For entrees we got 2 cod fish and chips, 1 halibut fish and chips, 1 cod fish tacos blackened, and 1 Slumgullion bread bowl (clam chowder with shrimp). Food came out fast and was alright. Mo's is Mo's-a classic, that does the job of being fast in service and keeps one full with seafood. The halibut fish+chips were good, flaky. The cod fish and chips were good, nothing extraordinary. The cod tacos were filling, though wish more toppings were offered as it was just lettuce. Slumgullion was alright, the shrimp made it too thick like a stew consistency. Mediocre at best. Great location overlooking the water but that's where the positives end. Our clam chowder was lukewarm and bland, did not taste like clam chowder at all, more like creamy bacon soup with small flavorless clam chunks. The fish and chips was overcooked and dry. Our server was very condescending and only came to take our order and drop the check and we had to ask another girl for straws and napkins. The only enjoyable parts were the fries and tartar sauce. Less than 12 hours after eating there we are both sick to our stomachs! 1 star for the view and the fries. The last time I was in seaside my family and I came to Mo's and I remember loving it, however this time around.. given it's been years and things may have changed, I'm not a huge fan I ordered a large bowl of their clam chowder and my husband ordered clamp strips with a cup of clam chowder and fries. I'm from Seattle and I've eaten a fair share of clam chowder and although I'm not a professional, this was not clam chowder.. this was a potato soup with bits of clam.. I love potatoes but man, this was almost too much, I like my clam chowder to be mostly clam and some potato but the version Mo's had was reversed. Now I may just have gotten a potato heavy scoop of clam chowder but that wouldn't have bothered me if the flavor was there, and it was lacking, I'm not quite sure what it was but it was missing something, nothing a little tobascco didn't fix though. Now my husbands clam strips, also not a big fan, we agreed that the strips were about 90% breading and not enough clam, he also wasn't a big fan of the clam chowder because his was just a ton of potatoes as well, but fries were nice! I'm regard to service and ambiance, both were very nice! It's a restaurant right by the beach and if you're here for dinner, being able to watch the sunset alone makes it worth it. Our cups were always full with water, and service was reasonable considering how busy it was getting. I've been in food and bev for years. The service is not what I'm critiquing.. this review only reflects my experience with the food! Very nasty for how much we spent on it. The food was so underwhelming, EXTREMELY over priced. Strawberry lemonade was plain fountain lemonade with frozen strawberries in it, not a purée. The clam chowder was alright, probably the best thing they had on the menu as well as the oyster shooters. But the fish tacos? The salads? Abhorrent honestly... like the greens were wilted. They add a tomato slice (for burgers/sandwiches) on a pile of wilty lettuce. The tacos?!? They had jarred salsa on the side. I couldn't even eat it. Never again. The service was great and we loved the staff.. especially the guy that came out to find us and give us the souvenir we couldn't get to work in penny press. Stopped in on a whim here 4/18/23 for lunch - at 1pm it was sparsely filled so we were able to get a window table - it was cold, stormy rainy day (my kind of Northwest!) so the outdoor patio was closed. Quickly greeted and seated, got the menus and we just ordered waters - i had the breaded cod and my wife the battered halibut. Food came out quick - first, a cup of their chowder. I was kinda 'meh' about it - thick and sorta chalky texture, lots of potato and a few clams, i added some hot sauce and salt to try and perk it up. Came with regular saltines. I ordered a couple of the Yaquina bay oyster shooters - $3.95 a pop. The oysters were fresh but they had no pop, pretty mushy, almost like summer oysters, but otherwise tasted delicious. And that cocktail sauce OMG very very good. Came in little shot glasses. The fish - both of our plates perfectly cooked. They dont place malted vinegar at the table, you have to ask for it. The halibut was probably as good as it gets - my wife gave me a taste and I wished I'd spent a little more. :) the french fries had great texture and crunchy. Service was GREAT. Also, all serviceware was reuseable - none of those wretched plastic cups or straws. I noted that even their to-go chowder containers were earth-friendly, even the lids! +1 bonus green star for earth-friendly. Prices were about what you'd expect for this touristy town; after tip I think we were at $55. I'd come back here anytime - especially supporting establishments that share my concern for the environment like Mo's. read more

The $40 entry was reasonable for a welcome pour of Pinot Gris, a full glass of either Chardonnay/Pinot Gris/Estate Pinot Noir/Elton Pinot Noir/Griffin Creek Malbec,the glass to take home, live music, and a $15 credit toward a purchase of a bottle or case of wine. If you bought a case you got a free crab. The Mo's menu was reasonably priced and the chowder tasted better than what we had last month at the coast...maybe it was the setting. The crew from the coast were many of the same folks we'd seen last time the event was held at the Turner Estate, friendly and hard working. All the staff at WVV were cohesive and supportive of one another. Spence, Angie, Katlin, and Emi handled any issue that came up quickly. The wife and I have frequented several Mo's since we moved to Oregon, we've been to Seaside many times and today was our first visit to Mo's in Seaside. As you would hope from the promise of any chain, the menu, quality and service live up to the lower mid-range price seafood that they are known for. We were able to be seated right away on the signature hard back benches. Soon our friendly server Crystal was sitting across from us and taking our order. My preferred beverage is diet Pepsi, and serving it with fresh lime makes it ever so more tasty. We were seated and our first course was on the table is under 15 minutes even with an almost full house. This place knows how to get the food out quickly! The wife had her favorite Bay Shrimp melt on grilled, parmesan sourdough toast with clam chowder as her side. She particularly likes good clam chowder and while there are better, Mo's is pretty darn good for her taste. I went with the fried cod fish and chips with a garden salad. The salad was crisp and fresh. The cod was perfect and plenty. The fries are the dreaded "seasoned" French Fries, code for coat the fries with some sort of coating that stays crisp while under the heat lamps long after the fries are stale. Mo's lived the promise. It's not a high end seafood place and they don't pretend to be. I'm not sure there was any fresh seafood on offer today, which is a shame when even I was close enough to the ocean to throw a rock and make it in 10 out of 10 times. This is a good place for an inexpensive meal done well. Service is cheerful and prompt. Food isn't bad and the clan chowder justifies the trip if you're a fan. read more

The service was great, our server was full of life and attentive. She was on it with our refills and made sure to check in on us. The ambience was fun, make sure to ask for a patio seating to get a great view of the ocean. It's worth the wait, but make sure to get there right on time after you get your notification or else someone will come steal your table. The chowder was more potatoes than anything, but still tasty. Wouldn't order on it own though. My salmon had amazing flavor; I ordered the blackened filet. The combination plate was also tasty, although the clam strips were mainly batter. I personally think even the best chowder is not good enough to really make a restaurant famous, that is just me. And I have had and made better, but it is good. Real negative is that I got there 15 minutes before my estimate for the take out order. I like my food to be as fresh as possible, triple important for deep fried food. I'm sorry I have to be writing a bad review I'm very forgiving at restaurants but I absolutely cannot recommend this place at all. Came in for a visit sub par food absolutely awful. I didn't even eat more than a few bites and decided to leave. Food tasted bland and watered down, sauce on the Alfredo was over peppered and was like a gravy. I read the bad reviews prior to going and thought I'd give it a shot. They were right.. my mistake I should have known when the food came out of the kitchen in minutes! Left feeling unsatisfied and hungry. If you want flavorless food that tastes like it's been water logged and soggy give MO's a try. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but.. I highly doubt it Everything was cheap from the furniture to the paper thin silverware I'm sure the ingredients and prep/ food quality is just as cheap after eating there. I finally decided to stop in and form my own opinion on Mo's. I've heard mixed reviews but wow was I pleasantly surprised! It was a long day and my nephew and I came in and were seated promptly at about 7:30pm on a Saturday evening. We had one of the most awesome waitresses I've had in a long time. Jessica, you were amazing! She was fast , friendly, had great recommendations and overall made our experience great. That's the type of person I would want working for me! I had the crispy chicken Alfredo, my nephew went for the grilled chicken burger with onion rings. I loved my food and my nephew said it was a damn good chicken burger. The Alfredo was creamy and flavorful. Noodles cooked perfect. Delicious crispy chicken. We finished with a massive piece of peanut butter pie and wow. I was in a food coma after that. We don't go to Seaside without going to Mo's. In fact, we've driven to Seaside JUST to go to Mo's! Their chowder is delicious and reliable, it tastes the same every time we go and I like that. The fish and chips are great as well and I don't know that we've ever ordered anything we didn't like. One thing that I think deserves to be noted is that they stayed open the entire pandemic and their service never faltered. They adjusted to accommodate social distancing requirements and yes, the wait times were long at times but it was so worth it to get to enjoy something we loved while the world was in turmoil. So many things were shut down or closed permanently but it was nice to know we could take a day trip to the beach and get some of our favorite clam chowder. read more
