I am amazed at all the positive reviews here. My experience was terrible. Firstly, the restaurant is super cramped and lacks ambiance. That can be okay, but not when a place is super pricey. What was unacceptable though was how cold it was inside. I noticed everyone in there left their jackets on. The menu was limited and worse, many of the items lacked descriptions. The portions were unbelievably small! The rolls were only a few pieces and had very little fish. The worst item I ordered though was the tuna "tataki." I received a very small clump of raw--not seared--tuna for 12 bucks. I am not lying when I say I ate it in two bites. A place like this can only exist out here. In Boston or NYC , it wouldn't make it past day one. read more

Probably the worse sushi I've ever had. The portions were very small, fish seemed old, and the prices were very high for what it was. They even charged an additional $7 for the miso and small side salad that typically comes with sushi when you order $100 worth. The waiter was strange as well. This is the best sushi in Northampton, possibly in all of Mass. Every time I come to Northampton, I try to eat at this place - they don't disappoint. They have a pretty extensive menu of options, with appetizers and traditional Japanese dishes and fresh daily sushi specials. Order the Chef's Choice, I promise (whatever it is) it will be worth it. I took my 14yo son to Moshi Moshi for his first experience eating at a Japanese restaurant, and I was mostly disappointed. The place itself is cute, and we were seated upstairs, which is accessed by a tiny spiral staircase. We were the only diners in the upstairs area. We were fairly early for dinner, and the sun was streaming in the windows, making the room very warm. We asked for a table out of the direct sun, but were told that the 4-tops were reserved for larger parties. The whole time we were there, we remained the only diners in the room. Mercifully the sun eventually went down and we could stop squinting and sweating. This unfortunate situation made it difficult to relax and enjoy the food, which was good. We ordered the vegetable dumplings (very savory), the tempura vegetables (nothing special) and Udon soup which was cooked in its own cast iron bowl (delicious). The prices seemed overly high. Based on the other reviews, it seems our experience was unusual, but with a lot of other dining options in the Northampton area, we won't be going back. read more

Sam and Kimmy are the best! We always make it a point to have the honeymoon special oysters. The Steel Rail ale that they used to carry was a good pairing with the sushi. Moshi Moshi is my favorite sushi restaurant in Northampton and possibly my favorite restaurant anywhere! Freshness, creativity, and passion define the Moshi experience. The staff is welcoming and engaged and they treat their regulars like family. I highly recommend the kimchee pancake, the ever popular crunchy spicy tuna roll, and the BK roll (mango/avocado/salmon). Long story short, I found this place: Moshi Moshi. Review's legit so I decided to gave it a shot. The place was uhmazing. I got their salmon sashimi and some rolls. The price were decent. But, but, here's the but .. the sushi was wow-za. The sashimi literally melted in my mouth. Sam, the sushi GUY, was amazing. You should sit at the bar if you're a first timer. Also, he said if you're regular, you'll get your own chopstick. Wished I live here .. haha. Anyways, moshi moshi is a must try. I brought my date here for a first exposure to sushi. As such, this is a very nice spot for trying it out. Not too expensive, and a wide array of sushi choices. The house specialties look very interesting; I have to go back to try some more of these. I also really like the cute spiral stairs leading to the 2nd floor dining area which is cute and cozy. We walk in and there's dozens of personal chopsticks hanging around the bar. A patron enters and is greeted by name, then grabs his sticks. For a restaurant to cultivate repeat business is rare, and telltale of the quality of their food and friendliness of staff. A sushi bar where repeat patrons keep a set of chopsticks on hand? Is it good. Yeah, it was very good. The fish was fresh, cut well, and slices large. It's a bit pricey - specialty rolls around $10, sushi dishes around $20. But for good sushi? Easily worth it.
