I'm a bike guy, especially vintage British and European makes. I've encountered far too many shops that have interesting bikes for sale, most taken for trade-in, and can't answer the most basic questions. This also tells me that I can forget about their service department. I have my eye on a vintage BMW and the folks at Motoworks were not only knowledgeable but also shared the same passion for motorcycles as I do. Awful experience from start to finish, and I didn't even take my scooter in! Called receptionist few days ago to ask for a simple scooter servicing quote, was given a price of ~$120 and was told I would hear back from service team. Never heard back. No follow up. Called again today, spoke to same receptionist who said "everyone is out" and gave me no timeframe for a follow up. After she finally got that this was pretty awful customer service, she transferred me to someone in servicing who was obnoxious, gave me a quote of $250 (totally trying to overcharge me) and gave me some spiel about how they are the best in the business. Don't waste your time or take a chance with your bike here. These guys are as unprofessional as they come. read more

The people at Motoworks are extremely helpful and the shop is always a pleasure to visit. The best commodity they supply to the customer is information. I always leave the shop knowing exactly what went wrong with my bike and how it will be corrected. They always take the time to explain what I need to know, and are willing to tell me how I can fix a problem myself if it's within my abilities. Steve Strickland, one of their BMW specialists, is a top-notch mechanic, and clearly enjoys talking to customers. For example, he once explained an easier way to change the coolant in my K1100LT that was much more intelligent than the method shown in the BMW shop manual. Going to Motoworks over the years has saved me time and money, and made motorcycling a more enjoyable part of my life. read more

What's up guys, here is my story in a nut shell, Went there to get a hamlet with my girl and and dealed with stef . She was great not pushy and very helpful. On the other lets talk about the service dept, first off they were very nice and helpful but kind of questioned there knowledge on ducati bikes epically when you ask questions you get two different answers. Honestly they should let the customer, epically when he or she is on site talk to the mechanic that worked his or her bike. Also another thing, I had my bike checked out since when i bought it from a private seller and the service writer was pushy and wanted me to get a 7k service when the bike only had 5k. The bike was is excellent shape according to the tech that worked on bike because caught him when he was bring my bike up. So I held off on the 800 dollar service until for next year. Also don't expect a quick turn around, they only have 1 ducati certified tech when I was there and he was slammed. Over all, might go back or not I am going to find another shop and see if there better or not. read more

I recently bought a new motorcycle here, and I had a really good experience. The showroom is clean and well-lit, the sales staff is knowledgeable, and the deal was fair. I think like most purchasers, I would have liked to have gotten out of there a little more quickly (not entirely Motoworks' fault) and I would have liked to have taken delivery a little more quickly (again, not entirely Motoworks' fault as they were dealing with a lot of new sales). Either way, I would absolutely return, and I'm sure I will be seeing them next Spring when it's time to add another toy to my collection. read more

This review is way over due! I purchased my Vespa in March 2015, and as a first time buyer I was very sketchy on where to buy. I had no clue about anything I was just looking to get a scooter. I took a look around and found a used bike I felt good starting out with and via the website made an inquiry about it. Within a few hours I had a response from Milan about it and we set up a time we could meet to look over the bike. I got there with my family so my father could shed some light on my first vehicle purchase. Betty greeted us and helped out with getting Milan over to us but since he was with a customer Nina came out and was a gem! She took us back to check out the bike I asked about and we hit the back of the shop where the inventory was overwhelming! We saw the bike and others and the one 4 bikes down really caught my eye. I asked more and she had an answer for everything! Sooner then later she had me explore the bike and open everything and explain it to me. Nina explain the policy with used bikes and options to purchase for my tires and even winter storage! I felt so comfortable with making a decision. I ended up spending 2 hours learning everything I could and leaving my down payment. Over the weekend I came back and finalized my purchase. We went over best options for purchasing and even avoided getting into a financing option I'd pay more out in the end with. She took me out for my first ride and although I was very nervous because it was my first time on a Vespa, she was patient and taught me enough to take off and take a spin. The only thing I was missing was my spare set of keys, but again Nina came through and offered to make me new ones. With so much paper work it may have been forgotten but she found the originals and she mailed them to me immediately. I signed my papers and she had it delivered shortly after having it all checked out with her mechanic staff, which may I add is also AMAZING! Due to my lack of knowledge I hit my kill switch on a practice ride and didn't realize it considering that I flipped it back and forth. I thought something was wrong so I emailed Nina to ask if there was anything I could do to have it turn on again and with some trouble shooting via email she had Christina call me and walk me through a quick fix but that didn't work either. Since I am a first time rider I had no clue, they helped me by having my Vespa picked up and taken in for a quick check. Christina checked out everything possible and figured out my mistake. She had my bike back to me shortly after and was just perfect over the phone while explaining everything to me. Even the driver that dropped my bike off was great! He called prior to getting there and was MEGA polite as he brought her back home. Since then my bike is being used daily! She's running like a beast and I am in full gratitude to the entire staff at the shop! A HUGE INDIVIDUAL THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF! If ever on a hunt for a bike, just start here. So I don't know what's up with this place but the customer service is the worst. I apply for credit and to buy a bike on line and here nothing. I proceed to email them yet again and finally told I'm not eligible with their lender. No problem, I say, I'll pay cash but first a couple questions. I get totally ignored again for two weeks by grant Newcomb who's got to be the worst at sales ever! Finally get a call from someone new, I suspect due to my first draft review. Give them another chance and say I'll def be in for sure to buy the bike tomorrow. And I was also gonna buy their sport package/winter storage and become a long long time friend and customer. Tomorrow comes. A message arrives before I leave my house, and I've already taken 4 grand out in cash to pay, that they sold the bike. Gee thanks! read more

ahhhh. another moped repair joint (i know they sell/repair motorcycles, etc) that just loves to have a condescending tone when talking to their customers. i simply called to ask if they would work on my moped and i got a condescending answer...as usual. "well, that's what you get for buying a used moped....we don't work on those due to availability of parts." no need to be condescending for no reason. no suggestions. just an ass. if i knew i was going to have to deal with every condescending (and in many instances, also hipster-f*cks), i would never have purchased a used moped because it is painfully obvious this town don't want to help someone out..... read more

AVOID I am an owner of a 2003 BMW K1200RS. I brought my bike into Motoworks for the 12,000 mile checkup...a BMW advised maintenance checkup that is quite heavy duty and involves many major things. When I took my bike here, it was in perfect condition apart from a few minor paint knicks from highway rocks or regular wear and tear. I called after a week to check on status and they informed me they cracked the fairing when removing it. FIRST OFF - what mechanic cannot properly remove a fairing...WHATEVER. They said they would repair it. I came back 2 weeks later to pick it up and the bike looked as though it had fallen over on its side. IT DEFINITELY FELL OVER ON ITS SIDE. The foot brake lever was bent in, the fairing was completely scraped up, THE FOOT BRAKE DIDN'T EVEN FUNCTION AND THEY STILL TRIED TO GIVE IT TO ME. They allowed me to ride knowing the foot brake was damaged. They initially challenged me and I had to show them photos on my phone to prove it. So they made up a phony invoice and said we'll get back to you. It took a couple weeks before finally having a meeting with the manager and owner to discuss it. They finally agreed to repair everything and we made a list of all the parts to order and what needed to be done. I thought, awesome, finally, a week and a half and ill have my bike back. Well sadly, that was only half of it. It went on for a few weeks with them saying the body shop couldn't match the paint. 3 weeks. Can't match the paint? Really? Pretty sure this was a lie. They needed more time to repair the damage and simply put it to the side in resentment or were having trouble repairing the damage, that is my opinion. When I got it back, it looked great and the engine felt great. But there's an annoying squeak from the rear tire now when initially running the bike and lasts for a few minutes. The rear tire of the bike feels loose and there is a slight rattle. Also pretty sure they stole my city tag and license plate sticker out of resentment. Throughout the ordeal they treated me horribly and made no offers to make up for the inconvenience. In all, they had my bike for 2.5 months and I could go on and on about much more than what I've said thus far. I have never experienced such horrible customer service and such disrespect from a mechanic shop. OVERALL: DO NOT TAKE YOUR MOTORCYCLE TO MOTOWORKS. The mechanic area is full of jerks and liars. They lied to me numerous times, even to my face when I visited on one of my many visits. The mechanic Steve is a laugh and he will try to smooth talk you over with some technical talk. Don't buy it cuz he and the B.S. he thinks is working you over is actually just garbage. read more

Motoworks Chicago operates a dishonest business. Sales officer generates finance paper work when costumers do not need to finance a purchase. Even when costumers inform the sales officer that customer does not want to finance the purchase, the sales officer nonetheless generates the paper work verifying that the costumer will not need a loan for the purchase. At the end of the day, the costumer is charged a "documents" fee for unnecessary documents verifying the costumer's purchase will not be financed. Also, Motoworks Chicago accepts credit card purchases, but does not disclose until the last moment that the credit card fee is payed by the costumer. The fee is charged even after the costumer protests the credit card fee. Sales officer ignores the costumer's protest and fails to draw the attention of the costumer to the fee on the bill of sale. Good luck trying to get a call back from the sales officer to deal with costumer complaints. Ghosting appears to be a ritualized business model of Motoworks Chicago . read more

Yesterday, I bought another bike from Motoworks. You will also note that I have never written a review from my first purchase over a year ago. The reason was that the salesperson I dealt with then was unprofessional and dropped the ball once too many times, causing headaches for not just myself, but the shop as well. I say this because I want to provide context. The sales manager, service manager and even the owner have done me a solid in problem resolution. That is why I remained a customer and continue to go there to just chat motorcycles, get service done, enjoy demo days, and even support Johnny's race celebrations. This review is to focus on the aspect of personal relationship that is unique in the motorcycle dealership business environment, in that it is rare. I have visited so many motorcycle dealers, and I can honestly tell you that Motoworks is just different. Unlike many dealers, the staff at Motoworks treat you with respect, like family who shares a passion for motorcycles. Most of the time I never got the feeling like I was being taken advantage of, or treated condescendingly in a smug way, like so many other dealers. And this is speaking to all levels of their entire shop staff! I understand every dealer is in the business to make money, for otherwise businesses won't exist. And Motoworks understands that I drive a hard bargain with tough negotiating skills who is looking out for my own financial interest when buying a piece of machinery that is, let's be honest here, a toy, not a necessity. It is this mutual respect and understanding that I don't get with most of the motorcycle stores out there. The other exceptions to the majority include Team MCC, Newport Beach Ducati, and Freedom Cycle Las Vegas. Anyway, I digress. Back to Motoworks. I still remember the day when I first set foot in the store. I was immediately greeted. Do you know how many other dealerships I have gone to where when you walk in, you see the staff eye you but won't come to you right away? As if they're sizing you up, standing there strategizing, and being cocky almost as if you're the new kid in high school? Ugh! I hate those kind of stores. With Motoworks, I feel like the staff are personable and genuinely looking for ways to spread the joys of riding, while trying to make a successful business along the way. I cannot imagine how many other dealership staff is willing to put up so much patience like Motoworks have for me in the past two years, whilst still maintaining mutual respect. I never expect the principal to always remember my name, yet Johnny does, as well as their entire staff! It certainly puts me in an awkward situation when I still haven't memorized some of their names back then. It is people like the staff of Motoworks that make purchasing there enjoyable and rewarding. Yes, I may have had a hiccup initially during my first purchase there, but like I said, Motoworks have gone above and beyond my expectations to resolve my grievances. And it helped that the salesperson in question is no longer part of the team. As I do with all businesses I work with in my career and personal life, the one thing is to always remain courteous, explain what's wrong, and work with the business in question in good faith. And treat the staff with respect. And only the good businesses will return the favor and do everything to resolve your issues. Motoworks Chicago is simply one of the rare good ones that fit the bill, especially when it comes to motorcycle stores. I personally recommend Motoworks to anyone looking to buy a bike. Because people like me who used to be in the service industry (consulting) for many years, understand how critical customer service and relationship are. I judge other businesses against my own benchmark of how I treat my own customers, and I readily admit that I am very hard to please, and I have to say, Motoworks exceeded and continually exceeds my expectations. The crew at Motoworks helped me figure some things out while I was shopping for my first bike. I was glad I stopped there because they were able to take plenty of time and explain things to a real beginner. The impression I got was that they are really trying to be the best place in town in terms of customer service. I think they're on their way. I got a lot of help from several people, who were all really supportive of my plight as a massive rider (6'8"). The selection there seems to be about 25 scooters and about a dozen motorcycles, mostly BMWs. I think if you want a BMW, this would be the place to go! read more

The whole team at Motoworks have been great. I live in the neighborhood and my first bike that I bought was a 2000 Triumph Sprint 955. I thought it was perfect, I have a shop nearby in case I needed any service. Unfortunately they couldn't even change the oil because they don't have the diagnostic computer to check & service any Triumphs older than 2004. Did order a couple of parts from them and fixed my bike myself. As I got to know the staff there more, talk shop, and test ride a couple of bikes, I was sold. I bought a 2015 Thunderbird. The staff has been great, service has been good (minor problem with a saddle bag), and I just like stopping by once in a while to just say hi and hangout. All they need to do is increase their selections in merchandise, primarily gloves and glasses. I highly recommend them. read more

I went into Motoworks the other day to buy a scooter, I knew I wanted a Vespa and I did a little research on the internet, and went in planning on buying a 50cc model. I was suprised to see that they offered testrides. I test rode two scooters, and ended up buying a different scooter than I had intended. I had been to Scooterworks, and Champion, neither of them offered test rides, and they both really tried to push me into buying on the spot. The test ride allowed me to buy te right scooter. The staff were great. They were really busy, and I had to wait a few minutes while the paperworks was being processed, but that was the only hassle. The service was top notch, Bonnie, the sales girl that helped me, was really knowledgeable. Overall a very good experience. read more

Long overdue review! I am the king of procrastination, but am working on it. Anyway I'll try to keep this as short as possible. My father left me a couple of old BMW's after he took his last bow. They had been sitting a while and I decided they needed to be ridden again. I went in and met with Steve and we made arrangements to have the /2 brought into the shop. Made a list of the needs and wants, and went from there. A few weeks later I had a nicely running 1968 /2 that I enjoy riding every day possible. Their prices are reasonable, staff is second to none. Everyone I dealt with-Steve, Christina, Peter, etc... Top notch. I definitely recommend bringing your Beemer here, old or new, they will treat you right. read more

I suppose my experience was bad because I purchased a vintage motorcycle (BMW R75/5) from this dealer and not a new one. I did not expect to get a "new" bike once it was delivered to my home in Colorado, but I did expect to get what I paid for in the advertisement which I did not. The advertisement said this bike ran like a top and was ready to ride across the country with a change of tires. When the bike arrived at my home it would not start. Things I had to do in the weeks following the delivery: - Change Oil Pressure Switch (was leaking everywhere) - Change Petcocks (gas flow bad) - Change Oil Pan (appeared to have been bottomed out badly, not mentioned in ad) - Change Diode Board - Spark Plugs (routine maintenance) - Change Air Filter (routine/unbelievably dirty) - Change oil/filter (routine maintenance) - Change Battery (failed days after delivery) - Had two screws missing from carbs which caused air leak/replaced - New Tires (Amazing this one was actually mentioned in the advertisement) Things that are being done now: - Timing (which is way off) - Set points - Synch carbs (which advertisement said was done) So after a little over a year of owning the bike I will finally get what I paid for. A bike that "runs like a top" which will be ready to ride across the country should I choose to do so. Please DO NOT BUY USED BIKES FROM THIS SHOP. And do not trust advertisements they post. The only reason I say used is because a new one would probably come under warranty. read more

Really great experience - first time in the shop. Had called to ask if they could put the computer on my 2007 RT which was throwing a brake light. They said sure, stop by any time, so I said I would be there early on Sat morning. First thing that happened is that the city is doing curb / street work at the intersection, so it was not apparent to a newcomer where I should go. I parked on the street and as I was pulling off my helmet, Mike from sales was walking into the shop and came over and told me to go around the block and into the alley. He was super nice about it, introduced himself, etc... This little gesture got me off in the right frame of mind. Parked in the alley and walked into the service area and was greeted by the guys in there - very friendly again. Told them what was going on and although no one currently present had taken my call, no worries, we'll be happy to take a look. Gave them some info, keys, signed away my life :) and started to walk around the shop getting to know the place while I waited. As it took a while for them to get to it, I had the chance to chat with all the folks in the showroom and a few of the additional staff walking in and out, and to speak at some length with Johnny. Turns out we did the Freddie Spencer riding clinic in Vegas at about the same time, which came up since I was talking about my other ride, a 2000 VFR. That was Spencer's and Nick Ienatsch's track bike for the school. We traded some stories about that, talked about the business, etc.. Johnny was super friendly and took what I considered to be a lot of time to talk to me just friend to friend on what was gearing up to be a busy Sat morning for his business. So I was really made comfortable with the people and the place. A while later, Steve Strickland came to get me to talk about the RT. We walked back into the service area together to my RT up on the rack, and he proceeded to take me through an explanation of things very, very thoroughly. He explained what the warning light was about, what he could and could not tell with computer diagnostics, what he could and could not do depending on what ultimately was the matter, and he and I together came up with a plan of attack. It made me feel like, here's a very nice guy who knows his stuff, doesn't know how much I know but isn't a jerk about it, yet treats me like an intelligent person (this is where it's a REALLY different experience than most BMW dealers I have ever been to). He also said a few things about my bike that made me feel good as the owner (it being a great motor, well designed, etc...) which contributed to the overall good feeling. He then gave me a quick history of how Johnny came to own the place and the attitude of the staff and their approach to business. No charge for the diagnostics. So it was a great visit to what seems like a very well run business - at least from a customer's viewpoint. I bought a T-shirt just because I felt compelled to do something for them since they had charged me nothing for the time spent on the bike. The T-shirt's cool and I might have bought it anyway, but it's just a lot easier when you want to do something for folks who are friendly to you. I was on the road coming back from an East Coast trip when I noticed my tire was getting very thin the guys at motor works dropped everything and got me back on the road again should I can continue my way back to the West Coast. They did a great job of finding the a good deal and also got some deals on some T shirts and other items. They were professional and friendly and most of all competent. read more

I did a lot of research before I purchased my Vespa LX 150 in 2008 and I went to a couple of Vespa dealers and chose them based on their customer service. I ended up losing my title and they were very prompt in starting the paperwork process -- I didn't even have to lift a finger, they did all tedious work for me. To me, these are the things that matter and have made me a loyal customer. They deserve major kudos for not only their professionalism but their down to earth friendliness. 5 Stars. read more

These guys are solid. I used them for tune up and storage on my Kymco 150 scooter. No problems at all. Sometimes you need to call them back if they are busy or don't pick up the phone, (minor annoyance) but otherwise they were friendly, professional and competent. I don't know where you will get "concierge" type service in the motorcycle or even auto service industries these days (ok may exception for super high end car dealers may give you the high-end follow up treatment), always feel from a customer service perspective the customer these days has to drive that aspect (communication) of the relationship anyway. They are passionate about what they do. I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

This is an update to a less than stellar review I left 9/28/16. I received a call from Milan, the GM, and he expressed regret in how this situation transpired, and clearly wanted to make things right. He advised that he had already ordered a second key for me as well as an owner's manual. Although I have not received either items, I am confident that Milan is going to follow through with his promise to rectify the situation. So my recommendation to any potential customers is that I would recommend this dealership, however have a checklist with you of reasonable things to expect, such as two keys, owner's manual, etc., and have those things checked off before coming to an agreement. Never assume anything! This really isn't advice with regard to Motorworks specifically, but any major purchase. Thanks again, Milan! read more

I recently bought a scooter from these guys, a Piaggio Fly 150. I love it! Nathan in sales is extremely helpful, offering us test rides which apparently some places don't do. They carry BMW bikes, Piaggio/Vespas, and Triumph motorcycles. These are all high quality pieces, none of the Chinese garbage! The sales are great, but what also matters to me is the service obviously. I had the scooter stop on my wife in the middle of the road one day, and after much distress, I was able to find someone to transport the scooter back to Motoworks. It ended up being only a loose spark plug, but Milan and the service crew were able to get me my bike back the same day. In addition, I unfortunately crashed the scooter in the first week, and Milan was able to take it back the next day, get an estimate, and start the body work as soon as the insurance estimator got his hands on it. Guys in service and parts are very knowledgeable, I've buying been purchasing genuine Triumph parts there for as long as they have been open. I've have had them do service to my bike as well, they were done on time and on point with the estimate. I do wish they would get rid of their answering service! I have called too many times for my parts, left messages with a 3rd party service and never get a call back. I don't mind going there to check in but if I lived further away then I would start ordering my parts online. read more

Great staff. I bought my Vespa LX150 there a few years ago. I live a little up north so I took it to another place to get my oil changed. Big mistake. Vespas aren't cheap so you owe it to yourself to take it somewhere where they know what they are doing. Since my experience at the other scooter place I have never been anywhere else, oil change, repairs, wintering, etc. And to the chump who complained about a "48 hour notice" to pick up a bike being stored, have you seen how many bikes they are storing?? A lot of people trust these guys, for a reason. They're knowledgeable, honest, and if any mistakes are made they own up to it and make it right. read more

This is an update of my past experience. Basically after my first review which basically put this place in a so-so spotlight, the owner (johnny) followed up with me literally the day afterwards expressing his regret that I wasn't happy with my purchase. Needless to say, this seemed like a once in a million hiccup on their part and if one takes it into context that the riding season is coming up and they're super busy (I saw hundreds of bikes in their storage), I can see how something like this can happen. Johnny had stated that he would love to have me come back and have it personally inspected by himself. He even offered to buy the machine back from me no questions asked. Unfortunately, by then I had already had fixed most of the problems with the bike at a different shop(I bought the bike in late february, but didn't start riding until 3-4 weeks later; that is why I finally wrote the review in april). There were still some problems that I was going to work on myself because I couldn't afford the rest, but decided to give them another try since it was evident that he felt pretty bad and hurt about the fact that one of his most favourite types of bikes (a BMW airhead) had not met the expecations of a rider. They fixed those things free of charge and I haven't had any problems since. The only thing I wish I had known about this bike was that the final drive is not the original and it is not well suited for highway driving (I do about 80% highway and not the stuck in traffic type of highway) and so my mpg is poor at best. Regardless, I told them of this issue and they are diligently working to help me find one that will fit my needs. Besides that sticking point, I do have to say that my faith has been restored with this shop. It's truly what one wants from a small shop - owners that actually give a damn about their customers. read more

I brought in a bare 10 inch scooter wheel, new tire, and new tube That just needed to be mounted. First mistake I arrived shortly after 6 and most people are concerned w. Closing. (It's late work sucks.... I get it.) After getting somebody to help they tell me they can't do it. They only service what they sell. Ok I get it (don't want to deal w. No name junk) but this is a wheel install. Would take minutes for them. As the service guy is explaining the policy and telling me how they dont have parts etc And how they might break the valve stem on a wheel that doesn't have one I decide I'll just need to go elsewhere. Then a gentlemen who I assume is a Manager intervenes realizes what I need and says sure they can do it if I can come back tomorrow. That works for me as I'm not in a huge rush and have a few more wheels to bring in too. Do the paperwork and head home. Come back tomorrow to a long wait. (Annoying but could be understandable..... but again people are on the phone, chatting w. each other, looking for missing paper work while I wait.) Clearly not a priority when they already have my card info and the wheel is sitting on floor) But then the bill comes and I can't believe it. $44 dollars plus tax. 40 *Install only* for 1 ten inch tire On a plain scooter wheel. 4 Dollar shop fee (for what I brought everything and no disposal). Even at a $120 per hour this wasn't a 20 minute job. Lesson learned stick to DIY w. My other 4 tires I need mounted. Don't get me wrong this might be a great place if you have a 20k dollar ducati....but in my experience they didn't seem to care too much for those who don't. read more

One of the most enthusiastic 5 star reviews I'll ever give...and I never even bought one thing or had any of my bikes service (though I did get a quote...more on that later). Categorically speaking: Location: 3 out of 5. You'd really think that with their Pilsen location being in the city, it wouldn't take so long to get there from the south loop. But I kid you not, I've been able to ride down to midway airport faster from the south loop than I've been able to ride out to 1901 s. western. I tried all combinations...I took 290 to western (stoplights are a pain, but not terrible; with the construction though, it's rough both literally on tires and time wise), I took clark to cermak (big mistake), clark to cermak to racine to 18th (not as bad, but still takes a long time with pedestrians, small streets, etc.) Anyway. Dont' let this stop you though, because they are worth the trip. Customer Service: 5 out of 5 This is actually a pretty complex story. In April of 2009, I casually browsed Motoworks looking for a motorcycle. They had a few there that just didn't fit quite right, but I did talk to Bonnie about perhaps getting a Piaggio BV500. I mean - it's good to keep an open mind about riding machines. Just because you've never ridden a maxi scooter doesn't mean you won't like it. At the time my budget wasn't as comfortable as it is now, so I decided to keep the shop in mind, specifically because Bonnie let me know early on that they were expected to become a full line Triumph dealer later in 2010. Fast forward to present day. I had two motorcycles, and was looking to trade them both in for something...different. Rather, something all encompassing so I wouldn't have to choose which bike to ride based on scope of errand. Not to sway anyone one way or another, I won't mention the brands, but suffice it to say that one was European and one was Japanese. So on the bike hunt again, I scoured all the local reputable stores: Motoworks, MCC, BMW of Milwaukee, and even Road Track and Trail in Big Bend, WI (see my review of RTT - they're good people, but their business model may not be for everyone). In the past month, I've seen, or been interested in at least three different bikes at Motoworks. Triumph Bonneville, Suzuki SV650S, BMW K75 (The alpine white low one), and heck - I even test rode an Aprilia Maxi Scooter. Each and every time I went, Chris and Johnny were patient, education, and non-condescending to me and my questions. Always professional, always courteous, always friendly. If you could combine that with me being, oh, say - 4 - 5 inches taller, I would have happily bought the K75. Again...customer service is top notch. Selection of bikes: 3 out of 5, subjective. This could go either way. If you're open minded and don't mind seeing Vespa, Piaggio, Aprillia, and even some new Kymco's side by side with new Triumphs, this may be fantastic for you. Throw in another 10 or so used BMWs, some newer and ready to tour, and some from the early part of last century that have been beautifully maintained or restored. Lastly, add maybe three to five Japanese/American machines to the mix, and you see what I'm getting at. Either love it, or hate it. I'm somewhere in the middle. Pricing: 4 out 5 I would say that generally, their prices on used machines are reasonable. They're not as low as private party, and they're not as high as BMW dealerships. They're also not as low as say, Road Track, and Trail - but bike for bike, the selection at Motoworks is top notch when it comes to how well they've been maintained, and how nice they look in person. They offer very reasonable trade in rates values too. Reasonable for today's economy and market, not reasonable for your standards. Just remember that. And remember, if you don't like the trade in values offered to you by Motoworks, you can always try to sell your bike to Kelly Blue Book. zing. Extra mile award: 5 out of 5. One of my machines has this quirk where it only runs when the fuel switch is in the "Reserve" position. It's an electrical switch on my right grip, and I never bothered to fix it. But once in awhile, I'll still have that instinct to slide it back over to "on" after I fill up. Well, I did this, and then promptly proceeded to dry out the carbs, inducing a breakdown at the corner of Western and Ogden. I had just come from looking at a bike, and sheepishly called Chris explaining the situation. I got the fuel switch back on "reserve", but ran the battery low wailing on the starter. I needed a tow, and Johnny came about 5 minutes later. Didn't charge me a dime. Towed my bike to the shop, gave me a jump start, suggested that I get a tender, and sent me on my way. Did. Not. Want. A. Dime. It doesn't mean I didn't try to do something nice for them later - it's just that at the time of transaction of services performed, there was no expectation of payment. So some dude hit my bike when it was parked on the street. $1700 and six-weeks later (back-ordered parts from Germany), my bike is back and running better than before it got hit. The service manager Milan was easy to get ahold of when I needed to check on the status, even when he was about to go into surgery to get his broken collar bone fixed. read more

Motoworks Chicago! Excellent Excellent Excellent... First of all for an enthusiast as myself if you are in the Chicago area this is a must see Dealership whether you ride, have ridden or just into meeting really cool people with a plethora of Cool Bikes! The store carries Triumph Motorcycles, Vespa Scooters and a very cool Italian line soon to be on the horizon! But it is the underground room as "I like to call it" that takes you back to an era when all was COOL and a Beemer rider's dream. If you own a BMW or have in the past Motoworks Chicago has some serious beauties under their roof. They also are fully set up to work on all the manufactures I listed above. The service department run by Milan is hands down the Deal in Chicago and Extends outwards in the Illinois community. Chris and Nathan who handle the Sales Department make the buying experience just that and an incredible one at that...they put you on your dream and they do not waiver! Brian in parts makes the buying experience hassle free and is knowledgeable with all your P.G.A. needs. If you need to speak or want a real Tour of a Historical, take your breath away Shop then you have to meet the owner Johnny! He is "The Show" of Motorworks Chicago and you will most likely see him right as you walk in greeting customers. It is a true shop not a dealership (a bad word according JS), everyone is welcome to hang out, get remarkable service and maybe just get a question answered.
