We stopped in on a Thursday evening and there was plenty of seating available. They seem to have a lot of space they can host parties. The service was great from walking in to leaving, food came out in good timing. We tried a couple dishes and ill just rate each: The Soy egg- 5/10 seasoned but tasted watered down not as rich in flavor Pork dumplings- 10/10. Had japchae filling for that classic Korean Wings- the sever recommended the Soy ginger and it was 10/10. Loved the flavor and crispy wings Bulgogi- 8/10 Rich in flavor, had a lot of big pieces of veggies and verrrry thin meat though. Came with white kimchi and radishes which were tasty. Motte fried chicken- ahhh 5/10 I expected a lot more but maybe the description is just really accurate. Nothing and just nothing on the Cornish hen. You do really get a whole one and it is fried crispy. I needed a sauce with it, something. It also didnt speak to much Korean flavor. A dry spice mix was on the side with fries and the radishes were never served with it. Overall I'd stop by again if im maybe at the brewery but I wouldn't go across town to get it.

After visiting an event next door a few selected to dine here. On this Wednesday evening it was not crowded and dining in was a breeze. When I arrived a couple people had ordered appetizers fried pork dumplings and brussel sprouts. Both were great. The meals ordered were as such bibimbop, motte fried chicken (cornish hen), spicy chicken tteokbokki and bulgogi. The fried chicken was said to be very crispy and tasty, the bibibop and bulgogi both came with korean sides (kimchi and picked radishes and white rice)all satisfying and met the satisfying taste and hunger. After eating we all had left overs as it was more then a serving in all meals. However, a couple meals continued to be eaten and didnt make it out the door. This place has an eclectic korean fused decor and menu. Seating on 2 levels. Not a large restaurant but seating is plentiful depending on the day and time. They also serve alcoholic beverages with a bar. Parking was a little tight due to the snow/ice mounds. This place is definitely worth returning.

This Asian inspired restaurant was so good. We enjoyed our drinks and I highly recommend the Bulgogi pizza. Our waiter kindly accommodated some of our special requests. The atmosphere inside is cool and trendy. They have a huge bar and a small dining area. Their whole chicken is what they're known for and I would recommend that as well. It is made to order and takes about 25 minutes to come out. Do not skip the peach bread pudding

This was an ok spot. In the cut the ambiance was nice a little too dark. The servers were very nice and attentive. I was not fan of the menu or food. I ordered the motte wings, spicy chicken sandwich and fries. The Margarita and the wings were great even though the wing count was small. But the sandwich and fries I did not enjoy the taste. But we still had a good night.

Motte has been on the list for a hot minute, and it did not disappoint. Motte is such a wonderful addition to the Highlandtown community. It's in the same parking lot with Monument City Brewing and Urban Axes. I love how Motte pairs Korean and American cuisines with a casual no frills vibe. The building that houses Motte was originally a fireplace mantel factory. You will definitely feel at home here for sure. Stopped in after an Elite Event at Monument City, and was quickly seated. We ordered a few items, the fried brussel sprouts, the bulgogi, bibimbop, motte fried chicken( small whole chicken) and the Yoo Rin Gi( pork). Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. That motte fried chicken was delicious and the skin was really crispy. I'm definitely returning for a possible happy hour or with friends. So if you're in Highlandtown, please make it your justice to stop in.

Brussel Sprouts: they were well seasoned and likely crunchy which is the way we like them!

My partner and I enjoyed a date night at Motte! I live right around the corner from this space, which is the BEST part. Secondly is the parking lot which is clutch! If you live in the city you know what a flex it is to have a FREE parking lot for your business. When we walked in we were greeted and seated right away. We had reservations, but the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived. We did notice, about 15-minutes into our meal, that the place started getting packed! It's a vibe! Our server was courteous and gave us some helpful hints on what to order. In the end, I ordered the bibimbap and Yoo Rin Gi. My partner ordered the Motte wings, Brussel sprouts, and margherita pizza. The Brussel sprouts were BANGING as were the wings! The wings remind me of the Bon chon wings. They've got that crunch! The bibimbap was VERY satisfying. They bring some condiments, along with a house made gochujang, to use as you wish. It was so filling, but in a good way. Everything was so fresh! I can't believe I ate the whole bowl! Well, I can believe it, but it seemed like a lot. The Yoo Rin Gi is these chicken strips over lettuce. It was topped with some sort of sweet sauce. The combination of the chicken, sauce, and crunch of the lettuce was perfect. As I said, I had already eaten the whole bowl of bibimbap, but couldn't resist the chicken. Greedy, I know! I HAVE to mention the non-alcoholic IPA. Good Times! It was one of the best I've tasted. We're at the end of our Dry January and I could drink these everyday. If I didn't know it was a non-alcoholic beer, I probably wouldn't know any better. Well, until I realized I wasn't getting the buzz. These NA options have really made my Dry January easy. We both had Creme Brule for dessert. It was good, but my partner is creme bule connoisseur and felt it could have been smoother. It was a bit thicker than we're used to. It was still good though, I finished hers. We'll definitely be back!

TLDR: Great space, easy parking, and excellent cocktails. The pizzas were the surprise stars. Korean dishes felt toned down for Western palates and lacked some depth and punch. For the price, we hoped for bolder flavors and more refined execution. A good experience, just not quite what we were hoping for. Motte Restaurant & Bar in Baltimore was a place we really wanted to love. My wife and I are both of Korean descent, and when we saw a modern Korean fusion concept open in the city, it instantly went on our must visit list. We made reservations a few weeks in advance for a birthday lunch for a group of 15, and to their credit, Motte was able to accommodate us without issue. Located in the same business park as Monument Brewing, the shared private parking lot is a huge plus, especially for guests coming in from outside the city. Upon arrival, we waited about 10 minutes for our table to be fully set up, which is completely reasonable for a party of that size. The layout of the restaurant is well suited for both small and large groups. They pushed several tables together so we could all sit as one long party, which made for a great communal dining experience. About 70 percent of our group was Korean, so we were very familiar with the Korean side of the menu and excited to see Motte's modern takes on classics. We ended up ordering nearly the entire menu, multiple times over, to feed everyone. From a Korean perspective, the food felt like Korean inspired dishes tailored heavily toward a Western palate. You get hints of bold Korean flavors, but softened and presented in very familiar forms. We knew going in that this was fusion, but we were hoping for a bit more risk taking and depth in the flavor profiles. Ironically, the standout items of the meal were the pizzas. The bulgogi pizza and the sweet shrimp pizza were both crowd favorites and genuinely excellent. They were the most memorable bites of the afternoon. Some of the Korean dishes, however, fell short of expectations. The whole Korean fried chicken could benefit from better seasoning and being pre cut into chunks, which is how it is typically served in Seoul and makes for a much better group dining experience. The spicy chicken tteokbokki was skimpy on rice cakes and lacked the punch we were hoping for. We also found it odd that only young white kimchi was offered instead of a traditional aged kimchi. The galbi sliders were another miss, as the galbi patty was dry. The cocktail program was a bright spot. Our group worked through much of the menu, and the S'mores Old Fashioned was the runaway favorite. There was also a banana infused whiskey old fashioned on special that was very enjoyable. By the end of the meal, our bill was north of $1,200, so this is by no means an inexpensive restaurant. It is more of a special occasion spot. At that price point, we were hoping for Korean dishes that felt a bit more refined and bold, especially considering how many excellent Korean restaurants exist in the Baltimore area. Motte has a great space, strong service, and a solid bar program. With a little more fine tuning on the Korean dishes and perhaps more generous portions, this could be a standout. Right now, it feels like a place with a lot of potential that has not quite found its full voice yet.

Visited Urban Axes for date night and stopped by Motte for a yummy cocktail and some quick bites. I must be honest, I returned for the Crispy Shrimp Balls and stayed for the house Espresso Martini and the great bar service. Definitely stop by and try a few of their Korean infused menu items today!

This place was pretty amazing. Korean fusion in a super historic Baltimore building??? Bet. A friend and I visited Motte recently. We were taken with the large space and its charming decorative touches. Our server was super attentive and took care of all our needs. We ordered the veggie fried dumplings which were very tasty. I ordered the bibimbap for my entree and was very impressed with the dish. I ate the whole thing. For dessert we went with bread pudding, which was excellent. The only drawback was after a certain time, the lights were dimmed to blind level. Otherwise, amazing visit. Can't wait to go back and try other things!

Instagram made me come. I'm glad we did. Ambiance was the first thing I noticed when I entered this brick and mortar building. It doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, you might not know you've made it to your destination if you don't pay close attention to your Waze directions. You turn onto a narrow street, you turn again and then suddenly - a parking lot. You've made it. We were fortunate to visit while a life band was setting up. That was a treat. We ordered all of the menu items that our favorite local foodies recommended, including the Brussels sprouts, wings and that Korean fried Cornish hen. The Brussels stole the show. Get those. The crispy fried shrimp balls were aesthetically pleasing and delicious. The wings were pretty spicy. I was disappointed with the Cornish hen. It was flavorless and dry. We didn't get drinks. I'd return for the Brussels alone. It's vibey and worth a visit. Maybe pass on the chicken...

First time trying this place after seeing a review on Instagram for them. The fried chicken was good but what I thought was weird was that the seasoning came on the side. The chicken wasn't seasoned at all. I was surprised about that. Even though it was a Cornish hen, it was big enough for 2 people. We ordered 2 and could have definitely ate just 1 between the 2 of us, especially with 2 appetizers too! We had the brussel sprouts and fried squid. The fried squid was a bit chewy and too much breading. I would try here again but maybe for happy hour next time.

I really love the decor and the dim lighting at this restaurant. It has industrial vibes. I came on Friday and it was super packed. I strongly urge to make a reservation. The service could be better. It took a while for our server to put in the food order. The food is so delicious. My absolute favorite was the bulgogi pizza. The old bay wings were nice and crispy and seasoned well. And the fries were amazing?

This place will now become one of my local go to spots in Baltimore. If you are looking for a weekday happy hour that has some variety then add Motte to your list. They have $2 off apps and a happy hour drink menu. The staff was great and polite, giving menu recommendations , providing insight into their dishes and more. They have a patio, nice front entrance and plenty of space for large and small groups.

Whether sitting at the bar or at their super comfy couches, it's very inviting to stay awhile. Drinks - Old Line specializes in two spirits: rum and whiskey. Don't be fooled; they have varieties of those two options in terms of aging and blending process for a grand total of five products. When I went, $15 got us a flight of every spirit they produce - and they don't skimp! I thought it would be a little 1/2 oz tasting, but this was just shy of a full shot each, so I ended up sharing with my companions. Speaking of flights, they also offer flights by style. For example, if you are more of a rum person, they have a flight of their rums as well as some from other local distilleries. Ditto for the whiskeys. A nice touch promoting competitors in the spirit of... well, spirits! The cocktails were great. I got a daiquiri - a proper daiquiri with lime and rum. Not to hate on a spiked strawberry smoothie, but this is the OG daiquiri (and the better one, IMHO). I also split the Liberty Risk, made with their Navy Strength cask rum, with my companions. They limit you to one because it is STRONG. Suffice it to say I ended up staying a little longer than originally planned. Overall, they have six regular cocktails and one or two specials. They also offer a couple of local beers on tap, but we came for the spirits. If you enjoyed the cocktails, they sell the Old Line spirits as well as some bar tools so you can try your hand at home.
