    Mottsu was a really great restaurant and I'm actually suprised that this place has a 3.4 star review on yelp. The food was overall great. The naruto rolls tasted nice and I recommend them with spicy mayonaise. The Inaka Chicken ramen was the best ramen I have ever tasted in my life. The chicken was seasoned well and all the other elements in the ramen soup added up. The service was good. The waiter asked us 2 minutes later right when we sat down what we wanted. The service is very fast. The environment I would say is very aesthetic. There were old style chinese paitings, hanging leaves, and an aquarium. Also the music was very good. They played K-pop artists such as Jungkook, TWICE, and Newjeans. Overall, 5/5

    Without ever eating there I have the need to post a review based on pictures This picture is on Caviar /Dashpass obviously supplied by the restaurant That type Tamarazushi is nowhere to be found on their menu or on their delivery It's a shame to put such a pretty enticing picture as your lead picture ...Which is misleading and a waste of time scrolling through the app I would have tried it if available. Now. No. Highly recommend the restaurant removes it and puts actual pictures Not recommended

    Sushi Lunch Special review - I would highly recommend this as it is probably one of the most affordable sushi lunch spots in town - for 3 rolls to cost about 16 dollars, before tax and tip. So I ordered a variety - to sample their fishes and selection. I had the miso soup - classic version, quite yummy. Salmon Skin sushi roll - also a good one, definitely worthwhile. The skin was crunchy, paired well with the rice and sauce. Overall was on par with the classic roll. Spicy Tuna roll, instead of the spicy mayo on top, they mixed the spicy sauce and some crunchy (probable panko) into the mix, overall decent. I would have liked it without the hidden panko. Eel and avocado - this was a bit sadder, there was much much more avocado than eel - but still decent. This may have been my least favorite of the option I had there. Definitely would stop in for the lunch special, but nothing that is an absolute must-visit location. Although if you are looking for some decent cheap sushi rolls for lunch - it is worthwhile to stop in!

    My friend and I stopped here for a light lunch/appetizer after our photoshoot. The outdoor aesthetic was very nice (a modern yet rustic setup) and we were given menus and water within the first few minutes of sitting down. We decided to try the Japanese style fried chicken. The portion wasn't bad (photo doesn't show but you get about 8-9 pieces). It was fried very well but lacked flavor and seasoning. The sauce pairing (spicy sushi mayo?) was a great choice, and it added some flavor back to the dish. When it came time to pay and leave, we had to wave/gesture for someone inside to attend to our table. There was only one other table dining on the other side, so crowd/being busy wasn't the case. Overall, this place isn't on my list of spots to visit again, simply because fried chicken is a pretty straightforward menu item but it wasn't seasoned well, and that makes me hesitant to try a more complex dish from here.

    Decor is quite bland, nothing exciting or eye catching. Service had to be the worst aspect of this place, I came in by myself during my lunch break and sat at the sushi bar. It took them 15 minutes to just bring over the menu I had to ask the sushi chef about 3 times. If the place was packed I would have been more understanding but it was just me and two other tables in the place. On to the food, it was just okay. Nothing super amazing or that stood out. Just a boring, can find anywhere bento box. Tempura was super crunchy though so that was enjoyable. The rest was just okay. The box also came with a 6 piece sushi roll; I picked the Tuna roll, two pieces of Shumai, rice, soup and salad. I did like how you could choose a different roll besides California without having to pay extra but for a $18 lunch special I thought it would be a little more... Special.

    We went to this place for Omakase and we love it. The chef choice of the sushi was amazing and delicious and thank you for the chef for the entertainment. We really enjoyed here and will definitely coming again.

    Ok it's official, this will be my new go-to sushi spot!! We ordered 2 lunch special rolls (12-4pm): spicy salmon and salmon avocado and 1 special roll: dancing eel avocado. Each individual piece was HUGE and stuffed, fresh, and delicious. The spicy salmon was not dry, it had a good amount of spicy Mayo in it! Lunch meal comes with miso soup or salad. For dessert, we got tempura green tea ice cream. It's similar to deep fried ice cream but with a thicker batter! They take cash or card. Very pleasant staff, affordable meal, all hidden on a quiet street. This whole meal (3 rolls, 1 soup, 1 dessert) is enough for 2 ppl, maybe even 3 depending on your appetite haha! Boy am I happy to have found this place!! Outdoor and in door seating available.

    I've had both very good and very bad experiences with this place so it's honestly a toss up every time my roommates and I order sushi from here. It's good because it's one of the lesser expensive sushi places we order from but that's balanced by sometimes it's pretty disappointing. Maybe I'm just weird when it comes to sushi who knows!! This time it was particularly good. I got a couple tuna rolls and some eel dipping sauces. Usually ordering the tuna from here is your best bet in my opinion! Plus side is they are very fast when it comes to delivery so that's a plus in my book!!

    This place is close to work, so I'll come in with co-workers on occasion. The service is pretty good, never crowded on a weekday during lunch. Overall, the menu is pretty standard Japanese American fare, with all the sushi/sashimi, teriyaki, udon, etc options you'd expect. The lunch specials are priced fairly for NYC. I ordered 3 rolls, which came with a miso soup. The quality was fine, and the fish was fresh. If this restaurant was in the suburbs, I'd probably rate it a 4. Overall, an acceptable option for a quick sushi fix, but doesn't stand up to the other options in the city.

    Great little place I wandered into while I was in the area. Wasn't too packed for a Friday night but very busy regardless due to orders made on the phone. The wait staff was very attentive & kind & the sushi was delicious. I ordered from the specialty menu, a coconut shrimp mango, SO GOOD! It had some mango sauce along with eel such -which happens to be my favorite. Topped it off with a delicious ice cream tempura. Highly recommend because of the great service & scrumptious food.

I told our server this when she asked if it was our first time dining here and she found it similarly puzzling. That said, this sentiment is one rarely expressed these days, as Saint Julivert's longevity puts it in what I'd imagine to be an exclusive, highly coveted class of restaurants that have stood the test of time in the face of changing trends, the pandemic, rent, etc. And perhaps more importantly, it has stood the test of time *and* maintained its high level of execution and quality. Saint Julivert is a neighborhood spot as memorable as it is unassuming. We came here at around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. I live quite far from Saint Julivert which is the main reason I hadn't gotten here before this past weekend. Luckily, a friend who recently moved to the area was having a party, describing the offered fare as "drinks and light bites" -- code for "not sufficient for dinner" and an opportunity to find a fun restaurant nearby to try beforehand. Walking up to Saint Julivert was a bit of a thrill for me -- both because of how long it's been on my radar and also because it's nestled on a block that otherwise seems completely residential. The space itself is much smaller than I imagined, very cozy, friendly, and down to earth. We had, in my opinion, one of the best seats in the house, which was a pair of high tops by the kitchen with loads of space for folks (read: us) who like to order a bunch of smaller plates to share. To start, we got a round of cocktails. I had to go with the Kanpai Martini (vodka, gin, shochu, cap corse, guindilla), as I pretty much always start with the martini if one is featured on the cocktail menu, and my partner got the Puerto Escondido (mezcal, beet, grapefruit, jalapeño) which is a super tasty spicy mezcal marg variation. I then tried the Diamond District (mezcal, persimmon liqueur, cocchi americano) which is a variation of one of my other go-to drinks, a white mezcal negroni. No complaints here. Food-wise, we obviously leaned into the seafood here heavily. Tried to sample as much variety as possible and I'd say we did a pretty impressive job. We weren't able to finish everything but we tried our very best. Truly everything was exceptional so my usual letter grades aren't all that necessary because it was As across the board. Eats, below: Amberjack w/ tomato water, crispy shallot, shiso oil Ideal first dish, definitely had some amuse bouche qualities, being both light and bright. The fish was incredibly fresh and the concept overall with sophisticated with use of texture and flavor that was impressive in its subtlety and execution. Chicory Salad w/ blue cheese, walnut, persimmon, coffee cider vinaigrette Our one veggie of the night and it was well worth our while, fresh winter greens with that tried and true blue cheese/walnut combo made unique by the coffee cider vinaigrette which emphasized the sweet and earthy notes of the dish and brought everything together beauitfully. Wild Shrimp w/ salted kumquat, poblano pepper, pomelo If I had to give an award to most unique of the night, it would have to go to this dish. I've had a dizzying amount of seafood over the years and I've been lucky enough try to a lot of different types of things in a lot of different types of ways and this one stands out. Something about the flavor and texture of the mostly-raw shrimp with the delicate and aromatic citrus elements. Just impossibly fresh, bright, and delicious. Octopus w/ pipián verde, roasted tomatillo juice, cucumber, serrano A preparation I'm used to seeing served warm but I enjoyed it cold just the same. The overall flavor profile was predictable but the elements contributing to it were less so. The green mole was delicious and overall this dish was a perfect bridge between the lighter and the richer, a segue so perfect it was as if it was divinely ordained. Squid a la Plancha w/ pine nut, maitake mushroom, tinta, poblano The first of two warm dishes we ordered. A nice complement to some of the lighter dishes we had earlier in the meal that were more aromatic/vegetal/gardenia vibes, this dish was earthier, more umami and grounding. Jerked Hamachi Collar w/ mango-pickle mayo, lime Hard to finish with this because it was probably the richest of the dishes and we were already somewhat full by this point, but I ate as much as I could because it was just that good. The mango-pickle mayo was just sublime, the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully -- altogether a playful and powerful way to end the meal.

I walked in here on a cold and quaint Monday night after a really long and exhausting day at work for my favorite treat. I got situated at the bar and ordered two dozen oysters on the half shell. The oysters came our looking phenomenal with a presentation that made me want to dig right in. Everything about these oysters are perfection. They are fresh, shucked with care so they retain their brine, they are a good size and taste phenomenal. The accompaniments on the platter are amazing. Cocktail sauce with freshly grated horseradish, a cucumber hot sauce that adds both heat and texture, a fat, generous wedge of lemon cut with Max juiciness in mind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn by a mile and I say this with absolutely no exaggeration! The interior of this restaurant is also so beautiful with soft dim lighting and a clean inviting aesthetic. It's perfect for a cozy date night, intimate dinner or just a casual dinner with a little bit of oomph. Prices on most items are very reasonable, but the happy hour menu between 5-7 PM is an absolute steal! I deeply enjoyed chatting with my bartender Diego who is part owner of the establishment and learning how they procure their catch and personally taste the oysters they serve. You can just tell how much thought and care him and his partner pour in to running a beautiful neighborhood restaurant like this. If you are in park slope, this is the spot you absolutely have to step into. I can't wait to be back for more oysters and to try other things off their menu! 10/10

    Me and mom celebrated Mothers Day today! I chose the restaurant because I was there 2 years ago on…read moremy birthday in September! Before we ordered the Mother's Day special, I specifically asked the waitress if she would like her tip in cash and she said of course! The special was $95/person plus a 20% TIP ($38) which was $228! See photo below! We ordered some other items and the waitress gave me my bill for $252.86. We then drove 10 blocks to Chase to get out cash for her. I then noticed that I was charged $298.86. It was the $252.86 plus a TIP of $45.20! I immediately returned to discuss the discrepancies. The tip that was supposed to be $38 was now $45.20! The waitress then said she would credit my account. My question was how did this happen! All three waitresses stated it was not them and that the machine did this! How was this possible? Not one of them took responsibility for the discrepancies! Had I not looked at my bank statement then I would never have known that I would be tipping her twice! I then decided to leave to explain to my mom! Then the short Indian (I think) than sarcastically stated "Oh so now you're not going to tip us" Really! I drove 10 blocks and I NEVER ONCE STATED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO TIP HER! I merely was going to let my mom know what happened and then TIP her! Note* I was going to give her a $100 cash TIP! Had she given me the REAL receipt with the $45 TIP then I would have given her $50 CASH but since she only produced the REAL receipt after I came back (how ironic) and told her she charged the wrong amount, she would have received $100 TIP. But since the short Indian waitress made that slick remark, she did not receive anything! After the disrespect and blaming the machine and giving me a fake receipt? I decided to leave! If this is how you conduct business then you just lost a great customer! PS! The food was great!

Tucked in the quiet end of Red Hook right by the water, is Brooklyn Crab - a lively, coastal shanty themed restaurant serving up some seafood favorites... but on a cold day in early February the abandoned and frozen tiki bar downstairs and the residue of snow salt on the staircase leading to the restaurant only served as a faint reminder of brighter, sunny days that await us this summer in New York. I plopped myself on the bar seating as cold gushes of air swept in with the opening door. The heating was struggling but so were we - it really was just that cold. However dire these conditions were, I was here for my weekly ritual - two dozen oysters on the half shell. Trish the bartender was a great sport. We chit chatted about the weather and her California upbringing and everything in between. She was great company and a delight to talk to. When the oyster platter arrived I was met with instant joy. Nicely sized oysters, neatly shucked, briny and beautiful with the accompaniments I like. A cold glass of beer I had been slowly working on in the background. They only have the $1 Sunday oyster happy hour during the winter months. Staff simply can't keep up with the shucking when it's busier. I deeply enjoyed this meal as the sun shined in the glass enclosure and it started to warm up. Far away I could see the waves crashing on the dock, as I guzzled down the ocean's perfect food. I also ordered the peel and eat shrimp and they were very good. Nicely seasoned, with ample amount of lemon wedges to make this meal truly one of a kind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn, and even though I am traveling away from home right now, I can't wait to return and bask in this sunlit bar one last time this winter. We got a little of the happy hour oysters and some appetizers but also got a burger (not on happy hour list). The oysters were great - super fresh, not fishy. Really refreshing. The fries and the burger were also really good. And the shrimp was soo flavorful. I think if we were to come again, would skip the wings - they were ok, though the service was really nice and allowed us to try two flavors (gave us separate sauces) - maybe if we had done just one flavor and let them sauce them themselves it would have been better? Super close to IKEA and unbeatable sunset views. Will definitely come again if every around the area.

The long mirrors on the walls made the space feel bigger and taller as well. First and foremost, I'm giving this place a 5 for the service as they really went above and beyond. It was not the occasional stop by to refill water and grab dirty plates. Our waiter provided great recommendations and offered me a small sample of a wine I had heard him recommend to another table after I had already ordered my orange wine. In terms of food, the bluefin tuna special was very fresh. We enjoyed the hush puppies and the swordfish belly. The fry basket had thin rectangularly shaped fries which were amazing. The only thing is I wish it came with more than two pieces of shrimp and two pieces of fish. The chargrilled oysters were also very good. Lastly they offered free bread pudding which was a perfect way to end the night.
