Our reservation was at 7 and we were seated at a table in a side room with surplus chairs and cheap folding tables haphazardly placed. My wife had a glaring spotlight in her face. We waited for a server to greet us for 20 minutes until I returned to the hostess to let her know we hadn't seen a server. The hostess didn't offer an apology or a simple "l'Il let someone know" she just turned and walked away. 5 minutes later what I assume was a manager stopped at the table and placed some bread and water at our table and walked away. No, "I'm sorry for the wait" or "can I grab you a drink while you wait for a server", just turned and walked away. We waited 10 more minutes without so much as a "I'Il be right with you" and we left. 30 minutes sitting at a table without any service. No less than 3 servers walked through the room and not one stopped to ask if we had been helped. Needless to say, I can't imagine we will ever return. read more

We used to go here years ago, but the service had declined and the food was just meh. We finally decided to try it again yesterday and doubt we will ever be back. The food was just bad. Nothing special and poorly executed. The fish was dry, the burgers were burnt and overdone. Just nothing that stands out about this place other than a nice atmosphere. Maybe we went a little too early...we were by far the youngest people in the dining room. Drinks were so so, my wife ordered a jalapeño margarita and was told "no one has ordered that before" when it came out (pickled jalapeños not fresh sliced soooo meh) Easter shore nachos came out cold and stuffed salmon came out too hot (left under a heat lamp for too long hot) and the dining room was incredibly hot...you would think a place with $30+ menu items would be able to crank up the ac a little more. Just wanted to give kudos to the staff who hosted the bridal shower yesterday. The servers came out to our car to help us carry in the decorations. Whatever I asked for they were very accommodating. Kudos to the chef everyone love the brunch! A special shout out to Patrick who helped us put up the balloon arch and bring out another table for the gifts. He was very helpful and very kind as well as the other staff which i greatly appreciated since i was probably asking a lot but as the mother of the Bride I just wanted everything to be nice for the guests. I've been here when they first opened. I was telling my sweetie about the turkey sandwich. We stopped in early 4ish , and after being pleasantly greeted we were seated right away . It's been a while since our last visit here for Sunday Brunch, and have to say we were very disappointed. Food was cold, except for made-to-order items and staff was not the friendliest we have ever encountered. I love Eggs Benedict, and remember them being great in the past. Today undercooked and stone cold. Once you bite into something like that it ruins your appetite for anything else. Ended up paying $20 for coffee. There is a restaurant less than 5 minutes away called Baldwin's which which offers brunch and the food is always hot and the staff friendly. The only downsides are the ambiance, very dated, and not offering omelette and/or waffle station. In the future, I will forgo ambiance for hot, better quality food and friendly service. read more

DISAPPOINTING NIGHT. 2 stars ONLY because of the service tonight. Very unusual for this place at least in my experience. FOOD IS EXCELLENT. My husband and I went for dinner last night. We didn't know it was the start of restaurant week on top of a Friday night so they were expectedly busy. Had a 6:30 reservation and had to wait about 30 min, no too bad. Food is always worth it. As we're sitting by the fireplace near the hostess stand I see (who later I'm told is the manager) cough (hack really) directly into her hands and then go right to the computer console and start touching screens and such. AGHHH! Just gross on a good day but now??? On top of it she was poorly dressed, unkempt, her clothes were exposing her gut, her hair was a mess etc. I would not have her represent the front of my house especially during restaurant week, but that's just me. Frankly her bus staff was better dressed SERIOUSLY. I'd seen her carrying trays of plates etc so after I told the hostess about the computer cause this poor girl should know she was touching someone else's SNOT! I told her that that women was not to handle our food or anything for our table. Everything took forever. Way too long, by the time we got our appetizers we had already devoured all the bread they bring out YUM, appetizers come and then another very very long wait for dinner. By then we weren't even hungry. We had room temp 'iced tea' had to ask for ice multiple times before we got ONE small plastic cup to "share". Overall it was a terrible experience, but for the fact that the food is alway delicious and I don't care who you are the bread pudding makes up for it all. Went the for Mother's Day brunch and the food and variety was delicious. The dessert bar with a chocolate fountain was an excellent and tasty touch. Lovely restaurant and even though it was a rainy day; nice view of the grounds. The restaurant is very run down-- it used to be very nice. The bathroom was disgusting, and looked like a dirty bar bathroom. The food was bad-- fried zucchini tasteless and short rib in the short rib tortellini had the texture of rubber. They originally sat us in a dark room with a wedding rehearsal party, so we asked to sit outside-- the view is the only good thing about this place. Alerted by my bank later that night of multiple fraudulent charges on my bank card from the restaurant , one over $1000. The manager and host were rude when attempting to resolve, telling me to take it up with my bank. A truly horrible experience. read more

We had 12 for 11 am and we were seated promptly, the on-time folks were brought beverages while we waited, and the late folks were directed to is kindly. So here's the awesome sauce about this place: 19.95 for the brunch buffet with ice tea and or coffee/ $24.95 for the buffet AND an unlimited champagne, mimosa, or Bloody Mary - which includes a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar! The buffet had the usual bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, as well as some really well made eggs Benedict. Some of the savory included Cod in Cajun gravy (which I was told was amazing), a bagel, lox and cream cheese station (with Nova yay! But only raisin bagels boo!) which led to my invention of the crosschmear - a croissant stuffed with cream cheese and lox! There was fresh cut turkey, an omelette station, amazing Belgian waffles, French toast, chicken nuggets and tater tots, beef tips, Caesar salad, and cream chipped beef. The dessert buffet was off to the side with a tremendous bread pudding and a ton of petit fours. All in all a great place to while away a Sunday morning with amazing views, ample parking, and a homey ski lodge feel. read more

Came here for a large party of about 50 people. We had a room to ourselves and had a stocked bar and wonderful service. Most memorable were the caesar salad and chicken piccata. It has now been a full 5 days since our lunch at the Mountain Branch Grille & Pub and I have been thinking long and hard on how I want to word this review essentially that whole time. I find myself of two, make that three, minds- on the one hand, it was just so nice to get out and have a meal (in theory) served to me, having been months since anything has been open due to Covid-19. On another, I wouldn't be surprised if half, or even more, of the staff last Sunday may be brand new to the company, as so many businesses have had to re-hire and seek for new help in light of being closed for so long and so many finding alternative income and new jobs in the meantime. Lastly, neither of those mentioned reasons should equate to the service received last weekend, which was frankly awful and a downright "F" for failure in inattentiveness and disregard. I am giving a VERY generous 2 stars on this review because, based on the edible appetizers we ordered and consumed, the food has promise. The brussel sprouts and the fried zucchini were quite tasty, though I will admit we were a hungry trio. Unfortunately, that is where the good flavor ended and where the entrees left a less-than-desirable taste in our mouths- actually and figuratively. I ordered the Blackened Tuna Sandwich well-done (I'm not in a sushi bar and I like my food cooked) while my BF ordered a Build-Your-Own Burger medium-rare (he does not need his food cooked, I guess). It was pretty apparent after our dishes arrived that the kitchen had switched these requests, as the BF's burger was a dry hockey puck and my blackened tuna was redder than a summer tomato. So, I set aside the plate and waited for our server to return so she could address the uncooked fish sandwich that had been given to me. I waited. And waited. Finally we were able to grab the attention of another staff member and I told her of my concern- we didn't even mention the biscuit-like burger patty on my BF's plate. 20 minutes go by and the same server asked if our issue had been addressed, stating she had told our assigned table staff. We told her we had not, making it clear the extensive wait was getting frustrating for us. My BF ate part of his meal and declared himself done, and his daughter had finished her mediocre meatball sub, as well. Another 15 minutes passed and our original server decided she'd check on us for the first time since initially serving us and, upon asking how everything was, I simply replied, "I'm still waiting for my sandwich to be cooked." She balked and looked fairly taken aback, instantly leaving me with the feeling that she had not been informed of my raw tuna situation. In the end, I did not get a meal I was comfortable eating, and we did not pay for it, either, which, of course, was the only appropriate course of action to take. We will not ever be returning to this spot. Yes, it was the first weekend to allow dine-in customers in 2 months and therefore the restaurant was likely busy and the staff rusty or new, but between the lack of attention our server showed us (checking on a table after 30-40 minutes is a bad idea, no matter how out-of-practice the staff is), the suspicion that communication between servers was likely not as we had been told, and getting our order specifics (well-done vs. medium-rare) wrong, there is no temptation to try this restaurant again. read more

My mom hosted my bridal shower here last weekend and we were extremely disappointed in Mountain Branch. Not worth it for the price by any means. The only positive was that they were very flexible with changing the date (we had to postpone a year because of COVID). But the execution of the event was as if they have never hosted an event before . Our contract included mimosas to be there for when guests arrived. 30 minutes after the event started we asked where the mimosas were and they told us that we had to pay for them. We told them we did pay for them and they told us we had to speak to a manager (who they never went to get). So my mom had to go over and pull up the contract on her phone. They also didn't have water. Who doesn't have water? They told us we could have Sprite or tonic water instead until we argued with them that they need to go get a big pitcher of water. We had about 50 guests there and they brought out about 10 tea sandwiches per platter. So needless to say, they were gone almost as soon as they came out and no one was there to refill the sandwich platter. So the buffet was sparse and empty until I talked to two servers and the manager telling them they needed to constantly refill the buffet. Presentation was disappointing. They also went around and took everyone's knives mid meal because they had run out of knives (I think there was also a wedding and another event that day). Clearly they were not prepared to host our event and it was embarrassing. When I called the event manager a few days later to discuss, all she had was excuses. She sent my Mom a gift card to make the situation right instead of comping a percentage of the bill. Why would we want to go back there? I would definitely reconsider if you are planning to have an event at Mountain Branch. Not worth it at all in my opinion. read more

Made a reservation for Christmas Eve right after Thanksgiving...was told I was first on the list. assumed we'd be in the main dining room. We get there this evening and we're led to the side room which was freezing cold and no ambiance like the main dining room. Dirty food under the table asked to be moved. Moved over closer to a station area. All the food came out lukewarm. Even the coffee was not hot. Crabcake which is usually good lump crab meat had tons of filler in it. Very, very disappointing evening especially when the bill came out over $500 for six people. I expected much better. There were plenty of tables in the Main Dining Room when we arrived. I can't understand why we were shuttled into the room with no heat!!!!! All in all we were all sorely disappointed. read more

I live in Florida and I visit my son and his family frequently. We drive past Mountain Branch all the time and went for dinner there. The scenery is beautiful but the food was TERRIBLE! I ordered the grilled pork chop which from the minute they put it down in front of me I knew it was not good! It looked like a burned brick. Tried to cut it with my steak knife and could not. I would have needed an electric saw. It came with string beans that were cold ( supposed to be warm) and a baked potato which was also cold. My son had the strip steak and shrimp. The shrimp were good and tasty but the steak was very fatty and had gristle throughout. The crab stuffed shrimp was tasty. The highlight of the dinner was the bread with olive oil dipping sauce. Our waitress was unorganized and I believe might have been new. Although the manager credited my dinner I definitely do not recommend Mountain Branch for dinner. read more

I took my family here for Easter Brunch buffet, and the view was great. That is the end of the good news. The food was just OK, but no where near as good as a brunch this expensive should have been. Smoked salmon was good but all they did was buy it, and the fish was good. The beef was like I remember from the college cafeteria, and the carving station only had ham. One of my daughter's boyfriend had ham, and it was very fatty and he didn't eat it. Desserts were very limited. Service was slow, but the waitress was working hard, they were short staffed. For drinks 3 small mimosas, one beer, one coffee, and one iced tea. To add insult to injury, they added an 18% or 20% tip. The waitress made over $40 for serving one round of drinks and a couple of glasses of water. 18% for a buffet?!?! Maybe I am cheap, but 18% for a self serve lunch seems crazy high! So brunch for six was over $302!!!! There are many top notch restaurants you can go to in the area where you will get a much better meal at a much lower price. We waited over fifteen minutes before we were acknowledged by our server (we were the only ones there). Waited over fifteen minutes for a glass of white wine and an ice tea. No AC, annoying flies inside on our food, place could have done a facelift while closed for COVID 19 but didn't & the bathrooms were dirty . Meals were just ok. Went for date night and honestly, pretty let down by the whole experience. Slow and inattentive service- seated without silverware or napkins, never got our bread, fried zucchini was meh and French onion soup was just bad. The stuffed shrimp entree (which was also meh) came out maybe 5 mins later served with a side of cold mashed potatoes and lukewarm green beans. To whom it may concern- I planned to do my engagement photo shoot at Mountain Branch's golf course and facility, on September 26, 2015. As a golfer, I called the Pro Shop to clear it with management. I spoke with Pat on August 10, 2015 at 11:30am and was told that we would be worked in around the golfers and that everything was fine. At that point, I alert my photographer that we're all set and schedule all the necessary appointments to look my best for the pictures, as did my fiancé. I called to verify everything on Monday, September 21st, and Pat answered again. He told me the Head Pro was out of town but to leave a message and he'd get back to me. On Friday, September 25th, I received a voicemail from the Head Pro saying that they are not able to accommodate my request to take pictures at their facility, as I was not having my wedding there. That policy is all well and good, had I been told that when I called over a month prior and had not been told of the policy, or asked if I was having my wedding there. I chose to do my pictures at Mountain Branch because it held many memories for my fiancé and I. I can promise you that we will not have any more memories made there. Over the past year we have stopped playing the course because of the condition it was always in- awful. The grass was no longer green and the greens were in horrible shape. If you're a golfer, that's definitely something you don't want to play on. We did however, continue to use the practice facility and the restaurant/bar. We loved Sunday brunches there- however the quality of everything has continually declined since the last batch (and there has been a bunch) of owners took over. In the end, we were accommodated by a much more established course, Hillendale Country Club. The management and staff could not have been nicer. They apologized for Mountain Branch's awful customer service, even though it had nothing to do with them. Our pictures turned out wonderful and I couldn't be happier. I'm sharing this story because I want you to know of the sub-par service I was given by your staff. I also want you to know that I will be posting this on all of the wedding sites, blogs, as well as the Better Business Bureau, Yelp!, and any other venue I can to get the word out about what happened to me, so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. My family has chosen Mountain Branch as a celebratory spot for many years and we enjoy going back each time. We normally sit by the fire with a view of the golf course and always are treated to what I call the triple threat. Great food, service and atmosphere. Food is always top notch and there is a great drink selection. Staff is always polite and courteous and attentive to our needs. Pricing is very fair and the food portion are large. I recently sat at the bar for the first time and had a light appetizer and drink and was again treated to the triple threat. We are now coming into spring and I will miss the warm cozy fire but will enjoy watching the golf come to life. I look forward to my next visit. read more

I had heard great things about Mountain Branch and recently got to try it out with some friends. The atmosphere was very elegant but not too fancy and stuffy. The main dining area has giant windows that overlook the golf course. The menu is full of classic american fare but they did have appealing seasonal specials which offered some pretty unique dishes, many focusing on pumpkin. All four party members were very satisfied with their meals (particularly the double cut marinated porkchop and mashed potatoes!) and all portions were quite generous. After the complimentary bread and appetizer, no one was able to finish their meal. The wine list was fairly limited and they didn't have the bottle of Pinot Grigio we wanted but overall it was a great experience. Excellent, friendly wait staff as well and prices were very reasonable for the size of quality of the food. Highly recommended. read more

It's hard to rate this place because the service was so absolutely horrible. Like crazy bad. We liked our food--great bread, nicely prepared chicken, fish, crabcakes . . . two people in our party of 6 were not thrilled with their dishes--a tomato appetizer which was just a few slices of tomato with a small teaspoon of basil lemon sorbet, a swordfish entree which was way too salty, and a pork tenderloin which was not tender. Service: it took forever to get drinks, and when we ordered, the waitress was rude towards my fiancee's parents. It seemed to be a racial thing, and that really bothered me. And then when we were eating our appetizers we realized other tables had bread, but she didn't bring any to us. I asked and she snapped at me "it's coming!". Our food took a while to come and we decided to just get the dessert to go (some of us got the three course special). The bread pudding was actually good when I had it at home, although it's frustrating that it's the only dessert option. We asked to have some bread wrapped up, and she said sure . . . did we get it? Of course not. We tipped her well because my fiancee' is sweet like that, but if I go again and she's my server, there is no way I'm taking it. Came here with my husband for restaurant week during lunch. We were both under dressed since we were going to the animal shelter to volunteer afterwards. Even so, the servers were pleasant enough, though it probably helped that we were the only people there. The food was pretty good. I had the maryland crab which was tasty. My husband has the Cesar salad which was a bit on the sauce heavy side. I then had the black and blue steak sandwich which was delicious. Very flavorful and it came with chips. My husband had the blackened chicken penne which he enjoyed though he said that it was overly salty. Before we got our food we also were given a nice bread roll which we fresh and delicious. I'm probably the wrong person to be reviewing this place. I really don't like breakfast food, and I absolutely detest buffets. The whole idea of lining up at a food trough really makes me lose my appetite. However, I do realize that aside from my man, I'm pretty much the only person that thinks this way. I went with my man and my parents on one of our visits back to my hometown-ish area. It's a nice setting, the kind of place to take your Grandmom for brunch on a special day. I think it's probably better quality than most buffet breakfasts. Plenty of the usual foods: eggs, sausage, bacon, homefries, quiche, french toast, fresh fruit, etc. If you like that stuff, it's probably 4-5 stars. But if you're a freak like me, and don't like eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, quiche, or french toast, but your family insists on making you order the buffet when all you want is a bowl of oatmeal and a slice of plain toast...meh. Ate with a group of six friends during restaurant week. Ordered from the specific restaurant week menu and opted for the wine pairing add-in for another $10. Very please overall with the meal and the choice to do the wine package. I will review all the items offered for restaurant week as at least one person in my group ordered each item (except the mussels which looked awesome on an adjacent table). We had reservations for 7:00 and probably did not need them. The restaurant was busy but not slammed and I did not see any other parties waiting. We were promptly seated and the special menu explained to us. Dress was relaxed business casual with most patrons sporting jeans or slacks with dress shirts. The three guys in my party all went with jeans and did not feel out of place. The choices for the first course were a cream of crab soup, goat cheese salad or mussels. The crab soup was loaded with lump crab meat, but was over seasoned and a little heavy. I ordered the goat cheese salad and was very impressed. It had a huge slab of goat cheese that was breaded and baked (still warm) adorning the top of a pile of spinach. Accenting the spinach were very thin slices of green apples, almond slices and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. The flavors work perfectly against each other to achieve an amazing balance. I highly recommend. The last choice for the first course was the mussels which looked great but was not ordered by our party. The second course was either twin crab cakes, 8oz fillet, veal porterhouse or SSC (scallop, shrimp and crab) pasta. The crab cakes were good. Plenty of lump crab meat but a little too much filler for me. They were topped with lemon butter sauce which was lost due to the high power flavor of crab and old bay and served with fresh green beans. I would order them again as they were great, but not the best in Baltimore (see my review on G&M Restaurant for that). The fillet was nicely prepared and topped with a dollop of tarragon butter (one of my favorite preparations) but the mashed potatoes and onions left a lot to be desired. The potatoes had no seasoning, were very thick and were very cold by the time the plate was served. The onions were basic shoe string onions friend crispy and didn't add anything to the meal. They could have been left out in my opinion. The SSC pasta was very well prepared and had an impressive amount of sea food. I was very impressed by the size of the scallops in the dish because I was expecting the little bay scallops which are just nasty in my opinion. The sauce was nicely seasoned and had a great seafood base to it. For dessert, the only real option was the bread pudding as the other was vanilla ice cream (who wants ice cream in the winter?). It was typical bread pudding, nothing special but it was well made and served with a nice caramel sauce. If I were a resident in the Baltimore area I would definitely give this restaurant a shot, especially after a round of golf (its located on a golf course). Would I eat here if I were visiting from out of town and it wasn't restaurant week, probably not. read more

We've only been to Mountain Branch twice, both as celebratory dinners on Saturday night. We made reservations both times, but the dining room didn't seem that crowded. The restaurant has a weird setup, like it wasn't meant to be a restaurant and has been retrofitted. There is a bar/loft area above the dining area where people can look down on your table, which weirded me out a bit. Due to the space and the loft, it is a little noisy (well, more noisy than you would expect an upscale place to be). The prices are a little high, but the portions are generous. I ordered a Caesar salad with my entree - big mistake as it was a large bowlful and I was almost too full to even start on my main dish. They offer a wide variety of desserts which are quite tasty. My favorite part about this place is the three course menu they offer which includes an appetizer, main dish, and dessert - a good amount of food for the price. The place appears clean. First let me say that we have been to Mountain Branch many times, all with wonderful experiences, until last night. It appears that the place has gone downhill! The restaurant wasn't as clean as it has been in the past- food on the floor, flies everywhere, and bathrooms with broken open (and empty) paper towel dispensers. There seemed to be one waitress for the inside while other people were handling the main business of the deck party. We ordered soup, which was good, but then our entrees were brought out immediately after the soup. (We had just started eating the soup.). The entrees were mediocre at best- not at all what we're used to from Mountain Branch. My husband's crab cake was watery inside- maybe not cooked all the way? He has been sick all night!
