I have loved this place for 30ish years. I have mint been here in a long while, but still a good value for a basic breakfast, a fancy breakfast, or a coffee and pastry. I guess they changed their business model for a while and weren't full service, but they are back as I remember it. Full service, hot coffee, friendly staff. It's a little out of the way if the resorts, and that's a bonus. A great local feel. I had a simple breakfast, eggs, bacon and one slice of French toast. It was just the right amount to hit the slopes on, and I didn't break the bank. My son had a southwestern style omelet. He said it was good and he didn't leave hungry. It's comfortable and decorated in local flare. There is plenty of parking and apparently live music occasionally. Stop by if you want to avoid the crowds and have a quiet breakfast. read more

You earned 1 star over your refusal to correct a menu error. I ordered a Bronco under Cakes section listed as 15.95. I was charged 16.95 and the shift manager refused to correct it. If the menu is wrong, correct it. When you know something is incorrect and not doing anything, then it is intentional and very likely in violation of CO's Deceptive Pricing Practices Law. Was going from 5 star to 1 and risking legal penalty worth squeezing an extra $1 from me? Solutions: 1) Make little stickers with the correct price and add them to menu. 2) scratch out that menu item that is incorrectly priced 3) instruct servers to inform customers of the menu error when ordering 4) correct the pricing in the system. This prob takes 2 min. You did none of these things and when the error was politely brought to your attention, your manager refused to correct the check. This refusal is the problem. Beware of scam! They have automatic gratuity for parties of 5 or more and it is not listed anywhere nor will the server tell you, which is fraud. You will get a handheld card reader and an option to tip 20, 30, or 35% which does not indicate an autonomy gratuity of 20% has already been added. We figured this out and the manager was not able to refund us unless we were there (which doesn't make sense), thankfully our credit card company was able to dispute the charge. Very upsetting as our family has been going here for years and unfortunately will not be back. Food here is good but service is lower than average. read more

If I could rate this experience lower, I would. To start, we arrived knowing there would be a 30-45 minute wait, which we were fine with. However, after waiting a full hour, we checked in and were told it would be another hour and a half. As we waited outside, one of the supporting poles in front for he door started to go down and if it wasn't for the two men in our party paying attention, vehicle damage and potentially two girls standing w their back to the pole could've been seriously injured. When we told the staff inside they said "oh thats no big deal"... as if the safety of guests and structural integrity of the establishment weren't a concern. We were a party of 10, and rather than pausing seating in a section to accommodate us together, the restaurant continued to seat parties of up to 8 who arrived after us. After waiting nearly 90 minutes, we were all understandably hungry and decided to split up and sit at 3 separate tables. Unfortunately, the service continued to decline. At our table of five, it took nearly another hour for food to arrive. Our server never came back to check on us, and other staff--those circulating with water or coffee--were nearly impossible to flag down. Several mistakes were made with the meals, which we handled, but it's hard to overlook eating dry biscuits with no water or coffee refills. Despite asking multiple team members for something as basic as water, no one followed through. When someone finally approached, it wasn't to assist--it was just to tell us, "Your check is on the way." To make matters worse, when the checks were finally brought out, the restaurant attempted to place the separate tables--each with different servers--on a single combined bill, further complicating an already frustrating experience. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing or enjoyable breakfast experience, this would not be the spot to look. read more

It took me a while to decide and ended up ordering the Hot French Dip Sandwich with a bowl of Black Bean Chile. After ordering you take your number and sit anywhere you want. The food came out pretty fast. It was pretty cold that day so I started with the Black Bean Chile. I can't take much heat, and the chile was super spicy for my taste. But it was pretty good I think? My taste buds were numb. The French Dip was a bit dry and the dipping sauce was too salty as were the french fries. It did satisfy my appetite though. Overall, it was average. We visited for breakfast during our Colorado roadtrip to escape Florida summer. Good biscuits and gravy. I ordered the Bronco which was 2 eggs (over easy), 2 bacon slices, hash browns and 2 (large) pancakes. I audibly gasped when the plate arrived and my eggs (over medium) were on top of the pancakes. This place was clean, decorated very nicely with good atmosphere. However I'm not a fan of the order at the front and then sit down thing. That's more of a burger joint, fast food type of idea, not a sit down restaurant. We found it difficult to look over the menu and order something, without holding up others. You feel pressured and don't have time to decide on something you want. The place is clean, and service was nice and attentive. However, the food needs a lot of help! The coffee was just okay, and the pancakes were dry and lacking of any flavor. I don't normally have a lot of syrup, but these needed it and soaked it up the instant you put it on. Potatoes were also kinda of dry. This, in particular, was interesting. We were told up front that they were out of hash browns and only had home fries. How is this possible, except if everything is purchased frozen and re-heated, instead of fresh cooked. As a nice restaurant, why would you buy premade potatoes instead of just shredding/cutting up some fresh potatoes yourself? Overall, even though the place is nice and service good, it doesn't make up for the bad ordering experience, and really poor quality food. I have breakfast at the Mountain Lyon several times a week during ski season. Friendly staff, good food, large portions and many vegetarian options. I have enjoyed their pancakes, the biscuits are huge and fresh, vegetarian or Florentine Benedicts, vegetarian Huevos Rancheros, and my favorite the Mile High omelette which is build your own from many options. You order and pay for your food at the counter, they give you a number to take with you while you find a table. Plenty of seating when we went. I probably would have given them 5 stars but the server was not very nice. I felt that she got offended when I asked for hot sauce and a side of sour cream. She seamed annoyed. I ordered the ultimate skillet with cheese sauce. Very yummy. Could have used a little more meat but it was good. I ordered the pancakes with my meal which where small but very yummy. Afraid to admit how many times I went to Mountain Lyon Cafe this year It's our go-to whenever we're in the Silverthorne area! I like that you wait in line at the counter to order because once you walk in you'll be able to see exactly how long you'll be waiting. Once ordering, the food comes out pretty quick - within 10 to 15 mins max. Favorite menu items: breakfast burrito (the green chili is one of my favs), the southwest omelette (the cheese makes it sooo good), the breakfast tacos (2 giant tacos that pack a punch) and the ultimate skillet if you are HUNGRY. Came into town & headed straight to Mountain Lyon for the chicken fried steak & our favorite pancakes but this time I added the Cobb salad & an oatmeal raisin cookie. We're already fans of the chicken fried steak but that oatmeal raisin cookie was the finest, crackly top, crispy edges & chewy center, not too sweet loaded with raisins - swoon. I love a good oatmeal raisin cookie & this is my favorite usurping the Deer Valley Resort & Butterhorn Bakery in Frisco, but maybe I should revisit those two before I make any hasty proclamations. Lip smacking good. But the Cobb Salad was a very pleasant surprise: crisp Romain underlying freshly cooked & crumbled crispy bacon (perfect), chopped tomato, chopped fried egg (not hard boiled an interesting touch), large chunks of warm tender chicken breast (I normally prefer dark meat but this was seared with a nice edge I like it), mound of blue cheese (my favorite), avocado & a side of blue cheese dressing. Altogether a great salad, I like a salad loaded with meat, eggs & fine cheese. Now I have more reasons to love Mountain Lyon cafe & the staff are great. This formally well established restaurant has transitioned to a simpler form of food service. Easier for staff- but not the home style features they had years before. it helps to preview the menu online before entering. Keep in mind there are old menu prices out there. Add at least $3 to the old menu. Service is actually only one person taking the order when you first arrive. So keep in mind when tipping. The booth setup is ok. Lightning is very nice. Food is ample proportions! Just a side note to chef: Onion rings were ok- greasy. Salad was not fresh - brown on the edges. And 2 T of water was in our salad bowl. We had never been here before. They said they were just getting back to waitressing, so the ordering was different than what we ever used to. Stand in line, order and pay and then seat yourself. Our buddy loves coming here so we excited to check it out. We showed up with a large group of friends and had to split into two tables. There weren't many people there so we thought he we'd be in and out. The first of our tables got menus, utensils, water, and coffee and the other table was never was checked on. We had to take the menus from the first table. We had to go inside to the bar and serve ourselves water, coffee, and grab utensils for ourselves. The first table was served and finished their meals before we were able to take our order. We were there for an hour and a half before we were served. The food came out cold and dried out like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. We immediately gave them a card to pay so we wouldn't have to wait another 30 minutes to get checked on. The first table had to go find someone so they could pay after waiting another hour after they finished their meals. We got the card back without a recipient and realized from a bank app we paid way more than what we order for and then found out there was an automated 20% gratuity for tables over 5 people. read more

Talk about a great little find, this pleasantly decorated little eatery was a wonderful find during a recent trip. Both food and the service were well above average.
