Good food and fast service. We came in at 8am on a Saturday, ordered at the counter and had our food shortly after. We had a variety of omelettes, french toast, and a benedict -- all the food was tasty, classic diner food. Be sure to y ry some of their hot sauces. Arrived no onions - ok, it happens. Ordered dry whole wheat toast, served white toast slathered with butter. Again, cured. The question remains, when place is fairly empty and they get entire order wrong, maybe go-to could potentially be no-go. We will try again when we move in, but it's concerning. read more

The Mountain Lyon Cafe is a long standing breakfast place in Silverthorne. It is know for it's great homemade breakfast selection. It took us a while to find them in their new location, which is much bigger and roomier than the old place. We spent the weekend in the mountains for the Thanksgiving holiday and decided to stop in for a quick breakfast. I had the smothered breakfast burrito and my boyfriend had the 2 egg breakfast with bacon. My burrito didn't really have too much green chili... could have used more, but didn't want to pay extra... Humble little joint with wood paneling, awesome music, a buffalo head on the wall, kitschy junk decor, and the biggest gum ball machine I've ever seen. We stopped here for lunch and ordered a buffalo burger and pulled BBQ beef sandwich. Both were cooked well, though under seasoned. Service was friendly and fast despite it being busy inside. The menu had a lot of options, but limited BBQ, which was surprising since they had a travel food trailer out front that mentioned their BBQ. Have been going here for years when in summit county; ample seating, most of it in booths. Order at front, then table service provided for refills. Wow! What a great stop between Steamboat and Denver! We had an excellent breakfast...beat meal we had in Colorado!! Whether you get an ultimate scramble, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, or a French dip, you will have MORE than enough food to share! Potatoes O'Brien with cheese are delicious!! Hubby had to sit outside in the freezing weather along with a few other diners while me and the kid crammed in along the walls to avoid being turned into human icicles outside. I loved the vegetarian options this restaurant offered! I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with diced potatoes O'Brian on the side. This review is for the breakfast and the killer pork green chili. I brought two 'tubs' back to Chicagoland and I'm not sharing it either. Damn that chili is good. I ate it as a soup and had my excellent corned beef and eggs smothered in it. They have a great omelette selection mostly with a Colorado/New Mexico flair meaning the green chili again. The corned beef appeared to be homemade with big chunks of corned beef and potatoes mixed together. Five stars for the chili and four stars overall. Friendly folks and good service. I am absolutely not a fan of their breakfast food. If you want a good hangover breakfast that's fast and greasy Mountain Lyon is great for that. They have a great food truck that services food at the amphitheater in Dillon. I have not been disappointed by the food truck food. The restaurant is just not for me. I like healthier options for breakfast food. That is just my opinion. Judge for yourself. Also you have to order at the counter and they no longer wait on you. Seems the customer is never right here. I used to love the Mountain Lyon Cafe at it's old location--it was a totally different experience. Now, you walk up and order and take a number to a table. They bring your drinks over and then food. I understand this is a change following Covid that they've decided to keep. Other than a rude kid delivering your drinks (never asking if you want refills) and then your food, you might as well be at a fast food joint. My veggie omelette was wrong and packed with meat which I didn't realize until a few bites in. I had to go to the kitchen and told a bus boy that I received the wrong item. That was it. I chased down the kid (Juan) who brought the food to the table and he barked something at me as he walked in the kitchen. I asked someone to grab him because I had no idea what Juan said. He told me that I ordered the regular omelette, which I know I didn't--I don't eat meat and my friend heard me as well. Juan insisted I ordered the meat omelette and told me that they would make me a new one. By this time, the other people at my table were well into their food and I was extremely frustrated. I asked for the manager and she was at the cash register. Her response was that they're really busy and I said Juan was rude, who was watching the convo and smirking. I don't care what kind of establishment you are, customers should still be treated with respect. Then the table next to us got their food and orders were wrong. Juan brought over the sales slip and told them what they ordered (different than what they said they ordered). This isn't the way to do business and I have no desire to be treated rudely by a kid who has zero concept of the service industry. read more

We were there just about every weekend, got to the point where we knew the wait staff, and regularly ran into friends while eating a quality breakfast at reasonable prices. The combination of the move + COVID have sent it downhill, to the point where last weekend my five year old asked me what was wrong with the food. Really bad food; the Hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict is disgusting - looks and tastes like a mix of mustard and puke (see picture) and the English muffin is a soggy distasteful hockey puck that they obviously don't put in a toaster - but instead on the grill - so it can soak up all the disgusting grease from the swill they cook. Wife's egg sandwich suppose to come with cheese - which is nowhere to be found - unless they are putting a tiny sprinkle of cheese into the scrambled egg that was part of her sandwich. Check out the disgusting picture of the ketchup cap that they want you to touch, before you handle your food. They can't be bothered to clean properly. A dump that we will not return to. read more

I am vey sad that this place changed ownership or changed something because they used to be a place I told everyone to go to. Not anymore. We had the biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak for breakfast. They were both disgusting and we both felt sick after eating here. His eggs were very under cooked and were basically raw, his chicken fried steak was mush and the gravy had no flavor whatsoever. The biscuits for mine were so gross and tasted like cardboard. The service is severely lacking as well. The only people we interacted with was the lady at the order counter and the guy that brought our drinks and food. We were never checked on or anything. I do not like what they've done to the place at all and they have gone downhill very fast. IHOP or Denny's is a better choice then here. If you're looking for somewhere with good food and service you better keep looking. I sadly will not be recommending coming here nor will I return. read more

These guys are pros. On a Sunday morning, the place was PACKED and the staff just runs the whole operation like a freaking war room, and still manage to be nice and give good service. I think it would be a great idea to put a couple of warmers outside so people can wait on the porch. It gets cold up in the mountains - when we were here it was 12F so people wait inside and the place gets really crowded. And now for the actual thing we came here for: the food. The portions are big and the food is yummy. I had the pork medallions which I felt was a bit of a gamble, but they were awesome. Pancakes are called here "Colorado cakes" for some reasons but in any case they're good. Looking around, every dish they brought out just looked awesome. This is a really nice lunch location! Went here during the day and it wasn't too busy. Service was good and I ordered the French Dip with onion rings. The beef was tender, easy to chew, and au jus delicious. The sandwich filled me up pretty good and was satisfied. Bf ordered the Chicken Fried Steak which he said was good and mom ordered breakfast. She said the biscuit was a bit dry (also homemade) and was pleased that her fruit came with a good amount of slices. Most she's ever seen accompany a dish. The food was good (I had the breakfast tacos with green Chile -yum!) but we were not able to order an alcoholic drink and I believe that this used to be available. The green chili had a bit of a kick to it - yummy. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and will be making this our go-to spot whenever we stop in Silverthorne. Ohhh I really liked Mountain Lyon Cafe.. and I keep enjoying it at home because I have several bottles of their hot sauce in my kitchen cabinet. Something about this area of Colorado and hot sauces.. so many restaurants make and sell their own, or sell locally produced ones. I for one love it! I also kinda loved my breakfast. That being said, chorizo anything will make me happy any (time of) day. Some eggs, fresh avocado and fruit - and mayyyybe a few small bites of some fluffy pancakes started the day off right. My favorite breakfast spot is a half an hour up the road in Idaho Springs, but MLC is a really good one, too! Plus, it is right off the road which is super convenient. read more
