I had very high expectations for this restaurant coming into it because all of the places I've had in Silverthorne have been amazing; both with food and hospitality. This place missed every single mark. Our food took almost an hour to come out and parts of it was cold. Hubbys pancake was hard (not crispy hard, like heat lamp hard) and one of the items on my plate was a completely cold, unbuttered English muffin. The eggs were cooked wrong (I ordered over medium and they were barely over easy with tons of runny white still and hubby ordered hard scrambled and they were scrambled and runny still), and our waiter stopped in to fill water cups once but did not check in or ask how we were while we were waiting. I'm typically pretty easy going -- I understand mistakes are made sometimes. That is easily redeemable if the service is good; but the service was not. Our server made it seem like we were an inconvenience. 1026 - we got the text our table was ready. We requested a booth (and mentioned we would wait longer got a booth) but got a table. Okay fine, it happens 1038 - we finally had a server ask if we want something to drink. We ordered drinks and it was at least 10 more minutes before they came to take our order. Our order was submitted and it was nearly 45 minutes for the (cold) food to come out. During the wait we were not checked on at all. No one asked us if we were good or needed anything-- or let us know the food was delayed. When the food finally came (again, cold) it was dropped at the table and it was another 15 mins before our server even acknowledged us again. The lady who helped him drop the food was nicer than he was, and asked if we needed anything else; while he couldn't be bothered. We are walking out now at 1140. Our server checked on us a total of 3 times and got rude when his tip was reduced for that. Important to note -- the table behind us had walked in as our food was being served and they got their entire order (6 people) before we left. Different server, so it may not be the entire place, however your servers are a reflection of your company. Unacceptable and we will not be back read more

I understand in mountain towns breakfast locations can be busy but this was disappointing on all levels. We arrive and check in at the host stand with a phone number. We will be notified with a text when our table is ready. We were told 20 minutes. Tell me why it was an hour...still waiting, other groups with the same number of people as our group were seated before us and arrived after us. I went to the host stand to ask if we were up soon? Magically we're next and they pointed to a table that wasn't even clean that was ours. Waited a bit more. Table is clean but no one sat us? Waited about 10 more minutes waiting to be seated and finally we just sat down ourselves. A gentleman did come and apologize for the wait and brought a dessert for us to share. Thank you for the kindness and apology. Thinking this was the only hiccup. Nope. The family orders drinks and food at the same time. We're hungry and ready to go! Our group didn't get one drink until our food came 30 minutes later? Would have been nice to sip on our coffees and beverages while we waited for our food. Then the food came...what a disappointment. It may look lovely to the eyes but nothing was seasoned. It was sub par at best. We had planned to come the next morning while we waited the hour with all the selections we wanted to try. Not happening. I wished so much that the food and drinks were delish. Feels like if you're there since 1977 you can serve bland food and not care because you have legacy. read more

We stop by this small town cafe on the way to steamboat spring. Small town with lots of character. This establishment is super crowded, the host is super efficient with checking in and report via text once table is ready. Food: salmon with brown rice plate is excellent, steak and egg plate - eggs cooked well, however the steak sirloin is dry and well done for medium rare and dry. I would not recommend steak here. Sandwich is decent. Drinks are yummy. Cappuccino and frapp are delicious. Overall, this place just needs faster service, more waiter/waitress to accommodate the volume of customers on peak time read more

Cute restaurant with good food. I got the country breakfast and was able to get gluten free toast with my meal. Food was delicious. The gluten free bread is not able to be free from cross contamination, so something to keep in mind if you're celiac. I did feel they may have been understaffed as it was difficult to get someone to refill my coffee and water. Would absolutely go back. read more

OMG how good can it be. My trout and eggs amazing, the Alferd omelet was made like a real omelet should be. Ashley was a great server with coffee when we needed, food came out quick. Nice looking place with Keystone and skiing history on the walls with many things to read if you get the chance. Get here early, they opened at 7, on a wait by 8. Food: The breakfast enchiladas with chorizo, smothered with Colorado Green Chile and sitting on a bed of hash browns in an overly filling meal. Between the eggs, enchiladas, and hash browns, I was more than full and needed a take-home box as well. The flavors are good and the chorizo is spicy enough to stand out even among the smothering. Steer clear of the red Chile which is tomato and beans- would absolutely change the meal. Service: 2nd rush ~ we came in at 9 and were seated by 9:15. Our server said the first rush starts at 7AM and there is a line out the door. So come at 9 for a non-rushed sit-down ;-) The server was friendly and attentive. Payment expectation for restaurants is shifting though. When I was handed the credit card machine to check out, my suggested tip was between 22-30%, with a custom tip button as well. Ambience: The customers here are the general Dillon population and working class. It's not as bare bones as a diner, and not hoyty toyty like restaurants in neighboring Breck. Our experience at sunshine Café was great! Our server Claudio was super attentive and nailed all the details of our order! When we sat the staff also realize we'd be much more comfortable at a bigger table, so they moved our group quite quickly without us asking. I ordered the huevos rancheros with added bacon, and the green chili on top. The meal was killer and I highly recommend not having to drive down the mountain after eating this because a nap would've been much better. I also had a spicy Bloody Mary Which came with a pickle, some banana, peppers and bacon in it. My only qualm with anything at this meal is that my bacon was at the bottom of the Bloody Mary, which was kind of wet and congealed. Would have been much better if it were on top! We had to wait about 45 minutes to get a table at sunshine Café and it was definitely worth it. Will be back in the future for any other mountain weekends! Our groups split a couple of cinnamon rolls, which were wildly good. I think it was cream cheese frosting, but it was so rich and creamy, and the roll itself was super fluffy and absorbed the frosting perfectly. Food was perfect! Service was even better! Kevin is fantastic at his job. He is very charismatic, attentive, and great with social interactions. You can tell not only by interacting with our table but how he makes everyone feel comfortable at surrounding tables which sets a nice tone for the restaurant. He gave us great advice about hiking in the area. He was also extremely nice about letting us stay around the 90 minute table mark. That was a huge help since we were traveling and needed somewhere to get some things done. Food, I had the trout with SSU eggs and it was fantastic! We also had the chorizo Benedict with sides of corned beef hash and French toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and extremely tasteful. We sure will be back when in the area. The food was great but Kevin made our experience worth coming back for. We will watch out for the mountain lions that are rarely seen there except for your random interaction. We went here on a Sunday morning - unsurprisingly but still frustratingly a mistake. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait but it was actually over half an hour, not the end of the world.. but the worst part was waiting over an hour for our food! Especially because the table next to us had a different waiter & he provided them a complimentary cinnamon roll when we got there before them. Granted, we already ordered a cinnamon bun but it would have been a very appreciated gesture to comp it or anything really. The food itself was a large portion & tasty. Wow! I just had the best breakfast I've had in years. I went in with the country fried steak in mind. When the people next to us ordered the chicken enchiladas with eggs and green pork chili, I decided to step out of my regular choice of breakfast delights. I can't say enough about this menu selection. If baby Jesus came back for Christmas, he would definitely eat the enchiladas for breakfast...and I'm atheist. Kevin was the server. Despite being extremely busy, he was attentive and friendly. Waters were refilled often. Everyone from the staff kicked in to help. Overall this place was decent for breakfast. I like that they have the option for 1/2 meal portions (they're not half the cost, but still a little reduced). I had the 1/2 country breakfast with sourdough toast. The toast did not taste like sourdough, and the scrambled eggs were bland of course, but the sausage was good. The 1/2 blue river was a way better choice, as it was an egg scramble with lots of flavor from all the toppings like onions and cheese. I had a pumpkin butterscotch muffin (grilled) to go. Grilling didn't really do much for it. It was a very basic muffin with a few butterscotch chips scattered in. I deducted a star for service because the waitress/cook overlooked one of our party's breakfast order. (Which can happen with a large party and a full restaurant). After advising the waitress of the oversight there was no explanation, or attempt at any kind of apology. We had a table of 6 adults, after around 10 or 15 minutes and no update on the status of our missing meal, 5 of us shared our breakfast with 6th person.
