We just finished riding The Rocky Mountain Coaster and we're hungry and decided to grab some food at the resort. The outdoor setting of Downhill Duke's was appealing and we are dog people and enjoyed the dog theme. We enjoyed reading the menu, especially the dog-themed cocktail drink names. Came here for a lunch on a Tuesday early afternoon. Unfortunately, they did not have many ingredients for not only the food menu, but the bar menu as well. For instance, I was going to get the Earl Greyhound Mojito, a bar favorite, but they did not have the Cruzan Aged rum. Instead, I got the Smell the Flowers Mule ($13) which was light and refreshing, especially with the addition of the lavender syrup. The bartender was very accommodating. I got the smoked German bratwurst ($15). Unfortunately it did not come with the DHD grain mustard which I t him would have been the perfect addition to the brat. The beer braised cabbage was okay... but the potato salad however was really good. Everything was nice and I wish I could give this place at least 4 stars, but the lack of ingredients causing a limited menu really lowered the experience for me. read more

Rude servers!!!! Sat at empty table and was told we have to check in at server station . Ok i get it but no signs saying that and no one waiting. Got up went to station to be told it fine go sit there. Sat down to wait for a server , its monday and not crowded and waited and waited only to be told if my daughter orders chicken tenders they cant swap the drink for hot cocoa even with an upcharge that she has to get both drinks. Needless to say after the rude waitress and bullshit of my young daughter having to order multiple drinks we left and went elsewhere, highly recommend not going there, seems like the bullshit money grab at epic resorts! Super cute patio at the base of Copper!! The story is adorable and I love dogs so obviously had to come check it out. Plenty of space outside to sit, unfortunately there's no inside but luckily the weather is nice most of the time. I got the taco platter and it's totally worth it. You build your own tacos and could share with another person if you aren't starving. The drinks are named with fun dog names and my friend got the burger, also delicious! Docked one star because when there's snow on the roof..and it's windy...there's a high chance you will have snow blowing in your face every few minutes. They may want to consider some kind of screen that can be easily added to block the snow. read more

Absolutely trash, just go eat at the cafeteria hall. You can tell the owner probably owns a Vail Pass, and probably only hires people that rock with vail. First off copper mountain is advertised as the "athlete's mountain" just for those that don't know. Me and my homies were riding park at copper on a weekday. We head down to the base because one of my dogs wanted some brews. Went down to downhill and me and my other dog go take a seat at the tables while our dog buys two beers. It's a weekday. They have one other table being used. Probably have 98% of their tables available. While we wait for my buddy a waitress comes up with menus and we say "we are good, just hanging out with our friend that's getting some beers at the bar". Then this person Nayeli, definitely giving off vail vibes, tells us we can't sit at the 20 empty tables unless we are ordering food. I said " well my friend is buying himself a beer right now". And she said nah you have to sit at the bar?????? Like what???? Sorry, but the establishment is getting our money either way, we should be able to sit wherever we want. I'd get it if it was the weekend and they were busy. SHOUT OUT TO NAYELI FOR MAKING US FEEL AT HOME AT MY HOME MOUNTAIN IVE BEEN ON FOR 20+ YEARS. I've stopped by this spot a few different times and everything I've ever had has been delicious here. The first few times I ate the burgers and wings. This time around I tried out the roasted pepper smoked gouda bisque, fried chicken sandwich, & grilled artichoke flatbread (mixed herb pesto, marinated grilled artichokes, roasted tomatoes, feta, mozzarella, and pickled red onions). A really great place for bloodies, beers and apps while skiing at copper! The spicy bloody was sooo good, had lots of accoutrements and was only $8! The beers were pretty cheap as well as a huge basket of French fries. I highly recommend for some apres. I've been skiing at Copper Mountain (my favorite ski area) for 40 years. Last week I went (as I often have in the past year or so) to Downhill Dukes -- an entirely outdoor restaurant. Having had another long, cold session on the mountain, and seeing all the seats by the fire were open, I asked to be seated by the fire pit, so as to warm my hands and comfortably relax for a bit of lunch. But ... I was told by the host that "Oh, by policy I'm not allowed to seat singles by the fire. You'd have to be with someone." Now, I typically order at least one drink, and food, and have often introduced my friends to the restaurant, which offers really nice, inventive cocktails, good local beers, and flavorful upscale ski hill grill food options. I pay my share, equal to any other. I was, frankly, surprised and more than a little annoyed by this shabby treatment. Apparently the dogs are welcome, but I'm not. A foolish policy? Yes, and worse - counter-productive. Because shortly thereafter, the host seated a group of 3 by the fire - leaving an EMPTY 4th fireside chair. Meanwhile, I was seated at a 2-top, which therefore left a second EMPTY chair at my table. So: Two seats that could have had paying customers seated in them during a busy period, but now would not, because of a misguided policy. Similarly, as I overheard the host turn away yet another single skier asking to be seated by the fire, I saw there were but two people at the other fire pit, and TWO empty chairs. THAT potential customer opted to leave the restaurant. So, how counterproductive is that? Still feeling chilled, I went over to ask the group of 3 if they'd mind me taking the spare chair on the other side of the fire, across from them; they cheerily replied, 'Of course! It's not OURS!' and laughed out loud, incredulously, at the very notion when I explained I'd been told I could not be seated there. We had a nice, convivial conversation ... The fire pit areas are, quite naturally, viewed as communal seating. It's only the table-centered 2-tops, 4-tops, and 6-tops, that are presumed to be the province of coherent pairs or groups sharing an actual table together, NOT the individual seats clustered before the two fire pits. Just as one does on a chairlift, we all sit together, we all chat together, and everyone is contentedly comfortable. I have decided that, if ever I am faced with this rejection in the future, I will do as the other rejected patron did, and no longer frequent Downhill Dukes at all, at ANY time. Instead, I'll heigh myself off to any of the many other fine establishments on the mountain, being sure to take any guests with me. I'd encourage Downhill Duke's to re-think the efficacy of their current policy. At present, that policy sends the message, "Since you happen to be skiing by yourself, you're not welcome here, and don't rate a seat by the fire even if you ask for it." A far better approach when an individual asks to be seated in an empty, available seat by the fire would be, "Yes, of course! And by the way, fire pit seating is communal, so others may join you if the other fireside seats are open." Better to be inclusive, NOT offensively exclusive. Were it so, this would be a 5-star rating. read more

Great service! So, me and my friends sat here and drank after one of us got injured and we watched the workers deal with the most entitled people ever with a smile on their face, which was seriously impressive! The servers and bartenders here work their butts off in the elements and people skip the hour long wait to sit wherever they want, and then have the audacity to get mad when asked to move. Despite all of that the service and food here were on par, our server Abby was phenomenal even when dealing with rude guests and being incredibly busy! Definitely recommend! read more

Not impressed with this bar. Sat outside at the bar, service was very slow. Four beers on draft, 2 of those are 10 Barrel Brewing and both are IPAs! If you only have 4 droughts, 50% shouldn't be IPAs and shouldn't be from the same brewer. I chose the Irish Coffee which was good but could face been hotter. Ate lunch at Dukes. Long wait for food. Took 1 1/2 hours waisting valuable ski time. Can only describe service as near chaos. Received food we did not order. Never received some food did order. Appetizer came out when almost finished with meal. Watched multiple employees going table to table trying to find who ordered the food. Seemed to have plenty of wait staff but did not matter. Chris, our server, was fantastic. The hamburger was excellent, as well as the smoked salmon sandwich. We love the fries and most of the chips and dips appetizer. We did not care for the guacamole, it's seem to have too much cilantro and lime juice or something. Every other bar and grill in the area allowed my teenagers to sit at bar but not this girl bartender. However, service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. 15+ min just to get waters for two of us and it wasn't even peak hours. Watched multiple parties sit down and get back up because our server "Adam" simply didn't pay attention to them or anyone around. Would love to blame Adam but it starts out at the top.
