Decided to visit Mountain Oaks Cafe for a steak dinner while in Oakhurst. I've been to this location several times before when in the Oakhurst/Yosemite area. It was quite busy but was able to be seated immediately. Clean inside and plenty of dining tables with cool wall decors. For this visit, ordered the following: ***Buffalo wings for appetizers 4/5 ***12 ounce ribeye medium rare with baked potato and veges $32. Also served with garlic bread 4/5 ***For dessert, got a red velvet cheesecake 5/5 Got a lemonade for a drink. All the items were delicous! The ribeye cooked medium rare as requested was super tender. A1 Steakhouse was available at the table. The red velvet cheesecake was really yummy too! Sooo good! Staff are courteous and very accommodating. Will be back again when in the area.

Highly recommend sitting on the patio! There are portable heaters for chilly days, the view is stunning!

What an amazing place! Great food, amazing staff. We were having car issues our server was very attentive and made sure to keep our drinks full and had everything we needed while waiting for roadside assitance assistance. Seems to be a very popular place for the locals! Always a good sign.

Stayed super close to this place on a recent Yosemite trip and tried it out for dinner. We each ordered a pasta which came with a side of soup or salad. I tried the shrimp Alfredo over fettuccine with a side salad. My boyfriend, I believe tried their steak and shrimp pasta, but I can't remember what sauce he got. We both loved our plates and would definitely go back. Everything was well priced, and there is plenty of parking. We were seated immediately, and the service was also very good.

Well, I was certainly mislead by this restaurant's good reviews. After I walked in I was promptly greeted. The waiter asked if I wanted a coke or iced tea, I ordered iced tea as I didn't have a chance to peruse the menu before he arrived. After, I saw a menu with the drinks I had an in pictures online, so I ordered a margarita. I got the iced tea, it was pretty good. Then the margarita came. Looked nothing like the menu, and tasted EXACTLY like a margarita tastes without ANY tequila in it. I asked a waitress if the margaritas come with tequila, she said "Oh does it taste like no tequila is in there? I can bring you a shot" and she then brought me a shot of tequila. She didn't seem surprised, does this happen often here? After I got my food, (I ordered the bacon abs blue cheese burger) I noticed something strange in my fries... I asked my waiter what it was and he said he didn't have his glasses and couldn't tell. He tried to walk away and said "Maybe she can tell then?" The waitress said "hmm, I guess it's part of the batter?" Gross. At the end of it all, they didn't make me confident they knew what it was, no attempt to better the situation. The waiters just didn't care. I highly recommend skipping this place. I wont ever return if I'm in town again. I'd rather go to the 41 BBQ spot.

I was staying in Ahwahnee on a girls trip and we wanted a cute brunch place. The town is small so there weren't a lot of options but we found this place with a nice view, margs, and brunch all day. We decided to come here and were super excited to get out into the town. We were seated immediately for a group of 9 outside. The server was very nice and our food came out quicky. I really enjoyed getting my cinnamon roll and side of hash browns they were delicious. Everyone also really enjoyed their food and there were no leftovers! I would highly recommend trying this place out if you're ever in town. It's a quaint diner and has amazing food options!

MOUNTAINS OAKS CAFE @ OAKSHURST Parking is available in their small lot, and there were plenty of spaces when my friends and I came around 1 PM on a Wednesday. We had a party of nine, and they were able to seat us pretty easily. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the overall vibe is very cute, simple, and cozy, definitely giving that homey diner feel. The menu has a great mix of both savory and sweet options. My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes, some stuck with the basics like pancakes, bacon, and eggs, while others tried items like the cinnamon roll French toast, which was incredible. Overall, I really loved the vibes here. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable, and they also offer mimosas for just $8. Our waiter was extremely kind, friendly, and helpful, which made the experience even better. The ambiance, service, and food were all great, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Breakfast spot first time at this restaurant. Needed a breakfast spot before a flight and this looked great! Service was friendly and quick. We were a group of four and it was early and no wait. It's was a bit quiet. There is an outside patio, but there was a bit chill outside, so inside was preferred. Food was fresh and hot the hunger ! I recommend if anyone is in this area.

My husband and I took a drive to bass lake and on the way back decided to try a different restaurant and came upon this place .Walked in and seemed like it was a place the locals go to . We got seated and found what we wanted to order my Hubby ordered a burger and fries and I got a chicken sandwich . It was a lot of food and it was delicious !!!! So glad we came here . We would definitely try this place again .

The food here is really good.. they have a good selection on their menu and so far everything we have had has been delicious! If you visit on a day when they have pozole, definitely try it. It was very tasty and authentic. Their pastas are yummy and the Bbq was tender and tasty. The restaurant was clean and it has plenty of room. The service was ok.. both occasions we have been there, they have been distracted/ not paying attention.. but polite. The good food is worth going back.

The food was good. I had a lumberjack burger. And that thing is a monster. I do wish they made that in a regular size. Its that big. It didn't lack anything. And I had it with the curly fries. Crispy well cooked. The service was good. I do wish they offered us patio seating though. But it was good. Ambiance was what you would expect. Nothing flashy, I would definitely come back. And a wide variety of food. It will definitely fit the whole family. Something for everyone.

The food was delicious and it was a big portion size. The chicken was tender and juicy. The bbq burger, not pictured, was juicy and extra delicious with coleslaw added to it.

Wow! We had a great experience coming here from start to finish. We were kindly greeted and welcomed to our table where we had Eduardo as our server. I asked server of his popular recommendations and boy did he not steer me wrong. I had the Country Fried steak and OMG! I shamelessly ate the whole thing! It was darn good and that's bc I lost hope in finding a great tasting steak. My daughter has the smiling face chocolate chip pancake and she loved her food too. I'm not pancake fan either but they were yummy. My husband's burrito was good. I observed how well everyone worked together as a team. I love seeing camaraderie. The ambiance was nice and welcoming but very busy.if it wasn't cold, I would have gone to the patio but maybe another time. I do plan to come back. We had a fabulous breakfast at the Mountain Oaks Cafe. We shared the Farmers Benedict and it was sooo much food. The coffee was good. The atmosphere is so cute. Everybody is so happy and so happy to see you! Super clean and American mountain ambiance!!The owners are amazing as the father and son run it! Food is fantastic. Very tasty! I have to say, you see something on the menu, it's exactly what it's coming out to you!! As it should be! Finally, something other than "Lenny's" right here in Oakhurst . Well, I can't say enough about this place! Also, if you've heard anything regarding the owners, do yourself a favor sit down and talk to him. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad. Don't bother. What few, little pieces of chicken that were there were dry and leathery. Their desserts are very good but that was an accidental plus that they have gluten-free desserts on occasion. It was delicious! read more

We visited on a Friday during a holiday weekend. The restaurant was busy and several people were waiting just to be added to the waitlist. They did not have a designated host but one gentleman seemed to be trying to cover many areas including host. Even with that, the wait for 2 was less than 15 minutes. The menu has the normal breakfast offerings and a good number of Benedict choices. We opted for the Griddle Pick and the Chorizo omelette. Both were good/average. For the Griddle pick, my husband chose scrambled eggs, bacon, and a waffle. The bacon and waffle were good, but would have opted for no powdered sugar on the waffle. The omelette was not overly large, but our request for the salsa and sour cream to be on the side was half forgotten (salsa was on the side but the sour cream was right on top). The beans were bland, but I wasn't expecting them to come with the meal anyway. The country potatoes had good flavor with peppers. We took the pancakes to go because I am a butter snob and the restaurant serves margarine. The restaurant is clean and the tables are not crowded together. If in the area I would try other places, but not complain if this was the only choice. read more

I came with a group of 9 friends and we received amazing service! Our server Amanda was the sweetest and gave us many recommendations! We were all between a few options and she gave us great recommendations for what we were feeling! All the other staff members were very kind as well, often checking up on us and filling our waters without having to ask. The food was great! They have amazing portion sizes and breakfast all day! I got the carne asada taco salad which was huge and also delicious! I would definitely recommend Mountain Oaks Cafe and will be back if I'm in the area! read more

We stopped in for lunch today. I knew we were in for a treat as soon as I took the first sip of my iced tea. Its the real thing. Not the instant stuff from a jar. All menu items are available all day. I ordered the BBQ burger. It was excellent. I chose onion rings for my side. Again the real thing. I haven't had onion rings this good in a long time. My husband had the chili verde burrito. He was thrilled with his choice. It was so large he brought half home. Our server, Andrew, was amazing. He even brought to go cups for our beverages without being asked. We regret not saving room for dessert. We will definitely be back! read more

I ordered the fried steak and eggs, which came with a side of buttered toast and potatoes.. The Steak was okay and the potatoes were delicious, but the eggs were plain, no toppings or flavor, which I (should've?) expected... but the table did have salt and pepper. The toast was stale-ish and not that great.. I would come again, but I think that something sweet would be better. read more

We came here twice during our trip! Breakfast served here is delicious. Portions served are plentiful - my LO and I shared California omelette and it was enough food for the both of us. Service is quick. We saw beautiful landscapes from a window near our booth. The first day we visited Mountain Oaks Cafe. We called ahead of time to make a reservation. Somehow, our reservation was lost. However, even with the lost reservation, we enjoyed visiting this restaurant because the food experience was really good. read more

Been here several times and again had some issues with the food, although minor, they can't seem to get our orders correct. Let me just say, they have excellent tasting food and we will be back, my wife ordered the grownup grilled cheese with NO onions, it came with onions. Her tortilla soup was excellent as was other soups she's ordered. My bbq burger was ordered to be cooked medium and it was well done, my fries I asked to be well done and they were just cooked normal. Neither was a big deal but at the same time they were not what we asked for. Service was great as always! Hope the next time they get our orders correct. read more

Stopped by for breakfast after staying overnight at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite in Fishcamp (not much good food options in the area). Bright and open restaurant interior, friendly and cheerful staff, and really really good food. The waiters came around frequently to refill coffee/drinks, and any other needs. The place is kid friendly as well. This place has become one of my must go to restaurants whenever I'm in the Yosemite area. read more

Has breakfast here and it was so delicious we went back for dinner. We did takeout and everything was delicious. We got onion rings, fish and chips, and a giant burger. Everything was amazing and big portions. We even went back for lunch the next day. Had burgers and tri tip soup and was not disappointed. Definitely recommend! read more

This quaint Mountain themed restaurant about 30 min south of the entrance to Yosemite National Park is worth checking out. We stopped in, after leaving Yosemite, for lunch. The menu is well stocked as are the daily specials. I had the Chicken Tortilla soup to start and the Open-faced Prime Rib for my entree. Both were awesome! Jairo was our server, he was friendly and professional! Definitely make the Mountainside Cafe when visiting Yosemite!! read more

The wait staff are some of the best around. So friendly and on top of everything. My husband had a pastrami sandwich and said the sauce on it was really good and different. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with avacado and bacon. Really flavorful. Both came with season fries. They were less than warm. Not much seasoning. Still okay. Great spot for lunch or dinner. We had a delicious dinner with excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Chris, our waiter was very attentive and positive. I had the fish and chips that were so good and plentiful. The fish was fresh and flaky and the fries were delicious. My wife had the tri tip dinner and the portion was so large she couldn't eat but about half the meal. I did sample it and it was delicious as well. We look forward to finishing it later tonight. I have no reservation in giving this cafe a 5 Star Rating. read more

I used to go almost every day, I've supported them consistently, bought drinks and beans there regularly, and it was part of my daily routine during a really difficult time in my life. My usual drink isn't available on their online ordering system, so I've always called ahead to place my order. That has never been an issue before. They knew my order so well that they referred to it as "the Amy Special," and there were times my drink was prepared ahead of time for me to pick up when I arrived. Today I called to place my usual order. I was told the person on the phone was the owner, and I was told they had been discussing my drink and that it was "very unusual," and that I would need to come in to order instead. I asked for clarification because I've always ordered the same way for months. I was told again that I would need to come in, and that my drink was too complicated to order over the phone. I explained that I've been ordering this drink the same way for a long time and that I've always been able to call it in before. After I said I was going through a hard time and wasn't really up for coming in, the call ended. When I called back, the phone was hung up on multiple times before I was able to briefly speak with someone again. When I did finally speak with someone I recognized, my reaction was emotional because I was confused and hurt by what was happening, and the interaction didn't feel like the experience I had come to expect from them. What I'm upset about is not that a business can change how they operate. What I'm upset about is that there was no clear communication that a policy had changed, and no explanation that made sense of why something that had been routine for months was suddenly not allowed. I'm sharing this because I genuinely thought I had a good relationship with this place as a customer, and today's experience didn't reflect that. This was a place I supported daily for a long time, and it became part of my routine during a period of my life when it genuinely mattered more than people probably realize. That's why today's experience felt so disappointing and hard to process.

Super aromatic and tasted even better since you can see them pulling the espresso shot. My friend's lavender latte was delicious. First floral note giving away to an excellent latte. They know their stuff here. We loved the staff here. Very friendly and helpful, I loved complimenting the baristas on their craft and passing along the cheerfulness from the cashier who was very welcoming. They were very methodical and consistent with each drink, it seems. The shop was cute, with ample parking. The patio was busy-ish with people flocking in and out to pick up their orders once their name was called. I liked the combination of rustic and modern decorations, making for AN EXCELLENT stop before heading in or out of Yosemite. I ordered the wagyu burger but wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I assume they only cook it well-done because that's how it came. It didn't have the juicy buttery flavor of Wagyu, or really any flavor at all. The bread was good. The fries are phenomenal and I liked that more than my burger Carrots & whipped ricotta was good but not great - very flat flavor profile of ricotta, honey, and carrots. I think this dish could've been better with some acidity like a bit of lemon on the side. The chicken pesto penne pasta was good, but still flat. It would be better with cherry tomatoes or something to give it depth. The pasta was cooked perfectly Despite the chicken being absolutely tiny (approx 4"), it was juicy. Wish there was more of it I didn't care for the butternut squash soup but my husband liked it. It had good flavor but was very thin. Overall the place is pretty, but I wouldn't return as the food was very forgettable. It's a shame that the best thing was the side of fries. I'm giving a 4 due to the food tasting clean/quality.

That is exactly what happened during my recent dinner at Elderberry House. I visited with a group of four, and between us, we had two gluten-free diners and one vegetarian. After a quick heads-up the day before, the restaurant handled our needs with total ease. We went for the five-course tasting menu, and it was incredible from start to finish. We kicked things off with one of the best oysters I have ever had, followed by a beautiful tuna presentation. The kitchen even looked out for our gluten-free friends with a special version of their herbal-butter focaccia that was actually delicious. By the time the main courses arrived, I honestly could not decide if I liked my beef or my friend's snap pea risotto better; every single bite was pure perfection. The cocktails were another high point. My first drink was great, but after chatting with our server, Jordan, I decided to try the Last Word. It featured that hard-to-find green chartreuse, and I am a little annoyed to report that I have a new favorite cocktail that requires such a rare ingredient. No clue if they added someone's drink to my total but very annoying. This is the first time I've ever been over charged. Everything here in general is overpriced unfortunately.

The service we received was exceptional and very much appreciated . Our server Robert was great and did an excellent job. He was friendly and knowledgeable. You could tell they treat every customer as if they're the only person in the winery, despite it being full. Every question we had was met with patience as they guided us on the best food and wine pairing. They also are super accommodating to pets, and were able to enjoy a nice meal with our pup. The food was all fresh and delicious. Everything tasted like it was made from the heart. My husband got the angel hair pasta with chicken, a favorite of his, and it did not disappoint! I got the brown butter sage gnocchi, made with fresh sage from their garden. We also enjoyed the meze board. My husband who does not like falafel was fighting with me for the last piece. For dessert I ate the rosemary shortbread with lemon curd. Just like with the sage the rosemary was also freshly picked from their garden. The shortbread was not too dry but also the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and slightly moist on the inside - the exact way shortbread should be baked. I normally am picky with lemon desserts, but their lemon curd was also perfect - not too sweet and not too sour while still maintaining that fresh flavor. My biggest regret of our visit is not booking a room at their inn. We spent a couple of hours here and immediately felt right at home. I hope to come back one day for the full inn experience.

This place was FANTASTIC! We ran upon it by accident and was so impressed with the food and atmosphere. We ended up going twice because it was so our waiters were so friendly. The portions are very generous and I could only eat 1/2 of a senior breakfast. Everything is homemade and the restaurant was extremely clean. We came at a non-peak time of day. and there was an employee cleaning the baseboards around the restaurant. Heck, most people don't clean their OWN baseboards. I highly recommend! read more

Had such a great experience at the Oaks Mountain Cafe! Came with a big group of us from Montecito, Fidel Senior provided amazing service from start to finish. Super welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. He made the whole atmosphere feel warm and enjoyable.
