Decided to visit Mountain Oaks Cafe for a steak dinner while in Oakhurst. I've been to this location several times before when in the Oakhurst/Yosemite area. It was quite busy but was able to be seated immediately. Clean inside and plenty of dining tables with cool wall decors. For this visit, ordered the following: ***Buffalo wings for appetizers 4/5 ***12 ounce ribeye medium rare with baked potato and veges $32. Also served with garlic bread 4/5 ***For dessert, got a red velvet cheesecake 5/5 Got a lemonade for a drink. All the items were delicous! The ribeye cooked medium rare as requested was super tender. A1 Steakhouse was available at the table. The red velvet cheesecake was really yummy too! Sooo good! Staff are courteous and very accommodating. Will be back again when in the area.

Highly recommend sitting on the patio! There are portable heaters for chilly days, the view is stunning!

What an amazing place! Great food, amazing staff. We were having car issues our server was very attentive and made sure to keep our drinks full and had everything we needed while waiting for roadside assitance assistance. Seems to be a very popular place for the locals! Always a good sign.

Stayed super close to this place on a recent Yosemite trip and tried it out for dinner. We each ordered a pasta which came with a side of soup or salad. I tried the shrimp Alfredo over fettuccine with a side salad. My boyfriend, I believe tried their steak and shrimp pasta, but I can't remember what sauce he got. We both loved our plates and would definitely go back. Everything was well priced, and there is plenty of parking. We were seated immediately, and the service was also very good.

Well, I was certainly mislead by this restaurant's good reviews. After I walked in I was promptly greeted. The waiter asked if I wanted a coke or iced tea, I ordered iced tea as I didn't have a chance to peruse the menu before he arrived. After, I saw a menu with the drinks I had an in pictures online, so I ordered a margarita. I got the iced tea, it was pretty good. Then the margarita came. Looked nothing like the menu, and tasted EXACTLY like a margarita tastes without ANY tequila in it. I asked a waitress if the margaritas come with tequila, she said "Oh does it taste like no tequila is in there? I can bring you a shot" and she then brought me a shot of tequila. She didn't seem surprised, does this happen often here? After I got my food, (I ordered the bacon abs blue cheese burger) I noticed something strange in my fries... I asked my waiter what it was and he said he didn't have his glasses and couldn't tell. He tried to walk away and said "Maybe she can tell then?" The waitress said "hmm, I guess it's part of the batter?" Gross. At the end of it all, they didn't make me confident they knew what it was, no attempt to better the situation. The waiters just didn't care. I highly recommend skipping this place. I wont ever return if I'm in town again. I'd rather go to the 41 BBQ spot.

I was staying in Ahwahnee on a girls trip and we wanted a cute brunch place. The town is small so there weren't a lot of options but we found this place with a nice view, margs, and brunch all day. We decided to come here and were super excited to get out into the town. We were seated immediately for a group of 9 outside. The server was very nice and our food came out quicky. I really enjoyed getting my cinnamon roll and side of hash browns they were delicious. Everyone also really enjoyed their food and there were no leftovers! I would highly recommend trying this place out if you're ever in town. It's a quaint diner and has amazing food options!

MOUNTAINS OAKS CAFE @ OAKSHURST Parking is available in their small lot, and there were plenty of spaces when my friends and I came around 1 PM on a Wednesday. We had a party of nine, and they were able to seat us pretty easily. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the overall vibe is very cute, simple, and cozy, definitely giving that homey diner feel. The menu has a great mix of both savory and sweet options. My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes, some stuck with the basics like pancakes, bacon, and eggs, while others tried items like the cinnamon roll French toast, which was incredible. Overall, I really loved the vibes here. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable, and they also offer mimosas for just $8. Our waiter was extremely kind, friendly, and helpful, which made the experience even better. The ambiance, service, and food were all great, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Breakfast spot first time at this restaurant. Needed a breakfast spot before a flight and this looked great! Service was friendly and quick. We were a group of four and it was early and no wait. It's was a bit quiet. There is an outside patio, but there was a bit chill outside, so inside was preferred. Food was fresh and hot the hunger ! I recommend if anyone is in this area.

My husband and I took a drive to bass lake and on the way back decided to try a different restaurant and came upon this place .Walked in and seemed like it was a place the locals go to . We got seated and found what we wanted to order my Hubby ordered a burger and fries and I got a chicken sandwich . It was a lot of food and it was delicious !!!! So glad we came here . We would definitely try this place again .

The food here is really good.. they have a good selection on their menu and so far everything we have had has been delicious! If you visit on a day when they have pozole, definitely try it. It was very tasty and authentic. Their pastas are yummy and the Bbq was tender and tasty. The restaurant was clean and it has plenty of room. The service was ok.. both occasions we have been there, they have been distracted/ not paying attention.. but polite. The good food is worth going back.

The food was good. I had a lumberjack burger. And that thing is a monster. I do wish they made that in a regular size. Its that big. It didn't lack anything. And I had it with the curly fries. Crispy well cooked. The service was good. I do wish they offered us patio seating though. But it was good. Ambiance was what you would expect. Nothing flashy, I would definitely come back. And a wide variety of food. It will definitely fit the whole family. Something for everyone.

The food was delicious and it was a big portion size. The chicken was tender and juicy. The bbq burger, not pictured, was juicy and extra delicious with coleslaw added to it.

They have a huge menu. Everything you wish that makes it hard to know what's their specialty. :) We have been traveling for over two weeks and my husband felt like ordering a rib eye steak. Wrong choice. It was terrible. Not sure what kind of meat they used. My little one order chicken nuggets they were ok made with like ground chicken. I ordered the salmon pasta to share with my other little one and it was really good. Service was great! read more

Amazing breakfast pit stop on your way out of Yosemite if heading back south!! My husband and I had the steak & eggs and the California Omelette and both were delicious! We ate our last two dinners at this great restaurant. The fish & chips last night was the largest portion I've ever gotten - 8 cod sticks hand battered. My husband got the hamburger that had pastrami on it as well. Tonight we'll plan ordered 2 senior meals (smaller portions- has nothing to do with your age) We ordered the 8 oz NY steak and the Tri-tips - we were both able to finish our meals. Ordered the Raspberry Sorbet Cheesecake for dessert, which was excellent as well. Our waitperson, Chris, couldn't have been any better - easily attending to our needs - including refilling our sodas at no extra charge. If we were local, we'd be weekly regulars! Oh and college football was being broadcast on the multiple TVs in the room, whose volume thankfully was low. Check this place out and tell me you don't agree! read more

Mother's Day about 2pm. Very busy, wait 10 min, booth was very comfortable and large for my 6ft 2in son and me. He had fish and chips he had 6 pieces took 4 home. I had Veggie Omlette with fruit and took half home. Both meals came fast, delicious and my omlette warmed in microwave on reheat perfectly. I cut it into bite sizes with the country potatoes. The Staff was truly amazing and kind. They have lovely outside seating and a great waiting area on the porch. Specialty shops with local artisans to visit. I also had a mimosa .... yummm. read more

Best breakfast in town! We were a party of 20 and were seated right away on a weekday morning. Our waitress was Mari I believe and she was soooo great. Very knowledgeable about the menu and paid attention to the littlest details. Food was delicious. I think everyone in our party was satisfied with their meal. Have eaten here a couple times over the hype of a small town getting a new restaurant. Food is mediocre. Server was hard to order from due to the fact that she was really giving attention to one of our buddies at the table. So much so I got a totally different sandwich than I ordered. What's funny about that is I ordered the same sandwich as the guy next to me. I said, I'll have the same as him but with a salad instead of fries. She got the salad correct but brought me a totally different sandwich than he got? Lol. The sandwich she brought however was good and I didn't bother complaining about it. It's the same owner as several other restaurants in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera ranchos. He came to the table one of the times I have eaten there and introduced himself and seemed like a fairly nice guy. I hear he will be opening another place in coarsegold next. I say it's a solid 3-4 stars out of 5. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE MOUNTAIN OAKS CAFE! What's there NOT to love? The extensive menu, the large portions? The friendly staff? Me and a friend went and we're used to ordering two things and sharing. Think twice if you do this! The first item was plenty for both of us to have a good meal (next time, we'll order one thing to share, then place a second order if we still have room! P.S. Stopped by with my bf after visiting yosemite national park and it filled us up after a long hike. restaurant was very cute. service was good. the hashbrowns and fries were delicious. the salmon was very filling and perfect portion sizes. the bill was a little high but the portion sizes and food was worth it read more

Outstanding fresh homemade food!! Large portion sizes. We had apple pecan chicken salad: great tender juicy chicken, crisp salad, abundant craisins, pecans and delicious dressing. Short visit in Oakhurst and enjoyed a great dinner at Mountain Oaks. Food was delicious (both server, Joe, and kitchen manager checked in on us and rest of customers several times). Actually 6 stars thanks to Amanda's stellar service. My family was staying in a nearby town and choose mountain oaks based on Yelp reviews. It was a great choice. Delicious food and large portions. We ate here once for breakfast, once for lunch, and picked up the"Chile Verde Family Meal" for dinner our last night. I loved the Reuben, for which i substituted thin sliced pastrami for the standard corned beef. Very well constructed and super tasty. Family member with us makes our favorite Chile Verde of anywhere, but even she agreed that Mountain Oaks' was up there with her own. Tender pork, great flavor. Country fried steak was delicious, crispy, fresh. Everything was great. Eat here now. read more

Mountain Oaks Cafe was everything we had hoped for after a long day in Yosemite National Park. We were starving and the portions were just right. The Hot turkey open faced sandwich was delicious and the veggies were divine. The waiter was prompt and very helpful. The ambiance was perfect as we were seated outside on the patio in the late afternoon. I would definitely recommend this place for many reasons. Come check them out. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant. Thought we'd try it for early dinner on a Thursday night as we had heard such good reports. Did not disappoint us. Immediately seated at table for 4. The hostess and waitress were very personable and welcoming. We all ordered dinner from the Senior menus. Fish and chips, grilled chicken, New York steak, and pork ribs. Pork ribs were falling off the bone and so meaty with just the right touch of bbq sauce! Prices excellent, portions huge, all delicious and very comfortable. Reminded us all of the old Mountain Cafe at the corner of 41 and Bass Lake turn off which we loved. We will definitely be back and can't wait to try the breakfast sometime. By the way, breakfast is served all day long as well. Can't say enough good things about things! read more

I've visited this spot many times when in the area. Lots of parking although this place gets really busy during dinner and peak times. This spot is pretty big inside with a bar area and a separate main dining area. Clean and well organized with lots of dining tables. Arrived early for this visit around 4:30pm to beat the dinner crowd. Chose to be seated in the main dining area which was still empty with only a couple tables taken. Provided with a menu and ordered the following: ***Meiomi Pinot Noir 5/5 - superb! $14 ***Bowl of clam chowder 5/5 - a MUST order, sooo flavorful!!! $12 A couple at the next table saw my bowl and asked about it, which I highly recommended and they agreed when they got their bowl. ***Hawaiian salmon kabob 5/5 - so delish! $15 ***Chicken marsala over pasta with veges 4/5 - very tasty! $28 For dessert, got a bruleed cheesecake bites ($9). It was sooo good!! 5/5 Staff are friendly with great customer service! Felicia has been my server and helped me during my last couple of visits. She is so cool! Will definitely visit again.

The food was good and the menu selection had something for everyone. We ordered pastas , burgers, appetizers, salad, soup, and also kids meals. Everything was good and came out in a timely manner. The service we received was exceptional and very much appreciated . Our server Robert was great and did an excellent job. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He made sure we had everything we needed and didn't miss a single thing. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. It is good for large family groups and a great place for a nice dinner .

It was just okay. You could fill up on this food, but I'm sure there's a better quality burger in town elsewhere. It wasn't horrible either though!

I used to go almost every day, I've supported them consistently, bought drinks and beans there regularly, and it was part of my daily routine during a really difficult time in my life. My usual drink isn't available on their online ordering system, so I've always called ahead to place my order. That has never been an issue before. They knew my order so well that they referred to it as "the Amy Special," and there were times my drink was prepared ahead of time for me to pick up when I arrived. Today I called to place my usual order. I was told the person on the phone was the owner, and I was told they had been discussing my drink and that it was "very unusual," and that I would need to come in to order instead. I asked for clarification because I've always ordered the same way for months. I was told again that I would need to come in, and that my drink was too complicated to order over the phone. I explained that I've been ordering this drink the same way for a long time and that I've always been able to call it in before. After I said I was going through a hard time and wasn't really up for coming in, the call ended. When I called back, the phone was hung up on multiple times before I was able to briefly speak with someone again. When I did finally speak with someone I recognized, my reaction was emotional because I was confused and hurt by what was happening, and the interaction didn't feel like the experience I had come to expect from them. What I'm upset about is not that a business can change how they operate. What I'm upset about is that there was no clear communication that a policy had changed, and no explanation that made sense of why something that had been routine for months was suddenly not allowed. I'm sharing this because I genuinely thought I had a good relationship with this place as a customer, and today's experience didn't reflect that. This was a place I supported daily for a long time, and it became part of my routine during a period of my life when it genuinely mattered more than people probably realize. That's why today's experience felt so disappointing and hard to process.

We were also given garlic cheesy bread instead of what we ordered, just garlic bread. Both were good and we had plenty of leftovers. However, the wait time was extremely long. There's plenty of parking in the area and there is indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend ordering ahead of time if possible.

No clue if they added someone's drink to my total but very annoying. This is the first time I've ever been over charged. Everything here in general is overpriced unfortunately.

All of the staff went above and beyond to be super friendly and inviting. It felt like my husband and I were regulars the way the wait staff treated us. You could tell they treat every customer as if they're the only person in the winery, despite it being full. Every question we had was met with patience as they guided us on the best food and wine pairing. They also are super accommodating to pets, and were able to enjoy a nice meal with our pup. The food was all fresh and delicious. Everything tasted like it was made from the heart. My husband got the angel hair pasta with chicken, a favorite of his, and it did not disappoint! I got the brown butter sage gnocchi, made with fresh sage from their garden. We also enjoyed the meze board. My husband who does not like falafel was fighting with me for the last piece. For dessert I ate the rosemary shortbread with lemon curd. Just like with the sage the rosemary was also freshly picked from their garden. The shortbread was not too dry but also the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and slightly moist on the inside - the exact way shortbread should be baked. I normally am picky with lemon desserts, but their lemon curd was also perfect - not too sweet and not too sour while still maintaining that fresh flavor. My biggest regret of our visit is not booking a room at their inn. We spent a couple of hours here and immediately felt right at home. I hope to come back one day for the full inn experience.

This place was FANTASTIC! We ran upon it by accident and was so impressed with the food and atmosphere. We ended up going twice because it was so our waiters were so friendly. The portions are very generous and I could only eat 1/2 of a senior breakfast. Everything is homemade and the restaurant was extremely clean. We came at a non-peak time of day. and there was an employee cleaning the baseboards around the restaurant. Heck, most people don't clean their OWN baseboards. I highly recommend! read more

Had such a great experience at the Oaks Mountain Cafe! Came with a big group of us from Montecito, Fidel Senior provided amazing service from start to finish. Super welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. He made the whole atmosphere feel warm and enjoyable.
