We use Mountain View Body shop often. This appears to be a problem WE have. But Mountain View Body never snickers when we come in.....again. They are always professional, give solid quotes. Help us whether or not insurance will be involved. They have even fixed little minor things that involve a little shove of f a piece to get it to click on better. They do the top end repairs that require paint matching and ordered parts, but also do the little things and give advice about whether it is worth it and or not. They work hard to find the least expensive parts for the repair as well. read more

I have visited six body shops in person and talked with their staffs. I came away with the impression that Mountain View Body Shop would most likely give my vehicle the best and honest care. Their personnel are personable and straight forward yet without being beguiling. My gut feeling tells me that they can be trusted. The organization appears to be well managed and functional. Andrew and his team were great. I recently bought a x3 and they did a great job removing some aftermarket grill inserts from the previous owner and also installing new license plate frames. Both of these tasks were a bit tricky, so I didn't want to do it and risk damaging things. They were able to execute at a fair price. Despite the originally intended technician going on break right before the job started, Andrew adjusted and pulled in somebody else to seamlessly finish the job. RUN!! DO NOT take your vehicle to this auto body. I wish Yelp offered a neg star rating because this place isn't even worth 1 star. I was involved in a auto accident a month ago, with my brand new 2010 car. My car was t-boned by another vehicle. My auto insurance recommended this place as one f their preferred shops. They had an onsite insurance rep that took care of everything, along with onsite car rental, which I was very pleased with. They put on a good show and made me think they were capable of taking good care of my car. My car was finished 14 days later, which I thought was quite a bit of time (they quoted 6-7 days the day I dropped it off) but I thought they must have took their time to make sure everything was excellent. The onsite insurance rep was not able to do the walk-around the day I picked up my car, so the shop assistant stood in for him. He was very pushy and quickly tried to rush me through the inspection. At first glace I noticed 3 items that were not right. A broken air vent inside the door panel, the inside door lining was coming off the door and my floor mats were covered in boot grease w/ boot prints, not to mention greasy finger & hand prints were all over the inside of my light grey interior. When I pointed out these flaws, the mechanic came out to fix the issues (with a huffy attitude). They told me they would have to order a new vent and it would be in within 2-3 days, I could bring my car back at that time. The quickly fixed the lining and told me that they would detail my car when I brought it back for the repair of the broken vent. I agree and left with my car. Within one day of driving my car, several other hidden issues came to the surface. The first ride on the freeway, I heard a huge howling of the wind coming from the two passenger side doors. I tested the doors thinking they were not shut properly, to find that I could slip my hand between the door and side bar (where it should be sealed tight). When I tried to put my passenger window up and down.... it would come up very slow, like it was getting stuck on something. Half way up, the window actually came off the rail and buckled the lining, causing the window to slide outside of the door. Along with other door issues.... the job was a complete MESS. I refused to take my car back for repairs. I took my car back to the dealership where I purchased the car. The in-house collision department could not believe the job that was passed off as acceptable work. Being involved in an accident is already stressful and time consuming, especially when it is not your fault. You want to have good faith that the auto body shop will take care of everything for you. This experience was absolutely horrifying and I would hate for anyone else to be this places "experiment", with allowing amateurs or newbies take on a major repair. I also wanted to add in, the shop manager and insurance rep assured me that new doors were used on my car, later to find out from the dealer that the doors were used. The even showed me a bunch of dings that were covered up under the door panels. read more

I had my car fixed by the Mountain View Body Shop and it was a horrible experience as a whole. My car was estimated to be fixed within 3 days for a front bumper hit and run. My left side of the front bumper on the driver's side had damage to the 3 pieces that make up the front bumper. Many hinges and clips were broken, and there was a huge amount of paint scraped off. When I talked about the estimate with the young asian fellow, who manages the estimates, he told me my estimate was so high because they do not half a** their work. My car was estimated to take 3 days of work. The body shop claimed to have ordered now parts for my bumper. A whole week and a half later when my car was returned to me the left bottom of one of the bumpers was still scraped. The young asian manager claimed it was not part of the repair in the "estimate" however, after looking at the papers he realized he was wrong. The shop took my car back in and said it would be ready later that day. I did not receive my car back until the following day. My car seemed to be fixed after a quick inspection and I drove off mildly satisfied. Upon looking at my car later that day I realized that the shop did not replace the bottom of the bumper which still has broken clips. It is not fastened properly and I am worried that it will fall off easier than expected. The Body Shop simply set it in place and let the bottom bumper rest with little clips that were not broken. The body shop managed to make it look pretty enough to hide the damages. It seems all the body shop managed to do was sand down the scratched areas and repaint the bumper to make it look better. They charged me and my insurance $1,200 for a half asses work they claimed would not happen. Upon further inspecting my vehicle I also found 2 new scratches that were made, in the back right passenger side of the car, while my vehicle was in their possession. Response to Andrew: Yes my car had standard curb damage of scrapes under my car as most cars have due to entering and leaving drive ways; However, as you can see with the new attached image that this is what my car looked like after being hit. You can see the black scrapes on the bottom side of the bumper which was left as it was hit. The bottom bumper also suffered so much pressure that the clips broke (damage that no standard curb leaves on a car). You can compare the bottom right and left scrapes and can clearly see paint marks left on the bottom front left side where the hit occurred. I also told and showed this damage to the young hispanic man at the front dest who took in my car and took pictures for the estimate. When you returned my car with the bottom still scraped (do to regular curb damage) I went inside to ask you personally if the hinges had been replaces, to which you replied by saying, " We made sure to install new clips to properly secure the bumper". This was right after your prideful speech about not half a**ing your work. A proper estimate would have incorporated the proper replacement of the bottom piece of the bumper. You never showed me the estimate you only showed it to Geico and did not show it to me until after you first returned my "finished car". This is a nice tactic as you managed to give me an incomplete car as well as keep Geico happy by making sure the estimate was just enough for me to incur most of the cost for repair, which ultimately encourages Geico to refer more of it's customers to you. Its a win-win for you and Geico, and a loss for me as I received my car back in a sub-par condition. read more

What made me pick them immediately to do my work was Andrew, the owner. He let me know that they could schedule the work in a few days (compared to other shops which said I had to wait weeks to even start). My interactions with Andrew and Carlos were professional and courteous, and they both explained to me in depth what was the current state of the vehicle, what work needed to be done, and also went the extra mile to provide me the out of pocket price differential if I wanted to use OEM parts for the repair. Working with Mountain View Body Shop was super easy: vehicle was towed to their shop, I dropped in to sign some papers, was called when vehicle was ready after 2.5 weeks, signed some final papers, and took the vehicle back home. Behind the scenes, Andrew and team worked with my insurance to coordinate the repairs and supplements for additional damage that was discovered after the mechanic took the vehicle apart. They took care of all the communication with Geico. When I picked up the vehicle, it had been meticulously detailed and cleaned. They said they'd call me back but they didn't. hella flaky vibes. said things would be ready but they weren't and kept pushing deadlines back. money wise was much more than they said would be. when i finally picked it up it wasn't a bad job but not perfectly fixed. five months later i'm still waiting for a part they promised me and i already paid for, thus this review. their on hold music is the worst i've ever heard and will drive you crazy after two minutes of listening. read more

In November my car was vandalized and I went through insurance, Decided to go with my Local Bodyshop, Upon arrival I went in and the Staff was pretty kicked back and friendly, after checking in we went out to check out the damage on my car and they went over the process with me, afterwards I left my car there for about a month (ish) didn't mind as I had a second vehicle, I got the call that my vehicle was ready and went to pick it up, by just looking at my car i was amazed at how back to normal it was if not better looking after the damage, **I Did not upload all the damages on here** but after everything was said and done i went to get in my vehicle and noticed a small hiccup, nothing major or crazy but just a scuff on the inside of my Door panel, I went back in and shown them the damage, they took a picture of it and told me they will talk to their manager and I will be contacted by him On Monday *I Picked up my car on Saturday*, and that his name was Andrew, after i heard this is got a little nervous hoping i wasn't going to be in those situations of a "Wasn't us sorry, have a good day", but no, Monday I got a call From Andrew apologizing about the scuff and asked me when I can bring my car back to get it fixed Asap, I really appreciated the Care and Honest Customer service, Took my car in later that week and about an additional week after the repair got it back and looks good!, My car is now back like as if it was never vandalized, I really appreciate Mountain View Body Shop and their staff for the Work and Customer service, If anything *Hopefully Not* happens again ill definitely be coming back to this bodyshop. read more

Ford Ranger repair. GEICO Claim. I went to pick up the truck after repair and the front bumper (main repair) was practically falling off. I pushed on it and it came loose. Had to argue with the manager to get someone to put more time into it! He said that the estimator did not do the estimate correctly. I guess that means they didn't quote enough time or parts to do the job right. Well, he agreed to have a guy do some work on the spot...this amounted to me waiting for an hour. The bumper looked OK (but not perfect) at that point. Fast forward 30 days with normal driving, the bumper slowly started to move out of place until it looked bad again. I didn't feel like wasting my time arguing with them again. I've been to many (professional) body shops. This is NOT one of them. Stay away and try someone else. This was a Geico insurance repair. Everything went smoothly. I arrived for the initial estimate which did not take long. Left the vehicle there for repairs. They told me it may take a couple of weeks to get it done but it got done much faster than that. I think it only took 4 days. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I noticed a small scratch on one of the tail lights. It may have been there before I brought the car in but they took care of it nevertheless while I waited. They even gave me some matching paint for the car in case I needed it for future. They also have an automatic notification process which keeps you updated on the progress. I took my car there after an accident as they were recommend by my insurance. They didn't do the full repair and missed to diagnose issue with the steering. When I called them to report issue with my car steering, they refused to take a look at the car and told me to find a mechanic to do the diagnostic. Person on phone wasn't friendly at all. So, I had to take my car to dealership and they did find critical issue with my car steering. I was out my car for 2 months. I don't recommend to take your car there for repair. read more

Quality of work seems very good, and the car came back very nicely washed. Initial estimate was performed quickly and they coordinated directly with Geico. Reasons for the loss of 1 star in the rating were the delay in the completion of the work vs. original estimate (personnel departure) and the fact that the delays were not reflected in the estimated date in the online portal and not clearly communicated via the automated text message (other than repeating the same status update daily), thus requiring several calls to confirm each time the date slipped. Since it was the other party's insurance that was paying for the rental, it wasn't an issue for me - but if this had been out of pocket, the delays would have had financial implications for me. Again, the repairs were done very well, so bottom line would recommend their work. read more

And not wanting to be ripped off, I decided to get 3 estimates. Being a busy individual, I scheduled each of them for lunch breaks during the week, knowing (praying) I would have enough time to get lunch afterwards. The first estimate was no problem. I got the quote, got some pho, and I got back to work. The second estimate was a close shave. But the carefully shaven lamb made it into my gyro just in the nick of time. Now, the third quote was at Mountain View Body Shop. I had set up an appointment and came in right on time. The place was busy, so I waited a little while until somebody appeared and asked me what I was there for. I told them I was there for a quote and I was then told that they didn't have time for me. I calmly explained that I had an appointment with Omar. I was told I would have to wait 20 minutes. 20 minutes is not an eternity but it was quite a long wait given that I had made an appointment specifically to avoid waiting, and too long for me to wait given that I had already burned most of my break getting there and waiting. I understand that the shop was busy but they really should have let me know ahead of time if the appointment was delayed. Empty handed, I returned to work So what did I have for lunch today? Korean barbecue? Hawaiian Poke? Surely at least a bánh mì?! The shameful answer is nothing. Absolutely nothing! I brought my car in on a Monday. They took a picture of my car and told me they would send me an estimate by email. Then they told me to take my car home and said they could start working on it next Monday. The next day, I brought my car to Maaco in Sunnyvale and received much better service. - Mountain View Body Shop based their estimate on a couple of pictures, and didn't take a photo of the underside of the car. The Maaco person spent an hour creating the estimate with me in person and actually looked at the car, including the damaged underside. In the end, Maaco's estimate was about $200 cheaper than Mountain View Body Shop's, even though Maaco accounted for the damaged underside and Mountain View Body Shop didn't. - Maaco let me park my car at the body shop while I was waiting for the car to be serviced, which was important to me because my car was in no condition to be driven. - I brought my car to Maaco on Tuesday and they finished the car on Wednesday. By contrast, Mountain View Body Shop wasn't even going to start working on my car until next Monday. Clearly Maaco is a lot better and the only reason Mountain View Body Shop can stay in business is through referrals from the insurance company Geico. read more

I checked with other auto shops around me and found Mountain View Body Shop. They charged me a fraction of the price (bc they got an off market part) and if only took them 20-30 minutes to install!
