Terrible! Stopped in for dinner while I was on the road last night. Two waitresses on duty, only three tables with customers (besides me). In fifteen minutes of waiting, I did not get a menu, a glass of water, or even an acknowledgement that I was there. The two waitresses were simply hanging out at the cash register, chatting. I walked out, proceeded over the pass, and had dinner at the 59er Diner near Leavenworth, where I got great food, fast and friendly service, and left a BIG tip. read more

We just moved to the area and due to delivery mix ups we didn't have a fridge for over 3 weeks (frustrating to say the least!) So we have frequented Mountain View Diner quite a bit lately and I really like it. Pretty much have tried everything on the menu and have enjoyed it all. Also the desserts are fantastic! Always wanted to try this place boy what a disappointment . Stopped before heading up to Leavenworth on a Friday evening. Was told by the waitress soup of the day was homemade clam chowder. It was the worst I've ever had not even edible. I had chicken fried chicken and the gravy was almost congealed apparently from sitting too long under a not hot heat lamp. My girlfriends vegetables we're drowning in a bowl of melted butter. When we asked for a free meal were told no and then asked for a discount off just one and told no. The waitress and perhaps owner told us her cash register could not do this! What she did offer us was a homemade dessert to go. Later that evening when we ate it was delicious but I guarantee you it wasn't homemade from that place. We guess that it came from down the road from the Sultan bakery! read more

This scene unfolded like something out of a horror movie. Firstly no one was around to greet us so we waited, only to be frighteningly told it would be 30-40 minute wait. The owner of the cabin rental we stayed at recommended lunch at the Mountain View Diner on our drive up. We got there around 12:30 pm on a Sunday and the place as packed. We decided to take our lunch to go instead. The server took about 25 minutes to get our order, but did apologized for the wait. The Snohomish County Club (on toasted white or wheat) and Philly Dip came with choice of soup, salad, coleslaw, fries or potato salad. Both were good. We also ordered their Zucchini Sticks which were very good - lightly battered, seasoned and deep fried. Not a bad stop on your way up or down US-2, but the place is always busy with locals so be prepared to wait. read more

This is another place dear to my bf's heart. It's all about the big chief here, "for those that just don't care about cholesterol." I don't think it's the most amazing breakfast ever, but to him it is and he will drive an hour to get it. I've tried their breakfast sausage and it's pretty tasty. Stopped in for lunch after skiing. Place very clean, staff was friendly and our lunch was tasty. Kids menu had lots of great choices, slightly disappointed with daughters single chicken strip for lunch but nothing to take away from an overall positive experience. Make special 50 mile trip to eat here. No problems in the past until 2 months ago. Both times, dark haired female employee greets us, shows us to table & nothing. No drinks, no menu, no service. Too busy talking to relatives having lunch or to other employees. Seats other customers after us & gets their order. Us, nothing. Place wasn't busy either. Last time (Wednesday) again not busy but same dark hair female employee "working". Too busy talking to visitors to seat new customers. Finally says "seat yourself" but doesn't come asking about drinks for 10 minutes. Takes the order but no followup service. No asking how things are, no refills, no check, nothing. Again too busy talking to other staff to bother with her job. We finally went to counter to pay our bill & had to wait 10 minutes listening to her talking in the kitchen to other help. This used to be a great place to eat but no longer when customer service is totally lacking. She needs to get a job elsewhere where the job is actually talking to people, not in a restaurant setting where she can't do the job. read more

Standard diner food, good not great. Friendly staff but slow service if busy. Had Philly dip, not bad - fries were mush. Coffee was like a watered down Denny's -horrible! Beer is as cheap as soda though, next time I'll be too drunk to complain about the fries. read more

Came here after a long day of hiking and heading back to our cabin. I just had the mozzarella stick appetizer for $7.50 which was really good. My friends had the BLT, Club sandwich, and the Big Bird sandwich. Everyone said their food was good, but I guess the Big Bird chicken filet was too thin, not enough meat. Service was good. It was a quaint little diner with a cute atmosphere and nice people. Prices weren't bad at all either. read more

It's rare that I would give a one star review, but, Yuck! Diner food is simple and should always be reliable, here it seems they have lost their way, probably following the frozen food trend. I had the vegetable hash. It was mushy and had no flavor--I don't think they even used salt and pepper, much less anything interesting. I could barely finish it without the help of ketchup and tabasco sauce. As reported, service is insanely slow, they even warn you on the specials board as you walk in. Staff was nice, as well as the regulars (shout out to the foxy, novel reading, beer with breakfast, big-hearted, town bartender!). Ambiance: none to speak of. read more

This was the worst service I have had. I wasted almost 40 minutes of my time, they were worried more about clearing tables than taking our order. It appeared as though only one waitress was allowed to take our order, 3 total working. I was here about 5 years ago, same type of experience. Management/owners should cross train employees. We left, still no order taken. I'm not sure if the experience occurred due to mismanagement, the fact that we are a part of a minority group, or lack of skills. Stopped in for dinner. I ordered the meatloaf dinner and everyone else had the burger. My plate was a disgusting glob of black thick gooey gravy covering mystery meat and mashed potatoes. One bite was all I could stomach. The meatloaf was round and pale with zero texture of meat. We didn't see our waitress for over ten minutes since it was near closing time (9pm). When we finally got her attention and told her the meatloaf was unedible she started her defense. It was crazy. First she said that it's fine and no one has ever complained about the meatloaf and she was eating it in the back. Then it got worse. She looked at the rest of our family and asked maybe someone else will eat it, or would you like a to-go box for it? I said no, It really has a terrible taste to it and we don't want it. She said the kitchen is closing and there is nothing else to serve you except a slice of pie in which I declined. We asked for the bill and to our surprise the meatloaf was included on our bill. I took the family to the car and my husband went to the counter to pay the bill. He questioned if she actually meant to include the meatloaf on our tab or maybe she made a mistake and forgot to take it off. My husband pointed out the my wife took one nibble and my son sampled it also and he too found it revolting. So the entire plate had too small nibbles taken from the meal. The waitress started in about how we had poked at the food and she can not just throw out meatloaf and not charge for it. She kept on about how it was a preference not liking the meatloaf and the taste was fine. She pointed out that she is eating it right now and pointed to a to-go box at the end of the counter. My husband very politely said she can charge us and he will pay but this is not anyway to treat a customer and the food really does not taste good and it was not a "preference" thing. My husband is not one who likes to make a fuss and was very polite, but the waitress was determined to argue and defend how no one has complained about the meatlof today. The end result she grudgingly took the meatloaf off the bill and for the first time ever my husband left no tip. But here's a tip to the owner.... when a customer is served a meal and takes one bite and absolutely hates it, don't suggest to have someone else at the table eat it or they take it to go and then insist it's fine and it was a preference thing. Why not say you are sorry and be done with it? This was not only the worst meal I have encountered in many years, but by far the worst service I have ever experienced. It's a shame, we like to support local businesses and we have rental property in the area and we have brochures, menus and information for our guests. We also have a website for our property with information and links to the local business. Unfortunately we will not be referring anyone to this restaurant. It's too bad since there are only a handful of places to eat in the immediate area of our cabin. We will definitely drive another 15 minutes to go to get a good meal in the future. read more

I have to say this place has yet to have let me down. No matter when I have gone in or what I have ordered. The waitresses are great, friendly and awesome. Other then a few times my coffee cup was empty for a bit, however they were busy when this has happened. Everything from their breakfasts to their dinners have been great. And some of those desserts that spin temptingly around and around in that case in the middle of the room while you are eatting and enjoying your meal. Everything is good. read more

Solid classic diner fare. Four people and we all agreed our food was delicious. I had the chicken spin salad and the dressing was yummy!!! We had very good service, would come back for that! We came over Stevens pass on a yucky, detoured snowy January night and showed up hungry with 10 minutes until closing time. Our waitress was as kind and sweet as if we were her first table of the night. I also overheard her giving (and then writing in detail) directions for the next table over. Great place. read more

We drive US 2 routinely to the Cascades on weekends. Until today, we had never found decent diner food beyond the bar and Mexican food along the highway. This genuine American diner has a huge menu, somewhat elevated prices, and exceptionally friendly service. read more

Seriously? I just called and put in a to go order, thankful to not have to make lunch today. When I got home with my food, there were no mushrooms on my MUSHROOM swiss burger. So, I called to inform them and see what could be done. After thinking the waitress had put me on hold, I realized she hung up on me. By this point I have also realized that my fries were cold and stale. I called back. Another woman answered the phone, and again I told her my issue (no mushrooms, now the fries, I live a minute away, literally) to which she replied "well what am I supposed to do about it?" Shocked and appalled, I asked to speak to the owner, only to find out she was in fact the owner. Bottom line? I paid $19.00 for a club sand w/ fries and a mushroom swiss burger, with no mushrooms.....? did she offer money back, or a comp. meal? you bet your sweet butt she did not. I am astounded. read more

It's a pretty decent diner and very reasonably priced one. We stopped here for lunch with the kids on a Sunday afternoon. There isn't a huge selection but we all found something to eat, the food was very tasty and the costs for the four of us was $36. The main drawbacks are limited menu options and fairly slow service. When I told her I hope the dog would eat the chicken fried steak she was absolutely oblivious. We try to support local businesses but I have had too many bad meals here! I have been to this place maybe 3 times in the hole time they have been open. The breakfast is ok nothing to right home about. but the one time I stopped in to have a dinner, it was very disappointing. We ordered beer and my kid ordered pop. That was all fine then we ordered our dinner. I had the frayed chicken, wife had the chicken breast with gravy, and my daughter had chicken strips with fries. our dinners were to come with a salad. Dinner came and we did not get our salads. so I asked the waitress abought it and se said "oh did I forget them?" Then she asked if we still wanted them. My chicken was soooo over cooked it was so hard I could barly bite into it. The salad was just head lettuce and dressing. my wife just picked at her food and said it was not good at all. Must say our dog was happy with her left overs. My daughter eat her fries and only 1/2 a chicken strip. and said she did not anymore. You gotta remember where you are when eating at the Mountain View Diner. This is GOLD BAR, nothing fancy, no famous chef, just a small locally owned business trying to eek by in a tiny town. The service I've had has always been good. The desserts and soup are outstanding and completely homemade. I also like breakfast here. Otherwise, it could be considered mediocre depending on what you get, lunch is definitely a better deal for the money (burgers, club sandwich, chicken sandwich), I'm not too fond of dinner here. I give it 4 stars because it is better than going to the bar or getting fast food, and I don't think it's deserving of the 1 and 2 star ratings I see here:) read more
