Great emergency vet! I have been to A LOT of vets. Pretty much every vet in the valley as I own a busy dog training and boarding facility. And of course most things that happen, happen when our regular vet is closed. Many of the negative reviews complain about the wait time but for an emergency vet I thought these guys were really fast! I only had to wait an hour! Most other emergency vets you are looking at 2 hours minimum. I've even had to wait 6 hours at a pet er before. The staff and doctors at Mountain West were super helpful and friendly. Everything went really streamlined and having dealt with a lot of dog health issues and injuries through my 15 year career with dogs I can assure you this is a really great place to take your dog for an emergency! read more

I gave them a call and was advised to bring my dog in after she had 24hrs of vomiting. The staff were very kind, helpful and understanding, especially Dr. Sarah Bahan who was absolutely wonderful and a delight to talk to. The clinic was very busy so I dropped off my dog for several hours, I felt confident that they know what they're doing and appropriately prioritized my dog based on her level of sickness. Pricing was very reasonable for an emergency visit, radiographs and a recheck. Hopefully I won't be back soon, but I will not hesitate to bring any of my dogs in if there is an emergency. read more

My dog had a level 6 heart murmur she was only 6 months old i took my dog to get looked at because she was not breathing well and her gums were pale and so when the lady came out to grab the dog from me they did not pick up my dog they just let her walk inside knowing that my dog was weak and wasn't breathing well and so and hour passed and I was told I had to put her down and so I went in and sat in a room for about 30 minutes before they brought my dog in so i can see her before they had to put her down and so right when they got in the room they had to put her down immediately they sent me an invoice with everything they did to her and at the very bottom of the page they have a photo of my dog locked in a kennel she looked very scared don't go here at all I don't recommend. read more

this is a very amazing hospital! My poor puppy got hit buy my son on his dirtbike. they said it was the worst spinal injury they had ever seen. They said there was a 50-50 chance that she would walk again. She is now standing and walking a little bit and we're only a month out. Your st is awesome and they check up and give you all the information that you need ! read more

Got here at 9:45 pm waiting for an hour to see someone to test my dog in my car. Once they ran the test we had to wait another 10 minutes for the results. After the results came the said they would have to vet look at him, it is now 1 and half hours later and they still haven't called to update me so I called back in because o was not allowed to go in with my dog and apparently the vet has not looked at my dog at all. Once I said I wanted my dog back and the bill for the test because I wanted to go elsewhere I was told it wouldn't matter because everywhere is too busy so I should just wait. This place is horrible they make you wait in the car for hours and give you no timeframe or updates on what's going on. Only after your money. Do not go here read more

They were great for my dog- saved his life. The vet we worked with was AWESOME! The 3 star rating is because of their front desk service. I think I could play the damn hold music all the way through on a kazoo since I now have it memorized with the amount of hours I've sat on hold waiting to speak to a human. I could drive to the Pacific Ocean and back with the amount of gas I have burned waiting in the parking lot with my car running so I don't boil myself to death. I called on a Wednesday to get a refill on meds. Their recording states they will call back in 24 hours. Well, SUNDAY rolls around- still no call back. No text. No email. No smoke signal. Nada, nothing, zilch. I leave ANOTHER message Sunday. It's now Monday and no return call. I am now out of meds for my dog. So, I called the line for those who have animals hospitalized with them currently. I told them I'm in the parking lot just to pick up something up. She put me on hold. As we speak, I'm now 40 minutes on hold and they don't even know the reason for my call yet. I get they are understaffed but there has to be a better way to get to customers than what the current protocol is. read more

This place was amazing when I brought my Frenchie in for seizures. Not sure if it was good timing but we were taken back immediately and he was seen right away. At previous ER vets we've waited upwards of 4 hours to be seen. Initially, I was skeptical with only a few reviews online, but they seem to be a new facility. I was genuinely so impressed with the staff and the rooms were very clean. The veterinarian was wonderful and very thorough with my dog's plan of care. We scheduled an appointment here and it was the worst experience ever! When we arrived on time we were informed the doctor wasn't there and wouldn't be in for 30 minutes. Over three hours later we were told there was a "low" option of over $300 for several medications and injections another vet told us was completely unnecessary. Our pets problem wasn't even fixed here either. It was fixed by our local vet at a normal appointment. Don't visit here unless you want to throw away money! read more

I was very impressed with the doctors and staff at Mountain West. My little girl was very sick over the past month and required four hospitalizations during that time. The techs and doctors were so kind and compassionate. I feel like they really cared about me and my little girl. When I ultimately lost my little girl to heart failure, I felt like I was among friends that also truly cared about my little Jasmine. I would not take you pet to this place! I brought my dog Frank in because he could not pee. They totally refused to help him until we payed them $2000.00. This is a lot of money for us, but we found it... I really think they would have let him die. (I asked if we could make payments or give them half the money, the girl said "no" I told her he was going to die if they didn't help him, she said "there are hard decisions to be made".) Frank was there over the weekend. On Sunday, the the ER Doctor told us he needed to be there for 3 more days, and we where told that they could do a PU surgery for another $3600.00. They called us Monday afternoon saying Frank was peeing on his own and ready to come home. We were very surprised and happy, sense we thought he would have to be there until Thursday. when we got Frank home he was not able to pee on his own! I called them as soon as I saw him straining and they said to take him to his normal vet. they really do not care about animals, they are just dollar signs to these people. There is another emergency vet in Sunset UT Called MEDVET. I would go there if you want any kind of help with your pet. Mountain west did call us after I left this review, they wanted to do the PU surgery for $3600 plus another $2000 to admit him into the hospital until the surgery could be done. However, at MedVet we found he had cancer on his prostate that was pinching off the urethra. At that point his only options were a stint and chemotherapy. My husband and I made the very painful decision to put him to sleep. The staff at MedVet are supper kind and supportive. again, if you want real help go to Medvet. Wouldn't take my dog here unless it was an absolute emergency. In fact to be honest I would probably go to the other ER. This place is a joke. Took my dads dog here for what ended up being pancreatitis. These people had no idea. They did X-ray and ultrasound kept the dog over night. Came home worse than what was before we even took her there. Spoke with a different vet and they called mountain west to get X-ray and ultrasound forwarded and to everyone's surprise there was no X-ray or ultrasound to forward. So that was money spent on services not even done. Thank god we took her to a reputable vet who was able to do things right and figured out what was going on and got her better otherwise she would have passed very painfully. But hey as long as they robbed my dads pockets I guess that is what matters to mountain west. Stay away from this establishment. read more

I had to put my dog down in june, and it could not have been a worse experience. Let me start by saying I've groomed for 3 years now, I understand that your job becomes the mundane, I understand that working with animals had its ups and downs. That being said, when an animal Is hurt, suffering, or DYING, its important to go about your job with nothing less than compassion. My dog went in around 11 at night, the girls came and got my dog from the car, hours later I recieved the news she was bleeding internally, the vet told me that surgery would only " maybe lengthen time with her" I went in to put her down, the gentleman briefed me on how they put down animals as if he was giving instructions on how a car works, emotionless and unattached. when I was ready to put her down the vet came in smiling, I dont remember what she was talking about because I was so devastated, I only remember her making a joke about dogs death and I remember thinking "wow this is really not the time to ever make jokes as my best friend of 8 years dies in my arms" and that's it. that's the experience I had. a vet cracking jokes as my dog, the first dog I ever loved, the dog I had since I was 16, lay in my arms about to leave my life. thank you for that. it's something I will never forget. they called the next day for payment, again as if they were asking for the payment on a car, not attached, no"I'm sorry for your loss", no emotions. I remember a friend of mine's cat passed away, her vet sent her a card and flowers afterward, I wish that had been my experience. If you have any other option, take it, do not go here, I wish I had drove all the way to salt lake city, I wish I had gone anywhere else. read more

We had to wait for a while because they were busy, but they took great care of her and eased our fears. They let us make the decisions concerning her care, after presenting us with the options.
