We're staying here at the resort for a week so, had to try the restaurants on site. We had high hopes for this place but were rather disappointed about the service & the food. We were going to get several appetizers to share, but the first one was so disappointing we decided to cut our losses. The chicken, Asa Buco, we ordered was extremely dry, and we had expressed concerns on it being too spicy for my mother, and our server failed to mention the accompanying coleslaw was spicy with slices of jalapeño pepper in it, Our waiter was also the host and disappeared for most of the time we were there and the other servers were just hanging out at the bar - I had to walk my glass to the bar to get a refill of Coca-Cola... I will say that the view of the mountain is fantastic but our experience here was disappointing, and we have no interest in returning anytime soon. read more

Mountainside Bar & Grill is located inside Mammoth Mountain Inn and is open for breakfast and dinner only. From what we were told, they coordinate hours with The Yodler across the street, which handles lunch service. We only came for dinner, mostly out of convenience since we were staying at the hotel. The first night, I ordered the bison osso bucco -- oh my god, it was really good. Tender, flavorful, and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Zero complaints. My husband ordered the salmon and was pretty disappointed; it tasted like it had been frozen far too long. The second night, I went with the short rib grilled cheese with tomato soup, and again -- delicious. Honestly, what's a better combo than grilled cheese and tomato soup? Now add short rib? Wow. Meanwhile, my husband got the burger, which was cold, dry, and flavorless. He couldn't finish it, although the fries were very good. So either I'm excellent at ordering... or he just had bad luck two nights in a row. Bottom line: don't go out of your way to eat here, but you can find something good on the menu. They have a full bar and lots of TVs, which is nice after a ski day. There are definitely better restaurants down the mountain in town, but if you don't feel like driving, this place will do just fine. read more

Came here during a four day snowboarding trip and ended up at Mountainside Bar & Grill more out of convenience than destiny. It is located right at Mammoth Mountain Inn, which makes it dangerously easy to wander in after a long day on the slopes when your legs are cooked and your standards are already slipping. The location is excellent and honestly does a lot of the work for this place. Being able to grab food without dealing with shuttles, parking, or changing out of mountain mode is a big win. The food itself was fine, but definitely not amazing for the price. Nothing was bad, nothing was memorable, and you are very aware that you are paying resort pricing for solidly okay plates. Service, however, was a bright spot. Shoutout to Mark upstairs who was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel warmer than the food alone would have. That kind of service matters when you are tired, hungry, and debating whether you should have just grabbed a protein bar and gone to bed. Overall, this is a convenient, reliable option when you are staying at the inn or wrapped in layers and unwilling to go elsewhere. Went for the Thanksgiving dinner. At around $100 per person you'd expect something better. If I could compare this experience I would've compared it to a lower rate Hometown Buffet. The service was friendly but rarely saw them. Not until we flagged them down that we needed water. We would've ordered drinks if they came before we finished our food. The food was over promised. Oysters were dry, the butter and lemon that was promised was non existent. The prime rib and turkey carving station was horrendous. Only saving grace were the shrimp and tuna. The sweets section was disappointing it was never replenished and everything that was promised was either finished up or never showed. The place is nicely decorated and has a lot of potential but the food for price I would've rather had Thanksgiving at any other restaurant or bar in mammoth. read more

You may lose your taste buds at high altitudes of 10,000 feet and I did not expect to find fine food on Mammoth Lake mountain summit, that's why I am pleasantly surprised. Nice treat for hikers and skaters!! Since I have embarked on the healthier-eating. I skipped all their traditional dishes, such as burgers and steak. We ordered the kale salad and the veggie pasta. I like the sturdy ceramic plates. We came in a large group, the kitchen was busy preparing our orders. They did not rush though; it took about 25 minutes to get our two dishes which showed that they took time to prepare the dishes. We loved the two dishes! The dining room had country/mountain themed decor which is a nice touch. read more

I'm giving this 2 stars because the view was good and our server was nice. I went with my partner and he got the burger and fries. I got the fig and blue cheese salad with chicken. My partner said his burger was the worst he ever but the fries were delicious. My salad was $18 plus another $12 for the added chicken. It was not worth the $30 price tag. read more

We stayed at Mammoth Inn and this restaurant located inside was great! Our first night we had a delicious chicken entree. Our server Maxwell was so friendly and professional! We met another employee named Jack that night as well and he kept us coming back every night! Jack was friendly, upbeat, welcoming and funny- an absolutely fantastic server who really made our trip memorable. Thank you Jack! Chris the supervisor was a pleasure to speak with as well. besides the 10 star view of the mountain, the friendliness and deep cocktail knowledge of Alex is unsurpassed. I literally witnessed him conjure Taijin from the atmosphere when he was out. The view is beautiful and the staff is friendly. But I mean, c'mon. Just finished my third and final meal at this place. I will go hungry before I eat here again before we leave in two days. First meal was their BLT. It was a tiny thing with BBQ sauce on it. Worst I've ever had. My second meal was their smashed fingerling potato appetizer last night. I thought "they couldn't screw up smashed potatoes." But they did. Even when they gave me a proper portion they were just small baked potatoes. See photo for proof. My third meal, just now, was a flat beer and an order of nachos. I didn't want their meat so just ordered regular nachos with extra cheese. I was able to force myself to eat 50% of them but it wasn't even cheese. It was this weird orange product that didn't harden. So three strikes. I've genuinely never had food this bad from a restaurant in my entire life. Whoever is running this thing should be replaced. Not trying to overreact but it was that bad. Went in to grab a bite to eat after being on the mountain all day. Sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by Alex the bartender who promptly got me a nice cold beer and provided me with a menu. I ordered the flat iron steak with mash potatoes. I ordered my steak rare and this is one of the few places I have been to in my life that has cooked it correctly! The steak was delicious and flavorful, the mash was the perfect consistency and left me wanting another helping! Last Year - was pretty good, 4 stars. Food was tasty and hit the spot after the slopes. We came here and had dinner every night. This year - food was cold, orders were missing, and many, what did I just eat moments. I had to feel the ingredient on my plate to figure out it was steak pieces. So much potential, I'm assuming it's a different chef every year. On the plus side, they are flexible and will make something not on the menu. came here for lunch and dinner.. wasn't too hungry so we split the burger 3-ways. messy, yes! overall burger was good. fries were amazingly good.. the loaded nachos was ok, enough for 4-5 people.. though the server was a bit low-key rude.. reason for 4 stars.. came back later for dinner and service was definitely a lot better. definitely a step up from lunch.. but still left a nasty taste in the mouth.. like when u have been rubbed the wrong way.. for dinner we had the new york streak, 2 elk chops, 2 chicken penne pasta.. bone in elk chop came out real good. not gamy to say the least. strong flavors.. overall superb!! for pasta was in for a surprise with mushroom sauce!! im not a huge fan, but this sauce was really good.. the sun-dried tomatoes definitely made it more flavorful.. new york steak was delicious as well.. sun-dried tomatoes chimichurri def made a huge difference over the regular chimichurri sauce.. don't get me the regular chimichurri sauce is good alone.. overall the experience was awesome.. if you're like us and have lodging near the restaurant or snowboarding or skiing near by, definitely a place to get out of the cold to warm food. we were lodging near by and didn't feel like driving out so we opted for whats close by.. definitely worth trying out read more

Late post but well deserved: My husband and I stay at the hotel for a few nights and ended up eating here both nights! The service was great both nights. The ahi tuna, sirloin and half chicken (very juicy ) were just what we needed after a long day on the trail! Second night we enjoyed the tuna again!, beet salad (OMG so amazing), flat iron and the Caramel Leche dessert. I don't remember dessert name, but it was to die for. I'm staying in the Mammoth Mountain Inn and was considering eating at the restaurant here and got completely confused by the Yelp reviews. Seemed like half the reviewers thought they had the best meal of their life and the other half waited half an hour to be served rotten prosciutto. I decided to go for it based mostly on the convenience. Yep, sitting at the bar, the view of the mountains is truly stunning. That's really what you are paying for here. Well, and the convenience. The staff was nice. I got the elk which was pretty good. I'd give it a B. Not amazing, but good. And pricey. I had a cocktail, the elk and a glass of wine. About $100. Everyone I talked to said all the restaurants in the area are in town, Old Mammoth. Well, I was glad to find out there was an option for me when I stayed at the Mammoth Mountain Inn and didn't feel like driving into town after a long day skiing. Starting this past week (mid-April 2021), the skiing is only done at the main lodge area, across the street, so staying here can be very convenient. They are now offering indoor dining. The tables are currently spaced well apart, and they even have a second section with more tables, which wasn't open when I visited on a Tuesday night. The service was great, the food good and they even comped the $25 corkage fee, as I had brought my own bottle of wine. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again, especially if the roads are icy! read more

Kate the bartender walked me through my options when Jameson hadn't made it up the mountain yet and provided me with a beautiful martini substitute. Staff was great, but the food was not good we had a Caesar salad that was drowning in dressing it was like soup, we had scallops they the sauce was interesting and the scallops has tar from the grill, the rib-eye was good but the sauce was to much and the vegetables taste frozen the chicken was the a lot better, to top it we had bread pudding wasn't very good so we had Two shots from the bar but they came back with different amounts of alcohol one had maybe 1oz of alcohol and the other had maybe 2.5oz other then that it has a great view from the dining area.
