Great location, tasty gourmet grilled cheese options and soup, quick serve, friendly service, outdoor seating with 2 warming huts and a bar and music. The grill cheese is huge and yummy. Check them out if you need to make a pit stop there. 360 degrees view with snowy mountains. Restrooms on the same deck, very convenient . Head to beat for a rest and fill-up while enjoying your ski day in the back mountain.

Taking the backtrail tour from the top to Chair 14 is not only worth it for the slope but also for the lunch at the Melt House. Combining the restroom stop with rehydration and reenergizing with a classical melted cheese sandwich and a tomato bisque while listening to some music in plain sun and snow is just unbeatable - until the mountain calls again ...

My recommendation is to get the grilled cheese sandwiches. Any one is good, and they are huge. Or, you can get a combo with soup or chili for an extra $6. The soup, by itself, isn't worth it. But the chili could be a meal. There is also Boundry Bar at the same site that has a lot of decent beers. They only had a milk stout on tap when I was there (which was fine by me), but they have quite a few canned beers and were going to increase their taps on the weekend. Probably the most interesting and reasonable of the on mountain eateries. Still, it can easily set you back $20 for soup and sandwich. I recommend.

Man... this place rules. It's the only place we eat on the mountain because of the value and the insane deliciousness. I've had a lot of grilled cheese sandos in my day and they do not skimp or cut any corners. they're incredible. I get the pepperjack with chicken and it rules. Seen here with a side of broccoli cheddar soup which is also delicious.

Fun spot for a break!

We hardly saw our server. She came once to take our order, someone else brought our drinks and food, then that was it. All other tables, including next to us, had their servers checked in on them. Ours disappeared. There were only 8 other tables filled up. After finishing our food and drinks, another server came up to us to ask if we needed anything else. This took another 10-15 minutes for the check to arrive...from our original server. The bill came out to $99.44. We left a $15 tip. We probably should have just left the tip blank due to the poor service and not knowing the trouble this would cause. A few days later, a $1,599.44 bill posted to my credit card. Yes, over a thousand dollars charged for a $100 meal. They took the $15 tip as a $1500 tip. I don't even know how someone could make that mistake since we only wrote $15 in the tip line. The service certainly does not deserve a $1000 tip. I still have the original receipt and we only signed for $114.44 marked in the total. How that was changed to $1,599.44 is just bonkers and just plain robbery. Now I have to dispute this with Chase. So save those receipts, and watch out for this business.

There's currently a lighting hold on the mountains so instead of waiting in the active snow, it's nice and warm inside. ---- We ordered: Mammoth Mocha $14: - Very strong alcohol - brandy, baileys with Ghirardelli hot chocolate, La Colombe coffee, whipped cream Praline Coffee $14: - nice butterscotch aroma - baileys, frangelico, butterscotch schnapps, la Colombe coffee ---- Notes: - lots of seating (inside and outside) - a little bit dim lighting wise at the bar area, more bright at the dining area - bathrooms located upstairs and downstairs - sometimes a local band plays outside ---- Overall: a pretty cool place for drinks to warm up your belly before heading back out on the slopes, strong drinks and nice atmosphere to rest

In addition to a lime, lemon, celery, and a peppercini this bloody also includes two pimiento cheese balls and a mini donut, thus making it my favorite bloody ever. The purchase of this Bloody Mary starts your Mammoth Resort Bloody Mary tour where if you get a bloody at each bar on the mountain you get a free Yeti tumbler. This will definitely be the most expensive tumbler you'll ever buy, but it'll be worth it!

If you plan on eating, head inside and wait to be seated. Once you're seated you can order from the QR code on the menu or order from the counter and tell them your table number. The menu was super sticky and dirty and I don't like when I have to tip before receiving service which is the only option when you order from the QR code unless you want to leave cash at the end. The flatbread pizza was pretty bad. My kiddos only took a couple of bites. I tried it and the bread was pretty tough. The quinoa falafel bowl was just ok. The salad portion was refreshing but the falafels were super dry. The service was lacking, the person who delivered our food was not friendly and I kept getting overlooked at the counter when I tried to order drinks.

Like Taco Bell, you pay in advance. Unlike Taco Bell, you are expected to leave a tip (for service), before you realize you will receive no service. Choose your own seating, call up the QR code (which asks you to enter your phone number, but you can work around that) and then gives you a sterile list for a menu. It's a distillery, but do not talk to the bartender. Order a margarita from the (surprisingly inexpensive) Taco Tuesday menu and it comes with a hard, dried citrus something floating on top that adds nothing to the experience of the drink (but does eliminate the need for the bartender to keep a fresh supply of citrus on hand). Otherwise, the margarita tastes OK. Not great. Your beet salad will not be "dressed" because that would take effort. Instead the dressing will be drizzled across the top and not even really touch the greens. Your burger will probably be tasty, as my husband's was. Your sweet potato taco will probably have too many raw onions across the top but otherwise be tasty as mine was. You will not interact with anyone other than your table companions. Even with his tasty burger, my husband called it a "soulless experience." Because the food itself seems to be decently cooked (though with minimal effort), this may be your spot if you are good with Taco Bell.

We were going to get several appetizers to share, but the first one was so disappointing we decided to cut our losses. The chicken, Asa Buco, we ordered was extremely dry, and we had expressed concerns on it being too spicy for my mother, and our server failed to mention the accompanying coleslaw was spicy with slices of jalapeño pepper in it, Our waiter was also the host and disappeared for most of the time we were there and the other servers were just hanging out at the bar - I had to walk my glass to the bar to get a refill of Coca-Cola... I will say that the view of the mountain is fantastic but our experience here was disappointing, and we have no interest in returning anytime soon.

From what we were told, they coordinate hours with The Yodler across the street, which handles lunch service. We only came for dinner, mostly out of convenience since we were staying at the hotel. The first night, I ordered the bison osso bucco -- oh my god, it was really good. Tender, flavorful, and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Zero complaints. My husband ordered the salmon and was pretty disappointed; it tasted like it had been frozen far too long. The second night, I went with the short rib grilled cheese with tomato soup, and again -- delicious. Honestly, what's a better combo than grilled cheese and tomato soup? Now add short rib? Wow. Meanwhile, my husband got the burger, which was cold, dry, and flavorless. He couldn't finish it, although the fries were very good. So either I'm excellent at ordering... or he just had bad luck two nights in a row. Bottom line: don't go out of your way to eat here, but you can find something good on the menu. They have a full bar and lots of TVs, which is nice after a ski day. There are definitely better restaurants down the mountain in town, but if you don't feel like driving, this place will do just fine.
