TL;DR YOU MAY GET OVERCHARGED. Food is great. We ordered the pretzel and sausage platter. Amazing food after a hike. This poor review is for the service and being overcharged. We hardly saw our server. She came once to take our order, someone else brought our drinks and food, then that was it. All other tables, including next to us, had their servers checked in on them. Ours disappeared. There were only 8 other tables filled up. After finishing our food and drinks, another server came up to us to ask if we needed anything else. This took another 10-15 minutes for the check to arrive...from our original server. The bill came out to $99.44. We left a $15 tip. We probably should have just left the tip blank due to the poor service and not knowing the trouble this would cause. A few days later, a $1,599.44 bill posted to my credit card. Yes, over a thousand dollars charged for a $100 meal. They took the $15 tip as a $1500 tip. I don't even know how someone could make that mistake since we only wrote $15 in the tip line. The service certainly does not deserve a $1000 tip. I still have the original receipt and we only signed for $114.44 marked in the total. How that was changed to $1,599.44 is just bonkers and just plain robbery. Now I have to dispute this with Chase. So save those receipts, and watch out for this business. read more

When we were directed to our table, our chairs by the window had so many crumbs, but it was fine since we arrived near their closing time. This is one of two restaurants available at the Mammoth Mountain resort so we knew we'd end up here eventually. We tried the other restaurant the night before and were rather disappointed with the food and the service, but... we could not have been more happier with our experience here at The Yodeler!! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the interior has a lovely mountain Alps design with many food items to match. We both enjoyed our meals very much and wished to the other restaurant would've measured up to this one. The service was fantastic. We stopped in after being stranded on the gondolas mid-station due to wind and decided to stop in for a drink. Carolina (sorry for spelling) the Aussie bartender was so sweet and fun. The Yodler is perfectly located right next to Mammoth Mountain Inn and the gondola -- you can literally ski right up to the door. Because of that, we ended up coming here for lunch every single day we skied. They have a dog-friendly outdoor seating area (dogs aren't allowed inside), plus a great indoor space with a nice bar and plenty of tables. It was a little chilly for outdoor seating during our visit, but it's a great option in warmer weather. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was consistently excellent. I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup two days in a row -- it's that good -- and it comes with a warm pretzel roll (yum). The large pretzel appetizer is huge and perfect for sharing; it easily fed our group of four. We also tried the goulash, chili, elk sausage, and burger, and everything across the board was delicious. They also have fun drink options, including boozy hot chocolate and hot cider, plus a full bar with beer and wine. If you're looking for a relaxed, sit-down lunch while skiing, this place is a no-brainer. Hours are 11-5. Highly recommend. read more

That is all torn up right now so not much to do here. Usually post ski session you come down to the cafeteria and get chicken tenders, chili, a burger that gets cold and 0.25 seconds. Thank goodness for this restaurant and bar! That is the absolute last thing I wanted and they delivered everything but that. It can get pretty busy, so have some patience as everyone is trying to do their best. The staff was incredibly friendly. We came for lunch back to back days sat inside for one day and outside for the next. We were never disappointed with any service whatsoever. Incredible people truly. The food was phenomenal. We had the beef stroganoff, fries, The chicken strudel sandwich or something like that and the eggplant dish, which was blow my mind crazy. The biggest issue I have with The Yodler, is that the menu has one set of prices on it and then when you get the bill, the prices are higher than stated. We asked the bartender about it and was told that they've told management many times and that they (the bartenders) don't control the prices. We asked for the manager and were told no one was there. The $29 pretzel (on the menu) was actually $30 on the bill along with the $14 glass of wine which was $16 on the bill, etc. No way to give feedback or contact anyone on their website. Just be honest. I don't care about the prices; I won't do business with a company that tries to deceive! Not cool! The service was absolutely horrible. There were two bartenders working and only 1 other person at the bar and we could not get their attention. And when we did, they acted like we were putting them out. We've been going here off and on for 20+ years. Thought it was time to write a review. Took a day off skiing last Thursday and drove there for lunch. Connor is an amazing server, bartender and ambassador. His personality is so chill. I was choosing between to new-to-me beers. I asked him what he thought was good, and he said "It's what you think is good." He asked me what sort of beers I liked and he gave me a blind taste, "Number 1 and Number 2." Loved that! This way, I wouldn't be predisposed by brand name. Did that for both pints. Pretzel is always amazing! Golden crunch on outside and soft inside. The three dips are perfect. Grilled cheese and pulled pork sandwiches were stellar! While there, a group of MMSA workers were there, along with their friends. Definitely a locals choice, too. After having come down the mountain I got pretty hungry, it wasn't from hiking or anything it was just a while since my last meal. I didn't feel like making the drive back into town and find something so I resigned myself to the lodge food. I imagined that it would be slightly above airport/amusement park food, no matter how fancy/festive the outside was. Since the weather outside was so nice we sat out on their patio deck- which had plenty of space despite all the people out and about. I took this as a additional confirmation that the food wasn't that good; if all these people were out and the place wasn't packed with diners it couldn't have been good. I was still hungry though so I ended up getting their baked potato soup and their bratwurst, again thinking airport rules applied to portion size as well as food quality. I was way off on both, not only was the soup a good size, it was surprisingly hearty and filling. The bad news was that the bratwurst was also a big size which made it difficult for me to finish but slightly spicy wurst and their stone ground mustard was good. The worse news: I decided to upgrade my fries to their bacon cheese fries and again it was a mighty struggle to finish all that food but I managed to finish because it was again surprisingly good. read more

Got our orders wrong, charged us for something we didn't order (ironically the most expensive things on the menu) and didn't bring anything he said he would. Our waiter wasn't attentive even if we were one of the only ones there, and we had to manually ask the cook if the fries were GF because someone in our party is seriously allergic to gluten, and he rolled his eyes at us (they do have gluten by the way). Anyway, the food is ok, but a little expensive for what you're getting. Portions are small, and they went really scarce with sides. We were told on our first night at our hotel this place wasn't open either but we found out it was after we went to town to get a bite to eat at Mammoth Brewery.
