I can not believe the service we received! I have come to Mouses over the last 8 years. I am a local Colorado resident. My husband and I went to view a waterfall on a Tuesday, I had bragged about this place and wanted to treat my husband. When we entered we had been treated standoffish by a blonde haired gentleman. I tried to smile and talk friendly with him but when my husband (Hispanic) talked the gentlemen huffed and turned his head away, refusing to look at us. I again smiled and attempted to ask how his day was (assuming he was as just having a rough day) he responded short "fine" and turned his back to my husband. He would not speak, look or stand near him. Then the manager or owner came out (Taller caucasian man) and stood next to the worker and refused to engage in conversation with me. After all the years I have been visiting this store due to the disrespect and attitudes I will no longer support this business. read more

We've stayed in Ouray twice in 2 years!! Once in 2018 & once again in 2019!! What more can you say except 5 stars? Delicious chocolates, amazing beverages made to order, or custom milk shakes that are so creamy and flavorful, you'll want to go back for more!! We stopped by Mouse's multiple times, each time trying something new! The lemon bars will change your life, and the white truffle are divinity!! The chocolate malt is epic! And the coffee's (I had mine served cold) hit the spot and tasted great!! The mocha is a special treat! With mocha whip cream on top!! YUM!! Okay, I first have to say that my 5 star review is based purely on one drink that I had there. I had the Cider Latte (no coffee) and holy smokes! It was like drinking a warm caramel apple pie with whipped topping. I was not expecting to be transported to the season of crisp air, and fall leaves in one sip but there I was, giggling like a school-girl in my delight. My companions got other drinks with mixed reviews. I heard the hot chocolate was not anything to write home about, but another had a Lavendar dirty chai and said it was excellent. read more

Mouse is an essential fuel up stop on any trip through Ouray. Great coffee served with a smile. Of course if you like baked goods (cookies, muffins, etc.) or chocolate well then all the more reason to stop. Is it sad that I think the employees are starting to recognize me? For god's sake, this place is an hour and a half away over three mountain passes and STILL I manage to make it there often! I'm not complaining...well, maybe I should, because the last time I went they didn't have my salted chocolate caramels. Um, can you say :( x a billion? Okay, so they have much more than the salted caramels, and I was able to choke a few different ones down. E basically had to shove them down my throat, though. If there are no caramels, I make due with: Marzipan mice Chipotle truffle Blackberries and cream truffle Lemon truffle Eggnog truffle Gingerbread truffle Brewery truffle Chocolate-covered coffee toffee Scrap cookies Also, they have these big, different-sized hunks of chocolate shaped like mountains that they have covered in white chocolate and decorated with little frosting ice climbers, complete with ice axes and ropes. We stopped here after a day in the ice park and were pleasantly surprised. I got a chai with a scrap cookie (made from the candy "scraps", so no two cookies are alike). The cookie was so good that I made a trip back a couple days later. They also had these adorable chocolate ice climbers which were great gifts to bring home to family and friends. The service was great and it they are open late, which is not something you can expect in such a small town. I hope to return again soon! read more

Terrific handmade chocolates and drinks, held back (like many Ouray businesses) by bored inattentive counter service and neglect of the physical space. First off, the truffles are made on premise, in a space adjacent to the cafe with large windows separating so you can watch the kitchen action. Their kitchen set up is sweet, and the layout, materials and colors are great. Even the menu board rocks! We only sampled dark chocolates, but they were outstanding, smooth with just enough dark chocolate bitter. Nuts and fillings seemed high-quallity, and you pay for it. I know it's a business that uses lots of sugar and many of their customers are probably slobs, but they're not making much attempt to keep the flies out or to keep the surfaces clean. The whole place is sticky. Did I mention flies? My family and I really enjoy chocolates/desserts, and in a small town it's hard to put us off good chocolate. But the counter staff on all of our 3 visits would rather have been somewhere else; the floors, counters, tables and bathroom were all very dirty; and there was no soap or towels in the bathroom. Ouray is a tourist destination, so I would understand these conditions if the place had been rushed for several hours, but IT WAS RAINING the whole week and traffic was light at best. So, great chocolate, drinks and ice cream. Maybe some customer service training and cleanup? read more

The best cookie I have EVER consumed! They kind of mix a bunch of amazing goodies into one cookie. Mine had chocolate chips and I think Carmel. It was the biggest cookie I have eaten in my life. It was moist and tender, simply amazing. My fiancé and in laws got ice cream and said it was really good. The line was out the door when we went and now I see why. They offer a huge list of specialty coffees and shakes. I got a white chocolate iced coffee and it was really decadent. Not too sweet and they top it with espresso whipped cream which cuts any sweetness. The combination of their cookie and coffee is absolutely heavenly! Keep up the good work Mice! This is definitely a stop you'll have to make if you're in town. Their ice cream is delicious, their wide selection of truffles and other chocolate munchies are fantastic, and their coffee is great. You could eat inside or sit outside and get a view of the steep mountainous cliffs right in front of you. One recommendation is that you visit Mouse's after you are at the Hot Springs. If you go before the Hot Springs, you might not fit into your bathing suit! read more

For living on the other side of the state, I think my dozen visits to Mouse's in the last 2 years qualify for some sort of honorable mention. The Belgian Hot Chocolate (get the Dark) is deliciously good, especially with almond milk. As is their homemade apple cider. Their truffles and chocolates are yummy, although I personally feel they could add peanut butter cups to their offerings (especially if they use dark chocolate)! They also serve Dreyers ice cream. Free wi-fi to boot. However, our forays into this store are not complete if we do not buy SCRAP COOKIES. It's as described: all the leftover, delicious goodness used in making their chocolates and candies are mixed with cookie dough, which results in the most addicting cookie ever. Not one ever tastes quite the same as another. At $2.50 each, we've probably spent at least $70 on Scrap Cookies alone in our dozen visits. The cookies are sizeable, so the price isn't that shabby, but that means the number of calories is probably astronomical. Favorite food place in Ouray! read more

Very nice. This is a very cute shop on Main Street that offers coffee and sweets. I tried the highly recommended scrap cookie, which was delish. It was sweet and delicious - not too crispy, and not too soft and gooey. I also tried the Belgium fudge, which was excellent. The dark chocolate orange truffle was very good. I would definitely stop in again for chocolate and to try some coffee. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a great place to go. read more

I must get an americano with the espresso whipped cream at least once while I'm visiting Ouray and while I'm at it, one of the many in-house made chocolate delicacies. From turtles and truffles to fudge and baked goods I am always wide eyed and indecisive as I stand in front of that massive glass case of glory! Their coffee beans are of the highest quality and can (along with most everything else in the store besides my beloved whipped cream) be shipped to you! YUM - scrap cookie! The place was hopping. It's clearly a town favorite. We went because we had heard about it from a diner owner in Walsenburg, and we were not disappointed! Service was great - they happily shuffled through a long line of us and bid us a good day with our goodie bags. We got two scrap cookies, four truffles and two barks of sorts, and our total came to almost $14. I wasn't paying enough attention to know what the price breakdown was, but that seemed a little high! I don't think we've sampled everything yet, but we both thought the scrap cookies (big cookies with all the leftover scraps of truffle operations baked in) were scrumptious!
