This is a DON'T MISS stop for anyone coming through Ouray. Spectacular home-made chocolates. Not a store for a factory operation: you can watch them being made through windows in dining room area. Good coffees (and great espresso shakes!) make this a favorite spot for locals as well as tourists. You don't think a random cafe in the middle of Colorado would be noteworthy (especially coming from NYC), but man their coffee drinks and baked items were awesome (particularly recommend the Scrap Cookie). Felt like this spot was a bit overrated. Between us we tried a shake, the scrap cookie, and dark chocolate toffee. They lacked balance -- too overly sweet. And I have a major sweet tooth. Mocha shake was too icy and not creamy. read more

Lots of yummy treats - something for everyone. However, during my visit yesterday afternoon I found the the young staff incredibly rude. I asked a young blonde guy what was in one of the cookies and he responded "a bunch of stuff". I explained that my son had a cashew allergy and wondered if there cashews in the cookies. I love, love, love this place. They have dark, vegan chocolates and delicious teas. Yeahieeee! They were soooooo good: coconut, rice crispy, almond bark and a few more. Very vegan friendly. I haven't been by in a while but I enjoyed the coffee and chocolate truffles, so good! I deducted one star because I missed the table that is now part of the coffee roasting area ,it was my favorite spot to drink coffee and enjoy the view outside. I understand it's a busy holiday weekend so the staff should use their loud voice to call out customer's name. Because this didn't happen an item from my order sat there and melted. Then when asked to correct it the staff member became very rude. Businesses should maintain a standard customer service expectation at all times. When we visited yesterday there were different staff members and they were great. Maybe a retraining in manners during peak times is in order. Also was disappointed that I picked out a scrap cookie and then a fresh supply was put out immediate after. I could tell I had at least a day old cookie. The locals favor this place to the Ouray Candy Company for their superior chocolates and presentation. This places was busy on a Wednesday around 4pm, and we waited a few minutes in line to order our ice cream. They have your basic ice cream flavors and a lot of candy/chocolate options. I always liked their milkshake menu too, although it's quite expensive. Overall, noting blew me away here, not their service, not the quality of their products, nothing. I visited this place a year ago on a trip to Ouray. Amaaaazing. Really good truffles, covered pretzels and any other chocolate you can think of. Wow! What a great chocolate place! The scraps cookie was AMAZING! They take all the scraps from making their wonderful truffles and caramels and roll it all in with homemade cookie dough. SO GOOD! The hot chocolate was decent but nothing special. The peanut butter truffle and peanut cluster were good and had a little rustic feeling to how they made it. It seemed a bit heartier with the harder peanuts and meatier peanut butter. They don't try to be a high end European style chocolatier which is better for this town. Apparently they roast their own coffee in house and you could tell in that mocha truffle. Driving past this cute store during a snowy traveling day and had to check it out. The coffee was excellent -- Bavarian chocolate mocha with double shot of espresso with whipped cream. I was trying to purchase a pound of coffee from this business. I notice the particular coffee I wanted was almost empty in the display jar. When I went to ask for help, I was told i had to go to the end of the line. The lady would not even answer my question.
