I recently purchased a outdoor play structure for my toddler son and was searching for someone to put it together for me, tried task rabbit, Craigslist, and handyman on yelp but they either bid too high or too good to be true prices. Then Martin returned my quote and he told me he studied the installation manual I sent him for the play structure and told me he estimates it will take this much time to finish and what he would charge me. Martin and his company were fantastic! We managed to book an appointment a little over a week in advance to have him and one other person move our belongings from our apartment to our new townhouse. He was able to get us into his schedule and the move went very smoothly. He was very responsive when it came to booking an appointment and they were able to move our belongings without us lifting a finger! They disassembled our bed and had our boxes and large items (queen bed, dressers, couch, tv stand, tables, etc all safely put into their truck. They were also able to carry all our belongings carefully up quite a few staircases to our townhouse and managed to put all the boxes and items in their corresponding rooms. Martin was an above and beyond mover. I was not initially convinced on movers, having never used them before. Martin and his partner saved us a ton of time and effort, and he gave especially helpful advice too. I had trouble getting a U-Haul truck confirmed for our move on a budget. Martin helped look for a moving truck and advised me to check the Bayview U-Haul company that has more stock, which ultimately helped us get a truck reservation. On moving day, Martin and his partner spent 4 hours moving furniture and boxes from upstairs to our moving truck. He broke down beds and stored spare parts carefully. They wrapped furniture in pads and tied them up in the truck way better than we could ever have. All in all, they did a bravo job and I can't imagine the move without them! Wow, these guys are fantastic! After my previous move, which was a total disaster (hit car with uHaul, insurance wouldn't cover me + sore muscles + lost a cat for half a day), I swore I would never do it myself again...five years later I kept that promise and hired Martin, 2 strong guys and a 17' truck. As I was shaking his hand the two other guys breezed past me and started loading the truck like crazy. Reminded me of the circus-like crew from 80's film "The Money Pit", except they should up promptly at 9am as scheduled. By 11am, the entire garage and 90% of the house was loaded and masterfully Tetris'd into the truck. A short drive across town, quick unload, return trip for a few remaining items and I was completely moved in under 5 hours. At my new home they set things up in all the right locations, removing doors as needed to squeeze in large items. Meanwhile, my wife and kids had a nice day at the zoo. We needed to move our furniture and belongings into our bathrooms and garages as we were having our hardwood floors refinished. We also needed help disassembling old closet systems. Martin came with a friend and was able to get it all done in a very short time. He also brought our dining room table to SF where it was being refinished. He was thorough, patient and super careful wrapping our pieces too! 6 weeks later I brought him back out to move us back into our living spaces. Again he was so kind and careful helping to apply felt pads so we wouldn't scratch our wood floors. Next week I will be hiring him again to bring the table back to us from SF and then in a few months I will have him come out again to take out the remaining closet systems. Martin (pronounced "Marteen") is wonderful to work with. He's honest, flexible, and professional. He also has very reasonable rates compared to the 5-6 other companies I contacted. I hired him recently for a complicated move -- we had to move our items from our house to a storage facility, as well as a quick drop off of my favorite plant to my grandmother's house. Then, after a month, we needed him again to move our items from storage and also from my grandmother's house, into our new house. He remembered me when I called back a month later. He does a great job wrapping our furniture in blankets and plastic wrap. He's pretty meticulous and a bit of a workaholic -- I had to ask him if he was hungry, as it was already past 2:00 pm and he started our job at 9:00 am. He said he was ok and kept working! I do have to say that his first assistant on the first move was much more experienced. The 2nd set of assistants for our 2nd move were also very nice, but were in training mode. I hired Mover Man Moving Services after a friend of mine recommended them. It was a 1 Bedroom apartment move across town. They were a little late due to traffic, but otherwise, they did great work, packed and moved everything very carefully, disassembled and reassembled my bed frame, and were able to get everything done on budget and in one day! Two men showed up with a truck - they packed and loaded the first 4-6 hours, moved all of my apartment furniture and boxes, and unloaded in just a few hours. The packing process and loading too a bit longer only because they were intent on packing everything carefully and I didn't have a loading dock or anything they could use at the loading location. This was my first time hiring professional movers and definitely won't be the last! To be honest, I've always thought that renting a truck and getting a couple friends/family members to help with the labor was a more logical and cost-friendly route... but after my experience with this company, I see the value of hiring a professional. We saved so much time and didn't have to worry about purchasing any extra materials for moving, so in my eyes, that also translates into saved money. I don't plan on moving again anytime soon, but when I do - I know who I'll be calling for help. On the day of the move, they showed up right on time AND came equipped with all of the proper materials and equipment (dolly, shrink wrap, furniture cloth, packing tape, etc). They were very friendly and helped make two moves in a day (house swap). My recommendation would be to keep everything packed and ready so that it's just loading things into truck. They didn't have a big trolley so if you pack everything into boxes, it will be more efficient to stack multiple boxes on a dolley. read more

They helped me move at the end of May and seriously, they BUSTED THEIR BUTTS - I had lots of stuff for a 900sqft 2 bedroom, down 2 flights of stairs to get it on the truck and up 3 to get it into my new apartment. They wrapped up my couch, TV, and chair with plastic wrap and blankets to protect it. I stopped at In N Out to get food for me and my family who was also helping and picked up 2 animal style double cheeseburgers and fries for them too. Seeing how hard they were working all morning I said "guys come on take a break, sit and eat for a little bit" and they politely refused until they were completely done with the job. Do you know how hard it is to turn down In N Out even when you aren't sweating your balls off and super tired from going up and down what probably ended up to be hundreds of flights of stairs carrying heavy furniture? Sainthood, only word I can think of for it. THAT is how hard they work though, and how dedicated they are to what they do. Anybody can start something but finishing it and follow through is the tough part. Martin and his son are are punctual, work hard, protect your valuables, offer what I thought to be a great price, and basically made my moving experience as least stressful as it could've been. Martin runs a really good crew. That's the tldr summary here. A really really good crew, hard workers, good direction and oversight, dedicated effort; I didn't feel anxious at all. These guys are professional movers, they know how to wrap items and furniture (blankets, pads, and stretch wrap all together, so hermetically awesome), they went above and beyond my expectation, paid attention to specific directions (ie. please take this through the back door, don't drag that, no carts on hardwood floors), and really are as efficient as possible. These would seem like typical things, but I've had moving experiences where the team just ignores you. Not Martin. Martin and his team were on point! I never noticed any of his crew really taking a break or using their cell phones etc, it was strictly business all the time. They even beat me to the new residence location and didn't pad time in driving. Also, a note to readers -- sometimes it may appear that the movers are going slowly or taking their time. Relative to how quickly you move one box, sure, that may be the case. But please remember, these men do this kind of work every day, sometimes multiple moves per day. Sheesh! I was really impressed, as well as reassured, by the effort and capability that his crew exhibited. One mover looked like he was maybe newer to the role, but Martin was really impressive at managing and directing his team how to move and manuever objects in order to be absolutely careful. Since it was a local move we decided to do the clothes-in-the-car thing and take some of our dishes, but had I known the professionalism and precision of Martin and his team, I would've had Mover Man Moving Services do the entire move. Communication was great, actually did much of it texting and via the Yelp messaging platform and it was really seamless. I don't recall specifically his prices, but I recall that they were very reasonable and not the lowest, but definitely not the highest.
