Everything was amazing. The service was excellent - our server made so many recommendations for drinks and food - and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. I love the tapas dining experience almost anywhere, but Movida has taken it to the next level with pairings of items, sauces, drinks and atmosphere - it truly is an elevated dining experience. I can't wait to go back and see what's new. I would recommend this against any fine dining restaurant, but with a friendly, casual vibe to it - it's the best of all worlds. I love the old atmosphere downstairs where quirky things like baby yoda were around an old bar. This is sterile and feels like way too upscale for what I like. The food was still fantastic. The atmosphere was very intimate and charming. We sat at the bar and was served by a very attentive server, who had several recommendations. We ordered the sangria flight to share and I loved each of the flavors, the reed being my favorite. All had their own in our spin but all very delicious. We ordered the movida paella and garden paella to share between 4 of us which was more than enough as they were very large portions and a great bang for your buck. Both paella were delicious, however the movida paella was a little a little on the salty, likely because of the Spanish olives. Overall would order both again to share. BEST BRUNCH DEAL! I went to Movida for my birthday for brunch and they had a special happy birthday menu for me! The brunch deal is $25 for coffee service, choice of beverage, starter, main & dessert and for $7 extra dollars you can have bottomless mimosas and sangria! Um yes please! As a starter I got the biscuit and gravy, for the main I got the apple pie French toast, and the dessert is a churro which they put a candle in for me! Everything was so flavorful and delicious! We decided to grab a late dinner here on Friday night, we arrived at 8 and they close at 9. They waitress was very quick to get our drinks and orders. The menu offers appetizers, tapas, bowls and paella. We ordered an appetizer of ham croquets which were incredible. We got a couple of tapas and my favorite was the mushroom tosta, I never would have thought to pair mushrooms with a cream cheese like sauce but it worked fantastically! We also got a street noodles bowl which was the perfect level of spicy if you like a little kick. The bar is darker lit and there's faux taxidermy on the walls of dinosaurs and other animals. The patio area is beautiful but you most definitely should make a reservation if you'd like to sit out there. They're known for their sangria and the flight did not disappoint, there was something for everyone! read more

I recently enjoyed brunch in Movida's new expanded space, which was gorgeous! My friend and I went for their 'pink brunch' to celebrate her birthday, and it was the perfect place to celebrate! They played up the pink theme with pink decor, dinnerware, and even my sugar for my coffee was pink. On their menu, there's an awesome brunch deal where you can get a coffee, beverage, starter, main, and dessert all for $25. Plus you can upgrade to bottomless drinks for an additional $6! We were able to try many things off the menu by doing this, and all our food was great! They brought out a special birthday menu for my friend, as well as a candle in her dessert, which made the celebration even more fun. Was sitting at our table for 22 minutes before we were asked anything, I actually had to get up to ask the hostess if we can move tables because they put us at a forgotten table by the kitchen that several servers walked by but we never got approached by 1. All the tables were taken so we had to stay there. Once we ordered our server barely came to our table I think we saw him twice after we ordered and that included asking for the check. I have to admit - I am addicted to Movida! Proof - I dined there thrice in December alone, with three different sets of people. Fair warning - the outside of the place is not much to look at, especially at night. But that's the only negative I can associate with the place. Each time we have eaten there, the food has been amazing. Each dish has been delicious, presented well and the portions are decent for a tapas style dining experience. The drinks are delightful. The Sangrias are great, and the cocktails are decently priced and well made. The service is consistently attentive. The staff is knowledgeable, happy to guide you through food choices, how much to order etc. I have been here in groups ranging from 2 to 10, and with different food preferences. Not once have my guests been disappointed. Even the strict vegetarians in the group had plenty of dishes to pick from. Was super excited to try this place as I've heard nothing but great things. To be upfront: the food and drinks were fantastic and very unique and the timing of the food runners was impeccable. The service on the other hand quickly went from forgettable to egregious. Dishes we ordered did not come out (least of our worries), but then we were forgotten about for ~25 minutes as a larger party entered. It got to the point where we had to bother the hostess to see if she could bring us our receipt so we could go home. For a place of this caliber (and coming from a former server), it was a blessing that 20% gratuity was included. Had a 1:30pm Mother's Day reservation for 2. At 1:55pm still did not have a table and the excuses as to why got more poor than the next. If you need to celebrate a special occasion don't try it at this restaurant. Poor dining room management to say the least. We even say at least on party of 4 receive immediate seating even though we had been waiting (with a reservation) for 20 minutes. Last night I visited Movida at Hotel Madrid to celebrate a friends birthday with 6 other ladies. We were seated right away for our reservation and had a great time from start to finish. Our server brought the birthday girl a special surprise which was very sweet and kicked off the celebration perfectly. Since we all were excited to try a variety of dishes the whole table opted to do the unlimited tapas and honestly this is the way to go if everyone is willing (whole table must participate). We tried nearly all of the dishes included in the unlimited menu and it was definitely worth the $54/person cost. Some of my favorite dishes were the empanadillas, the grilled zuchini, hot honey Tosta, mushroom Tosta, steak Tosta, papatas bravas and the curry noodles. In addition to the tapas, I tried the classic old fashioned which was a very well balanced drink. I really enjoyed it. On nights out with friends I tend to switch between cocktails and mocktails so I switched to the America/Na which reminded me of a NA Aperol Spritz - it was very refreshing and light. The restaurant personalized a menu for our birthday girl and our server was very sweet, taking care of making sure we had enough portions so everyone could try something which was very helpful. Movida and Hotel Madrid are some of my favorite locations for ambiance. The interior and patio design is so dark, moody and stylish. Overall a great visit! Most of our party had been to MOVIDA before, but this was my first time and I loved it! We were very excited for the sangria flights and they did not disappoint. We all tried the red, white, and the season sangria which was pumpkin spice. I was a little worried about the pumpkin spice, but it was absolutely delicious. We tried a bunch of different plates to share. My favorites were the potatoes, nachos, and Brussels sprouts. There wasn't anything I tried that I didn't like. Our service was great and the tables were social distanced well. I would definitely be back and we plan on making another reservation for the Star Wars Pop-up bar outside!! read more

Dining on a Saturday night, around 7 PM. Waited approximately 10 minutes to sit down, but we were early for a reservation. The main level appeared to be about 75% full, and understaffed. We sat down and waited for someone to bring us water, took about 30 minutes. Host finally brought us something and explain that the kitchen was slammed and they were understaffed. Not a great way to start the evening. Our server finally showed up, he was great. Name was Ahmad. We ordered everything right away, food out fairly quickly, even though the first round went to the wrong table. I'd say everything was OK, highlight was the potatoes. Food wasn't warm, really on the verge of being cold. Empty Table next to us stayed dirty for a while, that was disappointing. Noise level was pretty high, but that's OK doesn't bother me. The reason I'm giving only two stars is because we waited a long time to be served, felt the cleanliness of the restaurant was below average, food was really just OK. Didn't help that it wasn't warm. Apologizing right off the bat for slow service and a slow kitchen from the hostess wasn't a great look. I could tell that things are gonna be slow, so my expectations are low. restaurant been open a while, I guess I'm surprised that Saturday night service wasn't more efficient. I understand that staffing has been an issue for many restaurants though. I didn't eat anything that I couldn't make at home and maybe make it just as good. Again, our server, Ahmad, was great. All smiles, good sense of humor, worked hard to make sure that we were happy. Only so much you can do. Packing a 20% tip onto a bill for three people also didn't really sit well with us. I started to take pictures of the food, but after the first few bites I completely forgot- my mind was only on the delicious flavors. Everything at movida is so good. I especially loved the pimento cheese, croquetas, patatas bravas, strip steak and mushroom tosta. If you go on Wednesday- their wine Wednesday deal is a free glass! Of course it's delicious Spanish wine as well. They also have an unlimited tapas deal for those who can eat a lot. We tried to tackle it but it was so much food! A great deal if you are really hungry. Our server was friendly and brought the food out at a perfect pace. The vibe inside and outside are both great- outside in the courtyard is fun for the summer, in the winter outside in the tent you will stay warm with all the rugs and any season the indoor dining room has so much character! Movida is the kind of restaurant that just makes you feel chill when you walk in the door. Romantic lighting, flowing curtains, brick walls, and close tables combine to give it a very inviting atmosphere. Let's start with the servers, they are always friendly, knowledgable, and ready to help with recommendations. The hardest decision I ever have to make at Movida is what cocktail I want to start with. They have the best sangria (red is my favorite) but every cocktail has its own personality and is delicious. Lately, I am in love with It's a Avocado - El Jimador Tequila, Avocado, Serrano Peppers, Mango, Lime it has a combination of hot and cold, and I think it is the perfect drink for a summer and fall evening. We ordered the Chef's Board, Baked Goat Cheese, Patatas Bravas, and Chicken Empandillas. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared! No, I have not yet tried the paella but yes, paella takes 40 minutes to make and no, the patatas bravas were not my all time favorite version. HOWEVER: this place is so good! The space, vibe and service are super engaging for going out with friends and being alive. Its not a quiet, romantic space and that's not why we've been coming back since even before they moved "into the hotel." The range of dishes on the menu is great and suits a tapas night perfectly. Beautiful interior! Came here for my birthday dinner tonight. Service was great and our table was out on their heated outdoor section and it was lovely. We have missed Spain since we first visited in 2019, but the food at Movida was delicious and definitely reminiscent of our travels. We nearly ordered everything. It was so hard not to lol (got too excited and forgot to photograph the broccolini, street corn fritters, crab tosta, and lomo tosta). I would say that for the quality and quantity of the food you receive, it is shockingly affordable. You are definitely getting your moneys worth and everything we ordered was equally yummy. Love Movida's happy hour deal! It is 4-6 pm every day and they have $1, $3, and $5 tapas. My favorite was the croquetas but everything we tried was pretty good. It was also Wine Wednesday so we got a free glass of wine! Service was quick and efficient, and our waiter told us upfront about the 18% gratuity charge which was much appreciated.
