I will always regret using this company. Although their name came recommended, by someone who had heard about them but not used them, I would never ever recommend them again. When I had to change the date to a Sunday morning for my move, I was sent the worst crew. The foreman was rude and insisted I had more items than he was told and when I was forced to fight the bill with AMEX, they fought back LYING and saying I lied about how many items i had. I moved to a tiny studio apt. Just how many items could a single person have? I had no more than 20 boxes, some of which were small and others that were larger. How long does 20 boxes take for 3 grown men to move with an elevator that was directly at the ramp that lead directly to their truck. I had saved the spot for them with my own car! I had 14 pieces of furniture. 14! I have the actually paper from AMEX stating how I lied about how much items I had. Please tell me why and how 20 boxes and 14 pieces of furniture takes that long to load and unload a truck for 3 men that my bill was over $1000. My favorite was that they drove, and showed through their gps records, 5-10 mps on a Sunday morning early, with no traffic, claiming traffic and that they took the longest possible route to get to my new location. I've lived in NYC for 24 years and I know the roads, the traffic and the best routes. They did not take the best route and there was NO reason to drive that slow. A close second on my favorite list of what I was subjected to was that upon arrival the foreman, as he had me sign a paper from the company stating I did not have to Tip, that I should tip him, and that even though they were late arriving to my new apt, I did give a Tip. I felt very pressured. But wait it gets better. I was told to my face, "That's not enough, can you do better?" I wanted to take the money back and tell him to screw off. But I felt intimidated and cornered as a single woman in my home. I waited more than an hour for them to arrive to my new apt. There was no reason this should have happened. They purposely worked slow and they purposely drove the wrong route. And no matter how many times I called and complained to AMEX they kept coming up with new lies to fight me back and to get the money I was holding back for the time I felt they screwed around with. NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY! They will lie and slander you for money! 20 boxes and 14 pieces of furniture should have taken 3 men 1.5 hours to load. 2 tops. and 1.5 to unload. My drive took me 40 minutes with no traffic. NONE! They were over an hour later to my new home. (some of the furniture were small rolling side tables and small kitchen table that folded up. Little things for a little apt. Insane that they fought and fought and didn't do the right thing!!!!!!! They forget that I will and have told numerous people about them. We had a bed bug infestation and this company did the pre-treatment packing . I was told that when they packed the jewelry in my jewelry box I would be present. The gentlemen who told me that left at noon and a young man replaced him and packed the jewelry without my being present. When I unpacked the carton of jewelry , I was horrified by the way the jewelry had been dumped and tangled up. When checking against an inventory I had, I discovered several pieces missing. The value of the pieces was close to $5000 and some of the pieces had great sentimental value and cannot be replaced. The company did not cooperate with the police department and ultimately nothing was resolved. Do not use this company if you have anything of value in your home. read more

I took out an extra 10,000$ in insurance for over 1 mill in merchandise. Every company that they sent to the house to judge the damage did not know about beitermeir furniture and all offered me $1000.00 in damages when I paid 10k for insurance and brought in expert in that was unbiased said it was $15,000.00 in damages. I would have received the same $ if I had not opted for extra insurance never mind pieces completely missing, but because I could not unpack every box in their presence i was just screwed. They ran off with a body sized mirror and a few small bins which they never removed from the truck. The bed and mattress protection covers we're removed as soon as I turned my back. Didn't notice until they were gone. I'm definitely missing things they left on the truck. I've called to see if they can have them returned. No call back. Your experience will completely depend on who they appoint to move your things. I unfortunately got an old dominican guy and a younger black guy who look like they just started doing moving work no more than a month ago. This moving company broke a $200 item during my move. It took 12 hours to move from a studio apartment. I paid the estimate then movers kept on receiving phone calls from the foreman in the office. I was told to pay several hundred dollars more before the guys unloaded the truck. I was promised four men and got three at the last minute. The company did not adhere to the services it was to deliver to me. The man from the office kept on laughing and acting like a jerk when I had told him that I wasnt even in my new apartment yet and had to give my credit card info over the phone in the street. We recently used Moving Right Along and wow! Let me just say, these guys were incredible! From the moment they arrived on the first day to pack up our belongings, up until the end of the second day unpacking and helping us set up, these guys were awesome! My husband and I had to leave our beautiful apartment after 14 years and downsize to another place. Needless to say, we were not happy. Our mood was anything but cheery. Depression, sadness and anxiety just about summed it up in a nutshell. As with any move, it is tough, but for us, it just seemed a little worse. We hired Moving Right Along to pack up our place when we got bed bugs. The pro was I found them quite friendly and they seemed knowledgeable about bugs. There were quite a few cons, though. For one, our estimate was not accurate - it came in at about half, and that was with me being there the whole day (about 10 hours) also working with them and myself packing the entire time. Also, right when he got there, when we were doing the paperwork, he had me initial a spot that said "tipping is not mandatory but some people give 15 to 20%." When we were doing the billing at the end, after finding out that our $1,500 estimate was now at over $3,300, he asked me if i'd like to add 15 or 20% to the bill. This was really uncomfortable, because we hadn't budgeted for twice the amount. I gave him all the cash I had in my wallet and apologized. They also told us that we wouldn't have to pack up our kitchen or bathroom because bed bugs never go there. Since this was a referral from the actual company that did the extermination, we thought they were familiar with each other's practices. This wasn't the case, and they had to come back the next evening and do our kitchen and bathroom (again, not budgeted for in their estimate.) We just got our stuff back after our treatment and the boxes weren't labelled well at all - only by what room things came out of. We did pay for insurance in case any of the items were damaged, but I get the feeling we won't know that right away since it will take us a while to get these boxes unpacked. We have two small children who have been without their toys for a month and we can't find them. It's a mess. read more

Never stopped moving even in the rain and they kept their spirits up. I had a great experience with Moving Right Along! I needed to move out of my NYC apartment remotely, having not been there in months because I had a sublet. Given we're in the midst of a pandemic I didn't want to fly back to pack everything up, so I had Moving Right Along do packing, junk removal and storage for my furniture and boxes. The prep team took a great deal of time and care to understand the scope and flag any issues that might come up. And the team who did the work on site that day seemed very well prepared and followed all of my requests and instructions carefully. Definitely felt like everybody went above and beyond to make a very stressful situation as smooth as possible for me! I had a friend there on site to oversee and help answer questions, and he said he was also really impressed with them. PLEASE stay away and don't use this company! We used them to pack us up and move and store our furniture and belongings after a flood in our apartment. They damaged much of our furniture (smashed a coffee table, banged up an antique desk, packed things so tightly that the couch cushioning was damaged as were chairs). And what's worse, in the unpacking we saw that the movers had thrown our clothing into boxes. Suits and ties were not hung in wardrobe boxes, but rather thrown in them rolled up into a ball. Though they acknowledged what they had done and at first seemed to legitimately want to help us make good on their negligence, in the end they they flat our refused to do anything to compensate us. We used MRA as our movers to leave our bedbuggy apartment and relocate into a new apartment. They worked with Bed Bugs and Beyond to pick up our stuff, gas it, then redeliver a few days later. It is expensive to do this, but it's the only way to be sure your stuff is bedbug free in your new apartment. We couldn't have been happier with Moving Right Along. They were punctual, friendly, and fast. They handled our stuff well and were just totally on-the-ball. If you're moving with MRA because of bedbugs, note that you're charged once for picking up all your stuff, and then again for redelivering it after it's treated. Also, they do charge you a four-hour minimum, which is the only reason I didn't give five stars. Both of our moves (in and out of two bedroom apartments) were under four hours, but we still had to pay. Even so, If I were moving again I would definitely use this company, and would totally recommend it to friends as well. Jason and Cliff and their team were so great! read more

Well it was a last minute thing to involve some movers..I lived in ozone park so I wanted to hire within... Packing everything was good once unloading a brand new tv was damaged and the insurance lady stated the insurance covers 30 cents a pound. I still didn't get my email to make my claim. Very expensive i think it was about 115 to 120 an hour plus tolls .... and the workers wanted 20% gratitude on top of the bill The experience was horrible. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST.... They literally left a mark or broke every piece of furniture we own. They never wrapped anything except the Television and the glass table. Otherwise, we watched our lacquer bedroom furniture chip as they bounced it down the stairs. They lost the wheels of our computer desk, so while waiting 6 weeks for them to repair ANYTHING -- the frame had already bent. Same thing with our bedroom set, the middle bed frame was never put back and when they got around to send someone to reattach it -- it had already shifted & sagged in the middle. Not to mention they ripped the mattress. There so much more, so disgusted with there lack of concern and MONEY HUNGRY BUSINESS, they quote you one price but then charge you more. I was real skeptical about the whole moving industries after hearing horror stories of fly-by night movers but my wife had used Moving Right Along a few times in the past so we called them. From our initial consultation with Timothy to the follow-up call from Karen everyone was especially courteous and professional. When Joe showed up right on schedule with his team of Jose, Tyson, and Lue, they were ready to get to work. In exactly three hours they had done what would probably have taken me and four of my best friends a week to accomplish. Nothing ever left the house that was not covered in a moving blanket. Unfortunately, one of my boxes left Long Island and did not arrive in Manhattan. Just by coincidence, the box happened to contain all of my jewelry. After weeks of seeking help at the company and hearing reasoning like "Check your apartment again" (it's 400 sq feet...) and "You chose to leave some boxes behind, it must be one of those", there was NO accountability accepted on their behalf. I filled out a form for their claims department and they determined that ALL of my jewelry that had been collected over a lifetime was worth THREE DOLLARS and that's what they offered me. They explained that this was because I didn't buy the extra insurance. I didn't know I needed to insure against someone walking off with my box. Needless to say, I have reached out to the woman who recommended them and she will no longer be doing so, naturally. ******CAUTION - THEY STEAL!!!********** In August of 2013, our 2-bedroom Tapartment had a water leak and we were required to move out of our apartment for 3 months in order to repair the wood floors. My first reaction to the movers were that they were on top of things, moving quickly and gracious. But sadly that turned out to be nothing but a cover. We had a terrible experience that is actually what people dread in planning a move! We had over $20K in valuable stolen including electronics, jewelry and family paperwork that we can never have replaced. In months of follow-up the company has tried to ignore my inquires and refused any accountability. It is safe to say the thieves are still working for the company! Do you want them moving your apartment? In addition, original paintings were put in cardboard boxes without any covering whatsoever. Hand-crafted wooden desks were broken completed through the drawers (as if a knee was put through it). Knobs were broken off furniture and delicate artwork was thrown into boxes together with hardly a tissue paper as if they were stuffed animals. And that was just the packing . We have a tall bookshelf unit with mobile ladders. During the move they broke the attachments on the wheels and did not inform me. Instead, the project manager told me "a wheel was loose" and that one of his men was repairing it. Well the repair was literally a piece of masking tape in the place of what is normally a screw! I kid you not and have pictures again to prove it. I was three month pregnant and in climbing the ladder for the first time (to rearrange the mess of unpacking) I fell at a height of 8 feet because of course the "piece of tape" did not hold. Is this acceptable? Unpacking is simply something the company should not even be offering. I wish I could attach photos here of the unpacking that I sent immediately to the company. Clothes were literally tossed into closets and shelves. Likewise bookshelves and kitchen items. I spent more time trying to clean their unpacking than it would have taken to unpack every item myself. Finally, they do everything possible to charge you more requiring additional boxes and crates but not taking care in how items are packed. They also require HUGE gratuities daily in cash and claim not to take lunch breaks, but sure take plenty of smoking breaks on your time! If this sounds like a nightmare...it has been. We are forced to revert to legal intervention at this time as nothing else has worked in resolving these open claims. Moving is already a trying time, I hope nobody else has to go through such a terrible experience. I used Moving Right Along 18 months ago. Despite punctuality and very nice movers I have to give them only three stars. They came in $1500 over estimate and we actually did much MORE of the packing ourselves than I had discussed with the coordinator. The packing that they did do was ludicrous. Individual cans of soda packed in paper ten sheets thick and clothes thrown into huge wardrobe boxes willy nilly, nothing arrived on hangers. Unpack ing I found that items from different rooms had been thrown together as well. One desk was broken, I called several times and was told to send documentation of damage and replacement value. I was able to do this exactly. After not hearing from them for a month or so I had to call several times to get a call back. They wanted to come and fix it. I had already replaced it, I didn't need to store a piece of furniture that was not reparable ( I had a carpenter look at it). This resulted in more stress and then a check for a fraction. I'm moving again and did not call them. A move estimated at just under $4000 was close to $8000 with tips. I moved from a three bedroom colonial to a house one mile away. read more

Wow, terrible experience! The worst move ever out of SIX moves, including cross country, and this was from Manhattan, to their Queens storage, and back to Manhattan! They broke more furniture than has ever been broken in any move (and over the shortest distance). I had to replace two bedroom dressers, a bookcase, and repair another bookcase. They also lost two vintage and sentimental stereo speakers and gave me the runaround on multiple phone calls in which they said they had them and would return them, only to then say they had no idea where they were and I would never see them again. But the worst, most offensive thing that happened to me (and the whole thing was a trauma), was that the driver who managed moving my furniture into my new apartment claimed that my couch would not fit in the door, but he just so happened to know someone who worked in the Moving Along Warehouse, would CUT MY COUCH IN HALF and redeliver it for a fee. The driver claimed that my couch would not fit into any NYC apartment - I've had it in three Manhattan apartments. So - while I was exhausted and literally in tears - my new super offered to let the couch sit in the basement and he and the porters would try to move it in later. I calmed down enough to go get a cup of coffee, and when I got back to my apartment, the couch was in my living room thanks to my super and the building staff (who I also paid on top of what I made the movers I had actually hired to move my couch into my apartment). After spending $4400 for the move and storage and return of furniture and tips (and being overcharged twice based on quotes and having to follow up to get that fixed!), I was left spending thousands more to replace broken furniture, and offered only about $250 for damage and the loss of my personal, and irreplaceable, items - which I declined rather than agree not to share my experience which was required for any compensation. I used this company in Feb 2015 to move from Queens to Long Island. I originally contacted them for a quote and they were very thorough and I decided to use them. They gave me their email to send pics of a couch I was thinking needed to be cut in order to move. When I contacted them again, I actually emailed them I wanted to book them and told them the date had changed by a few days. The person called me back to review everything once more, discuss the fees, and the couch. Nowhere did either of us mention the date. I was given a phone call back confirming the time on the Friday before. All of this time I was under the impression, I had booked them for a Tuesday move date. However, in my email I gave the wrong date- I gave Monday's date. I admit that was my fault and maybe the whole thing could have been avoided had the person confirming mentioned the date! In any case, I get a knock on my apt door Monday morning saying it was the movers. I informed them there must have been a mistake and that I was booked for Tuesday. They left and told me someone would contact me. When the person called later, we clarified and he said he would re-send the crew the next day. Now Tuesday morning has arrived. I am not the in the apt because I took my young daughter out to avoid being in the way, so my husband was handling the movers. He calls me a couple hours into the job and says on the paperwork they gave him, we were being charged $150 fee for changing the date! No advanced warning, no contract, nothing. I called and had to speak to the manager who informed me that they sent a crew, they blocked out time etc...I understand that issue, but shouldn't they have called me? He said I was lucky because he could have charged me more money, in the ballpark of $800, was what he said. I then asked you would tell me after the fact that you were charging me an $800 fee??? I at least deserved a call the night before to tell me that information and let me decide if I still wanted to use them. I felt I was tricked because now on the actual moving day, who would I call when the move was in progress???? I admit I screwed up the date, but they were unprofessional by not telling me about the charge. We did pay them and they moved our stuff- mostly with no issues (my daughter's crib drawer was misaligned and her dresser got scratched), but I didn't call them back to address it. They came in with a team of guys and packed my house in a few hours (4-5) It saved me 50 hours of my own time. The move was seamless nothing broken, nothing lost. Jimmy the owner was top notch. The company had a minimum of 4 hours for three men The total was over $1,000 to deliver paintings. Then to find out that there was a extra $25.00 for putting the bill on a credit card. the movers stole my ipad which was left on my desk, as they were moving my furniture. after i got in to my new place i called and called for weeks about it 'missing' but they barely returned my calls, and finally said it wasn't their problem! they did nothing. they actually told me they would give me $1 because my insurance only covered 30cents per pound for things broken. but they don't give you special insurance for things stolen! they also said they wouldn't give me the credit because i chose to do the packing myself- but i had never even packed the ipad yet. i was planning on taking it , as i did my computer, in a separate car. they actually said they knew it was most likely stolen, but it was the only thing missing off 2 truckloads and 2 days worth of moving. they were aggressive from the minute they got to my place the mover actually told me not to take out the insurance because it was all covered anyway. they were rude and uncompromising. i would ever recommend them to anyone. sorry for the caps! read more

I'm giving 5 stars to the movers!! These 5 guys came in my house and boogied!! They were nonstop for 12 hours.. They would not let me lift a finger, very nice respectful men, and I should also add HONEST! A pricey watch of mine turned up from under the washing machine they moved that I had lost a year ago and it was given to me , I was very thankful! I have nothing but a great review for Will and the crew. Moving was very overwhelming and they took over and got the job done. This company would have gotten 5 stars if there moving crew didn't outright lie about damage that was caused to my love seat. Yes, I signed a waiver because we thought there could be difficulty getting it into my basement, however, that is NOT when the damage occurred. For whatever reason, they decided to drag it into my backyard, before they even reached the basement door, This is when the damage occurred. My boyfriend was witness to this, the foreman on the job agreed but changed his story when he got back to the office. And to add insult to injury, they broke a light fixture in my hallway & the guys were overheard saying "it doesn't matter, she signed a waiver" Seriously?? Just because your customer signs a piece of paper does not give you the right to be irresponsible & negligent. read more

Avoid this moving company at all costs. I used them for a recent local move and it was nothing but a disaster. They lacked supplies, damaged several pieces of my furniture and then failed to adequately work with me on a resolution. I am still waiting to here back if they will refund the 3 pieces of furniture they completely destroyed due to negligence. It has been almost a month and no satisfactory resolution is in sight. Before the move I had packed everything myself securely and safely so that nothing would be damaged. When it came to the furniture, the movers lacked supplies to protect the furniture in shipment. I asked them to plastic wrap my fabric couches so they wouldn't be stained but they said they didn't have anything to wrap them with! Luckily I had wrapped my mattress myself before they arrived! They refused to disassemble my furniture including a large desk. As a result during moving they damaged the desk where the top of the desk connects to the base in 2 places. Additionally they completely destroyed a wood set of drawers on wheels and a metal file cabinet due to negligence. The movers put the items on the truck and then allowed the drawers on wheels to roll into the file cabinet and both pieces rolled off the truck and fell 5 feet to the pavement completely destroying both. The movers were completely unsympathetic as well as simply told me to contact their management company! Even worse is that my girlfriend was standing by the truck and the furniture nearly hit her as it fell off the truck! When I contacted the company for a resolution, rather than being helpful and understanding, they tried to screw me over by saying I didn't pay the correct amount for the hours used. Meanwhile the difference in time was because the movers went and took a lunch break in the middle of the move! So here I am now, a month later with most of my furniture destroyed and still no resolution at all. Unless you want a dishonest company and nothing but headaches please avoid these guys. read more
