I used this company to move from an apartment into a storage unit while my new house was being renovated. They were misleading on the pricing and on the day of the move wanted to charged me hundreds of dollars extra for packing material. As I began to take my stuff out of storage I noticed multiple items with damage. Chips in furniture, cracked picture frames, a smashed computer monitor, broken dishes and glasses. What a mess. I would not recommend this company. From what I've found during moving and renovating is that these companies have multiple crews and it's the luck of the draw which one you get. Like David Z, we also had no choice but to work with these movers, because of a partnership with the company who was cleaning our belongings after a mold event. And as David said, they made an already terrible experience worse. An entire box went missing during the process, and it looks like we won't be reimbursed for most of it without a long battle. A bottle of Buffalo Trace was mysteriously consumed. A very expensive speaker was damaged, but they claim that "because the damage is internal" they cannot be proven responsible and will not pay to repair it (never mind the fact that a speaker is a wooden box with all the important components contained inside and therefore any meaningful damage would be internal). For past moves I have paid a fraction of this cost for far better service (and no damaged or missing items). read more

Had lots of anxiety about "The Move" based on prior experiences plus all the horror stories people shared & the way they also ended with a sarcastic "good-luck" I picked Moving Right Along based on my neighbors recommendation, they were in the neighborhood for over 20 years and my gut feeling. But still expected problems of one sort or another. On Tuesday 8/17, TJ and his 3 men crew showed up at my house early He quickly reviewed what had to be done and made a plan of action. We could not believe how efficient the 4 men worked. Each had an assignment & went about doing their task efficiently. In record time the garage, basement & 2 floors were wrapped packed and in the truck ready to go from Queens to LI's North Fork. They negotiated the LIE traffic well. Unpacking the truck, unwrapping and setting up the furniture was again done in a systematic efficient way. Nothing damaged, the clothes was hung in the closets, beds were put together, sofas and other furnishings set up in record time. TJ is an expert at formulating an efficient moving plan, a great project manager and his team fantastic. Thank you TJ & thank you to the whole team! When I moved from LA back to NYC in 2020, I chose the wrong movers, which resulted in unimaginable stress, and months wrangling the fallout. Then in 2021 i had to move into a temporary apt, put everything in storage for months, then move to a new apt. This company provided several moves for members of my family over the years. Most recently, they moved me and my wife from a 3 story house in Queens to an apartment in Connecticut. They did a great job, which included moving a 260 lb high tech treadmill which didn't fit through the doors. One of the movers disassembled it and re-assembled....and it still works. Moving Right Along did good work for us. They were incredibly communicative and responsive. They guaranteed us a fully vaccinated crew for packers and movers, and we got that. The packers and movers themselves were very knowledgeable and efficient. When the moving truck got a flat tire on the interstate, they informed us quickly of what happened and worked to get the truck fixed and made sure the movers still unloaded same-day on the far end, despite the delay. They also comped us for the time the truck was broken down. The only reason it is a four instead of a five-star review is that the packers/movers weren't quite as careful and gentle with our things as we would have liked. Two boxes marked fragile were damaged in the move and a couple of glasses and glass frames were broken in those boxes (nothing really valuable, thankfully). One dresser was slightly dinged up. A chair leg was broken during packing (but they fixed it same-day in their warehouse in New York and got it back to us before the move the next morning). The movers were honest and easy to work with whenever there was any little issue. Thankfully, there were no big issues and almost everything made it through entirely in one piece. The movers worked really hard to get all of our stuff packed, loaded, and unloaded as quickly as possible. Overall, it was a good value for a difficult interstate move and the team at Moving Right Along was very easy to work with. read more

I had never used movers before. I always had friends move me. The building I moved to didn't allow you to move yourself. I had gotten one other estimate from another company the prices were very close. I decided to go with Moving Right Along because right from the start they were very professional and very courteous. I also felt the other company was quoting me much lower then they would charge. The move was hectic to begin with, the bank gave us one day notice on our closing. We had two days to get out of our place the buyers wanted $200 a day to stay there. So needless to say things were all over. The movers came in and were so calm and helpful. They were wonderful and they really know their business. I have very large pieces that are really hard to move. They worked around all the issues. The new building had us on a time limit. The movers got everything done on schedule. The super was beyond hard to deal with. They were beyond polite to a very mean nasty hard to work with person. They set everything up and also once again really worked with me getting everything positioned just so. Once again I cannot tell say enough good things about this company and their workers. I've used Moving Right Along twice before for estate reasons. After 5 long years, I was finally ready to have my family's estate furniture moved into my home. I spoke to Timothy and arranged to have the furniture delivered within a week. Juan and Juan arrived on time and were very professional and affable. My furniture was carefully wrapped and in the same condition as it was when I placed it in storage 5 years ago. Nothing was broken, scratched or even dusty. They were on time, efficient, careful, considerate and finished sooner than estimated (since they worked diligently and as a team). Shockingly irresponsible, unethical movers. Not to be trusted with anything of value. As the owner of a small, high-end business that has been serving celebrity clientele for over 20 years, any company worth its salt knows: When your staff damages something irreparably you make good on your responsibility and move on. Period. On the recommendation of a leading entomologist I entrusted my most valued possessions to these people. On the delivery day, when it was pouring rain, the negligence of one of their staff allowed a $7000 Donghia custom-made, vintage chair to be irreparably damaged by water. Amazingly, even though their own personnel viewed and documented the damage within days after the incident, and even though, at their behest, I had purchased replacement insurance, and even though I submitted the insurance claim for the replacement to them in a timely manner, Moving Right Along has dragged this process out for over 8 months, going from admitting there was an issue at the outset (for which I have documentation), to now - over 8 months later - trying to pedal backwards and (1) pretend that the chair couldn't possibly have gotten wet, (2) that I'm simply delusional and that I only believe my chair was damaged which is, according to them, impossible; and (3) it can't possibly still be in good condition because the chair is 15 years old. Small detail, my friends: this chair has never been used and its condition, beyond the water damage, is pristine. Withstanding the damage Moving Right Along caused to the chair, the resale value of a chair like this one -which is precisely why we bought it as an investment - is close to $4000. Moving Right Along is "shocked" that I would give them a poor review, and I in turn asked them: if the situation were reversed, wouldn't you do the same? Granted, we live in a time of lies, where a lack of admitting one's guilt seems to be the morality of the day. But I don't happen to be a liar - in fact, quite the opposite: as a member of the Outstanding Women in Human Services Hall of Fame, my work involves teaching children to be citizens of an ethical, just society. You can trust my review: steer clear of these people. Because once they destroy something they have no intention of fulfilling their obligation to replace it. I have never before reverted to reviewing any merchant on a public forum. And any mover who has ever broken anything during a move has replaced or repaired it. But the level of dishonesty that Moving Right Along has shown in this case is beyond the pale. I am preparing the paperwork to take them to court and may the truth prevail. read more

Avoid at all costs. Completely botched my move and ended up holding my items hostage until they were sure I would pay them for a day they themselves messed up. I was willing to look past the guy who showed up smelling like alcohol and the damage done to my apartment while they loaded their truck, but at every turn they did what ever they could to up the price. Essentially, they will do whatever they can to use your things as leverage to get you to pay for the mistakes they made. Easily the shadiest movers I have ever had the displeasure of using. Go with another moving company with a higher code of ethics and more respect for the customer and their property. Management literally didn't tell the crew what time to show up in the morning, and when there was confusion on the topic decided to take the low road and hold the items on the side of the road while still charging for the time. I was not expecting such an unethical negotiation tactic and I regret ever doing business with a company that would do that to a customer. I also found a left over hoodie with a bunch of pills in the pocket, which again, is something I could look past if the owner Jim was not bullying my mother over the phone. It's completely unacceptable - I shouldn't have to represent the women in my family so they aren't mistreated, nor look up pills after the movers leave. It doesn't matter if they are illegal or prescribed, it's just not something I should ever have to worry about as a customer. Look somewhere else if you want to be treated with anything resembling respect. I am just writing this to hopefully warn people in the future so they can avoid a situation like this. read more

Worst company to ever use , more than half my furniture was broken before ever being loaded in the truck , more than half my china , glass wear, personal family and memorabilia ,dishes etc. was broken . All boxes that I labeled very fragile were crushed and destroyed. And guys getting high in my bathroom and basement. Beware of all the BS they give you . While the moving men themselves were pleasant and helpful, when it came time for the back office to address multiple damages of antique furniture and loss of some expensive accessories, we have had nothing but double talk, evasion, and finally a ridiculous "we won't do anything for you" email this evening. We've been patient, have overlooked many small issues to focus on the big stuff, and trusted that after the MANY tens of thousands of dollars we paid the company, we would get fair attention. But no. Do not use. Unethical company. I hired them to pack and store everything in my house while my house was being repaired from a water damage. When they returned my furniture, a very expensive mirror was damaged due to their carelessness. The person in charge that day noted that the mirror had been improperly packed and made a notation to tell his supervisor. At first it seemed that they would repair it, they sent a furniture repair company to my house to inspect the mirror, they told me it could not be repaired. Then I was told that they would pick up the mirror and take it to another company to repair it, I asked who they were sending it to. Next day I was told that they were not going to repair it, it was not their fault. Obviously, they could not find anyone to repair it and did not want to pay for it. I also had 6 serving dishes missing, when I told them they returned 4. I wish I had read the reviews before hiring them read more

We finally decided to move out of our city apartment to our home in NJ. Having lived in our apartment for over 40 years you can imagen how daunting the task appeared for us. Last time I moved it took two trips in the back of my Chevy. Anyway had them pack up and move the apartment, they did a wonderful job. It was so nice not to have to worry about anything. We were quite disappointed in our experience with Moving Right Along Movers. Upon arrival, the movers did not have the proper tools, so my father had to run out to purchase them. We found the process to be extremely slow-moving and hectic, and even had to pay for an extra two hours than originally quoted. Some of our furniture was broken and pieces were left behind. When we called the next day to ask if they could come back to our home to bring one piece of furniture we accidentally looked over, they said that they would have to charge us a large fee. After giving them great business and overlooking many mishaps, we found this to be insulting and unprofessional. Needless to say, next time we move we will look elsewhere for assistance. read more

I recently used these guys for the third time. The first two were local moves not too far but this most recent move was long distance. Tim came over and surveyed what needed to be done and gave the estimate. After the move was complete the bill had no surprises, it was off by $3. The move was almost 200 miles! As for the crew, the guys were professional and polite. They stated they would be at my place about 8am and 810 they were knocking on my door ready to go. But here's the thing, like I said the move was about 200 miles in distance to northern NY state. We were scheduled for the 2nd week of the month but the weather can change up north in the blink of an eye. With a pending snow storm (12") and sub zero temperatures predicted Tim called and asked to reschedule for good reason. First, for the well being of his crew an second he alerted me as to legalities that if we ran too long I would incur additional charges as the DOT restricts the number of hours the guys can work which includes drive time. I respected him for looking out for his guys and he quickly put my mind at ease as we rescheduled for the following weekend. So, if you need to move give Tim a call. I've never been disappointed with them and if I need to move back down south I'll hit him up first. Job well done Tim, thank the guys again for me. read more

I hired Moving Right Along to move a couple of large, expensive pieces of furniture that I didn't want to risk moving myself. It cost $700 or so and I even paid for their extra insurance because I thought it would be worth it to be extra careful with these pieces. When they were moving, though, I saw them rushing over uneven surfaces, putting things down roughly, and just not taking proper care of the items. They also took hours longer than they should have to get from one place to another, and charged for every minute of that time. They ended up damaging a beautiful lacquer TV table, and responded by sending out a repairman who only made things worse and completely ruined the finish. About two months later, this is still unresolved, and they won't honor their insurance policy. Stay far, far away from them. I've used this moving company for the past 5 moves within NYC. My experience with moving right along has been great. Foreman Douglas M and His partner AP went so far above and beyond. We had a difficult situation where we were swapping apartments with another family. On the day of the move, they weren't fully ready or packed. The guys were working triple speed to try to help them pack last minute, get us both in, and help unpack afterwards. They barely took a break in the 8-9 hours it took to accomplish this bear of a project. Their attitudes, personalities were also an absolute pleasure. They never showed any frustration, while the rest of us were beyond stressed out. I would highly recommend this company- timely, efficient, helpful. HORRENDOUS experience. and even freebies like in the review above would not help here. a few pieces of my antique furniture have been ruined beyond repair during the move. what had been stored by them was apparently stored in substandard conditions, as it resulted in cracks and other serious wood damages. they generated additional business by delivering what they were supposed to be storing, and then charged for that, in addition to charging me for taking it back. i was robbed by one of the movers who got into my bag and removed an envelope with cash. a piece of furniture that they were supposed tohave repaired, came back a year later - untouched! the amount of offered compensation is about 10% of actual damages. This is the worse moving company EVER. My move was in October and they did everything wrong. The estimate, made without visiting my apartment to review what needs to be moved, was much lower than it ended up being. They even had to call in an extra man during the move. The movers were morons and weak. The foreman was a young kid who couldn't manage himself. The only hard worker was the older guy who packed the truck. The drill they brought to take apart, and then put together, some furniture was broken. I had to borrow tools from neighbors since my stuff was already packed. They smashed a stone table of mine, which also caused damage to my new apt's floor, when it hit. Dealing with the home office on the damage was one of the worse customer service experiences i've ever had. Their insurance offer for the broken table was insulting.
