Perfect temperature. I could taste cranberries, cherries, and raspberries. I chose an Underberg digestive bitters shot. It tastes like cough syrup, so you'll want to chug it. It's known to help digestion. The Irish Nachos sound fun! I'm striving to avoid gluten and dairy for digestive reasons, though. Extremely disappointed with my visit to Moylan's. The food here tasted like my tongue was on mute - flavorless and bland. If I'm paying $20 for a burger, I want to be able to taste it. The appetizers tasted frozen and heated up, not fresh. The wings were smothered in Franks Red Hot and the calamari had a chewy texture (and these were the best tasting items we received). The Irish stew was lacking flavor, the lamb could have been prepared better. The patty melt appeared to be missing ingredients; the bread was soggy and the cheese was sparse. When asked by the waitress if we would like boxes for all of the leftover food we did not eat, we expressed our dissatisfaction with the food. She appeared to take personal offense to our feedback and behaved passive aggressively toward us. Dropping the check on the table stating "we took the burgers off the check", immediately walking away before we could respond and snidely remarking "you're welcome" without turning around. We did not mean any offense, just expressing our dissapointment with the taste of the food, in hopes that the kitchen could hear their customers feedback. The interior itself was a bar setting. Nicely decorated and clean. A couple of TV screens playing sports to watch. I could see people wanting to buy a drink and watch the game. We stopped by around 5 pm Sat night (14Sep24). My family of four (2 small girls) were sitting indoors and ordered a burger, pasta, calamari, and kids' chicken strips. I also had Mt Tam Ale, a local beer. We liked all the food. The calamari could be better if using a larger squid instead of the small ones. Other food items are the same quality as other similar restaurants. The burger was a good size, and bacon was crunchy. The BBQ sauce was good. I admit this can be better with regular bun, but I'm reducing my carbs. My girls ate my fries and calamari. My wife had the pasta, which was good. This place is best to try the beer. Mt Tam didn't disappoint. If I can, I would buy the 6 pack to go, but my wife refused. Why 4 stars? There isn't enough waiters. While we were dining, I noticed 2 separate groups were disappointed of the wait, even with lots of free tables. Also, the male restroom smell bad. The stench from the urinal was overwhelming. Management do need to address these. Worst costumer service and the most awkward situation I had in my life. We ordered one soup we received two by mistake 1st waiter said that we could keep it then a second one said that they had to take it back after I started eating. When I told the server about the situation they said that the employee made a mistake and they had to correct it. I don't blame the waitress I blame management. Because they were the ones who were telling them what to do and they chose to mess up my night to teach their waiter a lesson. That's the worst choice anyone could make!! I know I didn't pay for that soup but taking it in the middle of me having it is disrespectful. This really messed up my night and left me nervous for the whole evening. Food was tasteless . Can I just say, our server was amazing! We came by on a Saturday evening(memorial weekend) and the place was busy but not too crowded. We didn't have to wait for a seat and our server helped us right away. Our friends had previously been here before and were familiar with their items. Their specials looked amazing, but pricey. Some dishes upwards to $34 a dish. We opted for their pesto chicken pizza with extra garlic, and my gosh, did they deliver! We were excited. Only issue was that the pizza didn't taste that great. It lacked flavor, which was so odd considering it's chicken pesto with A LOT of garlic. I don't know how to explain it other than it was just.... Bland. We loved everything else about coming here except for our bland food. Our friends loved their food(they got the lamb stew and pasta dishes). Maybe we just chose the wrong item on the menu. We coordinated with a West Marin relative to meet for lunch, and Moylan's was her pick: easy freeway access, plentiful parking, lots of varied menu options. Unfortunately, as we had a long drive home ahead of us, we weren't able to fully partake of the plentiful and diverse beer menu, but our server gave me a sample of Dragoon's Dry Irish Stout (so delicious) as well as San Quentin's Breakout Stout (smoother, more chocolaty, but a second-choice for me). Our server was attentive (didn't keep bugging us about ordering since we clearly were talking, then talking with each other ABOUT what we MIGHT order) and settled in as he saw we were ready to order. Friendly service, accurate, attentive. The food came out much more quickly than I had anticipated, and was all hot and tasty. Blue cheese burgers (one with TRULY garlicky garlic fries, the other with proper beer-battered onion rings - none of that crumbly stuff), and one lamb stew with a side of bread and butter. All three of us came away satiated, happy with our food, and having shared bites of each others because it all looked so tempting! The turkey sandwich wasn't as good as the rest of the food I don't recommend that one at all. They have happy hour from 3-6pm M-F on beer, wine and small bites The server was pretty much by her own in a big section but it wasn't an impediment for the service to be fast and kind Great beer selection and presentation. First, we didn't plan on coming here. Second, we are VERY glad we did come here! This dining experience is actually courtesy of HopMonk (see my review if interested . . . ). And I must confess, as I have been here before I am sorry the coin flip did not bring us here initially. They were able to seat us, a party of 8 old rowdies, without any wait on a Friday afternoon. If you have never been here, the ambience is truly a brewery experience with great food thrown in. The one whole side is a bar stool lined bar, with everything you expect behind the bar - taps, colorful and myriad bottles, TVs and chalkboards with special offers. We were seated in the upper level dining area, which is well lit and comfortable. We were quickly greeted and given menus, and began to peruse the options. Eventually we had decided on what we wanted, and had received our ordered drinks in the meanwhile. We ordered a variety of dishes, including: a blue cheese burger, with a vegetarian patty; a Thai chicken wrap; fish 'n chips; clam chowder; sesame chicken salad; side salad with Ranch; cheeseburger; fries and garlic fries. I think I missed a couple, but you get the idea! Our server was Melisa (and Eileen at times - they seemed like twins! ) and she was very helpful from the get-go. She offered a sample of the sesame chicken salad for approval before ordering, and kept running back and forth with our myriad demands. It's always that thought after she leaves that keeps her busy! The food came quickly for such a large order, and without going into a 3-page review of all the dishes, I can say that all dishes were thoroughly enjoyed - no complaints were heard by my ears. There were a few small mistakes (fries instead of garlic fries, and bun instead of lettuce wrap or a couple I remember) but again, Melisa quickly remedied the issues with service and smiles. Not easy, to be sure. She talked with me about how most weekdays it is only herself and Eileen running tables, and they may have a busser to help. This day they only had one chef in the kitchen! Wow . . . not only did they not show this shortage in help on this day, but it is something to keep in mind not only here but other places as we re-open and customer demand outstrips the labor supply. Patience on the customer's part can only enhance a great dining experience! Overall, a great time was had by us, and we appreciate the attention given to a large party like ours. I assumed the atmosphere would be more like a bar and wasn't keen on that but it was great spot for early dinner with a decent sized dining area. The standards of Irish pub cuisine aren't complicated or fancy but they're pretty good when done right. Unfortunately they're not done right at Moylan's. I got their burger and she got their fish and chips. We also tried their beers - unfortunately the ones we wanted weren't available. The burger was over done (ordered it medium, not a hint of pink) and flavorless as it wasn't seasoned well. The fish and chips were also poor - overcooked, thin batter, and no real beer flavor. Even the vinegar couldn't save them. The fries were also under-seasoned but some salt and pepper brought them to par. Service was ambivalent-- we asked about some items and mostly got told "people order it" but nothing about what it's like or what people liked about it. Finally the facility had seen better days. There are ceiling tiles missing from water damage and stains on the carpeting. Even their parking lot seems to mostly get used by Chick fil A patrons. Skip this one. read more

Having read recently that the venerable Marin Brewing Company is closing at Marin Country Mart, I thought I'd support their sister restaurant, Moylan's. I don't have good news to report, and am not sure I'd like to keep Moylan's around. The service was friendly, and while the beer is pretty darn good, the food is - in a word - awful. I took a few bites of what may be the worst pizza I've ever had, the Meat Eater. Crust seemed store-bought and was reminiscent of Chuck E' Cheese's. Meat toppings were extremely low-grade. Ham was nearly inedible. Simply not at all worth the calories or price (1 out of 5). Stepping up a notch are the Irish Nachos. While the portion is huge, the price is too ($18). Ingredients, again, seem very low grade, and execution was...let's call it indifferent. Again, not worth the calories or price (2 out of 5). The only dish I had worth eating again was the Sesame Chicken Salad, which was fine. While the chicken seemed commercial grade, the presentation and execution was solid, and the dressing was tasty (3 out of 5). Given the fact that most of the food I ordered was left sitting there due to its low quality (which I never otherwise do), my meal was worth nowhere close to the $75 all-in I paid. May be worth sitting at the bar and drinking beer, watching a game, but not much else, sadly. I want to support local institutions, especially in this day and age. But you have to show SOME effort. When it seems like your recipes and ingredients haven't been updated since the 90s, it may be time to revisit that menu. Given that Hopmonk Brewery, less than a mile away, has a far superior menu and food, with essentially the same business model, I know it can be done. Get on it, Moylan's. Would love to have a reason to revisit and support you! read more

I go here several times per year. Not sure if this was the case before Marin Brewing Company closed down, but they have some of the beers that were there (Pale Ale, Blueberry, etc.). My friend and I meet every other week for a beer and this is the first time that we've come here for our meet-up. It may become a regular location. They have two beers that we really like: Hop Craic and Dipsea Barleywine Ale. We like strong, hoppy beers. The staff here is friendly and seems fairly easy to get a table. Great grub pub food! People that disagree should dine in the city or Sonoma as they are likely looking for an elevated dining experience. Decent beer! I love the IPA's and stout. I miss the imperial and barrel aged stouts and would pay ridiculous money to bring them back!! Dingy but enjoyable atmosphere. The service is the key point though. All my servers and bartenders are great, friendly, knowledgeable. Melissa, Christian, and Brianna are amazing any time I come by. I always enjoy seeing the owner Brenden behind the bar. After hiking around the Hamilton Wetlands, I searched out for a brewery, and this one fit the bill. It's quite large inside, so normally you won't have any difficulty finding a seat. There were plenty of seats at the bar, and I grabbed one next to a nice Marine veteran. The bartender was cooperative in letting me sample a few brews, and I settled on a red ale. My order was fulfilled very promptly, and I settle down to nice conversation with the Marine veteran sitting next to me. I decided to get a light bite to eat, and I had a lot to choose from. They have a special menu for the day, as well as of course their normal menu items. I decided to try their special black bean soup, and it proved to be an excellent choice. It was very tasty but yet light at the same time. The restaurant does operate its own brewery, but you can't really get very close to it, which was a little disappointing. I always like to check out the brewery and maybe take some snapshots. However I'm told that they offer special tours occasionally. So overall, an excellent visit. Next time I will try a bigger meal. I killed one, two, three. Disturbing but ok? Everytime I picked up my fork there seemed to be one more, no two more. I ended up killing 11. I was grossed out & couldn't eat any more. Was it the salad dressing they were drawn to? Were they IN the salad? If this was what the salad was like at my table, how clean could the kitchen be? I was horrified to think of it. Stopped in here while doing some Christmas shopping at Vintage Oaks. Today was so chilly, and dreary we were eager for something warm and comforting. The fresh made Tortilla Soup was delicious and was just the dish for a winter-weather day. I then ordered the Cowboy Burger. Hearty and satisfying. The French fries and onion rings were yummy and the bacon was crisp, just right. The service is outstanding as usual and the atmosphere is all set for the holidays. For those reading this review, especially those who like good pub food, please tell friends and good acquaintances about Moylan's and let them know, Moylan's needs staff. Since the Coronavirus, Moylan's, like so many places has been short-staffed. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my dad - i had a burger, he opted for fish n chips. Washed them down with a couple of cold beers and let me tell you that was one satisfying meal! We were a little late in the lunch hour so we practically had the place to ourselves, which meant very attentive wait staff and the food came out of the kitchen almost before we finished ordering it! Had a great experience at Moylan's! My husband is a big fan of Kilt Lifter and it no longer gets distributed in the Sac area that we can find. So great to have it on tap and get some for take home. I had the raspberry ale which was light and refreshing. My husband got the corned beef Rueben and loved it! Juicy, tender and flavorful. The rye bread was soft and tasty (and I'm usually not a fan of rye). Side of garlic fries which were tasty also. I ordered the blackened chicken southwest salad and thought it was surprisingly good.
