THE GOOD & THE BAD I have to keep it honest and update my review. The last 2 visits pretty bad and left me feeling upset. PROBLEM 1: I had my nails done w/ Tracy and the next day half the crystals fell off! The girl is NOT GOOD and seemed irritated when I asked questions about my design. She didn't do the lotion massage that comes with a manicure and rushed me out and I think that's why the jewels came off so easily. Usually my nail tech Jay takes his time and it stays on for 2-3 weeks! My pedicure by Vickie was great. She gives good leg massage strong hands so if you're into that book her. The color that I chose for my pedicure was too pale so I decided to go back 3 days later to do a polish change. PROBLEM 2: 3 days later I called to ask for the price and the girl on the phone told me it was $10 for a polish change. Ok great! When I went to get it done they charged me $20- so I explained that I had called in the morning and was told it was $10. The older lady (I think she's the owner or wife) gave me major attitude and was arguing with me that it's actually $15. Listen. Paying $15-20 for a polish change is totally okay but if your worker makes a mistake you need to honor it not make the customer feel like she's getting jacked. Now you lost a customer over $5. I spend $120 easily here because I love getting designs by Jay but after this incident I'm taking my business down the street to Magical nails. If you go here I suggest avoiding Tracy and the lady w/ the attitude. Book Jay he's awesome :) read more

DONT COME HERE. I went here for my wedding nails after being a loyal client for years and specifically trusted them enough to drive an hour for this appointment. That was a mistake. I've had several friends tell me to stop going here but because I typically have good experiences with Jay. I overlooked their warnings. Since Jay wasn't available, I booked with the owner, John. From the moment I sat down, the experience felt rushed and dismissive. I was told to "hurry up" while choosing a color for my wedding which set the tone immediately. I told him multiple times that these are really important nails so I needed to make sure they were done really nicely. There was zero acknowledgment that this was an important appointment. The front desk girl was trying to give me ideas prior to having to choose a color and he repeatedly told her to stop and go away in a rude way. She is a sweetheart and to be honest, shouldn't have been treated that way. The quality matched the attitude. When my nails were finished, my thumbs already looked grown out, like I had gotten them done a week prior. When I pointed it out, I was told he was "too busy" to fix them and had to rely on someone else to correct basic work. They fixed the "grown out" nails and i left. My nails looked fine after the fix and I have no complaints about that, it's the way I was treated during the most important nail appointment of my life that left me feeling disappointed in this business I had been coming to for the longest. It didn't end there. I had also booked my mom for the next day the same time I booked my appointment a few weeks prior. When she accidentally missed her appointment (which I totally acknowledge was our fault) I called to reschedule and John told me would not take us at all and that we should go somewhere else because we take too long and to find another tech bc he won't do them. He has never even met her and the only reason we had picked him to do them was because Jay recommended him for my wedding nails since he couldn't be here. I was shocked. For a long-time client to be treated this way especially three days before a wedding says everything about how this business is run. The lack of professionalism, flexibility, and basic respect is honestly surprising. I will not be returning, and I would strongly recommend others to reconsider especially for important events. read more

I told her no, and I just wanted the remove my gel-x. She told me $10. However, when I made the drive, the rude old lady at the front with glasses quoted me $15. The young lady next to her spoke up for me and said "I told her $10." And the old lady said "well, it's $15 since you don't want to get another service with us. I'll give you $10 if you want to add a manicure." I'm not going to trip over $5, but stick with your price you already told your customers. If they initially said $15, I would've paid that. However, I just walked out since the old lady was so rude. The young lady was sweet and apologetic though! Looking at other reviews, this place plays with their prices. I'm so disappointed to say that the technician I had today was so mean to me for absolutely no reason.. She kept slapping & pushing my hands hard or pinching me so bad. I came in for a manicure and from the jump she was upset with me because the color pallet she gave me didn't have the color I wanted so I showed her a picture for inspo and she kept having an attitude while looking for the other color pallets.. I tried to ignore it but she was being so rude & this is so disappointing because I've been coming here for almost a year & absolutely love this salon. Not to mention she cut my cuticles so bad it hurts and is still bleeding and burning. To make things worse she cut my nails without asking me so at this point there was no return in getting my nails back the way that they were.. The manicure itself was decent , the previous one with another tech was the best but after this I'm not sure how to feel about this anymore ! I haven't gotten my nails done in a hot minute and decided to try this place since they do walkins! I went at 2:30 ish on a Monday and it was pretty fast, though it started to get crowded when I finished (3:40 ish) I didn't wait long at all for a walk-in, and immediately showed an inspo pic, and if i'm honest my nails turned out cuter than the inspo pic! The person doing my nails did it quickly and tried to copy exactly, but I told her to just wing it! We agreed to the size and this is what is expected, but she did a great job and not making me feel stupid for not knowing exactly how I wanted it. She was very kind and was not giving passive aggressiveness when I wanted shorter nails, and kept changing it. The salon itself was pretty spacious and I have to compliment the lack of smell, since usually most salons have it reeking of the nail polish. The chairs were comfy, the front desk and workers were very nice, and I'll definitely be back! Rude male worker caught in a price lie. I called the day before to confirm how much it was to take off my gel nails ($15). I come in to ask the male worker with short hair and round eyes and he said $20. I said I called and it was $15. He gets mad and says I have to go back to my original nail salon to take them off because they can't do it here. I wasn't able to get my nails off. He then seemed to have ramble off on Vietnamese. Came in for a pedicure $24 + $8 for callus remover. My tech was Jenny. She was efficient with the cleaning- left with soft feet. No complaints I enjoyed my service. On the other hand my daughter had a manicure $13. She just got a regular polish, so they turned on the fan so she could hold her hands up to get the polish to dry. They just left it on the whole time without checking in on her. She was complaining of feeling cold cause the desk top fan is literally blowing at her face. I had to tell her to check if it's dry and to just sit in the chair behind the station away from the fan. Since I'm sitting in the pedicure chair I'm not near her and my daughter is too shy to ask. I'm deducting a star because something as basic as checking in on your customer shouldn't have to be requested. Not a single person checked to see if her polish was dry to turn off the fan that's blowing right in her face for more than 10mins. It does not take that long for polish to dry. The tech had glasses- she seemed like the boss, she assisted me in the front with checking in and directed the other tech who was working on my daughter to do a pedicure for a customer that just walked in. So she came to finish off with my daughter's polish. She just left and never checked back in. If she really was the boss she definitely sucks at customer service. To me that's not completing the service. I didn't tip that lady, but don't forget to tip well to your tech who is doing a great job! But overall I did enjoy my experience. read more

First impression, the nail salon is very clean and the staff are very friendly. I went on a Monday afternoon and there was hardly anyone here. The are so many massage pedicure chairs and manicure stations. This place definitely could service a good number of customers at a time. I would recommend Jay for manicures since he is very meticulous. Tina did my pedicure and she did a great job. My mom had Cindy do her pedicure she was also very pleased. This was my first and last time going to this place. I had been reading Yelp reviews about this nail spa so I decided to give it a try. Their website stated a pedicure was 1 hour for $25. I was the first one to arrive when they opened. The place was nice and clean. The staff that was there were friendly. 3 other clients arrived right after I did. I was sat on a chair and an employee began to attend me. As she's about to start working on me another client walks in with an appointment. At that point the other 3 clients who arrived right after me were already getting worked on so the employee who was going to start working on me said she was sorry but she needed to work on the one with the appointment first and to wait 5 minutes for her co-worker. I understood. I wasn't in a rush so I sat there for another 10 minutes with my feet in the water until another employee walked in. I had already chosen my color with the first employee who was going to work on me but I was given a color to choose from again which didn't have the color I originally chose. I tried to explain that the first employee knows the color but we weren't understanding eachother so I decided to just choose another color. All the back and forth lasted longer than my actual service. The service was a total of 15 minutes! She clipped some of my nails, put some cuticle cream and ran the cuticle cutter around each nail, not actually removing anything which I was shocked being that I hadn't had my feet done in a bit, ran a scrub over my legs and feet, ran the pumus twice over the bottom of each foot and painted my toes leaving nail polish on my skin. Other nail spa places I've gone to always run a brush with acetone to clean off excess polish from my skin. She sat me down in the front to dry my toes and was gone. A 15 minute service! I explained to the cashier that this was the fastest pedicure I've ever had and the website advertises 1 hour for $25. She asked if I wasn't happy with the service, I told her no. But it wasn't her fault. I paid and left. My receipt shows staff as Ngoc. So avoid her at all cost if possible! I will be going back to Pearl Nails to get a real pedicure. They take pride in their work no matter how big or small the service is. read more

It's conveniently located in a large shopping plaza on Atlantic Blvd, between the 10 and 60 freeways. If you go there on a weekday, there is ample parking in the parking lot, which is shared with L.A. Fitness, Mr. Baguette, and NBC Seafood on the other end. If you go there on a weekend, it's probably best to go after 2 pm, when the dim sum crowd dies down at NBC Seafood. I decided to try out MPJ Nail Spa because I was looking for a reliable nail salon that's close to home. MPJ has good reviews and a 4.3 rating on Yelp! I got my nails done again with the same style but a different technique! The first time I did gel-x and it turned out so pretty but my nails of course became weak. Just recently I did french tips with chrome again but I voiced that I didn't want my nails to weaken even more. They suggested I do a gel overlay to help my nail growth and to come back to do a fill. Terry was my nail technician and she is the sweetest and most detailed technician ever! Every time I come back, I get different people but they're all so sweet and make sure that I like the way it looks before they cure anything. I originally came in this past Saturday to get a fill on my acrylic set. The work was OK, however I noticed the nail tech was a little messy with the clear coat application so when the gel polish cured it was overlapping onto my cuticles. 3 days later on Tuesday, one of my nails had already lifted and came off. I went in that Tuesday to get it fixed. The receptionist was very nice but the nails techs are rude! The one who messed up my nails kept looking at me and didn't greet me. Another nail tech asked if I was here for ANOTHER fill. Multiple techs came up to me, would look at my broken nail and walk away. This went on for around 30 minutes. Once my nail got fixed and I left, I noticed it wasn't even the same shade of red. My nails looks thick and I am not happy. I was getting gel builder and 2 of my nails tip were broken, Instead of them using the gel builder technique they just put gel x on my broken nails and told me I need 4 gel x nails. I trusted them and said okay, I got the French tip and left, I wasn't happy when them. I came back because I noticed my right index finger nail was lifted and had a gap between the gel x nail and my natural nail not only that the bed of my nail looked uneven. So the manager or owner wasn't sure who she was just added more gel on top of my nail. I showed her the gap under my nail and she added gel. It looks horrible. It is not ok to play games with prices. Transparency is important if you want people to come back and feel good about coming back... I would strongly suggest asking for total before getting services done here.... I know I don't like unexpected price increases... especially when the first time was lower than the second and the exact same services was given both times. This is my second time here with my mom, we both got same services done ... they asked us to choose which pedicure package we wanted, in which we chose the basic option for $24. They asked us if we wanted callus removal for $8 additional , in which we both agreed... thinking total will be about $32 plus a tip so $40 or $42 depending on how services are at the end. During the services I was seated next to an indoor plant at the end of the shop and it was infested with mosquitoes! I have bites everywhere... the owner/manager attempted to spray the tree down with an outdoor bug spray... it wasn't working since it's infested with flying bugs... she never even gave me a discount for the uncomfortable experience when this is supposed to be a relaxing time for me... When I was done and walked up front to pay... the sweet Latina girl upfront looked at the bill and gave me a nervous feeling I can't explain the look she had other than confused...but when I looked at the receipt it said $42 pedicure plus $8 and total of $50..... I asked her why and she asked the lady who did the pedi and she broke it down to me as such: $24 for pedi, $13 for gel polish , $8 for callus removal plus $5 gel removal fee.... Total to be $50 each ... that didn't make any sense when we chose the $24 basic pedicure with $8 Callus removal= $32 each.. that's what I thought it should be ... they did not inform me of the $5 gel removal fee at all and this is our second time here. The first time we came in I had a basic pedicure plus gel color ... my mom had basic pedicure plus Callus removal and gel color: total $70 for both plus we gave a tip so total was $80. Now I've been to too many nail shops in my time and it's always unfortunate when things like this happen because as much as I would love to keep coming here.. it does not feel consistently transparent and I can't do that to myself. I've also never been to a nail shop that charges gel removal for pedicures when we are returning customers... it just feels like they and trying to make money off every little thing... sometimes when u give a lil to your customers, we feel good giving u more tips... but this is definitely not the way to go in making extra because you may lose customers just like me and my mom and anyone else I've Refered.
