I have gone to other nail salons in Atlantic Square and there is a MASSIVE difference in care and quality at Dean's. I don't mind paying more for a CLEAN and responsible nail salon. I've been coming here for at least two years and bringing people here with me and I always get compliments. Felt confident enough to even get my wedding nails done here. 20/10 cannot recommend this place enough. I've been a loyal customer of Kristy's for a long time and spend a lot of money at this salon. Unfortunately, Kristy wasn't feeling well today, so another technician named Tony did my daughter's nails. My daughter showed him the inspiration picture before he started, and the final result looked nothing like what she requested. The design was missing several major details, including the white sculpted accents, the flower, the gold embellishments, and the overall quality of the pattern. We came to an agreement were charged $80 for a set that didn't resemble the inspiration. What disappointed me even more was the customer service. When I politely asked if they could fix the nails, I was told they couldn't do anything because my daughter was a last-minute addition and that I would have to wait for my regular nail technician to return. If they weren't able to recreate the design, they should have been honest from the beginning instead of accepting the service and charging full price. As a loyal customer, I expected much better communication and customer service. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I hope management addresses both the quality of the work and how loyal customers are treated. that Kristy was gonna fix her nails. She also told me that before I came into the appointment that I needed to talk to the owner of the company so I was kind of surprised so I called the guy and he was saying oh cause you're still complaining and I don't know what so she doesn't wanna talk to you which is fine. DONT GO HERE!!!!!! KRISTY WAS UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE AS HELL!!!! RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY! UPDATED REVIEW / RESPONSE TO OWNER I stand by my experience 100%. I came in with a reference photo from your own page and clearly explained what I wanted. When the tips were first applied, they were wide and not the shape I asked for. Before acrylic was even applied, I politely spoke up so I wouldn't end up paying for something I didn't like. That is normal as a paying client. Instead of being understanding, Kristy immediately responded with attitude and said, "you're going to make me take them off?" Whether you choose to deny that or not, that was said, and it set the tone for the entire appointment. I even apologized in the moment because of how uncomfortable the interaction became. After she removed and reapplied the tips, she asked me about length. I did NOT ask her to choose for me--I simply asked what length was used in the reference photo so I could choose something similar. That's when her attitude got worse. She became dismissive and irritated, saying it was my responsibility to know my length. Asking for clarification is not being difficult. Your response focuses heavily on technicalities (length, time, process), but completely ignores the actual issue: the way I was spoken to. This was about attitude and professionalism. I was not rude, I was not difficult, and I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I was simply trying to communicate what I wanted before moving forward with a full set I was paying for. The situation became uncomfortable enough that I stopped the service. I was then left with tips still on my nails and had to ask for them to be cut down. Even then, I was left with plastic tips still on the edges of my nails. Also, mentioning that "camera footage was reviewed" does not change my experience. If anything, if that footage truly supports your claim, then feel free to share it. I am not backing down from what I experienced. I know how I was spoken to, and I am 100% certain that the attitude I received was not appropriate. What I described is exactly what happened, and dismissing it as untrue is simply downplaying a client's experience. At the end of the day, clients should be able to ask questions or request adjustments without being met with irritation or made to feel like a problem. Came back not long after my last review and had a really bad experience with another nail tech--I had previously only seen Dean prior to that experience. This other nail tech refused to remove my gel without drilling and they refused to service me as a result. Very disappointed. Dean was great but I was also disappointed with how he handled this. He allowed his employee to disrespect me and refused to accommodate me--all I wanted was someone who would not damage my nails after years of bad experiences. Not sure why nail techs get such an attitude when I insist on no drilling. I don't recommend this place at all but if you have to go for a gel manicure, only go to Dean. read more

Not sure why I spend my hard earned money here for so many years. Its true, they do not honor loyal customers as many of the reviews have mentioned. They are rude. The owner, the nail techs barely speak English, barely speak to you or make conversation. They speak only amoungst eachother and complain about customers in front of their faces in their language. They get upset when i ask not to drill my nail bed and only do a light file. My nails were already damaged and so thin. Gel polish started coming off after 1 week and they blamed me for not getting a full manicure and opting fot gel polish change as I'm sure many customers do. I was a consistent client of this salon in the past and always had positive experiences. It had been a little over a year since my last visit, and I decided to come back because the nail technician I always went to previously did great work for me. I came in hoping to get a simple acrylic full set with a French tip. When I arrived, I was told that the nail technician I requested was not in that day, but I was able to book an appointment for the following day instead, which I accepted. Later that day, I received a phone call from the salon that I missed and returned the call. My go to Monterey Park nail spot, after trying dozens of nail shops in that same plaza lol. This has been the one I have landed on, I typically just walk in and I'm usually seated and worked on right away. They do also take appointments which I've also done. I've had a few different people do my pedicures and they've all been great. Depending on the service I do pay between $40 and $60 for gel as I always add callus removal. The vibe is nothing special in here, shop is small, but they do have good air conditioning and the massage seats are always great. Got a gel pedicure at Dean's 2 days ago, and it was okay. During the pedicure, I noticed the technician was really digging into my nails and it was kind of painful when she cut them. I became concerned about the sanitation because I didn't see her opening any new products. Now two days later, one of my toenails is hurting quite badly. I'll update my review soon, because I'm keeping an eye to determine if she just cut the nail badly or if I'm developing an infection. It's not my first time here, and the employees were always kind - but I can't tolerate the fact that they've hurt my toe during a pedicure where I didn't see great sanitary practices. My appointment was scheduled at 10:30 and I wasn't started till 11:00 and they tried starting my pedicure at 12 but I declined. They were able to accommodate our appointment time for two people for a simple Regular Manicure. They texted me a confirmation as well! Arriving at the venue, I parked at the parking structure behind the plaza. Dean's Nail and Spa is located in the corner of the plaza turn so it's easy to spot! The inside was very clean and orderly. I am very dissatisfied with this establishment. I had been a customer for over two years. A new gentleman was present, and the technician who usually does my nails was not there. The new male technician "assisted me," but I have been getting gel x for years, which usually lasts me about 4-5 weeks, and this time they were just coming off. I returned, and the technician redid them for free but tried to blame me for the problem, which has never happened to me before (I didn't tip him because of his accusation). It happened again, and even though I remained polite throughout all the driving back and forth and the time wasted, I went back again, staying courteous. The technician who typically helps me was absent, and I was refused service and banned from the place. They refunded my money, and when I asked why, the answer was that no one wanted to assist. Here's a suggestion for enhancing customer service: please train that new technician. I loved this place and had never faced any issues before. I was never rude, I would tip generously, and this experience really hurt. I have never been denied service. I would understand if I were being disrespectful or if I was the one removing them, but that was never the case. About a month ago, I submitted a Yelp request and they were very responsive, texted me back almost immediately and managed to schedule an appointment with them for both me and my friend for mani-pedis. It's located in a busy plaza with 5 or more other nail shops so make sure you go to the right one. There is a parking garage in the back. It is a tight space with the massage chairs along the wall and the mani station on the other side. We both got regular pedis and I got a gel manicure, my friend got a regular manicure with no color. It was funny because the person working on her was confused about the no color requests but they offered a powdery finish that made her nails shiny. I rarely get a mani-pedi, so I really appreciated the way to pick colors, they had a ring of multiple color palettes painted on fake nails that you could put over your nail to see if you liked the color. read more

Only thing is I had some gel polish they had to remove on just one foot and was charged an additional $5 for it. Wish someone told me before hand that removing gel from one foot would be $5 just so I wasn't surprised at the end. I made an appt, got there an was seated right away, which was really nice. The scenery is very nice and cute. As the nail tech was doing my nails, we picked the color and was going very well. Showed her my nail inspo. The owner who did do my nails could of done a better job for the work she has done on others as I've seen from the pictures on here. I got a full set (squared shape) with French tip done. They came out okay on my end, could of been more filed down, just needed to do something with my nails. They were actually peeling by New Year's Eve, but who has time to yelp that night? Typically my gel manicure pedicure lasts much longer than this, like several weeks longer, maybe even a month on my toes. Also, the person who did my nails was not careful or skilled. I came back today to get an acrylic pedicure as I've been getting here for months and I've been loving them but this time whoever was doing my nails, did not listen to me, kept asking for her to change certain things would not change them (acrylic toe shape/length) They Tried charging me more than I normally pay (42normally) (if the pedicure is 25$ +12$ for acrylic toes how does this = 55?) My friend even pointed out her when I brought up something that I didn't like he started changing the price on the screen after service (tried charging me 55 for a basic pedi and 1 acrylic toe). I asked for an acrylic toe she painted my regular toenail He keeps saying he'll pull up the video that she put acrylic on it. They put on acrylic to literally match the same size as my regular toenail. It looks chunky thick and ugly like a 5 year old did my toes with a cvs acrylic kit. will never be returning. I asked the lady over three times to make the acrylic longer so it's not the same size as my skin, and SHE DID NOT LISTEN TO ME!!! Then they finish painting my toes and tried to charge me and I told him it does not look right and to fix it (yet again for the 4th time now expressing verbally im unhappy) and they refused to fix it and they still tried to charge me so I said I'm not paying unless if you fix it, and then he stated they refuse to fix my 2 big toes which were the one issue and started cursing at me to leave. Very unprofessional. If your customer expresses that they don't like something why won't you try to fix it? I don't do things your way if the customer is asking for something different. this is the first time I came in here and got anything but what I asked for... used to be my go to spot now never coming back.
