I was looking for a Mexican breakfast spot and I found my new go-to place. They only have a few items for breakfast, which included the hueve con chorizo that I ordered. Everything from the complementary chips and salsa to the fluffy rice and lumpy refried beans were delicious. I liked that their chips are light and crispy and not thick and crunchy. The cashier/server was great! I was going to help her take my water to my table, but she insisted on doing it for me. She even helped me charge my phone for me. The dining area was clean. Not sure if it's because I came when they just opened at 9:00 a.m. As far as the restrooms are concerned, I did not get a chance to check them out. We love this place. I highly recommend their chicken sopes. They are huge and really good. The horchata was super good as well. Their large horchata drink is massive and definitely worth it. The interior has been painted a vibrant happy yellow with colorful hanging paper decorations. Upbeat Mexican music plays in the background. There is a generous outdoor seating area as well. I googled for great tacos near me and ended up here. I checked their window and saw they had an "A", so figured we'd give it a try. The food was good and piping hot, but the burrito was a bit small when size matters. In the end, we left with full bellies because we had chips and salsa to sample along the way! My search continues for that perfect shrimp taco that has the shredded lettuce and cream sauce that gives it that special taste. Here, they used shredded mozzarella cheese which was a bit overbearing to the overall taste of the taco. I enjoyed when they put an authentic Mexican song on the jukebox, and appreciated that they didn't complain when I asked for extra salsa since there wasn't a salsa bar to help myself. I love this little place. It's a local hole in the wall that serves up big food. I've lived here for more than 15 years and I have been committing here ever since my cousin first brought me here. Come in, sit down and someone will be with you shortly. Chips and salsa are free, yes free! I know that's almost unheard of from a restaurant anymore. The salsa is always fresh and not very hot, it's a comfortable heat level to enjoy eating it. They don't skimp on the serving and you won't be overpriced for your food. The staff could be a little more friendlier but it's not a big deal because they are courteous. The only thing people might not be thrilled with is that their restroom is outside around the building but again so are some other places. read more

This used to be my menudo spot , not anymore lately it's gone down hill last couple times I've had the menudo it's tastes like it's been reheated multiple times , the tripe is mushy and over cooked. The salsa that accompanies the chips always tastes fresh, and the salsa used on the tacos- which is different- has just the right about of heat. They truly have their proportions of spice and taste down to an art. The tortas are amazing... the carnitas is authentic and full of flavor.. every thing I've tried, I've almost died of pure happiness over. If you go out to Mexican food at those generic places, you are getting a sad, watered down, americanized, generic, version of the real thing that is served up reguarly at Los Altos. When receiving the food the to go containers were partially melted from being microwaved. The food was overly salty and didn't have any flavor. However the plastic wasn't breaking down like food, but breaking into pieces inside my mouth and cracked my tooth where I had a filling. I told thief employee who was unapologetic about it, and told me it was just a piece of the plastic from the sour cream squeezer. (Huh, it's just what?) I'm not asking what it is. I clearly see what it is, and I'm sure I know how it got there! but why are you saying it's just???and do you realize I have a cracked tooth. What a small little gem in the heart of Chester Ave! We were suppose to head to another taco place, but that placed closed at 5 p.m on a Saturday. So we decided to travel down Chester to see what's available. You'd miss it if you blink. Small parking and small sign, but what matters most is the food. The food was cooked right then and there, so there will be a small wait but its worth it! We tried the sopes, quesadilla, and torta. The torta was great, the quesadilla was put together like Taco Bells Mexican Pizza, but it was packed with meat and cheese. The sopes is what will keep me going back for more. The burritos were dry like no tomorrow; the tacos I ate were bland and tasteless. Not sure if they ran out or what, but they are missing cilantro in their salsa, which is a key ingredient. No guacamole on their tacos or burritos. Just finding everything we ordered to be "off." The bathroom is the back of the building and resembles an out-house.
