My family and I have been eating steamed crabs from Mr. Bill's for over 15 years, I love the old bay seasoning that comes on slathered on those crabs : ), I've gotten a small "just for me order", and I have gotten bushels from them. I have never had any problem with the way they were cooked or the freshness. I am sure there's plenty of fresh seafood places around Lancaster, but I have a history with Mr. Bill's, I just crave the crabs....Nothing like setting the table with newspapers, mallots, and a roll of paper towels handy and great company for hours, just picking and eating away.... ahhh, I want some now.... read more

Mr. Bill's always has great seafood to take home and cook and their Fat Crab cafe is wonderful as well. I have been there twice and each time it is awesome. Best soft shell crab I've had and best fish and chips I've had stateside. read more

Just had Crabs from here and I was very disappointed. It was for a fundraiser and if this is the quality of crabs then I would just rather donate money. The crabs were almost empty. If they did have meat it was mushy. Had them last year and I thought they were good. This year they were bad. I gave 1 star wish I could give 0. I crab almost every weekend so I do know it is a hit and miss but I also know that you can tell if the crab has meat or no meat. Its a shame cause alot of people that go to this fundraiser are thinking of not going this year read more

Try this place quite a few times..generally has not worked out for me, overcooked crabs making them mushy. I have eaten crabs for 30 years, mostly from the Chesapeake and these pale in comparison. Certainly willing to pay top dollar for juicy tasty crabs but you won't find that here. Prices outrageous for mediocre experience. read more

We decided to check out this place on a whim on a Saturday afternoon in mid-March 14' because several people had raved about it, and we were going to be having a birthday party and the guest of honor wanted everything seafood. When we arrived, I literally said "This is the place?!"... the exterior and small parking area look dated (plus at the time, gravel and broken bottle glass laying around) - definitely needs an update, and nothing really screamed "seafood" aside from the neon writing on the windows, but we didn't come here to eat the outside of the building, so that doesn't figure much into my rating. Upon entering, you walk in to see a freezer case nearly the entire length of the store. One would expect it to be stocked to the "gills", but it actually left a lot to be desired. We figured perhaps because this place has "fresh seafood" in the name (and that it was a Saturday afternoon), maybe all the fresh stuff was snatched up already and all they had left were the frozen or pre-made items currently being offered in the case. To be fair, there were some fillets and other fish, but nothing you couldn't pick up at your local grocery store's seafood department. Secondly, the prices were OUTRAGEOUS. I've already come to figure, at this point, that likely nobody is delivering "fresh seafood" daily to this place, and there certainly is no place close by in landlocked Lancaster to go clam digging or flounder fishing. The prices were FAR off base for the items being offered, and the claim "fresh" is highly suspect. On the right side of the display area, there was a large freezer case stocked with frozen lobster tails, snow crab legs, clam strips, etc that again, were very overpriced for being frozen pre-packaged items. Against the wall, there was a lobster tank that appeared broken and not in use. It was still in the main area, but was very dirty and had dust build up on the edges. There was a second tank that had a few lobsters in it, but that was all in terms of live seafood. No live blue crabs as they advertize. As my fiancee and our friends (who had been there before) looked around, I took the opportunity to look at the interior. The way I see it, if businesses are selling good quality or high priced items, they have the money to either employ a cleaning service, or their employees should be paid enough to take pride in the establishment and keep it clean. Cleanliness speaks volumes to me. There was dust accumulation on the exterior of the freezer case and the upper areas of the walls, dusty spiderwebs in the windows and several items on the stainless countertop behind the long freezer case that did not belong there where food was going to be prepared or packaged. It was then that I decided I wouldn't be ordering anything. My fiancee couldn't get over the high prices and did not order, and the friends we were with who had been there before said they'd never seen it like that before (perhaps because March is "off-season" and they had been there in summertime?) and all of us left without purchasing a single item. To be perfectly honest, we went to Stauffer's of Kissel Hill and purchased 3 bags of clams, a few freshly prepared ready-to-eat items made in front of us, lobster tails, smoked salmon, two pints of soup and clam strips from their clean, attractive seafood department for the party we were having. Overall, the people were nice at Mr. Bill's, but the prices were outrageous and the store wasn't very well kept, selection was poor and not "fresh". I really wanted to like this place... they have nothing but seafood, after all! but unfortunately I will not return. read more

Great customer service!! We are not seafood people at all and are trying to introduce our 12 month old to seafood. Chris at the Central Market has been so helpful. I have been going to Mr. Bills for crabs for several years and the crabs have been decent for getting crabs in Lancaster County, but this time it was awful! I ordered a dozen crabs and normally they throw in a few extras or some more claws but 75% of the crabs had missing claws and no extra claws were in the bag. Most of the crabs were completely hollow and mushy. I counted two full crabs out of the twelve (or ten if you counted the size and that most were missing legs that had the whole body in tact. Very disappointed and looking for new crabs spots this summer if anyone can recommend. I am a huge blue crab lover! read more

You call to ask a question if they have crabs available so we don't have to drive the hour to get there...they pick up, put you on hold and never bother to come back to the phone.....they used to have good service years ago...we will stick with Crab Crazy. read more

The new fat crab cafe (part of Mr. Bills) was not as good as I thought it would be. Ordered a fresh fish sandwich with blackened fish. Looked good and at first it tasted good. But then the second bite was terrible. When I looked at what I had bitten into, I saw that the fish was raw. Took it back and pointed this out. They didn't say anything, just threw it back on the grill with other people's fish for about five minutes. I think that's probably a violation of health safety rules and makes me wonder what else they do. Roll was OK but very cold. Chips had a sugary taste. read more

First and foremost I must tell you that I am no stranger to "FINE SEAFOOD". I was born July 1939 and I have fished, Crabbed and hunted all of my life so I know what good quality seafood is all about. This is not the first encounter with the famous Mr Bill's Seafood. My son knows that his Dad likes Oysters on the half shell so for Father's Day he went to Mr Bill's Seafood and purchased one dozen Oysters in the shell. I had over my lifetime shucked bushel's of Oysters and I can hold up to any change when it comes to shucking Oysters. My son told me that he gave $18.00 dollars for dozen Oysters which I thought was a crime.When I opened the bag of Oysters I was absolutely blown away, in all of my years I can with honesty say I had never saw such small Oysters. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I could fit all of those very, very small Oysters in two tablespoons. Mr Bill's should be ashamed to rob the public this way. The only thing that I can say in favor of this Seafood store is these tiny Oysters were fresh, will I buy there in the future? You have got to be kidding, not a chance in a million. I just want to know where they got these tiny Oysters from. When I am in Virginia I buy oysters by the gallon from Gary's seafood in Chicotigue, now this is a great place to buy Seafood from. To say that I was not happy with the present that my son gave to me for Father's Day is an understatement, I was thrilled with his discussion to give me something that he knew I liked. I cannot stress more that Mr Bill's Seafood IS A PURE JOKE! I cannot be objective about Mr. Bill's. I have been buying my blue crabs from Tim & the gang for over 20 years. Absolutely the best, and the staff is fantastic, especially under busy conditions. If you live in Lancaster County and don't buy your fresh seafood here, you are missing something! read more

BEST SEAFOOD IN TOWN! Have been coming here for crabs since I was a little girl. Now I go with my husband and kids to get crabs here. Always fresh, alittle pricey but it's worth it. Love this place! read more
