Japanese katsu curry item was in the rice plate category--there was no rice. Thinnest curry sauce if any. Potatoes were not cooked through. Hard. Katsu wasn't that bad but it's a katsu curry rice plate that had no rice and terrible curry. Szechuan spicy chicken. Sauce was so thin. Bland. Barely tasted anything but steamed chicken. No spice at all. Pork fried rice was just rice with a splash of soy. Maybe a nugget of pork fat. No flavor, no onion or anything to give it an ounce of food flavor. Terrible food tonight. Wish I had ordered a tv dinner over this meal. No one was trying tonight for their 9pm take out crowd. Crab Rangoon was just okay. Sadly the better part of the disappointing meal. Mr Chan's is located in East Milton Square & is the only Asian Fusion/Americanized Chinese restaurant Milton has to offer. Very popular spot for take out! I ordered off their dinner special menu, which let's you choose one appetizer, choice of rice (white, brown for $1, & pork fried rice, and either pork, beef, chicken, vegetarian, and shrimp entree options. They also have an option to get any two appetizers w/ choice of rice, which was what I ordered. Personally, I was never too fond of eating from Mr Chan's. I found that their food is very bland and very pricey for what it is + what you get. Pork fried rice looked like it was fried with soy sauce? but yet lacked flavor... & char siu pork was also flavorless. Crab rangoons did not have much for filling and was kind of sad, unfortunately. Beef teriyaki was edible but could definitely be better. Food is inconsistent, some days it is okay and other days it is inedible. Verdict: Overall, if you are craving Chinese take out, and are local, I can see this being a convenient place to go. However, if you are looking for the best Chinese take out spot in the area, there are definitely better that you can find within five minutes driving in Quincy. The staff is really nice here though and very clean inside the restaurant. Parking: Can be difficult to snag a spot depending on the time of day. Milton doesn't have many restaurants, so I dislike having to write a bad review for one of them. Unfortunately, my last encounter with them was so obnoxious that I feel compelled to. While the location is good and the décor looks nice, we wrote off Mr. Chan's food a while ago due to poor taste and quality (check out other reviews). We should've stuck with our decision not to go back, but I caved to an overwhelming craving for American Chinese food and ordered a takeout from Mr. Chan's. I should have just driven out to one of the million better places in Quincy. We ordered several items including lo mein. When we opened the lo mein box at home, the food was COVERED in little black pieces of burnt food or metal. I don't understand how they didn't see this. They must not clean the wok for a long time. We called the restaurant to inform them of it and asked for a refund as the lo mein was inedible. They agreed to refund the lo mein so we figured the issue to be resolved. They called my wife the next day and said that they refunded her twice so she must give them her credit card number so they can re-charge the lo main ($12). My wife had to look at the credit card statement and found that the payments were pending. She told them that the payments are pending so she won't be giving them her credit card information until the payments clear. They called back the next two days asking for $12 back so my wife had to keep checking her credit card statement. When the payments cleared, my wife drove to Mr. Chan's and gave them $12 in cash and asked them to not call her again. The fact that I am taking the time to write this review, my wife having to answer daily calls, my wife having to look at her credit card statements several times, and she drove to the restaurant to give them $12 is an awful way to waste everyone's time for inedible lo mein they messed up. Please do yourself a favor and go to another place. At best, you'll get subpar Chinese food. At worst, you'll get food poisoning or daily calls from Mr. Chan's. read more

I love good Chinese food - having eaten it for more than 4 decades. This wasn't good, in fact it was barely edible. Everything was just dumped together in the box, the pork fried rice was dry, the beef teriyaki was tough, and don't even get me started on the General Gau's Chicken. The only decent item was the crab rangoons. I ordered through a delivery app, the driver was very good, wish I could say the same about my meal. We placed an order for delivery at Mr Chan's from Milton Hospital. As hospital workers our time is very tight as we are working with patients . We placed order @ 11:30 for delivery at noon. By 12:10 we called establishment about status of order and were reassured that order was on way. I was really looking forward to the crab rangoons and it was missing from my order. Mr. Chans is a nice lil surprise. With all the options for Chinese food in the area Mr. Chans night just be my new go-to place for my area. I only use it for takeout, the decor is nice but tables needed a nice lil wash down. Chicken was good and juicy, lobster sauce was nice with some huge shrimp inside. The portions were kinda small but I would definitely reckoned this place for the Quincy area. The funny thing but maybe good thing about this place is that almost the entire staff was sitting behind the counter eating dinner together so that usually a good sign that the food is decent. It took a couple of times to get it right, but third time was the charm!!!! Shrimp Chow Foon with extra vegetables and extra scallion and egg rolls. I season at home with chili's in oil, soy sauce, and the spicy Chinese mustard. Slicing the crispy egg roll down the middle allows for a nice drizzle of soy sauce, hot mustard and duck sauce. I use kitchen scissors and cut the large shrimp into thirds which makes for more yummy bites. The first two times I got it there were baby shrimp so make sure you make it clear that you are anticipating what the owner expects, the large shrimp. read more

3/26/2021 How disappointed I was to eat at Mr. Chan's in Milton MA again after some years. I use to live in Dorchester, so that was my spot for going to get great Chinese food. Not any more. It has been years, so it could be new management, new owners or a new Chef. My mother mentioned that she hadn't had ribs on the bone. That no Chinese place she went to had them. I remembered Mr. Chans's, so I drove to meet her with my girls for dinner. Take out, but we hadn't seen each other with COVID looming, so off of Boston we go. We got back home, opened our food up and wasn't impressed. Then we ate. The General Tso's chicken was too hard to eat. I didn't take a picture of my Egg Foo Young. My mother in I love it. We both felt that it had no taste. It was watered down tasting and that doesn't make sense. The gravy didn't help it. My family of four and my Mother all agreed that we will never eat there again. Food was cold. the rice was dark and also the boneless rib, tasted like it was old food. it definitely not fresh as advertised making it daily. I will never order again first and last. We used to purchase and enjoy food from Mr. Chan. The food, service, everything went downhill when they redesigned the restaurant. Food is old, reheated, dry, and for some reason the rice taste like it was cooked in soapy water. I read the reviews, even the reviews Not Recommended, and noted that several reviews were removed because they went against the 'rules'. The majority of the reviews were very poor (of course no idea about the reviews removed for content but one could imagine that those weren't removed because of high praise) any ways they read the same ... and not good. I don't know if it was Mr. Chans or Grub Hub that messed up my recent order so bad. I ordered online and was given a 55 - 75 minute window which is fine due to the current COVID situation. Instructions were to text or call me and leave the food in the lobby. Well 95 minutes after the order I hadn't received the food so I went down to the lobby to check and there was my food. However it had to have been sitting there for quite some time as the food was barely lukewarm. They charged $2.99 for delivery and I put in a good size tip that I now wish I could take back.
