I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. I called in my order they told me it would be ready in 7 minutes. I got there 15 minutes later, paid, and was told about 10 minutes and it would be ready. I waited 20 more minutes watched several customers come and go. Listened to the staff talk about personal issues. Just when I was fed up and was going up to the counter to find out where my order was they noticed a order sitting off to the side. Come to find out it was my order. Had been sitting for around 30 minutes by this time. The employee tried to tell me that the order was fresh. I opened it and everything was soggy. I told her it's not fresh, she proceeded to try to convince me that it was when I had been looking at the same order since I came in. I asked her if they could remake the order and she again told me that it was fresh. I wouldn't normally care except that I was picking up dinner for a elderly friend. I ended up getting seriously angry and simply said that I will never enter that dump again. I went to my friend and told them about what happened and they said that they are never going to order from them again. All I can say is it's sad that such a landmark is going downhill. read more

A good place for fried chicken / fish. I had fried chicken and fried ocean perch, both are excellent and fairly large portion. Chicken is very tender. Fish is moist and tender. The sides are decent too. While some people may like it, the coating is a bit too think for my liking. Service is very charming, and prompt. Price is reasonable too. Will be back. read more

If you feel like visiting a diner from yesteryears, Mr. Chicken is the place to be. I felt as if I stepped back into the southern 1960s, with the home-y/grandma's dining room feel... and I loved that. Our "drinks" hostess was an absolute doll, she was so nice and really made us feel welcomed. Our food hostess was super sweet too, and other staff members passed by and said hello to our baby or the kids. Lemme tell you, this was the best customer service experience I have ever come across. The food might not be 4 star gourmet, but the service was beyond 4 stars at this little restaurant. As for the food, it went right along with that country old fashioned feel. I seriously think my grandma had same dishes they serve with! We had the appetizer that includes all the fried stuff , which included zucchini and cauliflower. Nothing special but still good. I order clam chowder and yes, it tasted like it came out of a can but that's okay because I like canned clam chowder! The chicken tenders were standard and yummy, the fried cod was moist and really good (and I wish dinner came with more of it!) and ooooooh the chicken. I mean, I know the place is called Mr. Chicken for a reason, but I didn't expect the chicken to be that good. I really don't like chicken on the bone to be honest but the chicken breast was sooooooo good! It was super moist and flavorful throughout, not just the skin, which rocked BTW. Bottom line: The chicken rules, the rest is good in a kitschy sort of way, and the staff are AWESOME. I would go back just for the atmosphere and great hostesses! Truth be told I've never eaten inside however, I have carried out many many many times. The food is delicious!!!! The chicken is good, the cole slaw is splendid and the roasted potatoes are amazing. The cole slaw is incredible it's finely chopped and has the right amount of cream. The broasted potatoes are also great still have the potato skin on them. If my family has a BBQ or a get together it can be pretty much guaranteed there will be cole slaw and broasted potatoes. read more

The chicken is excellent! The best broasted chicken I've ever tried. It's always flavorful and juicy. Theirs is the only cole slaw I will even eat more than just a little taste of. I could even say I love their cole slaw. Two tips: order a side of Ranch dressing. It is the best Ranch around. I dip my fries and chicken in it, or make a lil chicken sandwich with Ranch on the bread they give when you dine in. And if you're getting your food to-go, poke holes in your styrofoam box of fries to let the steam out. Great chicken. How on earth are there this many reviews and no one is saying how bad the fries are? If you have to slip them up with ranch that does not mean it is a good fry! We served this delicious chicken at our Wedding reception 29 years ago. It is still my favorite, not greasy and spiced just right. My husband and I just came back from Mr Chicken. A place that we both remember being the best broasted chicken anywhere. My husband worked right around the corner and take out was a regular weekly treat for him and his coworkers. Since he has retired it's a little far out of our way, but he thought today he would treat me after I got off work. Wow, what a difference from two years ago, the food was cold and the wings were the size of a fifty cent piece. What happened to the hot juicey chicken that melted your styrofoam before you even made it home. When we asked the waitress she replyed that it all depends on what they send us. Sorry, but as a business person myself if Sherwood or whoever you get your product from ever sent me this kind of product it would be rejected at the back door. I truly understand how hard it is to run an independent business, but you just can't be inconsistent or you fail. Good luck to you and I hope you'll take my advice. Mr. Chicken is one of those small, family owned establishments that are also one of the local area's best kept secrets. Tthe restaurant doesn't look like anything spectacular outside, or even once you walk through the doors. They don't have an extensive menu either. Chicken, ribs, shrimp, salad, slaw; the usual. But don't let the unexceptional appearance fool you. You won't find better chicken anywhere. The sides are really good as well, but as their name implies, chicken is what they do best. I can't speak for any of their other entrees because, in all honesty, when I'm at Mr. Chicken, I have to get their chicken; there is no other option. If you're in the vicinity, you should check them out. Even if there's some place closer to you, make the extra drive and get the chicken at Mr. Chicken. You won't be disappointed. read more

customer service on my carry out order was so deplorable and inconsiderate that I feel the need to share the experience. I ordered (and paid in full) for a white meat chicken and shrimp dinner that would include 2 pieces of chicken, 4 shrimp, and fries. They serve it to you in a bag that's folded shut and stapled with the receipt. I got all the way back to work before I realized there wasn't any chicken, just 4 cocktail sized shrimp and a handful of fries-so I called right away and let then know. they apologized, took down my name, and said they'd take care of me next time I came in. a week later i show up and to my dismay, all they wanted to give me was the chicken they'd left out. no fries. no drink. nothing "extra." they were actually on the defense out the gate, as if I'd done something wrong by not coming back up there. i asked to speak to the manager because my argument was simple: you guys owe me for the inconvenience of a second trip. and you owe me for the inconvenience of eating a $10 meal that was 50% missing. and you owe me for being a returning customer. But the server and the manager were adamant that all they owed me was a breast and a wing and rudely proceeded to help the next customer in line. so, there you have it. no I don't have anything bad to say about the food but as far as I'm concerned, I feel strongly enough to dissuade anyone from patronizing them. I know what's fair and what's not, and as far as I'm concerned, they have no respect for their carryout customers. read more

I have gotten take out from here many times but I find the chicken pretty bland and the cole slaw is a sloppy mess...ground to a fine paste. I like the steak fries though they are usually soft and thick rather than crisp like fries. The staff is nice and the service is fast. I just wish for a bit more flavor. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Their chicken is the best. If you went to an expensive restaurant and ordered chicken, it would not be as good as Mr Chicken. It is always served hot and you never have to wait for a seat or for your order. It is great to take out if you are having a dinner or a picnic. Call ahead and it will be ready when you get there. They also have good soup, which apparently changes daily. The ribs are also very good and fall off the bone. The prices are amazingly reasonable. I usually do not care for cole slaw but I like the slaw at Mr Chicken. Their onion rings are awesome. I have not tried the other items on the menu. If you like chicken, you will not regret going here! Oh, another nice touch is that they give you those pre moistened towelettes to clean your fingers when you are done. Give them a try! read more

Tried this place for the first time...most likely will be the last time. The name is "Mr. Chicken", but I opted for the ribs...big mistake. They handed me my carry-out bag, and it felt heavy. I'm thinking "all right! Lots of vittles!". Actually, most of the weight turned out to be cold, soggy fries. Short version: Mushy fries, mushy coleslaw, mushy 'average' ribs. When I'm 80, I may come back to this place, simply because it's the only food I'll be able to chew. Want good ribs, potatoes and coleslaw? Go to BoneYard. Good Broasted Chicken Pieces are a bit small but delicous . Very casual restaurant daily specials I believe mon and thurs they have chicken dinner specials. Broasted Potatos are good and if you get onion rings as a side you get a lot. Cole slaw is Best I have had. This is a place that "Our Older generation goes". dining room is simple Ribs are Baby backs and I highly recommend the chicken and rib combo. Dine in if you decide to try them because nothing beats chicken right out of the broaster. Even the wing dings are Great, Can't say anything negative about this place.
