This Red Lobster in Dearborn Heights was a destination for birthday shenanigans to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We dined with a party of eight. Please note a couple things: 1) your party needs to all be present to be seated, 2) your party can only have a maximum three checks per dining party, and 3) the expected tip is at least 20%. I recommend that large parties have cash to pay the bill and not expect separate checks. Our server, Jerry/Jermaine, was very cool. He told us about The Ultimate Spend Less Shrimp Special. I was the only one in my party that ordered it and everyone regretted not ordering it too. The Ultimate Spend Less Shrimp $15.99 special includes: Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Linguine Alfredo, Popcorn Shrimp & Chesapeake Fries. It was a lot of food for $16. Screaming: Winner! Winner! My husband and I go there on a regular basis. I'm enjoying the "new" menu options as well as some old favorites like shrimp scampi. The portions are good, and we typically have enough to get carry out containers. I love the wait staff at the Southgate, Michigan location that takes the time to assist the customers with choices of menu items. I had the lobsterfest boil and it was cooked perfectly. I usually expect the quality to be subpar from my experience from other locations but this was not the case at this location. First off I would like to thank Ashell for being a super awesome waitress. She did her best to accommodate us with everything we asked for. Now on to the bar staff, she was very slow and social. We ordered drinks that took over 20 minutes to be made mind u, it's like 9 people in the entire restaurant. Our waitress alerted the manager about our wait after we cancelled the second round of drinks. The manger comes out asking how the service was and she was a terrible person. Yesterday a co-worker and I decided to go to this Red Lobster and we were offered a table as I walked in the door basically. The manager was out there amongst her staff and y'all she was supporting her staff as well. The staff looked like they were working. Everyone seemed pleasant and professional. We had a very sweet waitress and she answered questions, made sure we were good. She checked on us numerous times. And just overall great service. The drinks and food was delicious. The server was nice, it's just the entire dining experience continues to be lack luster at Red Lobster from its hey days. They have gotten rid of salad all together as a side for seafood entrees, which is sad and a bummer. The time before this visit I learned Red Lobster stopped purchasing cucumber and tomatoes when they still served salad. The presentation a plating is uneventful to me, especially since I've been eating here over 30 years. I go for the nostalgia, but k can def prepare my own seafood much better or dine elsewhere. This Dearborn heights location was just no, smh. I dined in yesterday, quiet ambiance, not busy, ordered 3 meals, one for myself, 1 for my husband and son Togo. I asked for my salmon bowl and steak entree to be topped with crab and the waitress said she couldn't do it. So I ate my meal, and when I got to my husband he was about to eat, he cut into his medium well steak and it was not cooked correctly, too much pink. I called and was put on hold for almost 10mins by the manager Dena. I called back and the manager apologized and said she was free now. I explained her the issue and she asked would I be able to return today, I said no I'm on my way to work but I can tomorrow. She said she can remake the steak but to bring the steak he didn't eat there tomorrow. I had never heard of that but I agreed, I guess this location has a different policy, so I took it out the trash and boxed it back up. I asked her to remake the whole order. She asked, you want the whole order remade, I said yes for my inconvenience, the steak wasn't cooked properly and now I have to travel back up there, she agreed. I also asked about the crab add on, she said it can be added to anything, then she said after placing me on hold that it's only certain dishes. She then said I couldn't get it on my steak/lobster combo because it was the daily special and I would have to order a diff steak. Then she said I could've gotten it if I told the server right then and there that I wanted it added as placing my order which I did, long story short she confused me with the you can add it you can't add it as she sounded confused herself but she said she would add it when I pick it up today. She also told me that she would arrive at 12 but would have a meeting from 12-2, and said she would see me tomorrow (my opinion) insinuating that I have to go directly with her for the meal replacement, I asked her if she can let another manager or the staff know about my issue because Idk when I would be there so she took my name and number and said she would. The garlic butter sauce is simply butter with an excessive amount of garlic that more than likely is minced garlic from a jar. The lack of seasoning, consistency in flavor let me know that none of the items were cooked together. Simply tagging a title on a dish doesn't make genuine. This was thee worst experience I have ever had at this location. First we arrived for a party of 6 for my mother's 73rd birthday and was told we had to sit at 2 booths at the bar area. This time we visited on a Monday, which happens to be Endless Shrimp night - hubby's favorite. It actually was pretty packed for a Monday night; it took about 5 minutes for the host to clean up a table for us, but everyone was friendly. The place looked like it had a rough day - dirty floors, etc. but we did come at the end of the night. Our server was ok, but to be fair, she was really busy. All the staff appeared to be working hard. It took awhile to get waters and silverware, and the time in between our next shrimp plates was really drawn out. At one point, we were sitting with empty plates for a good 5-7 minutes, though we always ordered our next round as the last was dropped. We only received one set of 4 biscuits, which is fine, but they usually bring at lest one more basket. The lobsteritas weren't as strong this time - looks like we may need to stick to Sundays if we return. We had a hard time with our gift card this time as well - those pay-at-the-table screens rarely work. I do want to say that the food was very good. Everything came out hot, fresh and crispy on hot plates, so the kitchen staff definitely knows what they're doing. With prices the way they are, honestly, it's a pretty decent seafood meal at a decent price. You can find much better service and food that may be more inventive elsewhere, but it will cost double the price of Red Lobster. We did a takeaway from Red Lobster during COVID-19. The app was super easy to use for placing our order. Upon arrival for pick up there was a couple people in the lobby all practicing social distancing. The young man behind the takeout counter was very friendly and quite busy checking in orders and packing food. I haven't had Red Lobster in a few years so this was a nice surprise. The only thing that I didn't care for was the Langostino and shrimp dip. The portion was a bit small and it was pretty bland. Everything else was good.
