Beijing chicken from 2025 to 2026.
    Shannon N.

Mr. Chow, what happened??? From May of 2025 (Las Vegas visit before they closed) to March 2026 , my go-to dish has changed not only in appearance, but also obviously in flavor. The Beijing chicken used to have some sort of 'red bean sauce', something I hesitated to try until I gave in years ago, and this has been my absolute favorite since. Tax refund came through so I placed an order to go on March 25th. When I opened the bag, the food clearly appeared different (see photo for comparison), something that set it apart from before was that red color. Sesame seeds were added to the candied walnuts (which I didn't mind), but this was a completely different entree. The new menu now says 'tender chicken with a hint of Beijing spices'. Truthfully if this was my first time eating this version, I would have probably liked it but since I knew its 'previous incarnation', I am really disappointed in the change of recipe. Mr. Chow has so many dishes people return for over the years, myself included. Why would you change one of your classics???

Mr Chow's Water Dumplings, Dressed Dungeness Crab, Vermicelli with Lobster, Nine Seasons Prawns were delicious. An elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.

Loved the bartender, Matt. I went there once months ago and unsure how even remembered me but it made me feel extremely welcome. The food was good and the service was good, overall. The only downer was that there were two separate couples that were sat next to us and they apparently knew the staff very well and were extremely welcomed. They came far later than us but all of their food was rushed out, which showed us we were clearly less important. Once they were all fed, our food came out lol it was not a big deal bc my friend n I were having a good time but it was just amusing to watch the difference in speed. Their lychee martini was to die for.

I was invited to a private after party for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for OutKast and it was here. They laid it out for the party. Of course the food was great! I have been here before but this was catered. So many delicious dishes! We were met with drinks upon entering. The amazing staff continuously brought food out all night. Even desserts! This was my first time going to Mr Chows for a private event. I absolutely loved the hospitality. Music was on point. Lighting was dimmed low for ambiance. I would say this probably was one of the best parties of the year with the best food and drinks. Thank you Mr Chows for hosting a truly unforgettable night.

Pros- Lovely decor Exceptional wait staff Very attentive Great food presentation Very tasty food They accommodate all food allergies brilliantly Cons- Musty order Was hoping for glass noodles vs. fideos for Vermicelli w/lobster Tables and chair need an upgrade- Pricey- but that comes with zip code

The service was beyond wonderful. The staff made the dinner even better than it was. We ordered champagne and cocktails, both were delicious. The Mr chow noodles were super flavorful. The noodles are made fresh in from of you. The glazed prawns are a MUST. I could've done without the chicken, but the fiery beef was amazing I could've gotten 2 of those! The pear dessert sounded questionable, but ended up being incredible. Served warm with vanilla ice cream! Music choice was also a 10/10.

Incredible service, sensational food and an iconic institution all around. From start to finish, there isn't better upscale Chinese but be prepared to splurge. It's all about the duck, hand pulled noodles, squab and prawns in my opinion! You must try a lychee martini as well.

The fact that I've been coming to Mr. Chow's since a kid and the quality and taste remains the same. I haven't been here in a couple years and I decided to come here for dine LA experience and of course the regular menu lol.. Options were really good. I ordered the Spare ribs for first course, Beijing chicken my second course, and for your side, they gave you shrimp fried rice, and mix vegetables, which was so good. Everything was very good, what we ordered. They also have many cocktails and mocktails to choose from! I ordered the 1739 sidecar, which was very delicious!! The service is phenomenal from the valet until when you entered to be seated and all the people who help you out it's many servers and busybody that help you, and they're very efficient and always come and check on your table and clean off your table, which is a plus for me . The ambiance is so pretty and the decor, and very elegant and classy and upscale vibes. They have private rooms for parties, and two sides that you can dine on. This place is definitely good for celebrations, which my family had many parties here and my friends. Also, it could be good for date night or I would say pretty much any type of occasion. It's pretty much only valet parking unless you want to do street parking but I am not sure how that goes. I don't want to take it so I never risk it but if you do park valet is $20. Overall, I highly recommend Mr. Chow's!! the ambiance is great, the food quality, and exceptional customer service!! -Marshay D.

I have been going here for over 15 years and this place never disappoints. The food is always hot and fresh and made to order. Great quality ingredients with flavor. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is beautiful with nice trendy decor. Note:Only thing I don't like is that the table seating's are very close and not enough room. You are very close to other people's table.

My friends always raved about Mr. Chow--one used to eat here three times a week! I had never been, so I decided to check it out on a late Saturday night (they're open until midnight ), and I'm officially converted. Kicking things off was the shrimp fried rice, which was perfect--light, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The chicken satay was on a whole other level: juicy, tender, and that peanut sauce? Unreal. Then came "The Gambae"--crispy fried seaweed that was totally addictive. I could eat a whole bowl of it solo. The glazed shrimp with candied pecans were absolutely divine--rich, sweet, and perfectly cooked. We also had the shrimp toast, which was crispy, savory, and everything you'd hope it would be. And the spicy sauce? My friend warned me since I'm sensitive to heat, but it hit just right--a quick fiery kick followed by a smooth, mellow finish. Chef's kiss. Every dish was a flavor journey. Generous portions, thoughtful presentation, and the kind of layered taste you only get when chefs really know their craft. The staff was incredibly attentive and made us feel like royalty. Yes, it's on the pricier side--but honestly? Totally worth it. I'm now a die-hard fan. This place is more than just dinner--it's an experience. Highly, highly recommend. #MrChowMagic #BeverlyHillsEats #FineDiningWithFlavor #SeafoodGoals #ShrimpLoversUnite #CrispyCravings #FoodieFaves #LuxuryEats #WorthTheSplurge #GourmetLife #LateNightLuxury #HiddenGemBH #FlavorsToRemember #BeverlyHillsDining #YelpEliteEats #ModernChineseCuisine #LegendaryDining #BeverlyHills

I've been going to Mr. Chow with my husband for over 15 years, and it's still my absolute favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. The food is always incredible, the staff is fantastic, and the atmosphere is truly one of a kind. You never know who you might see there, which makes every visit a little extra exciting. It's a classic LA spot that never disappoints!

Had a beautiful night with colleagues networking and going over some final details for our upcoming series. The food, as always, very good very tasty with the best ingredients & again, rose water finger bowl plated to the T in fine China. Service was amazing and on point with their menu and pairing drinks with each course and dessert. I highly recommend Mr Chow Beverly Hills where the food fills your soul and the price hits your wallet in the right spot.

We had a good experience here. The food was pretty good and some items I've never had it prepared that way. The customer service and ambiance was 5. It is definitely the most expensive Chinese food I've ever had and I didn't put this weight in my review. The only item we didn't care for was one of the chicken dishes. Everything was good.

Epic, epicurean, sybaritic Cantonese/Hong Kong Banquet marking over 40 years of Joss was presided…read moreover by the ever congenial, worldly, sophisticated owner, Cecile Tang. This event will be remembered in our mind, heart, and especially by our stomach. I was very fortunate in receiving notice of the last seating at Joss in the form of private, reserved banquets in September 2026. Joss had previously closed to the public at the end of August. 8 courses were most ample, and generosity was evident in the use of luxurious ingredients and elaborate culinary techniques. 1) Wu Gok: Fried Taro dumpling (Chinese: 芋角) covered in an airy, lacy, crispy batter. The mashed starchy, naturally sweet Taro root hides a soft oyster. Lightly smashed, crunchy, salted cucumber, dark cloud ear mushrooms are dressed in subtle, sweetened rice vinegar dressing similar to Japanese Su no Mono salad. Accompanied by whole red Thai chile and a slice of garlic clove. 2) Roast Squab: Small pigeon like bird slow baked to golden brown to retain succulence with pleasant scent of 5 spice where star anise added licorice aromatics. Possibly crushed red table pepper & touch of powdered Sichuan pepper in the salt blend provided along with a wedge of lemon for adding gastrique. Small nubs of dark, brown, squab meat was lightly sautéed with finely chopped bright green asparagus in butter lettuce leaf cups. Crunchy, thick rice chips for textural contrast. 3) Winter Melon 8 Precious Broth: Served in its own whole melon tureen after being cleared of its "meat". Shrimp, pillowy bay scallops, chunks of soft, juicy Winter Melon, diced earthy Shītakè mushroom, ham were some of the ingredients in soy sauce darkened chicken broth. 4) Maine Lobster Aberdeen over Braised Noodle with Lobster Jus Naturel: Whole scarlet lobster shell is placed over al dente thin pasta looking like squiggly Linguine. And barely steamed chunks of lobster that may have been coated in egg white & corn starch, then flash sautéed to seal in moistness for a plush velvety surface and fibrous, meaty, sweet interior. All the above are tossed in a concentrated lobster shell based broth along with medicinal ginger, chiffonade of scallions, toasty, aromatic sesame oil. Some will say this is a highly sophisticated, "royal" version of Lobster Cantonese. 5) Crisped California Red Snapper with Lychi Sweet & Sour Sauce: Whole fish lightly battered with possibly corn starch-wheat flour for extra crispness of the skin. The frying of the fish in light, clean oil gives the fish meat an ethereal, airy texture. Then a fruity, lychee, oyster sauce based, vinegar acidic sauce is applied garnished with sautéed green, yellow, red bellpeppers. 6) Joss Peking Duck: May be the signature Chinese duck dish in all of California if not the U.S. The special involved method leaves the skin, especially the legs, with a lacquered, shiny, lustrous glow. The crispy skin exudes a sweet, lush fattiness that is tamed by the extra earthy, sweet, heavy, viscosity of the fermented soy bean Hoisin/"plum sauce". The duck meat is lean, toned, moist for different effect. All the above can be placed in a taut, stretchy, ultra thin, leathery wheat crêpe slathered with Hoisin dressed with julienned watery cucumber and chiffonade of scallions. 1-6a) Chrysanthemum Tea paired well with the Chinese Banquet cuisine. The earthy, spicy, floral tones were ideal. Dessert: 7) Steamed Chocolate Pudding Cake is chocolatey, ultra plush, touch sweet, moist in a pool of dark chocolate sauce. 8) Fresh Coconut Frappé: Young, tender coconut meat, coconut water, possibly condensed milk seems blended and chilled to make a refreshing, frothy, aerosol-like whip cream texture. Garnished with mint leaves. What an incredible repast "by Executive chef Golo Kwokson Yu who joined the kitchen in 1988, training under master chef Lao Ying Chieh before taking over as Chef de Cuisine in 1993." Bravo to his culinary prowess! So privileged to have the last supper. Wishing Ms. Tang, Chef de Cuisine Yu, and the friendly, cordial staff the best, happy, good fortune. 5+++ stars!!!

One of the best appetizers I've ever had: Eggplant Chips Crisp slices of Asian eggplant topped with savory diced Yu Shiang eggplant. Their upscale take on brown rice was pretty wonderful: Heirloom Multigrains Unprocessed heirloom multigrains cooked in a clay pot to heighten its natural aroma. THE BAD Aside from the two dishes mentioned above, we found the other entrees to be unremarkable. Service was also unremarkable. One overworked waiter was handling the entire dining room, so service was not swift. Took 10 minutes 'til the brown rice equivalent I ordered finally appeared--and I had to remind him to bring it. I asked for an iced tea. He said he'd check to see if it was available. Never got back to me about it. The waiter had not a shred of warmth or personality.
