Slowest service I've experienced in a long time. I understand they had a large table to manage, but waiting 30 minutes for a bland cucumber salad was surprising. The food was equally disappointing. The steak was overly fatty and chewy and not rendered properly, I honestly questioned whether it was actually wagyu. The chow mein came with only four small pieces of meat, which felt unreasonable for the price. For a place positioning itself as upscale Chinese dining, the food felt bland and uninspired. I'd rather go to a local family-owned Chinese restaurant than spend $350 on mediocre food and poor service. To be fair, the manager was very nice and genuinely tried to turn things around with complimentary food and drinks, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience couldn't be salvaged. Was looking forward to 88 Club as I am a fan of Chef Mei Lin. I'm not sure if she still has an affiliation with the restaurant. The atmosphere is dark and moody, but still very lively. The restaurant filled up very quickly. The servers were friendly, but the wait was painstakingly slow, with extended waits between courses. We started with the sesame prawn toast, which was followed by the Wagyu chow mein 25 minutes later. These two courses were the most enjoyable to me. The prawn toast was flavorful and crispy. These hot mustard mixed with the sweet sour sauce complimented the dish well. The chow mein was nostalgic, reminding me of the chow mein I grew up with using the thinner egg noodles. The tender pieces of Wagyu made it even better. After another 25 min wait, we received the sweet and sour fish and fish fragrant eggplant side dish. The battered and fried fish was overcooked and the amount of sweet sour sauce was so negligible, that it barely helped to offset the dryness of the fish. We were very disappointed as this is also a nostalgic dish that I was looking forward to. I love myself a good dish that includes fish sauce, but the sauce on the eggplant was so overpowering and salty that I had to try to mask it with the undercooked white rice. Normally, I'm a sucker for dessert and take home leftovers for the next day, but i knew I would never eat what I had left, and dessert seemed like it would be a crap shoot. For the price point, this was very disappointing. I can get a much better meal from a restaurant in the SGV for 1/3 of the price and double the portions. The manager did acknowledge that the food was taking too long to come out, so I did appreciate his forthrightness. If it was just the service being slow, I would have increased my rating. But, the food was not up to par especially for such an upscale restaurant. read more

I know Mei Lin is no longer consulting for them but her menu has some real winners. I had the good fortune to be treated here on expense account. The Sesame Prawn Toast is delicious, the best version of this I've had. You only get 3 pieces per order but it's still worth it. The cha sui iberico pork was also great, very tender. The crudo was good and refreshing. The only thing that was underwhelming was the wontons. The waiter raved about it, they were fine but not $32 good. We were very full so the mango coconut sago was a refreshing dessert. 88 Club is very swanky and very pricey so YMMV but I would go back for the Sesame Prawn Toast cha sui iberico pork. read more

I often find that "elevated" Asian cuisine often loses a lot of the important authentic elements in an effort to create said elevated experience, but this wasn't the case here. The flavors of all the dishes we tried were very on point and it was just really impressive how they were able to transform home style dishes into a fancier version. I LOVED the jasmine tea cream puffs, amazing amount of jasmine tea flavor was infused in the custard filling. Service was lovely, as was the ambiance. From the moment you walk through the doors at 88 Club, you're made to feel genuinely welcome. The space is effortlessly stylish, with cozy wall-length booth seating and rich dark curtains that create such a warm, intimate atmosphere. The music was set at the perfect volume--just enough to have us humming along while we made our way through four incredible dishes and a few glasses of wine. We started with the "skinny egg rolls," dubbed so as they are long and skinny. They arw perfectly crisp and light, giving lumpia vibes without feeling heavy or oily. Next were the wontons--I could smell the ginger before they even reached the table, and they absolutely delivered. Adding a spoonful of the homemade chili oil, packed with herbs and spices, took them to another level. Then came the noodles: thin, delicate, and full of flavor, topped with beautifully seasoned beef that tasted as though it had just come off the grill. At that point, we could have happily stopped--but the team highly recommended the pork entrée, and I'm so glad we trusted them. Every bite was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a beautifully seasoned crust, served with just the right touch of mustard to bring everything together. We cleaned the plate without hesitation. To finish, we shared the mango dessert, and it was the perfect ending. Sweet without being overpowering, every element--from the mango to the coconut and cream--shone through, with a subtle savory note that balanced it all beautifully. What truly made the evening unforgettable was the service. The staff were attentive without ever hovering, checking in at just the right moments, and the managers' thoughtful table touches made us feel cared for. This lovely building which houses the 88 Club is smart and hip, but doesn't hold a candle to the decor inside. Let me put it this way: Even the cutlery and dishes were stylish. This one dish spun me like a top - Wow! Obviously food this elegant comes at a price; and this dinner did. This review is for the bar at 88 Club as we only had drinks and did not dine there. Both the dining room and the bar area are sultry and swanky. There's a beautiful large picture of 3 tigers on the wall that is the centerpiece of the dining room. The wine list is interesting, and I chose a very crisp white from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The bartender Michelle was super nice and explained how the land is that area is all volcanic rock, and holes must be dug in order to reach the soil and plant the vines. The martinis were also good and were served in a coupe glass. I would return again and try dinner as the menu looked interesting, although quite expensive. read more

This is a cozy restaurant. I think it has about 22 tables. Perfect for a date night. But the noise level tend to go high when it is full. Bathroom was nice and clean. However, they have a motion light that starts at low and I had to crank it up because I can see much inside. I wasn't sure about the lock. Friendly and engaging staff. They made sure that we got a good experience. Food was phenomenal! This is the showcase. All the recommendations were spot on presentation and well seasoned. Cocktails were unique and refreshing. We were debating to order more to take home. But we thought it will not be the same. The only one we did get to-go was the desert (Jasmine Milk Tea Custard Bun). Read about this place in one of those magazines you find in the area. This place was mentioned in the Montecito magazine. We've probably passed by it numerous times and had no clue it's there. After 6pm, parking seems to be a little easier to come by in Beverly Hills. We parked in one of the lots that's normally paid by machine but after 6pm it's free. The place isn't huge but it doesn't feel cramped and it's nice and cozy. There's a bar area and seating area for dining in. The decor is nice and feels like a lounge with Asian flair. The bartender was very nice and helpful, as they have plenty of mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as a nice assortment of freshly brewed hot teas. Their menu is unique and we got there for last call for food so will definitely check out the food next time as it looked really good and had a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well. I got the jasmine pearl tea, which was a nice, smooth, and floral green tea. The seating area in the bar section was very comfortable. The staff provided excellent service and were very welcoming and helpful to the menu. We saw groups with friends, and dates so it can be an atmosphere for both. They also had a good selection of hip hop and r&b playing. Parking: meters in the area, as well as affordable city-run lots. I was really excited to try 88 Club! Our party of two came in for dinner during the week. The space is dark, cozy, and intimate -- smaller than it looks from the outside. We ordered several dishes to share: Sesame Prawn Toast, Rice Cakes, Eggplant, Cha Siu Iberico Pork, and Hiramasa Crudo. The Iberico Pork was the highlight -- super flavorful and tender. The Prawn Toast and Rice Cakes were also delicious; you can tell they use fresh ingredients and put care into the details. The Crudo was fine but nothing special. The Eggplant, though, was a miss for me -- it had a strange aftertaste and was a bit too salty. I'd love to see it served over rice or noodles for better balance. I was eager to try this newish upscale Chinese restaurant because I've seen chef/owner Mei Lin on multiple Food Network shows. The restaurant is on Santa Monica Blvd almost at Wilshire. There's public parking behind, free after 6pm. The signage is small--a silver plaque and a door mat with the restaurant's name. The metal railing is emblazoned with the stylized Chinese character for wealth. Inside, the smallish dining room is dimly lit with dark walls; the Lazy Susans on the 4-tops are marble. There's a pink marble bar on the opposite side of the host stand. The relatively short menu offers mostly familiar Chinese dishes, elevated. And with elevated Beverly Hills prices. A must order, and my favourite dish of the meal, was the Sesame Prawn Toast, visually beautiful and absolutely delicious. There were 3 rectangular slices of pain de mie toast with a prawn filling that still had some texture, each topped with black and white sesame seeds and 2 dollops of hot mustard aioli and sweet and sour sauce. You are advised to smear everything all together. The hot mustard hardly registered as hot/spicy, more of a mustard-tinged aioli. Three orders of these ($38 each) would make a fine meal. The Prawn and Bamboo Shoot Wontons were fine, folded into hat-shaped circles. However, I was expecting much more flavour from the broth called Chicken Master Stock. The Nam Yu (fermented red bean curd) Roasted Chicken was half a chicken cut into 4 pieces. It arrives with a coffee-coloured sheen not unlike a Peking duck, but the skin is not crispy, it has been marinated in the Nam Yu for a deeply savory flavour. The chicken was very moist, and the mild ginger-scallion relish to spoon over it was fine. It's also topped with a lot of greens, mostly overpowered by cilantro, which easily overpowers everything. My veg of choice was the 3 Cup Crispy Maitake, tempura battered and fried maitake mushrooms with a 3 cup sauce that was very potent and made even more so with greens and the omnipotent cilantro. I found myself liking the un-sauced pieces more. My dessert was a nice Mango Coconut Sago (tapioca) with grapefruit, a refreshing lighter finish to a somewhat heavy meal. Overall a tasty but pricey meal. I'd certainly order the prawn toast again, but there are other noodle dishes, mains, veggies and desserts I'd like to try. read more

Food is good but this place is quite overpriced. I'm Chinese and grew up in Hong Kong so definitely had some expectations coming in. And while the food was delicious, it wasn't mind blowing. Shrimp toast was probably my favorite! Cha siu is a close second, but it certainly should NOT cost $88. You can get juicier ones for less than $8 in Hong Kong. But anyways, secretive entrance and modern extravagant vibe. Staff are very friendly and professional. Portions are of good size too. Cute bar area. I went to a Lunar New Year party at 88 Club last month and had a wonderful evening, courtesy of UTA and Gold House, who rented the place out. The restaurant was small and attractive, the design scheme modern with some Asian art on the walls. I don't know what the vibe is like on a normal night, but it was a fun spot for a party for like 50 to 80 people. Great service, both during cocktail hour and the seated dinner. It started at the bar, which was in its own area and felt crowded very quickly. The bartenders were nice and made me a negroni at the beginning of the night. I switched to wine after that and drank whatever kind came my way, all good. The food was delicious, contemporary Chinese with lots of big flavors. There were hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour, crispy battered maitake mushrooms and pork and prawn egg rolls with sweet chili sauce, if memory serves. Both lovely and easy enough to eat while standing. The first course brought three of my favorite dishes of the night. The cucumber and woodear salad was just right, vinegary and refreshing with crunchy cucumber and chewy mushroom in a soy vinaigrette, topped with plenty of bright herbs. The kanpachi crudo brought quality sashimi with kumquat, kohlrabi, and citrus soy. Then there was the prawn toast, which must be a house signature. Crispy, shrimpy, and supremely Instagrammable, dotted with hot mustard aioli and sweet and sour sauce. We had rice and noodles for our second course. The XO fried rice cakes were hearty and satisfying, stir fried with gai lan and garlic chives. The wagyu beef chow mein was a decadent version of a Chinese takeout classic, chewy noodles with tri tip, bean sprouts, and alliums. Fancy and comforting at the same time. For the third course, we got mapo tofu and sweet and sour fish, both excellent. The mapo tofu came with king oyster mushrooms, fava beans, and bamboo shoots, the sweet and sour fish with pineapple and peppers. I would never have picked the sweet and sour fish if I were ordering on my own--it's battered and fried fish in sauce, which does not appeal to me in the abstract--but it was superb. We also got a side of charred hot and sour cabbage, definitely my kind of vegetable. There were jasmine milk tea custard buns for dessert, and though I thought I was full, I found enough room to wolf down my fair share. As of mid 2025 this is a new Chinese restaurant from Chef Mei Lin and co. Service style is classic family style with an elevated feel from the ingredients/flavors/ techniques to the level of service here. The space is darker with an intimate vibe. This place works great for a nice night out or meeting up with a group of friends to experience delicious elevated Chinese food. The cocktails were tasty as well. Came here as a part of a group of six people, so we got to order a good amount and share a lot of the dishes. The place isn't cheap, but with a good sized group, it didn't feel like a bad deal either, especially for the quality and service. What we ordered: - Chrysanthemum Salad - a nice refreshing salad with a more solid texture as far as salads go - Sesame Prawn Toast - so tasty. I think this is a must if you like prawns and serves as a great appetizer. - Prawn & Bamboo Shoot Wontons - delicious dumplings. - Charred Hot & Sour Cabbage - Mapo Tofu - has that slight numbing spice effect, but not overly spicy. I'm a fan. - Sweet & Sour Fish - there was a little pomp and circumstance when served (they pour over the sauce in front of you. The restaurant has very limited tables/seating, so it's really important you make a reservation. The service was impeccable. Chef Mei Lin's take on Chinese cuisine that is elevated by paying homage to classic dishes. My favorite dish of the night was the Nam Yu Roasted Chicken. The way it was cooked reminded me of duck and it was so juicy and tender in a velvety sauce full of flavor. Made a reservation to celebrate a birthday for a Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Huge fan of Me Lin ever since her season on Top Chef. There's a parking structure (Rox San on N Roxbury Drive) that has stairs that come up next to the restaurant and is free after 6pm. We were greeted warmly by a hostess who immediately acknowledged the special occasion. Our server did the same. One thing that bothered me was that he asked if I wanted still or sparkling water to which I answered still. He then asked bottled? And not knowing if there was an alternative, I said yes. He then brought over a bottle of Saratoga spring water and it was then I realized that I would be paying for water. To be fair, I don't have much experience with upscale dining and assumed only sparkling water would require payment. I do wish he had stated that house/tap water was an option as later in the meal, our glasses were filled with non-bottled water. We asked the server how much food he would recommend for a party of two. He suggested 2 starters (essentially on the left side of the menu), and entree, and a vegetable dish. We ended up ordering the sesame prawn toast ($38), wagyu beef chow mein ($36), nam yu roasted chicken ($52) and 3 cup crispy maitakes ($26). We opted to have the starters (toast and chow mein) first and then the chicken and maitakes together. We felt this was a nice flow to the meal and the pace of dishes was thoughtful. Dessert was the jasmine milk tea custard buns ($20). Prawn toast (4/5). It came with a dollop of hot mustard sauce and sweet and sour on each piece. We were told to mix the sauces together before eating. . My friend made a comment that upon mixing the sauces, she was reminded of In N Out sauce. While I didn't get that exact reminder, I could see what she meant. The toast was covered half with black sesame seeds and half with white sesame. Fried nicely and full of chopped up shrimp. It reminds me of the Chinese fried crab claws at banquets. $38 for 3 pieces was a bit more than I would pay for the dish. Not sure I would get it again. Beef chow mein (3/5): Lower rating of this dish because of the price point. I love chow mein and I was curious how this would compare to traditional Hong Kong soy sauce chow mein. In summary, it was very similar which is both good and bad. Good for taste, bad for price. When the dish arrived, we were immediately hit with the wok hei smell and were super excited. The chow mein noodles are thin and chewy, just like the ones used in cha chaan tang soy sauce chow mein. The inclusion of mung bean sprouts and green onions completed it. The beef was tender and sliced like traditional preparation. It did remind me of beef that had been tenderized using baking soda though. The problem with the dish being so similar to the traditional dish is that while delicious, it makes the price point of this chow mein absurd. The inclusion of wagyu beef definitely drives the price of the dish up. Not to discredit the quality of ingredients but I think you could cook a similar dish at home. Nam yu chicken (5/5): This was the highlight of the dinner. The chicken was cut into quarters and was so incredibly tender. The ginger scallion sauce was also amazing. One critique I have is that the dish came with a knife that wasn't serrated, which made cutting into the meat difficult. The nam yu sauce on the skin made it a bit sticky and hard for the knife to penetrate. We gave up trying to cut the meat up and decided each of us would get 1 piece of dark meat and 1 piece of light. This could be problematic if you have a larger group. It would have been better to remove the bones from the chicken and slice it into pieces like Cantonese bbq but I can understand the aesthetics of keeping the pieces in quarters. All that aside, I would order this again. 3 cup crispy maitake (4/5): The maitakes were fried nicely and there were 5 pieces total. The 3 cup sauce was spread on the bottom of the plate. Wasn't a big fan of the sauce (a tad salty and the wine taste was a bit overpowering). Would opt for a different vegetable dish next time. We were stuffed but wanted to try the jasmine milk tea custard buns. The buns came in a set of 3 and a candle on top as a birthday acknowledgement. The textural contrast of the crispy coating of the bun (reminiscent of almond cookies) and the fragrant cold jasmine cream was incredible. The jasmine cream was more cream-like than custard. The buns were not too sweet and a perfect ending to a meal. 5/5! I would come back but I do have a few hesitations. Service was great (water refills, check-ins, swapping of clean plates and utensils) apart from the water snafu. Atmosphere was nice and not stuffy. Food was tasty but some dishes were definitely overpriced. At $100 a person, I was a little surprised that dessert wasn't comp'd for a special occasion but I won't begrudge them that. Open for just two weeks, chef Mei Lin already establishes a confident menu rooted in classic Chinese flavors. Every dish we ordered was excellent: the chrysanthemum salad was nutty and flavorful, the hiramasa crudo + garlic chives was fresh and bright, and the Iberico pork char siu was definitely a standout (though price is on the steep side). The only miss was the fried rice, which felt a bit neutral compared to the rest of the menu. For dessert, we had the mango sago and the jasmine tea custard bun - a perfect finish to our meal. Had a wonderful birthday celebration at 88C. Just about everything exceeded our expectations. Been eating exceptional Chinese food my whole life ranging from the best hawkers to Michelin rated fine dining restaurants and yet I was still impressed by the innovative flavor, quality and texture of their modern Chinese cuisine. I couldn't believe something as simple as wood ear and cucumber salad can be presented in refreshingly new way without drifting far from its classic flavor. Same can be said about the tofu skin salad. The other dishes that left the strongest impressions were the Nam Yu Chicken, sesame prawn toasts, sweet and sour fish and fish fragrant eggplant. The dishes that fell short were the Chasiu Iberico Pork and Wagyu chowmein. While the meat quality was exceptional, I felt the overall experience didn't justify the premium charged and frankly a bit gimmicky and unnecessary. I've had chasiu and chowmein in many Cantonese restaurants at a fraction of the price that were juicier, more tender and more satisfying. This is the only reason I didn't give a 5 star review. However I still highly recommend 88C if you want a truly exceptional dining experience that will liven up your senses in a tastefully designed dining room. read more

Think a mini Providence. "Hey Mom, they shrunk my fave resto." There is a six seat Bar which anchors the dining room and small two tops line the walls giving it an Orient Express dining car feel. The decor is elegant, sophisticated in a retro style. The Chinese elite would be regulars here before WW2. So, iron your Cheongsam and be a regular now. 88 is a lucky number in Chinese culture. This place will soon be so hot you'll be lucky to snag a table. The distant throb of a sensible loop adds to the hip vibe without being intrusive. The Staff: The Hostee was as sweet as Milk Tea and she will greet and seat you quickly. The Servers would be at home in service to The Emperor without being obsequious sycophants. Austin was a polished expert in genuine hospitality. Humorous and helpful. Can't decide, sit back, hand the menu to Austin and let him curate a magnificent meal for you. The Bar: Full of promise. Signature cocktails that aren't full of themselves. No Periodic Table ingredients. There is a deep wine list. I hope you have a deep pocket. First off, I enjoyed a frisky Whiskey Sour with Bourbon, Hibiscus Aperitif, Ceylon Tea and Orange Blossom Honey. My Internist might even approve of this. No matter, I did. Next, my Mai Tai was balanced and not the cloying sweet thin syrup in less capable hands. So, Mai Tai one on. Who's in the house? Mei Lin lackeys. Beverly Hillians and a sprinkle of smart diners who want all the signature creations before that special 88 dish is 86 by 7:00. The Food: In the shade of Nightshade which broke my diner's heart when Covid drew the night shade closed. 88 Club offers Northern Chinese food with a touch of Hong Kong in it's heyday , Singaporean, (Newton Circus chic), a little K-Chow and anything else Chef Mei Lin and her confident, playful, serious team can and will create. Note: Want a cup of plain White Rice? $7. Want a small cup of Chili Crisp? $4. Either smuggle in a jar of FlybyJing and pay the Crispige fee, do without or just suck it up and be a player. This is a pricey place to start with so why not raise the cost of each dish by a buck and offer Rice and Chili for free? Just sayin'. The Shrimp Toast lands on every table. This version elevates whatever shows up on a Mah Jjong Buffet. This plate turns "Fair Food" into a magisterial experience. This is Toast Texas Toast stuffed with ground Prawn, deep fried greaseless and crisp enough to loosen the Bridge you're still making payments on. It's topped with a Hersey Kiss of Sweet and Sour Sauce on one end and sinus clearing Horseradish Mustard Aioli on the other end. Not to be missed by rational adults. The Rice Cakes are soft little flat pillows of wannabe Gnocchi with threads of Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli), and Garlic Chives. Often such a dish is basically nothing more than a plug of savory Double Bubble Gum. Not here. Reach for the Chili Crisp and enjoy the gentle chew. The Fish Fragrant Eggplant wasn't remotely fishy. It was terrific. Eggplant Fingers with charred crispy edges, and a creamy Eggplanty center. This dish alone warrants a quick return trip here while my 88 luck holds. Nam Yu Roasted Chicken with Ginger, Scallion Oil Relish and Soy arrived next. Succulent and moist the Chicken gives similar offerings around town the Bird. Do not fail to order this beast. It transforms something potentially forgettable into something memorable. The Iberico Char Siu Pork with Hot Mustard. (The kind that showed up as a dot in a cup of Ketchup when your peeps took you to the local Chinese joint as a kid and ordered a doughy Eggroll). The Pork was fanned out on the plate and was so delicious that God would wink and smile at any Orthodox Rabbi who surreptitiously ate it all. Finally, full as a Tic, I asked for the Mango Coconut, Sago (pearls of starch from the pith of a Sago Palm) and Pomelo. Delcious chinese food with a condensed menu with many options for these who are pescatarian/vegetarian. Service is great. Bar is beautiful. Take advantage of the parking in the back. Reservations are recommended. Did not get one bad dish. Portions are as expected while the pricing is higher but that is also expected given the quality nad ambiance.. The type of Chinese restaurant you would go on a romantic date night. The chili oil is also delicious. Tried out 88 Club and overall it was a solid experience with a few trade-offs. The atmosphere and ambiance are great--definitely a lively spot--and the service matched that energy. Staff was attentive and kept things moving, which I appreciated. That said, at times it felt a bit more like a cafeteria than a sit-down restaurant, especially considering the price point. It's on the expensive side for what you get, so expectations were a little higher. The pork was the standout--easily the best part of the meal and worth trying if you go. First time going today! A bit early for reservations so we waited at the bar area, which was comfortable with good vibes. The ambiance throughout the whole restaurant was great really. Loved the playlist too! Restaurant is small, intimate, and packed, so reservations are a must. Beautiful decor and comfortable seating. Service was friendly. We ordered the Pork & Prawn Egg Rolls, Singaporean Chow Mein, and Mapo Tofu. We definitely tasted the five spice in all dishes, but expected it. Drinks were yummy. What a fun little "hidden" Chinese gem in Beverly Hills. Dark, moody with fun music in the background and excellent food. Loved the prawn toast, the rice cakes, the skirt steak and the chow mein. I wanted to like the cabbage more but it fell a little flat. And the crudo was good but the slices a bit thick. But overall solid spot. The bar is a cute little enclave to grab a drink as you wait (even with a res) as the place is tiny but totally worth the wait! read more

Finally tried 88club in Beverly Hills, a decadent take on Chinese cuisine. Dishes in order were the shrimp toast, kanpachi crudo, chicken and bamboo dumplings, fried maitake mushrooms, Iberico char siu, and kung pao scallops. Best dishes of the night were the shrimp toast and the char siu. Kanpachi crudo was also great but I thought they could've used bigger slices of kanpachi. Fried maitake was surprisingly good with crunchy exterior and soft inside but on the saltier side with their spicy sauce. Kung pao scallop had great flavor but could've been saucier so the scallop could absorb some of the flavor. Chicken and bamboo dumpling just tasted like chicken broth. Unpictured is the amazing black sesame ice cream which was so nutty with a bit of salt or something to bring out the flavor. Glad I got to try but definitely think it's overpriced for what it is. About $350 before tip for all this and two hot teas. read more

Came for opening weekend. The ambiance was moody and intimate, great for dates and exploring new places to dine. Mynor and Young G were sweet and provided excellent service. The drinks we had: Margarita, gimlet, and old fashioned. The Gimlet was my favorite. The glassware had sexy curves and the stem of the gimlet was extra long, I loved the glassware. Everything was delicious: the Chrysanthemum salad, the cucumber and woodear mushroom salad, the wonton soup, the shrimp toast, and the jasmine tea puffs for dessert are must gets. Such a dang vibe! I was lucky to snag a res for opening night primetime. Everything from the music to the space to the food was on point. My servers name was Brian? Asian guy and he was very knowledgeable with the entire menu and walked us through what would be just the right amount of food for my party to not leave hungry or too full considering we wanted to order the whole menu. Our favorite dishes were for sure the shrimp toast, the sweet and sour whole fish and the eggplant. We also really liked the rice cakes with XO sauce along with the fried rice. The fried rice was very tasty and refreshing since it had a lot of greens in it. For drinks, we all started with a cocktail from their signature cocktail menu. I had the 88 martini and I absolutely loved it. Was a nice switch up from a traditional one. My wife had the spritz which said also loved. Our friends had some of their Pinot by the glass which they said was good as well. Food and drink aside, we loved the dark rich interiors and the old school music that was playing. So when you walk into 88 Club, you may think you just walked into a speakeasy, dark cool and hip. But in reality a small upscale modern Chinese restaurant with a cool vibe. Once seated, the impeccable service starts. I've visited a few times, the high level of attention has been consistent at each visit. The house cocktails are classically nostalgic and imperfectly crafted. Now for the food. I'm ashamed so say, I've eaten most of the menu, but in my defense. The menu is quite small, but so well thought out, it's really hard not wanting to try everything. That said, and I don't say this lightly. I've never had a bad dish, or even one, I just didn't care for, ever at 88 Club. It's really that good. But I'll hit my highlights. To start, jelly noodle, so good with a bit of spice, Chrysanthemum salad, different and flavorful and lastly Hiramasa Crudo fresh and tasty. Let's move on to my go to, prawn toast no words can describe the pleasure. You can easily crush a dozen. The dumplings and noodles can't make a bad decision, wontons the rice cakes or the chow mein are all exceptional, but the mains are why I keep coming back. I love the Kung Pao scallops, probably a bit underrated but so unique and unforgettable even though the sweet-and-sour fish and the roasted chicken, I bet are a little more popular. But the dish I literally dream about it is the Cha Siu Iberico Pork with hot mustard. I don't know what they do, I don't care this is the perfect dish hands down, I will get this dish every time I dine here for eternity. You'll need some veggies to cut the richness of the mains. The chard, hot and sour cabbage and the fragrant eggplant are two delicious suggestions. Now you can't sleep on dessert either, just get the Jasmine milk, tea, custard bun, you can thank me later. If you want to treat yourself and your people to a perfectly exceptional dining experience, I can highly recommend 88 club or just go for dinner, like I do. You'll be happy you did. read more

What a great surprise! Exerting about our dinner was Beyond A+. First - ALL the people were super well trained and delightful - 100\% OG the team gets an A+. Ambience cozy - but just enough energy to make it fun. Ok - the food, ridiculous. I'd call it a mix between tradition and a modern elegant take Asian. This place was phenomenal. One of the best meals I've ever had. My gf and I came in and ordered a few dishes to share. We had the crudo and dumplings which I highly recommend.
