Very confusing signage! No idea why it's mama Lu outside but the capital seafood is greyed out on the sign. It says 一口福 on the outside but anyway, our entire group had to ensure we were not in the wrong place. Service is fantastic! They are very attentive and very helpful. Bonus points if you can speak Chinese, the employees were much friendlier and made lots of recommendations but may not have otherwise. The dim sum was tasty, and the green bean and eggplant were also classic. I loved the XO noodles and they were a crowd favorite. Our group notified me about allergies and the staff were very quick to double check, specify precisely, and arrange the dishes to help us know which dishes were off limits for the guests with allergies. I would be interested to come back with a bigger and hungrier group to try more of the menu, especially the fish! We'll be back! read more

A pretty authentic Chinese Restaurant in the middle of Beverly Hills adjacent, I believe it's actually a branch of SGV - so you know it's good. Nicely decorated - lots of room - tables are far enough apart and service is courteous and friendly - catering to the BH crowd..... and having said that, prices a bit much for Chinese food, but food is really good, and fresh. Roasted duck was so juicy. We ordered a bunch of dimsum which were all good, fried rice was yummy, scallop in wine sauce and also their desserts of egg custard and sesame rice ball with red bean paste. I was so hungry. Rebranded as Mama Lu's about a month ago, this restaurant serves Chinese/Taiwanese fare ranging from your classic beef rolls and beef show fun and XLB to some dim sum on weekends. It's very much the same as how Capital Seafood used to be ranging from how they cool their food and how their servers are uniformed even if menus are branded as Mama Lu's. Ambience is a nice, with white table cloth tables. Food itself is not as flavorful as what you'd find in SGV but you certainly save the drive and time in traffic. Delicious Dim Sum in BH, this place pleasantly surprised me. Came in with low expectations because there's not a wide variety of good Chinese restaurants on the West Side but this place blew my mind. All the dishes were good except for the fried squid - it was too salty for my liking. However, the place is clean and the service is good. The flavors for each dish were well-balanced and authentic, the XO rice paper rolls were my favorite followed by the bok choy steamed in broth. The broth was aromatic and flavorful. The place is clean and the service is excellent. We were immediately seated, as we arrived early. The four of us wanted a larger table and they were happy to accommodate us. Love the round tables with the lazy Susan's. We started out with dim sum (see pictures) and they were yummy. The fried squid with salt and pepper was so good. Crispy and light breading, and the squid was tender and delicious. The honey walnut shrimp was also lightly breaded and crispy and made with large tasty prawns. But the best dish was the Peking duck. OMG The skin was crispy and full of flavor and the duck was moist and tender. This restaurant makes it the best way, and I highly recommend you get it! Capital Seafood is situated in the heart of Beverly Hills Restaurant Row. It has prominent signage that you won't miss if you were driving down la Cienega. The dim sum here boasts fresh ingredients with the most succulent taste. Everything here was exquisite. My favorite will always have to be the shrimp har gow. I have been to other Capital locations, including Irvine and Monterey Park. In terms of price, I don't see a real price difference due to the location. There are other dim sum places nearby that charge way higher. Capital definitely beats their price point by an arm and a leg. read more

My only negative was of the chicken dishes had bones so that's a turn off. Love Capital Seafood but this was our first time at this location, and it was packed. The food was delicious as always. We got the shu mai, har gow, fried rice, bao, pan fried dumplings, and custard buns. We were a walk in on a holiday, which made the wait over an hour. I highly recommend making a reservation or getting there at opening. The waiters were very nice even though they admitted they overbooked the restaurant. One of our dishes took a really long time so they comped us a pork bun for waiting. The ambiance was beautiful and would absolutely go again (with a reservation). read more

Unfortunately such a letdown. Main driving factor for this review is the quality of the food. Have come here multiple times and continued to give them chances due to the proximity compared to SGV restaurants. It's just such a letdown, improperly prepared food. Everything we had was over steamed to the point of falling apart. Noodles were very greasy and tasted like burnt oil. We have a family tradition that whenever we visit our relatives in Los Angeles, we will start and end our visit with meals at a Chinese restaurant. Our recent stay ended on New Year's Eve, and our late afternoon return flight set us up for either driving to San Gabriel Valley or lazying around at this more conveniently located outpost in Beverly Hills. During our stay, my BIL's friend requested to order Phoenix Claws or chicken feet dim sum as it's a dish he enjoys. Still, he patiently waited to join us since we're the only other two people he knows who would want that dish with him, and he knows the flavors and textures of Capital Seafood well. Because this New Year's Eve fell on a Saturday, we expected Capital Seafood to be busy with groups of family or friend get-togethers, so we arrived as soon as they opened their doors at 10 AM. There were others ahead and behind us, so we didn't feel like we were scratching at the entrance to get in. A friendly hostess seated our group with menus (Holiday, Beverage, Dim Sum, and Dinner). A server quickly came by to take our tea request, and we chose oolong since it's what most of our group drinks, even though I prefer black pu'erh or bolei tea. My BIL asked if we wanted Taiwan beers to pair with the dim sum and noodles that we were about to order, but we laughingly said it was too early for us to be drinking beer. We ordered the following : war won ton soup; beef pan fried noodles; tofu ; 1/2 order Peking duck; stir fried pea leaf with garlic ; garlic pepper salted pork chops. I recommend all of them ! Each were delicious and flavorful . Please note : with the 1/2 order of Peking duck make sure you ask for the plum sauce and buns. Unfortunately, no traditional dim sum carts (I think they got rid of them at most restaurants post COVID), but it's ok since the food is made-to-order thus piping hot :) Everything we tried was delicious, from traditional har gow, shui mai, and chinese broccoli w/ oyster sauce, to even the new dishes we chose like the sticky rice shrimp dumplings & the almond cream with puff pastry! We stopped by the Capital Dim Sum in Beverly Hills two days after Christmas after our university trip at UCSB. The place is similar to the one in Irvine. Although the parking here was cramped being it's situated downtown. The customer service was nice and they got us seated immediately. The interior was clean and the ambiance gave the feel of a classy atmosphere. It was lavishly decorated combined with low lighting to set the mood. Stopped in here because traffic report said 2 hours home. Early on a Wednesday, nobody here. A little concerned I took a seat with my Dad and hoped for the best. It's mid-week after all... Service was excellent! Henry was our server and he was great! He was super patient and went through everything for us. Sure the place was empty but it's evident that they really care. And the food was even better! Wonton soup had the perfect amount of pepper, and a nice blend of unique wontons, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. Soup dumplings also excellent! The honey prawns were terrific and the rice was some of the best fried rice I've ever had! Best part was the tea! Must be a secret recipe.... Sorry I didn't take pics of the food, was too hungry. But the tea presentation in the cast iron pot and the lovely dishes are attached. When we left at 7, the place started filling in with guests.... Not bad for a Wednesday! Omg! I love Japanese food, so we just happened upon this place because we had an hour before an event in a Beverly Hills and decided to stop in. We sat at the bar and had appetizers and drinks. I had the lychee martini and it was DELICIOUS! The seaweed salad was the best I've had in a long time, and look at the DimSum appetizer!!!! Wow! It's not only beautiful, but so delicious.
