Mr. Corn beef on an onion roll with extra swiss cheese and mustard.

Heard about this particular spot all the way in South Carolina, so this was the first stop on the list upon my return to the Motor City. The food was amazing, it truly lived up to the hype. It will now be a mandatory stop on my list whenever I'm back in the city. I highly recommend the Mr. Corn beef with swiss cheese on an onion roll with extra cheese

Reuben w/ chips and drink, I added those myself. Sandwich is a tasty treat for lunch.

I pass here on my way to the bus stop. On a good day I'll grab a sandwich for lunch. The service sucks s awesome and the food is great also! Keep up the great service.

This was the worst corned beef sandwich i've ever had in my life ! The meat didn't have any flavor and texture felt like rubber.

I didn't know they served beer and wine, which was nice to have with your sandwich. I wanted to try the Muffaletta. I brought my own gluten-free bread bun and the other person with me ordered the same sandwich but with the bread; and they truly enjoyed it as well. My only issue with the sandwich is that the Portella mushrooms took away from it, rather than enhancing the flavor. Overall, good experience, decent service, I will definitely be back to try more items off the menu and check out their shop.

When the order is ready, they call your name and bring it to you in a simple brown bag. There isn't a lot of seating so we get our food and go to a park to eat. I love this place!

I can't believe the place is still here after all of these years. The Italian Subs at Gonella's are ordered according to how many layers it builds up (which I think is a unique concept). These layered Gonella Italian Subs are layered with a variety of Italian meats (Hard Salami, Salami Cotto, Mortadella, Smoked Ham and Capicola), provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & Gonella's homemade dressing. Soft sub buns, tons of stacks of meat, lettuce and tomato or not. No one goes hungry after a sub here. Some deli spots tend to skimp on the protein, but not this place. My team members favorite is the Italian, 6 stacks. I usually will go for a turkey or chicken stack. They offer up to 18 stacks, haven't tried that yet.

They have exceptional meats and a terrific cole slaw. Portions are usually on the large side. However, today's sandwich was a bit skimpy, by comparison. This is also dessert central. Due to trying a sample of their pretzel, I ended buying a bag. An $8 bag!!! It was perfectly crunchy and buttery and very good! I don't even like pretzels and these impressed me. Also got a $9 bag of only 5 palmier cookies. They were good but definitely a splurge. BF bought a small bottle of balsamic vinegar for $23, like wut?! I eyed a jar of salsa for $28 and jam for $16 but damn, everything was way above even farmer's market prices. The sandwiches start at $18 for a small and go to $24 for a large. BF and I got the chicken avocado on challah bread and a new crunchy pickle. Zingerman's does a good job with their pickles! Skins were a little too hard but I love that they're not overly pickled and still crunchy and not too much other seasoning. For $21, the sandwich was not very big and they don't include chips or fries. If I lived closer, heck yes I would come here pretty often to try a sample and buy a very expensive baked good. I appreciated the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was giving Trader Joe's employee energy! Parking was a little tricky but not impossible. We came with locals so they knew what was up.

Don't eat here. No one in there right mind would pay $20 for a simple sandwich. It's 4 ingredients, they got upset with me when I was politely confused due to the price.. a simple sandwich doesn't cost $20. There is no reason a sandwich with two slices of bread, some sandwich meat, bottled Russian dressing, and two slices of cheese would cost anywhere over $8... I have been patronizing this restaurant for over 12 years. I have a feeling that they are taking advantage of their long standing position in this community, a loyal customer base, and customers not understanding pricing of beef.. 6 slices of corn beef is about $3, two slices of rye bread is $0.50, two slices of Swiss cheese is $0.20, a spread of Russian dressing is $0.05.... And they will charge you $20 for a sandwich..... this is awful, disloyal, and advantageous. Don't go here, find another place for lunch that respects hard working people trying to get a decent sandwich. Their food is great, but no intelligent person is paying $20 for a sandwich. It's almost laughable if it wasn't so disrespectful.
