I cannot get over what an amazing experience this was. First off, the service was exceptional! I love the small mom and pop feel of the place. It's tucked away in a strip mall and inside it feels like it hasn't changed in 40 years. They serve Oddly Correct Coffee which is always good. They serve a nice firm sweet cake donut that is solid. That's usually my go-to. But here, the yeast donuts are so special. The maple-glazed yeast donut is perfect. So doughy and sweet but with a nice light firmness when you bite in. The Apple fritter is very dense and full of flavor. They offer a small discount for using cash. The people are super friendly and accommodating and I can't wait to return. read more

I am not the biggest cake donut fan, but their donuts are delicious and fresh. I need to go back to try more, but their blueberry donuts were so good. Probably one of the best I have had. Now, they're selling MOCHI donuts which were SO GOOD. If you don't know what mochi is, it's a chewy rice cake. Now in a donut with flavor! I really liked the cinnamon sugar one, strawberry and taro flavors. The funnel cake wasn't my favorite, but I'm also not the biggest fan in general of funnel cake. The customer service here is phenomenal. This donut shop is family owned since 1975. The shop still has the old-fashioned vibe and is super busy in the mornings. They treat everyone like family and tries to accommodate their customers' busy schedules. I had a box of donuts ordered and originally they had asked if I could come in at a time, I couldn't at first because of work so they accommodated to my schedule even though that would be their peak busy time. They usually run out pretty quickly in the mornings so I would open a morning to go and get yummy donuts and coffee :) lately, they have come to the Overland Park Farmers market and collabed with different local coffee shops to serve their customers the best combination of delicious donuts and great coffee. read more

I loveee Mr. D's Donuts! It was my first time trying them for National Donut Day and I experienced the best tasting Chocolate Iced Donut of my life. The donuts dough was out of this world. It had a slight crunch to it but was super fluffy. I have never experienced that and didn't know that I needed it in my life. The cinnamon twist was huge and had great cinnamon flavor on the inside. My advice is if you go, you gotta get there EARLY. The line was out of the door and I understand why. They have pretty speedy service so the line is nothing to worry about. I think I found my new favorite donut shop. Now I'll start by saying I didn't go to their store. They were a vendor at the Overland Park Farmers Market. These were some of the softest donuts I ever had. The 2 standouts were the apple and pineapple fritters. The apple had tons of chunks you can see & taste, perfect blend of cinnamon and spices with just enough glaze on top. The pineapple put you in the mind of a pineapple upside down cake. Again nice chunks of tender pineapple, with dough being flavored with pineapple juice and nice touch of toasted coconut on top with glaze. Definitely will be a visitor to their store and see more of the variety they have. read more

The mochi donuts are incredible!! Ube (purple yam) was my favorite, it was more spongey/moist out of the other flavors. The chocolate icing in the mocha flavor overpowered the donut for me, I couldn't taste any coffee. Service is fast & friendly. Will definitely be back. Loved it! Grabbed a dozen for my colleagues, when we were working over the weekend! They all loved the donuts! A little out of the way for me (from home), but is on my way to work, which actually works better, since the 5 am-noon timing for me can only work on a work day!! This place, man... I've visited 4 times, and each time nearly an hour before closing. You know what I find? 1 donut, and not a fun one. They run out every time I go there. Open for an hour still - no donuts. Just close at 11, or make more donuts and throw some away at night. Whats a donut cost to make? .12 cents? 100 left over donuts costs you 12 bucks!?! It's not hard to do, just ramp up production. I would have bought 15 dollars worth of donuts each time I came in, but you got nothing. I literally turned away 5 additional customers in the parking lot when I let them know you were out of donuts already, on 2 separate occasions. You make donuts for a living, so make donuts for a living. I don't get it. What's worse is that they're kind of like, "what do you want?" every time I go in. You sell things that give people heart attacks - you sell donuts, a happy thing. Why be bothered? You know what I used to do for money? I built the road and hot cracked and seal coated the parking lot Mr. D's uses to sell out of donuts every day. Years ago I stood in the hot sun fixing the parking lot of that place, and shoveled asphalt on the street there that people use to get all the donuts I never get. That job sucked. You sell donuts. Be nice. I show up to give you blood sweat and tear money I earned to buy your donuts, and I get screw you face? It's a bummer. Be happy. OMGGGG I got a free donut from Cafe Ca Phe and it was sooo good, I asked her were it was from and she said Mr. D's!!! So we went that weekend and bought a bunch of donuts, they're all good, our fave is just the plain glazed! It's the dough they use, it's thick and soft and fluffy. The customer service is great here, I was in a hurry once, called in my order when I was about 5 mins away, they had everything ready for me and I was back on the highway within minutes. Great tasting donuts. I was surprised at how light and airy the yeast donuts were, I'm used to more denser donuts but really liked how they made theirs as it wasnt too filling. Also liked that this is an AAPI owned donut shop! Wish they had their mochi donuts at this location though as it's easier navigating to than the farmers market location. I don't usually indulge in donuts but considering I'm spending the summer of 2020 pregnant with my first child during a global pandemic, I've decided to make some exceptions. Mr. D's had some of the best reviews in the area and I really wanted to support local so for Mother's day we placed our first order a couple months ago. Their order process (text message or Facebook messenger) is extremely convenient and keeps you from having to get up at the crack of dawn on a weekend just to get the donuts you want. Since that first trip we've been back twice and will definitely be returning several more times before this baby arrives in October. Also, looking forward to starting a weekend donut run tradition when our little girl is big enough! My usual favorites are the chocolate raised and chocolate long johns. I've gotten one of each every time and they do not disappoint! Their sugar cake and cinnamon cake donuts are also delicious and moist. The chocolate twist has become a new favorite of mine as well, so moist and not too sweet. The same goes for the double chocolate cake and the German chocolate with delicious crunchy coconut on top. My husband loves their blueberry cake donuts as well as the Bavarian creme and jelly filled. Their classic honey-dip (glazed) and bowties are also fluffy and so yummy. We tried one of their new limited time pineapple fritters yesterday and it was wonderful too, the perfect fruity addition for summer. The last two times I've picked up our order they've given me a bag full of free glazed donut holes as well, which may be because I'm noticeably pregnant, but whatever the reason I'm not complaining! The seasonal lemon donut holes are so good as well. So far we have yet to try one of their donuts that we didn't like and I can't wait to keep returning to try more. We're even considering ordering donuts from them to give out as individually wrapped favors at our socially distanced baby shower next month! So happy to have found this local gem! read more

Top notch donut spot in Kansas. No, in Kansas and Missouri. No, in the United States y'all. I love this place and the donuts they offer. I'll see them down at the farmers market in OP, or catch them at their Lenexa spot whenever I get the chance. It's hard for me to select just any one, but hey, I'll never pass on one of their classic glazed. If you can't do glazed right you shouldn't be a donut shop, and they do a great glazed donut. This is definitely one of the best donuts I have had in a long time! I had actually had Mr. D's at their Lenexa Public Market space and at pop ups around the city but this was my first time going to their OG location. Its so cute inside and looks like and old dinner with low-sitting round stools that spin at the counter. They had so many donut options when we went which was at 7 am. They do sell out! So I recommend going early in the morning. I got the raspberry sprinkles and my boyfriend got the vanilla sprinkles. It was the first time I had an a raspberry sprinkles donut and yum! It was so good!! I love the small business vibes and I love visiting places that you know have its regulars. While we were enjoying our donuts, a man walked in and said hi to the whole staff and they asked if he wanted his usual and he said yes. Watching those moments is so wholesome because It shows that people are dedicated to that business and love to continue to give them business. read more

I happen to work in a office that will have vendor's drop off boxes of donuts and a couple of time's we were fortunate enough to have Mr D's. Bring Cash and bring your sweet tooth because these donuts do not miss. I like the honey dip and raspberry filled. I had the raised donut with glaze and you know it's good when you don't have to add anything else to it! They roast with Messenger Coffee and they're drink menu is extensive. Mr. D's exceeded my expectations-this tiny little shop has amazing donuts!! When I walked in, I was greeted by one of the kindest staff members, who let me take my time picking donuts and helped with suggestions. The staff is SO friendly and I would go back for this alone! Butttt the donuts just so happen to be just as spectacular so I'll be going back for donuts AND service! My favorites were the maple (huge and very fluffy with sweet maple glaze) and the honey, which was suggested by the woman who took my order.
