Called to get a diagnosis on my broken air conditioner. Service guy came out on a Friday and charged me $250 to add freon and replace the schrader valve...on Monday my air conditioner was broken again. They did return on Monday(free of charge) to see what the problem was and told us we needed a new system for $3500. I would have preferred to know on the front-end that we needed a new system. Loved that they came wearing a mask. They were extremely nice and easy to work with. They even cleaned up the dryer area when asked. The price was fair. We had a minor discrepancy as my dryer vent was on the roof not on the side per my quote, but instead of charging me extra, they cleaned it going thru the attic. So it became no extra charge. Excellent job. The two fellas, Adrian and Juan? for their young age appeared much like seasoned "take charge" professionals. Their demeanor, respectful attitude and honestly were refreshing, an uncommon attributes in the service sector nowadays. After contacting Mr Duct of Barrington, we spoke with Allysa who was very kind, received an approx quote and set up a date. We have been experiencing allergies within our house ascwe have dogs and we have not had our vents cleaned for years. Recently moved to a home that was a foreclosure. The previous owner had cats, dogs and a smoker. The bank cleaned, put new carpet and painted the whole house. Still there was a smell or taint of smoked animal in the home. Called Mr. Duct after my HVAC frIend told me to call Arrow HVAC in Lindenhurst. They wanted 900.00 for my home. Mr. Duct quoted me 750 and was there the next morning. The ducts were filthy. The home smells brand new now. Worth the money! read more

There should be more stars for this company. My husband called Mr. Duct after we received an astronomically high and dishonest quote from a different company. Our A/C had stopped working, so we called a different company to come out and check it out.This dishonest competitor had discovered that the previous homeowner had used a telephone wire as opposed to a thermostat wire to hook up our A/C. They quote us $385 to replace the single wire. After my husband called to tell me the price, and I thought it sounded way too high, the price magically came down to $139, but would need calibration and freon...still coming out to a total of $385. I told my husband to pay this other company the fee for the trip to come out ($85) and to call a different company to give us an estimate on a new A/C unit. That's when my husband, thankfully, called Mr. Duct Jason came out to give us an estimate. As my husband wasn't home, I admitted to Jason that I knew NOTHING about A/C, but explained what the last company had told my husband. After looking around, he did see that there was a telephone wire instead of a thermostat wire, and that was the issue. He then explained to me that my husband could easily go to Home Depot or Lowe's and replace the wire himself, and showed me where the wire ran from our basement to the unit outside. He quoted us for a new unit, $1000 less than the quote we got from the competitor. Last night, my husband went to Home Depot and ran a new thermostat wire. $8 later (yes, you read that correctly 8 DOLLARS) our A/C is working, just in time for the summer heat! I've already told everyone how honest this company is, and have had several requests for their phone # to get A/C tune-ups. I selected Mr Duct because of their positive reviews and their description of their cleaning thoroughness. Their description did not mention that the cleaning process was destructive and involved drilling holes into intact ducts. I had ducts and one of two furnaces cleaned in a newly purchased home. The ducts were all extremely accessible as the prior builder-owner had installed ports at regular intervals, being an HVAC professional himself. Despite this, and against my request, Mr. Duct drilled many more ports for cleaning. I complained about this but obviously once a hole is drilled, it cannot be undrilled. Since Mr. Duct asked for my feedback post-service, I provided it, but nothing was done to compensate me for this. I regret not asking them to cancel service when they failed to honor my request, but since I had already taken time off from work, and they had already shown up, I was in a difficult situation. Worse yet, over the next few weeks, I realized that one of the two furnaces had been put back together incorrectly, failing the interlock system. In addition, its thermostat was broken. I was able to self-repair the furnace interlock issue but had to completely replace the thermostat, which had been working properly prior to their cleaning service. I am now in the market for a new air conditioner, and guess who I am NOT calling? Mr. Duct. read more

Just had Mr Duct clean my air duct system. Not the best service. I don't think I will call them again. Their sales guy promised that they will call when they are on the way and will come between 10am and noon. Well, they showed up early at 9:30 with no call to warn me. Not too bad, but I had to run out of the shower with my robe on. OK, I just asked them to start downstairs, and let me finish up upstairs. When the cleaning was done, the technician (Ernesto) showed me a picture on his phone of one of the return ducts before and after. Though I was promised the video of before and after of my ducts, I didn't mind pictures as long as the job was done right. So I paid, said thank you, and when they left picked into some floor vents. I am so glad I did! I mean I didn't need videos or pictures, I could just stick my hand into the vents and take a handful of sand/dust out. Needless to say I was very unhappy about it and called the company right away. Customer service was very responsive and they sent technicians right back to my house, and told me they would be there until I am happy with the job and that I can call any time. That was very nice indeed. The 2 guys came back, I showed them everything I found. They apologized, tried to explain to me why the mistake happened, but I said it didn't matter I just wanted to get my system clean. They told me they would redo the job, and I said that this time I want pictures of every duct in my house shown to me. I also asked them about the video that I was promised by the salesmen and as it is advertised on their website. They said they did not do videos anymore; they used to have 3' cameras, but not anymore. All they do they take pictures with a cell phone by inserting it in the vent or a return duct. What a joke! I can do that; and I don't even need a cell phone I can use a flash light and pick in. So don't let the sales people fool you. There is no video or any fancy technology that shows you the state of your entire duct system; just some phone pictures of places that are accessible. So after the work was done 2d time, after about another 2 hours of my time, I made them take pictures of every place they could and show me. I also took a good flash light and stuck my hand in the floor vents and still found a couple of places I asked them to vacuum again. So at the end, all places that could be inspected were clean, and I let them go. But would I call this company again? Probably not. I do appreciate the follow up and redoing the job. However, it should have been done well the first time. So if you call these guys, I would encourage you to check everything they did before paying. Also, it is nice that I am young and energetic, and can bend down and have a good vision. But imagine an elderly client who paid her/his much needed $500 and put their trust into the technicians, not being able to check everything out the way I did... That is why I decided to write this review, and just couldn't give it more then 2 stars even though the issue was resolved. 2 more things, because the service took so long I had to ask my friend to pick up my daughter from school for me; I am glad she was able to do it. And one of the tiles in the entry way was damaged a bit by the technician who slammed the metal cover back on the vent. Small piece was broken off the tile. It tells you something about how much they care about your home and leaving it in good condition... Last addition to the review: I filled out a survey which the company emailed to me. The owner called me with his sincere apologies and offered a full refund. I accepted his apologies and the refund. The company does care about customer satisfaction. So there's hope for them to improve. read more

We moved into a new home and found our dryer wasn't drying clothes. The appliance was a new one, so we figured it had to be the vents. The two guys from Mr. Duct arrived as scheduled and were very polite, efficient, and courteous. They found the dryer vent was so blocked, virtually no air was moving through it. They cleaned all the vents in the house (which were frighteningly dirty), and they cleaned up after themselves, too. I had been prepared for dust everywhere but that wasn't the case with these guys. When I called to get an estimate, Mark And Tom educated and assured me that this would be the actual price with no up-selling at time of appointment. They also offered phone book coupons and an additional discount that I was unaware of. The Team of Mario and Eddie were professional, thorough, polite and excellent. I had asked them about replacement UV bulbs for systems on my furnaces and the office was able to get two estimates from their suppliers, one estimate being lower than the other. I appreciated them going the extra mile about pricing. I phoned 3 other companies all who were much more expensive, would not budge on pricing and did not guarantee their price was actual vs. estimate. Also extra features at extra costs offered from other companies were not offered by Mr Duct as they were not necessary and were "fluff". I greatly appreciated their honesty. As The Team was in every nook and cranny of the house, the rate of theft was high BUT this team was hard working and honest and my home was in tact after the left just a lot better air quality!!! Just closed on a home that was a short sale and was not lived in for over a year and a half. We closed knowing that there was an issue with the AC units not working appropriately and based off of online reviews we called up Mr. Duct the day we closed to get that fixed as soon as possible. Jason H. was sent out the same day we called and he worked extremely diligently on what ended up being a ridiculously complicated miswiring job on our AC units and was able to diagnose the problems and have a brand new unit installed by the following day. He also set us up with much needed duct cleaning, it was evidently very very needed as the ducts were extremely filthy! All prices were extremely reasonable and no hidden charges of any sort.
