    Huge chunks caught in the filter almost burned out the motor.

    Attached is a picture of the state of our filter, which betrays the quality of cleaning performed by Mr. Duct for $445. Despite changing our filter regularly and per Mr. Duct's guidance, our HVAC unit started making a scary amount of noise. It sounded like fan blades hitting metal. Woke everyone up in the middle of the night and we had to power off the HVAC immediately. The company that came to service found no fault with the unit. Saw the chunks of debris and said they would clean it for free within 12 months if they had performed the initial service. Below is the text from my email to Mr. Duct. No response. The supervisor told me she would hang up, when her logical inconsistencies were pointed out. "Just spoke to Christina, one of your supervisors, who has further underscored the horrendous service customers can expect from Mr. Duct. TL/DR: Debris is expected up to 1 month after cleaning. Big chunks should not be present after the first 30 days. Mr. Duct's warranty is only for 30 days. I did not call within 30 days, so there is no warranty. I asked if she sees the contradiction in the above. She did not. So, either this supervisor's logic is weak or Mr. Duct does not stand behind the quality of their work. Either way, it reflects very poorly. I changed the filter as asked to by your technicians but that didn't matter. The picture I sent earlier speaks volumes. Hence, I will now communicate my experience to others. Potential customers should know what they are getting by going with your company."

    Kirk was great! He arrived even earlier then expected and from start explained the process how everything is going to go. Since the house is 2 story with full basement, Kirk and I walked to see every vent to insure that everything will get cleaned properly. From the moment I contacted about 10 duct cleaning companies, Mr. Duct were the first to reply and ask questions to provide me with a proper estimate. From all companies, Mr. Duct was the only reasonable estimate we received. The office staff followed up with me and set up an appointment when it was convenient for me. This is a new house for us, which was built in 1978 and the previous owner probably never had his air ducts cleaned, as there was so much garbage, dust bunnies, leaves, etc... that came out. Now that there's going to be clean fresh air to breath, can actually move in. Thank you very much! I already recommended Mr. Duct to 2 of my neighbors and will will continue to do so as the experience from start to the end was Outstanding!

    Fire escape screen left open without mention to owner

    At first I was pleased with how quickly I was able to get an appointment. The appointment went smoothly (so I thought) until they left. As I started to walk around the house I noticed that all my of house windows were opened during the cleaning (not sure if this has a purpose in the cleaning process) and they were all left open after they had left. Goodbye A/C. Then, I went outside to see they had removed the duct tape that held my animal screen down over the fire exit in order to get their suction tube to the basement - which would have been fine if they replaced it or informed me so that I could do so myself. Instead they tossed it on my property (pictured) and left the screen displaced (pictured). Our property is high in wildlife and this is overall unacceptable. The clean up is as important as the service provided. Last and most importantly- they did not clean all of our vents! See pictures of dirty vents left behind. Master bedroom and front entry way.

    Be careful, they markup the prices for parts. There has to be a better local alternative.

    Much more reasonably priced than other places I contacted. And the 2 guys that came out were very courteous.

I sent a message via Yelp on a Sunday night and they immediately scheduled our oven troubleshooting for Monday afternoon. Their front office staff is incredibly responsive! George (technician) arrived timely and was very thorough. He explained things to me every step of the way. He is approaching this very methodically - ok, so it's not the igniter, let's look at the next link in the chain... I saw George called out by name in other Yelp reviews, and I understand why he comes so highly recommended! He called the manufacturer to discuss his findings, but the manufacturer tech team wasn't available. He let me know he would be calling them again in the morning and that he would reach out to me with an update. I've had plenty of negative or so-so experiences with other service technicians from other companies. This experience with George / Astera is so positive that I'm posting my review even before the service is completed. Astera will be getting first crack at all of my appliance and HVAC service calls going forward.

I saw him working - in addition to knowledge and experience he has a good working culture, and you'll rarely find it these days!!! He did a complete A/C system replacement for me. He quoted the project and after that explained all the details I was asking about (even I was asking quite a bit more than a usual customer would). As a result we slightly corrected his initial standard proposal to better fit my not quite standard case. His price was sure better than those big companies estimated. After being a customer of Allied Air Conditioning and Heating Corp. for 37 years and watching deterioration of service level there as well as a price increase I'm switching to ThermPro Heating and Cooling on a permanent base for all my HVAC needs. I can see that here you can talk it through and find solution (possibly even not a standard one) that will fit your needs and checkbook. Corporate America does not operate this way (it just cannot) - they have a set of rules and some company standards that they have to be within, but I, as a customer, do not care about. In addition to all I see that if we, consumers, will not support businesses like this one, we will be paying more for less service.     I wanted to share my experience with Ahrens & Condill HVAC company and specifically with Scott,…read moresince he was my primary contact. I contacted them and talked to Scott about the heat issue in my apartment. I knew exactly what needed to be done, as the maintenance person from my building had already inspected it and told me exactly what repairs need to take place. In my phone conversation with Scott, I explained everything to him in details and sent him pictures. He mentioned that he would still need to come out to inspect my unit before repairs could take place. When I asked him, sure, but could you please do the repair in one visit. He said no, justifying it that that's how it is usually done and I will need to pay $140 just for the first visit. I agreed to it. When he came in he literally spent 10 min at my place because, again, I had told him what needed to be done from the beginning and even sent him what he needed to bring with him. So I literally paid $140 for nothing. We then agreed that he will order necessary parts for the repair and will send his guys to do it. When I asked how much it would cost - he said that it's $150 per hour. So it solely depends on the time it takes to finish the job. I said ok and agreed to it. A week later Scott texted me saying that he received all necessary parts and ready to schedule repair visit. He also added that this work will cost $825. I was shocked with the cost and asked him how did he even come up with this number, since he told me that final cost solely depended on time duration and they only charge per hour, which is $150 per hour. He said that the material is part of the cost. I know for a fact that the material is no more than $100, so I asked him how much is the material. He didn't even bother explaining it and just said that his company works on flat rate pricing and they don't break it down per part and labor. Which was a complete lie and scam because initially he stated that they only charge per hour and that's how final cost gets calculated. Basically he wanted me to pay $826 + $140 (which I had already paid) = $966 for something that should not take more than 1-2 hours and should be around $300-$400 with labor and material. I am being completely transparent about my experience with them and particularly with Scott. Because I want to ensure that no one else gets fooled by them and spend money for nothing. I am also attaching my conversation with Scott in text messages for full transparency. Stay away from this company and from Scott in particular They just want to fool you and overcharge you for nothing. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in this day and age.
