I am so glad I finally got to visit Mr. Furley's bar in Glendale wow it was such a great time. Let me start with Safe COVID-19 practices, very safe great practices. First when you walk-in they check your temperature, they ask if you have any symptoms then they give you a paper to reserve your table in case you walk out to order at the bar, you can't take your mask until you get to your table, the restrooms are clean and disinfected, of course menus are only by QR code. We order our drinks at the bar, the bartender suggested we should have the fun shots which are actually a little bigger than the actual shots, we had the apple something it was so delicious, yes strong because it's a shot. We proceeded with drinks, both were delicious, we had Janets little secret and Moscow mule. Janets little secret was so refreshing not too sweet, made with some watermelon liqueur, the food was also good, we had the phillicheese calzone like and wings. Mr Furley's is the go to place for happy hour whenever my coworkers want to celebrate. They have a large selection of drinks and food during happy hour. The happy hour is but two get 1 free on beer, mixed drinks and shots! They have a solid selection of food that pairs well with all of their drinks. If you ask me, I wouldn't skip on the mozzarella sticks, that's for sure! The ambiance is a bit louder than normal since it is a dive bar, but this is expected. It's also a bit dark in there so it'll take a while for your eyes to get adjusted. Keep in mind, the tables are first come first serve, which I actually prefer because I don't want to worry about reserving for a large party. They have pool tables, and darts that you can rent. I rented our one of their private rooms for a birthday celebration, let me start off by saying everything was good . We had a good time, it all started when one of the employees told us that our music was so loud and we needed to lower it. First of all, you guys provide the set up we just plug in our phones that isn't my problem. Where I became upset was when a security guard came into our party 30 min before our time was up, I had a feeling that he was going to kick us out before 9. 7 min before 9 he stopped the music and told us that we needed to get out of the room now, he was VERY VERY aggressive. My guest and I became upset and I approached him to remind him that there is a way to speak to people and there was no need to become aggressive especially if it was the first reminder. The situation got worse, he started tilting his neck stretching as if he was going to do something about it. Of course some of my guest came around me and told him that there was no need for his tone the aggressiveness, we rented out a private room we weren't part of tour drunk walk ins. My experience was very bad and the fact that all my guest had to experience this was upsetting . I have to start off by saying that writing this review is honestly a bummer, considering what a staple Furley's used to be for my friends and I. I debated writing this review for months, but thought other people should be aware of what they are getting themselves into. I decided to have my birthday celebration at Furley's back in April and booked the lower VIP room. Booking the room was fairly easy and streamlined, though I will say they have some ridiculous rules and fees (e.g. $200 charge if you decide to book outside of their default reservation times which are 5-9 and 9:30-1:30 - kind of odd time blocks??). Anyway, come day of the party, there were a couple staff members setting up who were very helpful (Sean i think his name was? and this really sweet girl with a mask and space buns) because our bartender apparently was going to be late to the shift. No biggie, I thought, things happen. My first red flag was when I noticed how many strangers were trying to sneak into the room, and I had to personally go and tell them that it was a private party. What kind of establishment lets just anybody into a private room? Part of the fee you pay is for the agreement that it is a VIP PRIVATE area. Why do I have to confront these people myself? I try to ignore that and enjoy myself regardless. Most of the night was pretty fun, my guests were having a good time. An hour or so into the reservation time, our bartender arrives (Miriam i think her name was?) and she gets started prepping drinks for my guests. It would've been totally fine and cool, but the rest of the night she was totally standoffish and rude to me for some reason. Even a couple guests made comments to me after the fact that they felt like they were bothering her by ordering a drink?? What's the point of being in a bar if I can't order a drink without feeling like a burden. The end of the night is where things get really dicey - basically ruined the entire experience for me. Around 12 o'clock, a security guard abruptly shows up and starts yelling at everyone to get out, that the party's over. I'm sorry where did you come from all of a sudden?? Where were you when I had to get into multiple confrontations with strangers sneaking in to my party?? Mind you, in my mind I had booked the room for another half hour (e.g. 8:30-12:30) so I very politely inform the security guard that I have the room booked for 30 more mins. He directs me to our bartender and tells us to talk to her, which I do, and I again very politely tell her about the miscommunication. She almost snaps back that the room has been booked only until 12. I say ok, no problem maybe I'm wrong, I'd just like to check my emails really quick to clarify. When I check and see that it is in fact, until 12 o'clock, I tell her my mistake, and she smiles back with a snarky "I told you so" kind of look. What's with all the hostility?? It was a clear misunderstanding, I'm not trying to swindle you guys for another 30 mins wtf?? Me and my guests are all but herded out like sheep, to the point where I have to ask for PERMISSION to grab my decorations and belongings before they kick me out. Worst part of all, was the bartender got to clearing out the room so fast and with such attitude, that she tossed out my birthday cake I was saving for my mom to try (she was the one who had baked it and wanted to taste it to see how it had turned out). That part just made me so upset I was crying on the way home because I felt so powerless. I just feel like the entire situation could've been handled so much better. The bartender could've had a nicer disposition, and could have approached me a half hour prior and warned me about the timing, instead of having the security basically come in, embarrass me, and kick out me and my guests as if we were intruders. I'm a very fair person, I understand that this is a business after all. I would've started clearing the space prior so to avoid this whole debacle, and even had some cake to take home to my poor mom who had slaved away on a cake she never got to try. I felt disrespected and treated like absolute garbage. If these are policies the owner puts forth, I hope they can reflect and reevaluate the way they treat their guests and people who pay for their services. Ruined my birthday and honestly have not had any desire to return to this place with all the trauma associated with it. read more

We didn't plan on coming here but im happy we did from the start Oscar (security) very nice, he got us a nice seat near a pool table, view of tv's. Super weird place stay away. Had a couple sips of my first drink and my leg started to give out by the time I reached the table from the bar ... and had been completely unconscious within 15 minutes. We went here just today, and I need air because I'm having an asthma attack , and I brought the glass of water outside that I requested, and this security keeps on insisting us to not bring the "alcohol" outside. And again, it's not alcohol. My man kept on telling the security it's not alcohol and I need air and the water. And suddenly, HE KICKED US OUT. And my man use his vape inside because he's so pissed. Then we talked to the bartender about what the security did to us. Then the security just told the bartender that the reason for kicking us out is the vaping inside. We're just like bro, we've been seeing a lot of people inside using vape, and that's not reason to kick us out. You just using another reason to make yourself feel justified. He's always the one taking things to the extreme and assuming the worst. We're regulars here, and he's consistently an issue. We know everyone's doing their job but he's always like this. I actually do like certain things about this bar. I like how much room it has and I like that they have some pretty good specials (Happy Hour etc). Also, they have pool/billiards, which is hard to come by these days in a place that is also very inviting. What I didn't like, however, was how as we were playing pool the staff cleared away our drinks (while they were still half, or more, full) and then gave us attitude when we confronted them about it. The security guard, while otherwise quite nice, was acting like we were absolutely insane to ask the question of why the buss boy would clear our drinks without even asking us if we were done with them. Granted it was near the end of the night, but we were by no means the last players in the room. It had been awhile since we had set foot into this building. New name and a big face lift later, it's a California cougar. Old bones but everything else looks young. Bar is amazing. Pool tables are still abundant, but it's got a new feel. Younger crowd enjoying drinks, bellied up at high tops after a long, work day. We were just there for a beer and some pool. Happy hour is 5-9! Pool was half off for the hour. We were going to look elsewhere for food until we looked at the menu. Bavarian pretzels. $4?! Delicious. Piping hot nacho cheese is worth burning the roof of your mouth to avoid the unenjoyable cool down and stare at it time. Drunken bird fried chicken sandwich. $6?! Amazing. Crispy, juicy chicken sandwich with cold, crisp cucumbers. I will now ask for cucumber in lieu of pickles on all my fried chicken sandwiches. Nice touch. She got the Cuban. $6?! Pretty good. I chose more wisely. Both came with fresh, fried kettle chips. Fantastic. Great food at a great price is getting hard to find. I found it. Drinks are buy 2, get 1 free during happy hour. My only knock on the place is that they don't have tap beer. There is some sign that tries to advocate for bottled beer. Put any beer on tap next to the same beer in a bottle and ask someone to taste them both. They'll pick the tap beer every time. It's just better. I ditched the beer after one bottle and finished off with a couple of El Guapos. Tequila, pineapple, lime, and jalapeño. Pretty tasty and only $7. Definitely won't hesitate to return. I've been here more than a couple times before. Drinks and food yum. Employees are average. Employees don't have the best customer service, not the worst, considering what kind of people show up here. i've been in customer service too, so I understand how shitty customers can be. They do enough. Anyway, I came in with my fiancé and sister in law around 1:30am this Thursday. They gave my card and license to the wrong person. I understand mistakes happen but the way it was handled was just terrible and unprofessional. When I asked to close out my tab it took 20-30 for someone to come up to me and ask "has a manager come and talked with you yet?" I had no idea I was even waiting for a manager. She explained to me they accidentally gave my ID and card to the wrong person and that a manager will come and help me out. The manager never came to handle the situation or apologize for the mistake. I never yelled, gave attitude or caused a scene, maybe if I did the manager would have thought I was worth their time. Eventually a girl named sunny came and helped me out, she wasn't one of the bartenders that took any of my orders or took my card initially but she actually took the time to handle the situation even though she's not the manager so I appreciated her a lot. They said the only thing they can do is hope the person notices they have the wrong ID and come back and then they will contact me. Personally I only take my ID out when needed so who knows when this stranger will realize they have someone else's license. This is incredibly inconvenient for me since I don't have my license and even going back is a 30 minute drive one way which I will also have to get a friend to take me because I don't want to risk a ticket because "the bar has my license" is not a good excuse to give a cop. Meh. A good-looking bar from the outside, and definitely at least a cosmetic upgrade from the previous Charles' Billiards, but it's still a kind of a dive bar with lipstick. I have problems with neither dive bars, nor lipstick, but this place seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. Starts: Parking is not great; no designated lot except for a pretty large lot behind the bar on Maryland that used to have access directly to the bar, but which has now been closed and for which there is no entrance, and only an emergency exit. That lot takes credit card, but the streets only take coins, so keep that in mind. The bar looks good when you walk in. A few tables in the front, a large bar, and a bunch of pool tables in the back. Happy hour prices on drinks are pretty good at Buy 2, Get 1 free, but the drinks are neither particularly tasty, strong, nor well-made, as in a whiskey sour will just be like three ingredients shaken and poured. This would all be fine if it presented more as a dive, but there is a large prominent outline of a figure front and center who I suppose to be Mr. Furley, made up of a top hat, a monocle, and a pipe, if i recall correctly, which all speaks to a sort of boojy, fancy, well-curated and hifalutin class that is in neither the drinks nor the food. The food is presented like a dive. NACHOS! MOZZARELLA STICKS! NO TAKE OUT NO UTENSILS HAHAHA WE'RE JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME HERE! and that works in some ways because it's cost and time-saving, and the 4 large nachos were tasty but not particularly a good value as there are literally 4 chips, very deliberately, and the mozzarella sticks were pretty tasty, a big piece of cheese breaded and fried pretty nicely that almost immediately you regret eating if you have issues digesting dairy (as many do). it was mildly annoying when we didn't finish the mozzarella sticks and asked for a take out container and were reminded that HAHA WE DON'T DO THAT KINDA THING CUZ WE'RE SO GOOFY but we were permitted a large piece of foil to wrap our food in. classy. half a block down the street is Tavern on Brand, which had more people in the front patio than McFurley's had in the entire bar. that probably says something. read more

What's not to love about this bar! I came here today with a friend to catch up on love, life & everything in between. The ambiance is very inviting + dim lit. I arrived around 7:30pm and sat at the bar. Service was wonderful, all of the bartenders were attentive and checked in to see if there was anything I needed. People in the bar were friendly and welcoming. The crowd was a great mix of people. It was a relaxed vibe. I ordered the "Janet" and "Larry" cocktail, both were good. The Janet was my favorite, sweet & strong. The Larry drink was tart but not spicy. I love that they have daily specials from 5-9pm!!!! I have been going to Mr Furley's for years, beginning with the Sherman Oaks location. It's a fun atmosphere with great drinks, great food, and reasonable prices. I'm a nacho lover, and the "nachos quatro" here are not nachos at all, but four tostadas. Does that disappoint me? Not at all, not a bit, those things are delicious! I come to this bar mainly for these tasty tostadas. For only $5, they're a steal! Good happy hour deals (until 9 PM!), so many pool tables, TVs with sports going, friendly staff. My only complaint is that somehow Verizon's service inside is terrible, which isn't the fault of the bar, but it still dampens the experience a little bit because every time I'm there I snap a pic of the tostadas and want to send it to people to make them wish they were there (they always do).
