This has been my go-to boba spot in Walnut Creek for awhile now mainly for the popcorn chicken and boba tea combo. I usually get the Thai tea (it's good but nothing to write home about, only Yelp) with boba and their chicken at a spicy level of 4 which is definitely spicy. If you still want a little kick a 3 will get you there too. The popcorn chicken is what keeps me coming back though. It's actually pretty fantastic, I can eat A LOT, and the serving size leaves me stuffed. Definitely a shareable item. The flavor is good too and the seasoning is interesting, I'm not sure what they use but the flavor is strong, distinct, and lingers after you finish eating. If you work close to others you might want to brush your teeth after because your breath will smell like their popcorn chicken. The only drawback I can think of is the tiny little paper dipping container you get for sauces. They have sweet chili, ketchup, and ranch but the container you get for the sauces are literally big enough to fit the tip of your pinky in, weird decision. read more

Got in and there was a line, I asked the cashier if I could pay ahead since I had ordered pickup. And she said there were no pickup orders. I was annoyed but waited in line for 10 min...4tgrh her co-worker told her someone had called for pickup, it just never went to the kitchen. Lo and behold I waited another fifteen minutes. Mr. Green Bubble has quickly become one of my favorite places to get boba. My sister and I go at least once a week. Everyone we've brought with us has become a fan too. The interior is usually very clean. The workers are generally great! A few seem a bit less competent than others. They have a few games that customers can play with, such as Ticket to Ride. Their late hours make it a good place to grab a late snack. Mr. Green Bubble offers a variety of snacks and drinks. I've tried several of the ones with green thumbs next to them and they're all pretty good, my favorite maybe being the Honey Rose Green Milk Tea. I ordered drinks mobile and went in to pick them up. I ordered the wrong boba but I didn't realize it was the wrong one I wanted. I went in and kindly asked to get the different boba since it was the same price and the woman who helped me went over and dumped my drinks into a different cup with the right boba, not even putting all the liquid into it so a quarter of my drink went to waste and I told her that that wasn't right because the syrup from the other boba was now mixed into my drink and it tasted funny and she was refusing to make me a new drink until I complained again and she remade it being very rude and storming off and just putting my drinks on the table. I was excited to find Mr. Green Bubble had a location I could travel to and decided on an osthmanthus oolong tea. I appreciated that they do seem to have a larger menu of just straight up teas like Earl Grey AND have decaf teas--I'm not sure if I've ever seen places ever offer decaf teas and only offer the "standard" ones (green, black, oolong). So I was pleased with this place. I love that their cups appear to be a sturdy plastic and they also give out the tops that typically go with hot drinks (the white coffee top lids with a small opening to sip vs. covering their cups in a plastic wrap). It seems like something you can reuse at least a couple of times for water or other cold drinks. The restroom was also fine. I'd come here again if I was in the area but like other people I wouldn't rush to return. It's a cheaper option than say Serenitea. It's also probably one of the closest if not the closest location to BART if you've got a hankering and you're in the Walnut Creek BART station area or need a refresher after shopping at Target. read more

False advertising. I went to use the "1 free boba" Yelp promo but was told it was only for a free boba topping. Okay, perhaps word mixup by their marketing person? Perhaps not.. because I ordered a $3.75 Oolong Milk Tea, and was asked if I'd like boba in it, to which I said yes. The guy tried to charge me $4.25 and when I asked he said that boba was included in all drinks and that the prices listed in the store were old and out of date. Really?! And if all drinks include boba in the price, how does the Yelp "1 free boba" which you claim is only for a free boba topping work? If I can't add boba by paying extra, how can I get it free with the promo? Doesn't make any sense, and is either false advertising or they're really trying to squeeze their customers who try to redeem the Yelp promo. He then proceeded to charge me $3.80 which isn't the price listed for my drink. To make things worse, I asked if their boba was honey boba and the guy said "no, it's normal boba." I asked "so it's not made with honey?" And another worker behind him said it actually was. It's not popping boba but yes it is indeed honey boba. The first guy working the counter didn't have a clue. The other strange and disappointing thing is that I ordered Oolong. It tasted off so I asked what my drink was and they said Oolong Green Milk Tea. Interesting since I've never been asked to specify green or black for an Oolong tea in general, nor was I when ordering here. I know you can brew an Oolong to have more black vs green characteristics but have yet to encounter a pearl tea place that does this on demand. If this place does in fact do this (seems unlikely), they should ask you if you I want black vs green Oolong when ordering. The sad thing is: the milk tea and pearls were actually pretty good. Not Purple Kow Oolong or Black Milk Tea with pearls good. Or even Fantasia Milk Tea with pearls good. But possibly comparable to Teaspoon and Supercue Roast Oolong. Old 3 star review Store looks clean. Line wasn't long. A majority of the seating was open. Took them 20 minutes to make our drink (champagne grape and avocado smoothie). Wasn't a happy camper when I had to remind them only to find out that they forgot my drink in the blender with my girlfriends sitting on the counter this whole time. The seal wasn't very good and ripped twice. The drinks were pretty decent though. Update: The store owner reached out to me and asked for feedback. Seriously a regular here. I go here once a week, minimum. I love Mr. Green Bubble! I moved into the area from the Berkeley area and I was looking for a good boba place.I went to Milk Tea Lab first and I liked it at first but then over time I was turned off by the ambiance, employees, massive crowds of high school-ers, overly loud music, lack of good seating options, boba was kinda hard, etc. Okay sorry, this is not just a review ragging on Milk tea Lab. This was one of the only other options that is close. I'll name a few of their highlights: THE BOBA: The milk tea/ boba is consistently good. Maybe once I've had a drink where the tapioca balls were harder. 90% of the time, I get boba that is soft, warm, chewy. That is good quality boba. The tea is okay. Again, not a tea snob, but their tea definitely tastes better than most places I've had in the area. Also pricing is very reasonable and they have amazing deals (BOGO Monday and Tuesday after 6). Also they get the drinks out RIDICULOUSLY fast if no one else is there. I like their Jade green milk tea and just the house milk tea. Taro is pretty good too. FOOD: Popcorn chicken is SO bomb (I get it at 2-3 spiciness I can't handle the heat at 4 HAHA) . I could eat it every day. They also do a combo deal with the regular teas. So good. I've had a sample of the belgian waffle thing and it was really good too. Egg puff waffles are the regular egg puff waffles, good but nothing to write home about. Fries and calamari weren't great, but not bad. EMPLOYEES: The employees are usually pretty nice and helpful. Have stayed near closing a couple of times and they never act annoyed or upset. Also have had to change a drink order and they were pretty nice about it. One guy who is a manager (?) and always working is really nice. Have asked them to turn down the air conditioning as well and they were friendly about it. AMBIANCE/SEATING: Music is kinda eh (see below), but I love the design and set up of this place! They have this cute wood thing going on and a super comfy couch. LOVE the huge wooden table, although some of the seats are broken! PARKING/LOCATION: I always just park in the lot right next to this one on Locust. It's first hour free and only 50 cents after that. I stay here for what seems like forever and have never paid over $1. Although I will admit that when there is an event parking at the lot there is like barely anywhere else to park. That's downtown Walnut Creek for ya. Also the parking lot spaces are pretty cramped, so try NOT to park in a compact if your car is big because you might get dinged. It's nice that its located near so much food if you're here studying and want to grab dinner at lettuce, mixed grains, sauced, etc. DOWNSIDES: I will not deny MGB has a few negative things, although they are pretty small. Music: The music can be way too loud sometimes. And sometimes they play the spotify ads LOL. I could be a fan of Kpop and 2009 hits but sometimes it can just make the place way to noisy and busy, which contrasts the set up which makes it like a chill cafe. It would be a nice place to study if they didn't blast the music so loud. At times I am shouting over the music like I'm in a club or something haha. Games: They have like 2 board games. hahaha. I am thankful for them providing them but if they are going to, wish they would provide a bit more variety with the game options! read more

I like this place. Before they opened, there weren't really any bubble tea places in the area but that has definitely changed and soon there will be half a dozen within a small radius, but I am not complaining. Mr. Green Bubble happens to be the closest one to me in WC and I always luck out with parking or wind up grabbing one when I'm walking around downtown. My favorite is the Brown Rice Milk Tea with boba which sounds strange and granted I do like earthier tasting teas, but I think this one happens to be delicious and not too sweet. I've had other varieties including the Jasmine Milk Tea and I really do like their offerings. I haven't had any other food there yet but it does seem like they have a good little menu with lots of snacks. It is on the pricier end (my last bill for two teas was almost $10) but they sometimes have specials which is always appealing. read more

A cool vibe inside. All cool Asian people working here. I wanted to get an ice cream sandwich and BTW an employee has to open the ice cream sandwich freezer. With high hopes of being pleased by the gods of boba, I'm sad to say that the employees of the boba gods here at Mr. Green Bubble dampened my mood what started out as a lovely Wednesday night. I entered the vicinity at approximately 9:30 with my friends with the mindset to drink boba and have fun playing cards. As we were finishing up our last round of cards before heading out, at 9:55, five minutes before closing, the store representatives told us they were closed and asked us to leave. We didn't even get to finish our last round of cards. With all of this said, I will continue to come and enjoy their boba, a gracious gift from the boba gods. They make consistently good boba. Surprisingly they also have good snacks. We really like the popcorn chicken and fried tofu cubes - of note, their spiciness scale runs spicy, a 3/5 spiciness here is quite spicy. I came here about a week ago. I ordered the milk tea with ube. It honestly was so disappointing, it tasted like very watered down milk and was also warm like it has been sitting in a hot car for hours. I so happy this location finally opened up because there aren't really any other good boba places in Walnut Creek! They are in their soft opening phase, but the drinks and food were still really good. I ordered the lychee green tea and popcorn chicken. The drinks are generally really good here because they don't make them really sweet and you can still taste the tea flavor. The location is right on Locust near the parking garage so it's super convenient. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been to a Mr Green Bubble yet. read more

I'm sad giving this place only 2 stars because there is so much potential, and it is the only boba place near me. I ordered a strawberry green tea boba and original egg puffs. The staff were super friendly and my boba came out right away. However, my egg puffs definitely took too long to come out. After waiting 10 minutes and was halfway done with my boba, I went back up to the counter to ask if they had forgotten that I had also ordered egg puffs. They assured me that they hadn't and that it was in the process of being made. I've been eating egg puffs for most of my life. At quick places, it only takes 5 minutes to make, because they need to pour in the batter, make the puffs, and wait for it to cool for a minute before handing it to the customer. At this place, it took about 15 minutes. I wasn't in a rush, but if I had known it was going to take this long, I would have just ordered the boba. Would I give this place another try? Probably if I was in the area and craving boba. Would I order eggs puffs again? Probably not. read more
