Wanted to try something different and support this mom and pop diner. On Sunday afternoon, we were greeted by the gentleman who was both the host and server. I ordered their 9.99 jumbo burger which is peculiar. Sorry no photo-was hungry! It was a hamburger in a small french roll cut in half. My husband tried it and he says it seemed like someone threw some ground beef on the grill, into a roll, then sliced it in half. Fries were good and crunchy. Hubby had the steak and grilled onions which was seasoned nicely. For such a small portion, definitely not valued for 12.99 Mr. G was not really attentive with refilling our waters (only one serving that afternoon) but, a nice guy. Overall, this visit was just OK. The first time I came for breakfast on the weekend it was pretty good and service was great. I came for lunch during the week and the food absolutely horrible although the service was still good. The hamburger special supposed to be a 1/3 lb and the meat wasn't even a 1/4 lb and was oblong and much smaller than the bun and cooked til it was dry. The salad was wilted and looked like it was sitting in a pool of water before put on my plate. I don't know how a place would have the audacity to serve a salad that bad. I also ordered chili cheese fries and the fries were dense and stale tasting as if they fried some freezer burned fries. I don't think I'll be coming back here. My bro ordered the steak sandwich and my SIL ordered a steak (can't remember the name) and baked potato. Our meal took a minute being that they were steaks plus her baked potato. My bro liked his order, but thought that the steak patty could have used a bit more seasoning. My SIL said her steak was perfectly seasoned but luke warm, we think hers was cooked first but had to sit while waiting for her baked potato. Mine was perfect and aroma of the herbs was OUTSTANDING. the taste did not disappoint. My brother tasted mine and also gave it 3 thumbs up. I made sure to tell the waiter to let the cook know that my dish was excellent. Overall we had a great experience although we showed up 15 minutes before closing, we were greeted in a pleasant manner and we're not rushed or looked at in a funny way for arriving at almost closing time. (I guess this my month for legitimate 'old school' diners) I had the Huntington omelette which had no taste. The salsa I received on the side had an unusual grey color and frankly I did not enjoy it. I'm not sure how much was due to the taste and how much was due to the grey color. The potatoes had no taste either, seasoning is not their strong point. Finally went to try this place after wanting to for years so mad I didn't come here before. The man who was upfront greeted us and we sat down right away he asked if we would like some coffee and of course we did, it was very warm and delicious. He then came and took our food order, the man was very friendly and seemed super happy to be there. It was nice and empty since we went there early but they have a nice breakfast special menu for the early birds.
